Set up testing environment

To whom it may concern:
I have oracle Database 10g and JDeveloper 10g full version.
I also have a complete development web site similar to content manager, written in java.
the following files are:
.profile for database connection.
content.war
dbContent.prop
"content" folder directory for webApp.
However, i do not know what i should do to deploy the package.

Hi,
select the project and choose "New" from the context menu. In the dialog, select deployment profile and choose e.g. EAR to deploy your application. The deployment profile that gets created is an entry in teh project. Right mous click on it and choose properties to see and edit its content (which should be fine min most cases).
Use this entry to deploy your project as an EAR file or directly to OracleAs, OC4J or 3rd party application servers

  • Setting up test environment for EBS

    Hi all !
We have r12 setup on RHEL 5.7 servers with SAN storage and 11.1.0.7 database. What are the best practices for setting up test environment for testing patches, fixes, etc. ? Should the test env be an exact replica of the production setup ? What if we can no more get the same hardware as our prod env now (due to technology enhancements from the vendors, etc.) ?
    Thanks in advance !

VinodYour TEST/Patch instance does not necessarily need to match your production in terms of hardware specs. However, you need to make sure you are running on the same OS and updates. UAT instance is the one that needs to be running on a hardware which is identical (or very close) to production.

  • Exchange Server 2010 SP3 test environment - email flow to/from internet

Today I set up test environment for Exchange Server 2010 SP3 - domain controller running Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Exchange Server 2010 SP3 on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 and client computer running Windows 7 Pro SP1 x64 with Outlook Pro 2010 x64. These
machines are VMs on vSphere 5.0 cluster made of 4 esxi 5.0 hosts.
I have three years of experience in working with Exchange Server 2010 in my production environment but until recently I have not had enough resources to build a test environment. Does "testing" Exchange Server 2010 infrastructure have
a real life purpose considering the fact that only internal email flow is possible since authoritative SMTP accepted domain is not hosted anywhere thus not visible to outside world. This limited email flow combined with absence of possibility to test
ActiveSync, Outlook Anywhere, OWA from WAN, . . . really hurt and make Exchange Server rare technology that can not be tested completely before introducing something new into the production. Services that are not possible to test from the outside world are
useless and whole point of Exchange-like technologies is availability from anywhere and from whatever device.

I set up Internet Send Connector (by default this type of send connector uses DNS MX records to route email automatically). Having sent an email to my gmail account I did not receive it and in transport logs I saw that mx record was found successfully
but there is the following line:
2014-08-05T20:39:51.942Z,Internet Connector,08D17F000FE36010,1,,2a00:1450:4013:c01::1b:25,*,,"Failed to connect. Error Code: 10051, Error Message: A socket operation was attempted to an unreachable network 2a00:1450:4013:c01::1b:25"
I tried also to send an email to my production email address (we have Symantec Messaging Gateway which is used as a smart host (antispam, antimalware, content filter appliance)) but then error is:
2014-08-05T20:50:08.395Z,Internet Connector,08D17F000FE36019,1,,91.238.7.10:25,*,,"Failed to connect. Error Code: 10061, Error Message: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 91.238.7.10:25"
Telnet from test exchange to 91.238.7.10 on port 25 also is not working.

  • SSL-Problems when setting up a test environment with Exchange

    Hello everyone,
I am trying to set up a test environment with Exchange 2013 to learn how the stuff works. However, I am facing some problems due to the fact that Exchange is designed for use with SSL certificates. The main thing that makes problems is the connection with
RPC over HTTP. I've used the MS remote connectivity analyzer to find out why it is not working and as I thought it is because of a missing SSL certificate (it seems the self signed doesn't work here). Now in order to get this working I just bought a certificate
for "mydomain.com". Now here is the first problem: This certificate is NOT a wildcard certificate. So if I understood correctly it works for mydomain.com but it won't work for subdomain.mydomain.com. Is this correct? (First question)
If this is correct I will probably another problem: As I said this is a learning-environment so the server is at home behind a router. This means: Only one WAN-IP. I think could get this working by forwarding everything to the Exchange Server (like mydomain.com
goes to the WAN-IP where the router is forwarding everything like port 25 or 443 directly to the exchange Server). This way I wouldn't have any problems I think: mydomain.com has a valid SSL cert, it resolves to my WAN-IP which forwards everything to the internal
Exchange Server. Now here is the problem: I plan to setup a SharePoint Server as well. I thought about using ARR (IIS) to make both available behind the same WAN-IP without using ports inside the url. Ideally the Exchange Server should then be available via
"mail.mydomain.com". This will work fine with ARR but then I probably have SSL problems again? (second question)
Do you have any ideas what I can do to solve such problems? Should I buy another certificate for mail.mydomain.com? But then I would need to buy several certificates (e.g. for autodiscover.mydomain.com to get this working as well). This can become very expensive...
    Thanks!
    Regards
    Christian

