Set up separate online account

I bought a phone under my daughter's account using her employee discount. She already has a phone, but I (we) would like to set up my phone on a different online account instead of being combined. I would like separate billing. Is this possible? Eventually I would be switching to a family plan when my husband's ATT plan is up later this month. Is this possible or will all phones have to be under one account? One bill.

She will be able to open a sub-level account under her name, so you and your husband can have a family share plan.  Her mobile number will be on a separate account.  She will need to contact Customer Care to transfer your number to a different account (under her name). After the change has been made, you can add the 2nd line to that account.  Adding a new line will require another credit check to be ran.

The entire family has used one itunes account for years. How do we all set up separate iCloud accounts now? Or should we? 5 macbooks, 2 ipads, 4 iphones, 2 itouch, 2 imacs.   How does one decide what to sync, share and what not to? Green Jeans.

You need to start by understanding the distinction between iTunes and iCloud - Apple confuse the issue by referring to 'iTunes Match' as part of iCloud. It isn't.
You don't have to have the same login (Apple ID) for iTunes and iCloud; many people don't and there's no problem about it.
Your iCloud ID gets you email, calendars, contacts, iWork documents and PhotoStream syncing between devices.
Your iTunes ID gets you the iTunes Store, the App Store for iOS, the Mac App Store for OSX,, 'iTunes in the Cloud' (downloading of purchased items to any logged-in device) and 'iTunes Match' (uploading of songs not purchased in the iTunes Store).
Your family members can easily each get their own iCloud account to keep email etc. separate - in each case they will need a different non-Apple email address (a free one from Yahoo etc. would do) to set up the ID. If they are sharing a Mac they need to be using a separate user account.
They can have their own iCloud accounts and still all sign into the same iTunes account: or they can open their own iTunes accounts using their new iCloud Apple IDs.
BUT they cannot transfer items purchased under the present iTunes ID to different iTunes IDs.

This is possible, but I haven't found any official Apple topics about it, so I will share a nice web article about it on a Mac fan website:

  • Can I set up separate cloud accounts with one apple id?

we have several devices (6) but don't want to have to re-purchase all of the music and apps

You will need to use separate IDs to set up separate iCloud accounts.  However, you can continue to share the same ID for purchasing but use different IDs for iCloud.  (The ID you use for purchasing does not need to be the same as the ID you use for other services.)  You will also want to use separate IDs for iMessage and FaceTime to avoid getting each other's text messages and FaceTime calls.

  • HT4528 How do I set up separate icloud accounts on two phones with one apple id?

My husband and I have two iPhone 5s and one Apple ID.  I set up my iCloud account and we want to set up a separate one for him so we don't share each other's contacts, etc.

  • Set up separate iTunes accounts

How do I set up separate itunes accounts (unique one for each child) so they can download music and I can track $ usage. Each child has a separate shuffle but they use the same Imac computer.

There are several different ways to use two iPods with one computer, have a look at this help page for suggestions: How to use multiple iPods with one computer
You don't need a separate store account for each person by the way unless you particularly feel the need to segregate the purchases. You can set up one account and load songs from it onto any or all of the iPods (though you may want only one person, yourself for example, to hold the password and control the purchases).

  • In trying to set up an online account, a diagnostic informed me that I should update my browser to accept 128 bit security encryption. How do I accomplish this? I already have Firefox 4.

I can't understand why my browser would not be compatible with 128 bit security encryption. Have set up several other accts with no issues. What are possible problems related to this non-compatibility?

Firefox 4 supports AES-256 (256 bit) encryption in addition to 128 bit since Firefox 2 in 2002.

  • 2 iphone 5's, 1 itunes account to share music; how do you set up 2 icloud accounts using one MacBookPro?

My wife and I each purchased the iphone 5 and we share an itunes account. How do I sync our iphones to our MacBookPro so we each have our own iCloud account (contacts, calendars, etc.)? We want to be able to share the itunes music on our computer.

If you are sycing your contacts and calendars with iCloud, don't sync them with your computer using iTunes.  If you sync with both iCloud and iTunes this will cause duplicates.  If you want to keep your contacts, calendar, etc. separated rather than merged, be sure to set up separate iCloud accounts on both phones using different Apple IDs.  You can continue to share the same Apple ID for purchasing music, apps, etc.; it does not need to be the same as the ID you use for iCloud, iMessage or other services.
In terms of syncing your music and other non-iCloud data with the same computer, this article will explain different options depending on how you want to set it up: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495.

