Setting an iView's Name Using PDK

Hi folks,
Does anyone know if I can <b>set</b> the name of an iView from code? We're migrating some applications from another portal environment where we were able to set the name that's displayed in the component's heading and I'd like to know if it's possible to do the same thing within EP6.
Cheers
Mal.

Thanks Tsachi, I think this is very useful and it certainly has opened another train of thought for other uses.
On a similar topic, we have been discussing the best way to handle configuring our iViews and I'd be keen to hear anyone's thoughts on this matter. I'll give some context; forgive me if this gets a bit long...
With our existing Plumtree portlets, we have the ability to configure settings using a separate web page. Typically, we will store these settings in a separate database for the portlet application, because there'll be relationships we need to maintain between content items that are displayed in the portlet. So the configuration screen is a separate web page (could be a component in EP6 if need be), that is accessed via a URL that is specified during registration of the portlet. The URL is accessed through a drop-down menu option in the portlet's heading, much the same as the Personalize option is displayed for an iView in EP6.
What I'd like to be able to do is either add a link to the drop-down menu for an iView that will allow us to launch this configuration URL, or to change the default page that is launched in the Personalize link so that it goes to our own configuration page.
Can this be done and if so, how? I presume it would require some Java programming and portal-side configuration...?
Many thanks,
Mal.

  • Page personalization - Use limited set of iViews to choose from

    Hi,
    I have the following requirement:
    We want users to have a single page they can personalize, by providing them a selection of iViews.
    Normally when you are presented the Personalize Page window, you see all the folders and content the user has access to, due to his/her role assignment
    However, we want to display only a subset of the user's role content by providing only a single folder with all content to choose from to personalize this page
    Is there a way to hide folders and content the user normally has access to (since it is visible through the non-personalizable pages) and only display a folder and it's content in the pcd browser?
    Any input would be highly appreciated
    Thanks in advance,
    Robin van het Hof

    Hi Michael,
    Thanks for your quick reply
    The user also has end-user access to other iViews/pages etc since otherwise he would not be able to see them on other portal pages
    However, I want just a dedicated set of iViews, analog to the EP5 'channel' concept
    Is there a way to mimic this behaviour?

  • Unable to get Windows User Name using Oracle Forms 6i, Jinitiator 1.3.1.17

    Hi,
    Requirement: Get Windows User Name using Oracle Web Forms 6i.
    Tools Using: Windows NT, Oracle web forms 6i, Oracle 10g DB.
    Description: I am using GetClientInfo JBean from otn.oracle.com, which gets windows user name, IP address and machine name. The demo I got from oracle web site uses Jinitiator version 1.1.7.18. While we are using the latest version Jinitiator 1.3.1.17. Due to this reason, I am unable to use Javakey which comes with older version but doesn't come with newer version, that's why I can't create the new JavaBean Java identity (PJC).
    Please advise what to do. All environment variables are set everything is done, this is the only thing bothering me.
    I went through the article 202768.1 from metalink, but on step 5, it gives an error keytool error: java.lang.Exception: Input not an X.509 Certificate.
    Also, please let me know if there is any other workaround for this requirement.
    Thanks & Best Regards,

    Hi,
    Thanks for your kind reply. Actually there was a problem in creating a certificate, now it is okay with the same method. Certificate got imported on client and everything is ready.
    Now, the problem is when I try to set Bean Area Implementation Class property with oracle.forms.demos.GetClientInfo, it gives an error FRM-13008 Cannot find JavaBean with name 'oracle.forms.demos.GetClientInfo'.
    I went through the articles 1072329.6, 196824.1, and set ClassPath and Path variables with proper values. Also, I have copied jar file and signature file in forms60/java folder. I don't see any problems. Please let me know what I am doing wrong. My limitation is that I have to do all this in forms6i.
    I searched forums on metalink and found out that someone installed Patch 15, and everything went okay for him. Do you think I should install Patch 15? if YES, how will I do it, I mean should I first uninstall my forms and then install patch15 or install the patch on my forms?
    Thanks so much for your help.

  • How to set JMS Header Property without using DynamicConfiguration.

    Hi,
    My Scenario is: PDF File -->XI -->JMS
    I need to send the PDF file as it is to JMS receiver, which shouldn't be a problem. The problem is I need to set the same file name in the Receiver JMS header property.
    So to do this I am using DynamicConfiguration in message mapping but when File Adapter picks the PDF file (as it is) I get the run time mapping error which is quite obvious since message mapping expects the data in xml format.
    Do you have any idea if I can avoid the message mapping and set the Dynamic Configuration somewhere else (not sure if java mapping can help here) or if there is some Module available to set file name in JMS header.
    Note: PDF File name is dynamic.
    Thanks!

  • Can I use the Registry to change the Login Name used in Note Tool?