    Hi,
For your first question, if there is a single certificate just for “mydomain.com”, it cannot work for subdomain.mydomain.com.
Generally, antodiscover.domain.com is used to access the autodiscover service for external users. If you just need test users to access Exchange server from internal environment, it is not necessary to get a certificate for autodiscover.domain.com.
Therefore, for your second question what I can ensure is that if all URLs that used to connect Exchange from internal and external are configured to mail.mydomain.com with all services(IIS,SMTP,POP,IMAP), there will be no certificate problems in Exchange
    side.

  • SSRS 2012 Subscription Error in Test Environment

    Hi All,
I was trying to set-up Email Subscription for SSRS in my Test Environment using "Reporting Services Configuration Manager" and after providing SMTP server details. I was getting error "Failed to sent Email to [email protected]"
    What could be the reason?
I tried pining SMTP IP address from the Machine where SSRS installed and I was able to ping SMTP Server using CMD ping command.
Thanks Shiven:) If Answer is Helpful, Please Vote

    Hi All,
I found the issue. The IP address of Machine, where SSRS server installed, was not included in to the SMTP relay and that's why I was getting error "Failed
to sent Email to [email protected]".
Once my network team, added IP address, it started working fine.
Another thing I noticed, due to some reason SQL Server Agent was stopped and was not running and one
of my colleagues was trying to create new subscription and was getting error 'The SQL Agent service is not running. This operation requires the SQL Agent service. (rsSchedulerNotResponding)'.
Once I started SQL Server Agent, My colleague was able to create new subscription.

  • Office Web Apps Integration in a Test Environment

I am trying to test Office Web Apps in an Exchange 2013 test environment and therefore have setup my farm for HTTP only.  I have set the WAC Discovery End Point on the Exchange server and I can browse to the XML successfully however when I preview files
they are still being displayed using Web-Ready Document Viewer.  I have checked the Event Log and found event ids 140 and 141.
Event 141 lists the following error - There was a failure connecting to or otherwise retrieving Data from the Wac Discovery Service. We will fall back to stellent. Successfully retrieved configuration data from http://server01/hosting/discovery, but
retrieved discovery xml does not contain an external https net zone node.
Do I need to configure HTTPS with a certificate in order to get this working in a test environment or should it work with HTTP?
    Thanks

    Hi Luke,
Based on my research, I found some people solved this issue via resarting MBX server and CAS server on Exchange 2013 server.

  • Best Practice - Hardware requirements for exchange test environment

    Hi Experts,
I'm new to exchange and I want to have a test environment for learning, testing ,batches and updates.
In our environment we have co-existence 2010 and 2013 and I need to have a close scenario on my test environment.
I was thinking of having an isolated (not domain joined) high end workstation laptop with (quad core i7, 32GB RAM, 1T SSD) to implement the environment on it, but the management refused and replied "do it on one of the free servers within the live production
environment at the Data Center"... !
I'm afraid of doing so not to corrupt the production environment with any mistake by my configuration "I'm not that exchange expert who could revert back if something wrong happened".
Is there a documented Microsoft recommendation on how to do it and where to do so to be able to send it to them ??
OR/ Could someone help with the best practice on where to have my test environment and how to set it up??
    Many Thanks
    Mohamed Ibrahim

I think this may be useful:
It's their official test lab set up guide.
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/15392.test-lab-guide-install-exchange-server-2013.aspx
Also, your spec should be fine as long as you run the VMs within their means.