  • Two iPhones with same Apple ID and want two separate icloud accounts.

I have two iPhones both of which are set up with the same Apple ID. How can I set up separate icloud accounts for each phone?  My phone has same email for Apple ID and icloud account. I wants wife's phone to have icloud set up with her own email account.  Right now her phone keeps automatically reverting to my email address for icloud.

To migrate to a separate account she will have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the current account to turn off Find My iPhone when prompted (if she's running iOS 7), choose Keep on My iPhone (to keep a copy of the iCloud data on her phone), then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create her new account and choose Merge to upload the data to the account.  (Deleting the account only deletes it from her phone, not from iCloud.  This won't effect your phone.)
Once she's on a separate account, you can each sign into your account on icloud.com and delete the other person's data from your account.

  • How can I set up two iCloud accounts

I want to set up two different iCloud accounts for my wife and I. We both use the same account for buying apps but we want different iCloud accounts. How do I do that? Can I do that?  Thanks for the help!

You can set up separate iCloud accounts for each of you and sign into your account on both your iPhone and iPad.
To change the account on her phone, go to Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account, choose Keep on My iPhone when prompted.  (This only deletes the account from her phone; not from iCloud.)  Then sign in with a different ID to create her new account (and use this ID for iMessage and FaceTime too).  After setting up the account on her phone, she can then sign in with the same ID on her iPad to sync iCloud data between her devices.
You can then sign into you iCloud account using your ID on your devices, and both of you can continue to share the same ID in Settings>iTunes & App Stores.

  • Online account setup - number not recognized

Hello, Please can someone help me, I've already tried google anf other search engines to see if there is a solution to my problem, but I've had no luck so far. I am trying to set up an online account to manage my bills/usage etceach time I try to register I get the message 'number not recognized'I've tried numerous times, and really frustrated now, one thing I did find is that there are a lot of people who have had the same issue and this issue goes back a few years, so it is somewhat concerning, that a number I am paying for is not showing on the system. Please can someone get back to me with clear instructions on how to set up an online account in case I have missed anything. and If I still have no luck, then please can I have further assistance. Regards, L

  • Separate ICloud Accounts Question

I am setting up separate ICloud accounts for my wife and me. I have them unfortunately mingled together. I want her Macbook, Iphone and Ipad to sync with each other, and my Imac, Iphone and Ipad to sync. When I started to delete the common ICloud account from her phone to create a separate ID for her I got this message: “What would you like to do with ICloud contacts, etc... when the account is deleted? 1. Keep on IPhone. 2. Delete from IPhone. If I delete will all of her current contacts and Safari data, etc be lost from the phone and all have to be reentered?

If there are data in the common account that your wife wants to keep, then choose option 1.  Then she should go through the data and delete any that she doesn't want, keeping only the stuff that belongs to her.  Then she can connect to her new icloud account.  The data on the device will sync up to the account and then propagate to her other devices when they are connected to icloud.  BUT, after doing option 1 on one device (computer or iOS devices), when deleting the common account on the other devices, do not choose option 1, since her data is already in the new account.

  • My 2 children share an itunes account.  now that they are older and receive lots of itunes gift cards, it's very difficult for them to each redeem cards fairly! how do i set up separate accts

can anyone tell me how to go about setting up a separate account for one child without messing up the original account?  or can anyone give suggestions about redeeming gift cards so each child does not have to keep track of the others purchases.  its' causing a lot of stress around here and potential inequity.  my daughter wants her own acct.  i assume i would set that up under a separate email and will she lose everything?

You will indeed need another email address, but you just then set up the account as you did your current one. You can use your daughter's gift card to set up the account. I'd suggest you give each child his/her own user account in Windows, if you haven't already. That will give them each their own iTunes library and keep each child's purchases completely separate.
As to the existing content, once you've set up the user account for your daughter, just copy the content you want your daughter to have from your current iTunes library to a shared location (either on the computer or on removable storage such as a USB flash drive or an external hard drive), log into your daughter's user account, launch iTunes, and drag the content into the iTunes window. Then just authorize that copy of iTunes to that iTunes Store account (Store menu -> Authorize) and she'll be able to continue to play and sync that content. Log her into her own iTunes Store account for future purchases.
    Regards.
