one can use a most efficient method of changing looks of table data by overidding prepareRenderer() method of JTable. this method returns a component which JTable uses to display a cell. a solution could be

Hi,
In addition to setting DO_SUM = 'X' you need to specify function in H_FTYPE field. It should be set to 'AVG' in your case.
ls_fielcat-do_sum = 'X'.

How to set default values for boolean columns

I'm trying to deploy some content types and columns into a site with a feature. All it's ok, except that I'm trying to set a default value for boolean columns with no success.
I've tried to set default value at column level:

But in any case, when i create a new item with this content type, default value is applied.

columns in JTable.If i understand you correctly, you want to have a scrollbar for every column. If so, you will need a new instance of JTable and JScrollPane for every column, but that's a lot of work if you want to do it fancy.
The good news, is you can reuse the table model.
You could do something like that.
for (int i= 0; i < model.getColumnCount(); i++) {
    JTable table = new JTable();
    table.setAutoCreateColumnsFromModel(false);
   //container
    someContainer.add(new ScrollPane(table), null/* or some layout constrains*/);
    TableColumn tc = new TableColumn(i, 120);

    table.addColumn(tc);

Howto set tool tip for a row in JTable

I want to set a seperate tool tip for each of the rows in JTable. I tried getting cell renderer of all columns in a row and then setting tool tip for them. I expected that setting tool tip for a cell renderer will set tool tip for that cell. Thus setting tool tip for all the cells in a row will indirectly set tool tip for that row. But it does not happen that way. By setting a tool tip for a renderer it will use that tool tip for all those cells which use that renderer.
Is there any problem in my approach or we cannot do this in Java.

}I think this would be a bit nicer and slightly faster approach because as far as I understand the getToolTipText() method is called after a similar MouseEvent for every JComponent i.e. a small pause of cursor movement over the component in question. I admit that I haven't tested either approach myself but noticed that JTable actually overrides the getToolTipText( MouseEvent e) method already. In your code you determine and set the tooltip every time the mouse moves. If you override getToolTipText( MouseEvent e) you have to determine the tooltip text only when the tooltip is actually about to be shown.

say there is a JTable with 2 columns... Col1 having 5 rows and column 2 having 2 rows...

How about nesting JTables with 1 row and many columns in a JTable with 1 column and many rows.
Or you could leave the extra columns null/blank.
You could use a GridBagLayout and put a panel in each group of cells and not use JTable at all.
It would help if you were more specific about how you wanted it to appear and behave.

Set CrossTab Background for missing values

I am using CR XI (ver 11.0.0.895) and I have several crosstabs that I would like to add formatting to alternate background color for either columns or rows to increase the readability of the crosstab.
I have had relatively good success by inserting the following code in the background property of the summary field and either the row or column.

I am having difficulties with areas of a few cross-tabs where no data exists leaving blank placeholders in the cross tab where the conditional formatting does not apply.
I have tried the following code in the display string property of the summary field but it had no effect:
If IsNull(CurrentFieldValue) = True then '!' else CurrentFieldValue
Is there any way to force the placeholder to become a valid target for the conditional formatting that I have enabled?

In Pages, how can I set a background for the whole document?

I tend to regard Pages as more of a page layout program than a simple word processor, so I use it for stuff containing graphics as well as text. Now I want to put a kind of frame around every page in the document, and I want this frame to be effectively a background for everything else, with it being my responsibility for the remainder of the material to stay in the frame. I can't see any feature that allows this apart from Headers and Footers, and as far as I can see, these are not supposed to occupy the whole page, just the top and bottom.
Can anyone give a good technique for configuring a background in this way?

This forum has helped me to partially answer my own question, in that I see now that I want to create a template with a section master that contains my graphic. But when I tried to do this, the menus for making a graphic (in my case a grouped item) part of a section master just didn't work. I am trying to follow the Help page "Using Master Objects (Repeated Background Images), but so far I can't get the menus to undim.

Setting default values for a column

Hi,
I have a table having some default values for the columns. I am using a PreparedStatment to insert into this table. For null values I am using setNull(..) method but the default values given for the columns are not inserted for null values.
eg: INSERT INTO TEST VALUES(?,?);
where TEST table contains two columns col1 and col2 with default values 'AA' and 'BB' respectively. My requirement is to make sure that when null values are specified for the columns then the database default should be picked up. using setNull(..) method doesn't help.

Default value for a column can be picked up from DatabaseMetaData class.

Setting background for single row in JTable

Hi,
I have a table which uses the DefaultCellRenderer for cols0,1,3-5
while column 2 uses a custom renderer.
When user right clicks mouse on one of the rows i get the rowindex and colindex selected and tries to set background color for this row. but the whole table get painted(of course except 2nd column)...rather i need just the row to be colored.....any solution is greatly appreciated.the code is below....

Setting cell editor for individual cell in JTable

I want to provide individual cell editor for my JTable. Basically, my JTable shows property names and values. I want to show different cell editors for different properties.

but I have a question:
I looked at the code of DefaultCellEditor. It just has a single editor component (the one provided in the constructor), so all the methods use the same component and certain aspects are customized for the type of component. Again, there can be only one type of component at a time.The problem that I am facing is that I will have different components for different row/column of the same table. So how do I implement some of the methods (for example, getCellEditorValue()), when I have multiple editor components?
Also, how do I commit changes made by the user?
I am extremely confused.