  • German Umlauts OK in Test Environment, Question Marks (??) in production

    Hi Sun Forums,
I have a simple Java application that uses JFrame for a window, a JTextArea for console output. While running my application in test mode (that is, run locally within Eclipse development environment) the software properly handles all German Umlauts in the JTextArea (also using Log4J to write the same output to file-- that too is OK). In fact, the application is flawless from this perspective.
However, when I deploy the application to multiple environments, the Umlauts are displayed as ??. Deployment is destined for Mac OS X (10.4/10.5) and Windows-based computers. (XP, Vista) with a requirement of Java 1.5 at the minimum.
On the test computer (Mac OS X 10.5), the test environment is OK, but running the application as a runnable jar, german umlauts become question marks ??. I use Jar Bundler on Mac to produce an application object, and Launch4J to build a Windows executables.
I am setting the default encoding to UTF-8 at the start of my app. Other international characters treated OK after deployment (e, a with accents). It seems to be localized to german umlaut type characters where the app fails.
I have encoded my source files as UTF-8 in Eclipse. I am having a hard time understanding what the root cause is. I suspect it is the default encoding on the computer the software is running on. If this is true, then how do I force the application to honor german umlauts?
    Thanks very much,

So you start with a string called "input"; where did that come from? As far as we know, it could already have been corrupted. ByteBuffer inputBuffer = ByteBuffer.wrap( input.getBytes() ); Here you convert the string to to a byte array using the default encoding. You say you've set the default to UTF-8, but how do you know it worked on the customer's machine? When we advise you not to rely on the default encoding, we don't mean you should override that system property, we mean you should always specify the encoding in your code. There's a getBytes() method that lets you do that.
CharBuffer data = utf8charset.decode( inputBuffer ); Now you decode the byte[] that you think is UTF-8, as UTF-8. If getBytes() did in fact encode the string as UTF-8, this is a wash; you just wasted a lot of time and ended up with the exact same string you started with. On the other hand, if getBytes() used something other than UTF-8, you've just created a load of garbage. ByteBuffer outputBuffer = iso88591charset.encode( data );Next you create yet another byte array, this time using the ISO-8859-1 encoding. If the string was valid to begin with, and the previous steps didn't corrupt it, there could be characters in it that can't be encoded in ISO-8859-1. Those characters will be lost.
    byte[] outputData = outputBuffer.array();
return new String( outputData ); Finally, you decode the byte[] once more, this time using the default encoding. As with getBytes(), there's a String constructor that lets you specify the encoding, but it doesn't really matter. For the previous steps to have worked, the default had to be UTF-8. That means you have a byte[] that's encoded as ISO-8859-1 and you're decoding it as UTF-8. What's wrong with this picture?
This whole sequence makes no sense anyway; at best, it's a huge waste of clock cycles. It looks like you're trying to change the encoding of the string, which is impossible. No matter what platform it runs on, Java always uses the same encoding for strings. That encoding is UTF-16, but you don't really need to know that. You should only have to deal with character encodings when your app communicates with something outside itself, like a network or a file system.
What's the real problem you're trying to solve?

  • Problem in test environment in RFC2WS service (worked in DEV)

    hello
I have RFC2WS sync scenario. every works ok in the dev environment. after import the interface to the test environment, I recieve this error below.
I also tryed to run the unitest and recieved and error in the IM stage that "root element expected" but I think it is ok, since this message I also recieved in the dev environment and as I said before, it is working as expected.
more over, if I take the measse from the sxmb_moni and run it in the MM it is successfully transfer to the WS.
I also tryed to refresh the cache and reimport the RFC and the interface and rewrite the scenario in the ID. any suggestions?

  • How to change parsing schema for using application in test environment?

    Hi,
I set up a test environment, i.e. an other Oracle schema with identical tables, views etc. to the productive environment. I wanted to duplicate the APEX application so that there will be a test version using the test Oracle schema and productive version using the productive oracle schema.
Can some one please give me some tip how to do this? As far as I see i could change the parsing schema in the APEX Application install SQL in the following ways:
    1. While exportin the application with APEX
    2. In the result install f...sql file using search-replace
    3. While importing the APEX application via APEX Development GUI.
I would prefere 1. or 3. but in both cases when I would like to change the schema name, the drop dowl list does not contain the test Oracle schema name. Do I have to grant something to the APEX worksspace schema for the test schema name to show up in the drop dowl list?
    Tamás

    On that screen,
    - click Create
    - select "Existing" Schema, click Next
    - select the Workspace, click Next
    - select the Schema, click Next
    - click Add Schema
And now you'll end up with two schema's attached for the same Workspace.