    If adding notes in browser-based review, you cannot edit the Author name used in the note tool. Its uses the fixed Windows login name shown in Edit > Preferences > Identity.
    If you turn off the "Always use Log-in name for Author name" setting, the Author can be changed when adding notes in Acrobat itself, but the Author is fixed to the Windows login name in browser-based review.
    Therefore, I was wondering if anyone knows if this can be changed in the Registry? I've found the login field name here (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\9.0\Annots\cAnnots\cAnnot\tauthor) but it unfortunately does not update the Author field.

    Good afternoon!
    You can replicate this in Acrobat 8 as follows:
    - In Acrobat / Edit Preferences / Commenting, turn off "Always use Log-in Name for Author Name"
    - Open a PDF in Acrobat > Add a Note > Right-click Properties > General tab > Rename the Author to "TESTING" > Click "Make Properties Default" > Click OK
    - Set up a Network Folder Online Comments Repository as follows: In Acrobat / Edit Preferences / Reviewing, set Server Type to "Network Folder" and browse for a folder to save comments to.
    - Open Registry and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\8.0\Annots\cAnnots\cAnnot\tauthor
    - tauthor should be showing "TESTING" that we entered earlier
    - Open a browser window and drag a PDF into it
    - Add a Note, the Author name is fixed to be the Windows Login name.

  • Problem using pdk-html:multibox and pdk-html:checkbox

    Hi all,
    I am developing a PDK struts application using OC4J 10.1.2. I have to create some form pages which are going to have some checkboxes. I have tried to follow the following code in order to use the pdk version of the checkbox in my form:
    in jsp file
    <logic:iterate id="item" property="items">
    <pdk-html:multibox property="selectedItems">
    <bean:write name="item"/>
    </pdk-html:multibox>
    <bean:write name="item"/>
    </logic:iterate>
    Given an ActionForm setup like this
    private String[] selectedItems = {};
    private String[] items = {"UPS","FedEx","Airborne"};
    public String[] getSelectedItems() {
    return this.selectedItems;
    public void setSelectedItems(String[] selectedItems) {
    this.selectedItems = selectedItems;
    ....... //getters and setters of items//
    In the reset method I also reinitialize the selectedItems array like :
    selectedItems=new String[]{};
    But the value of the multibox is not reflected in the action class. To my surprise, the html code generated by the server is similar to ordinary checkbox which ideally should carry some portlet specific information like pdk-html:text
    Same is the case with single checkbox. I have created a boolean variable for the single checkbox in the actionForm class. But same problem frustrates me again. The value is not passed simply.
    Can anybody comment. Is this some kind of a bug or may be there is no support for checkbox and multibox in pdkstruts.jar (10.1.2.0.2).
    Best regards,
    Omer

  • Search Annotation by its Name Using Javascript

    Hi
    my requirement is to find the annotation using its Annotation name using Javascript
    i.e by entering the Annotation name in my user interface  created by javascript it should set focus to that particular annotation

    I don't think it's possible to do that exactly. You can search for the annotation, but you can't select it. However, you can switch the document to the page where the annotation is located.

  • How to specify table name using xdoclet

    Hi
    I'm trying to specify a table name using xdoclet 1.2.
    I've tried the @sql.table, but that ain't working (no table mapping name is
    writen to the *.jdo)
    I've tried using the @jdo.class-vendor-extension with key=table and
    value=tablename, but that ain't working either.
    I guess number two approach ain't working because kodo want table name
    extension inside another extension like this:
    <extension vendor-name="kodo" key="jdbc-class-map" value="base">
    <extension vendor-name="kodo" key="table" value="tablename"/>
    </extension>
    But, how do I specify the above using xdoclet?
    Regards
    Jesper

    Ok.
    Is it possible somehow to just tell kodo to use another table name without
    having to create mapping extensions for collections and stuff. Even better
    if one could specify a table name prefix to be used on all tables.
    My problem is that I need use kodo on an existing database having tables
    names that conflict with kodo's auto-generated tables names. The schematool
    will then try alter these tables :-(

    When you use metadata mapping extensions, you should not generate
    .mapping files as all that info is stored in the .jdo file. You should
    instead set kodo.jdbc.MappingFactory to metadata.

    However, I still can't get it to work.
    I've created a java class named Role with xdoclet like this:
    * @jdo.persistence-capable
    * @jdo.class-vendor-extension
    * vendor-name="kodo" key="jdbc-class-map" value="base"
    * @jdo.class-vendor-extension
    * vendor-name="kodo" key="jdbc-class-map/table" value="BW_ROLE"
    * @jdo.class-vendor-extension
    * vendor-name="kodo" key="jdbc-class-map/pk-column" value="JDOID"
    Xdoclet generates a jdo file like this:
    <jdo>
    <package name="dk.pine.users.services.model">
    <class name="Role"
    identity-type="datastore"
    <!-- end class tag --><extension vendor-name="kodo"
    key="jdbc-class-map"
    value="base">
    </extension>
    <extension vendor-name="kodo"
    key="jdbc-class-map/table"
    value="BW_ROLE">
    </extension>
    <extension vendor-name="kodo"
    key="jdbc-class-map/pk-column"
    value="JDOID">
    </extension>
    <field name="users"
    default-fetch-group="true"
    <!-- end field tag --><collection
    element-type="dk.pine.users.services.model.User"
    embedded-element="false"
    <!-- end collection tag --></collection>
    <extension vendor-name="kodo"
    key="inverse-owner"
    value="roles">
    </extension>
    </field>
    </class>
    </package>
    </jdo>
    Now I run the mappingtool (with option refresh) and it generates a
    mapping
    file like this:
    <mapping>
    <package name="dk.pine.users.services.model">
    <class name="Role">
    <jdbc-class-map type="base" pk-column="JDOID"
    table="dbo.ROLE0"/>
    <jdbc-version-ind type="version-number"column="JDOVERSION"/>
    <jdbc-class-ind type="in-class-name" column="JDOCLASS"/>
    <field name="description">
    <jdbc-field-map type="value" column="DESCRIPTION"/>
    </field>
    <field name="name">
    <jdbc-field-map type="value" column="NAME0"/>
    </field>
    <field name="systemRole">
    <jdbc-field-map type="value" column="SYSTEMROLE"/>