  • Video playback issues in Captivate 6 swf when viewed in testing environment

I've created a training video from a company template in Captivate 6 and produced a swf file. It plays from my local machine and has been tested by others from our SharePoint portal. I uploaded the project through to our Team Foundation Server in order for it to be included and pushed to our testing environment. However, when viewed, no content populates; just a blank white screen.
Has anyone ever come across this or perhaps know a workaround?
Any and all help would greatly be appreciated.
    Thanks-

If your Team Foundation server is a LAN server and not a web server then your issue is most likely to be Flash Global Security.
Please see this page for reasons and resolutions:

  • Steps to Restore Production DB to Test Environment?

    Hi All,
I encountered a difficulty on restoring a production DB to a test environment on BPC (Microsoft) and would like to seek everyone assistance on how to do it,
so far the steps that I did,
    1. Installed fresh BPC APP and DB with different set of hostname than prod.
    2. verify the fresh installation BPC APP and DB is working
    3. restore the AppServer DB from production to newly created BPC DB
    4. update record in AppServer in BPC DB to point into this hostname, since restoration of the AppServer DB will point to the production hostname
    5. restore our BPC Database e.g. BPC from production to newly created BPC DB.
until this step then I hit issue that BPC DB can't be updated, it able to load the template but the unable to update the record.
any pointer on how to fix this error?
    Thank you,
    Regards,
    Ura

    Hi Ura,
first of all I see you have a lot of opened questions. Please remember that is your duty to close the discussion when solved showing the "corrrect answer" this will help in future other users with same issue, see please How to close a discussion and why
Regard to the question you should give more informations about your systems and bpc version installed on these, in the meanwhile you can look at these linkw about backup to verify if they give you a hint.

  • Envirnment set up - TEST ,DEVL,PROD

How to set my server environment as Test,Development,Production.
    Example:
In IBM websphere we have enviroment variables to set in server configration from admin.
Similiraly this is can be set in weblogic.
This is first time am working with OC4J server,so i need to set the environment some how and make my web application read config.properties file.
    Example:
If my server environment is Testing server then test_config.properties file to be read.
    I have devl_config.properties,prod_config.properties similiarly.
Experts ,suggest me how this can be done in OC4J ?

in oracle application server, all middle tier processes are managed by OPMN.
When you start middle tier you issue an "opmnctl start" command.
So, inspect the opmn.xml file (this file has the startup configuration for all managed processes - OC4J instances, HTTP server, WebCache ,etc).
you can make 3 opmn.xml files (opmn_test.xml, opmn_devl.xml, opmn_prod.xml), when you want to start with ,say, devl environment, you change opmn_devl.xml to opmn.xml and start middletier ...
Don't know if oracle application server has this implemented by another mechanism :(
    Best Regards

  • Lync test environment on 2 servers

    Hi Techies.
i have recently been setting up a lync test environment in virtualbox succesfully, now i want to do it on physical hardware.
    reqs.
    - must be installed on only 2 servers with 3 nics each (1 for ILO)
    - must contain: AD DC, AD CA, Lync FE and Lync Mediation server
my question is mostly if i can install the the AD and mediation serrver on the same OS? as this would solve my problem.
I already know that AD can be installed on same machine as FE.
i want the setup to be something like:
AD+mediation: 1. NIC = connected to 192.168.1.xx, 2. NIC = public IP (for SIP trunk), 3. NIC = ILO (remote installation)
LYNC FE: 1. NIC = connected to 192.168.1.xx, 2. NIC = not connected, 3. NIC = ILO (remote installation)
anyone know if this is possible?

    Hi,
Lync roles are not supported for collocation with a Domain Controller, this includes front-end, mediation and any other Lync role.
That said, several people were able to achieve such collocation (like http://itbasedtelco.wordpress.com/2012/02/04/installing-lync-on-a-domain-controller/)
but be aware you would be running an unsupported configuration and not guaranteed to work.