    <field name="users">
    <jdbc-field-map type="many-many"
    element-column.JDOID="JDOID" ref-column.JDOID="ROLES_JDOID"
    table="dbo.USER0_ROLES"/>
    </field>
    </class>
    </package>
    </mapping>
    I expected it to create a BW_ROLE, but it create a ROLE0 table????

    You can use slashes to denote sub extensions.
    See the example near the bottom of this link:

  • Set Caption as File Name?

    Sometimes people send me photos I want in my library, and those images are named with a string of text that would be a suitable caption. I've got a fair number of these images now, and I'd like to know if there is a batch way of changing the caption on those images from being blank to the file name.
    In other words, if I have a bunch of files named "1973 Summer Trip to Las Vegas.jpg", etc., but with no metadata (blank caption, etc.), is there a way to automatically set the captions as the names of the file? I know that it is trivial to rename the file or version, and I'll do that once I've saved the present file name into the caption field.
    Many thanks in advance for you help.

    "tImg" is just a variable holding an image version id. You'll note that it shows up coloured green in Script Editor like other variables.
    "tCap" in that script is a variable used to hold the value we want to put into the caption. So we set it to the name and then set the caption to it.
    A good starting point for getting the AppleScript names of different tags is:
    tell application "Aperture"
    set selectedImages to the selection
    get every IPTC tag of item 1 of selectedImages
    end tell
    Replace 'IPTC' with 'EXIF' to get a list of EXIF tag names, with 'custom' for your own tags you've added plus the timezone names, and 'other' for some other stuff like filename, pixel sizes, main rating etc. Note that in all cases the script will only list the names for tags that apply to the image - so an image with no IPTC data will return no tag names.
    A couple of good places to get started with AppleScript and Aperture:

  • Content of iview disappear when using imbedded isolation method

    Hi
    I have a strange problem with one of me iviews....
    I have developed an iview that uses marquee html tag in order to show moving text in a left to right direction.
    I set the Iview isolation method to url and added it to a page, the problem is whenever I choose the text inside I get a scroll bar that hides some of the text.
    In order to get rid of the scroll bar I changed the iview isolation method to imbedded but then the content of the iview disappear for some users.
    I guess it has to do with explorer definitions , because on my explorer I can view the iview content.
    I have compared all explorer definitions between me and the user that cant view content but still he and some others cant view content.
    do any of u have some suggestions???
    Thanks

    Hi Harish,
    If you are looking in for some javascript code just see if this can help you.
    <script language="Javascript">
    function ToPrint() {
    self.print();
    </script>
    and the button define it as
    <hbj:button
    id="Print"
    text="Print"
    tooltip="Print"
    onClientClick="ToPrint()"
    design="STANDARD" />
    This should print the contents. Instead of window.print(), self.print() should work.
    Hope this helps,

  • Setting drag and drop components using script

    Hi,
    Is there a way to set the drag object name and target name of
    the Drag and Drop component using actionscript? I have looked
    through the help files and there is no mention of how to do this. I
    cannot find any methods relating to the Learning Interactions

    object/target pairs and stores them in an array. I need to be able
    to read these values and plug them into the component at runtime.
    Any ideas?

  • How to set up iViews?

    Is there documentation on how to step by step set up iViews for BOXI 3.1?  I am not SAP literate yet, so I am not sure what I am even looking for.  The SAP Integration Kit says iView templates are part of the install...just don't know where or what exactly I am looking for.  Are they located in a directory?  I see mention of something re: PAR files...where are these located.
    Any guidance is appreciated.

    Hi,
    Please go through these blogs by Ingo. They give you all the information .
    You should import com.businessobjects.pct.masteriview.par and com.businessobjects.pct.sap_pik.epa file. Once you import you can use Business object iView template to create a report iview. You need to create a System object of this.
    if you just want infoview then create an url iview with the url as below.
    http://<BOBJhost>:<port>/InfoViewApp.

    BusinessObjects and SAP - Installation and Configuration Part 2 of 4
