Setting business component configurations globally

We have a couple of AppModules in the new project I am working on, and we would like to set some of the Configuration Properties values for them all and for any subsequent AppModules we create. We can do this by using the configuration dialog individually for each one, but this is tedious and prone to be forgotten for new AppModules. The specific property I have in mind is to set jbo.locking.mode from the default value of "pessimistic" to "optimistic", and there are a couple of other properties we will probably also like to set to some globally-applicable value. I cannot find anything in any documentation on- or off-line that tell how to set these values globally, either per project, per workspace or globally across all applications. Does anybody know how to do this?

This article on AM pooling parameters contains tips that explain how to achieve this using Java system parameters and by insuring that the parameters that you want to set via Java system parameters do not appear in your bc4j.xcfg files.

  • Setting up NWDI for E-Commerce 5.0 and getting" No component configured"

    Hi Experts,
    Our basis consultant recently installed NWDI. I am having trouble setting up a Track for our E-commerce development.
    If i try to save my track it gives the message "No component configured". When I try to setup my Runtime sytem and give the Development system name and  Message Server port, it gives the message " Message server could not be contacted".  Because of these errors it does not let me save any Track information.
    Domain  was not defined, so I defined a domain. But Please help in determining what other steps are still needed before i can create a track.
    Thanks in advance,
    Dips

    If anyone knows how to get a user-entered custom value from the item level to a custom java class, please let me know.
    I'm still looking into how to extend the quote and allow for the re-use of it, if all the quantity on the line item has not been exhausted.
    I can easily add a custom field to the header of a .jsp and access that user entered value by coding against the requestParser.
    Example: Parameter xxx = requestParser.getParameter("customerHeaderParm");
    But, when I add a customer parameter to the item level of the .jsp, I cannot leverage the same to code and get at the user entered value. The value comes back as null.
    The two files I am working with are as follows: orderstatusdetail.jsp and Z_DocumentStatusOrderQuotAction, which is an extension of the standard class, DocumentStatusOrderQuotAction.
    I am working with the requestParser within the ActionForward isaPerform() method of Z_DocumentStatusOrderQuotAction. I need to get to those item level values BEFORE the order is created from the quotation.

    I searched for this class, and it is supposed to be in uic.jar. However, when I opened that jar file it was not there. Did I set something up wrong, or is this a bug in jdeveloper?

    When I am trying to open a VO inside JDeveloper for editing. The issue appears only to be with the VO's, even the ones that were automatically created at the start of the tutorial. Other types of objects can be opened for editing without incident.

    Hi,
    the adf-config.xaml file is not created by default and not needed by default. you need this to define custom skins or ADF Security.
    For an example of adfs-config.xml doe skins see SRDemo sample app

  • Configuring Global Currencies in BI Apps 7.9.6 for EBS 11.5.10 Source

    Hi All,
    After reviewing the Configuring Common Areas and Dimensions section of the Oracle BI Applications document [Oracle Business Intelligence Applications Configuration Guide for Informatica PowerCenter Users Version 7.9.6 E14216-01|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14223_01/bia.796/e14216.pdf] I have a question regarding section +3.1.2 How to Configure Global Currencies+.
    Background
    OLTP Source: Oracle E-Business Suite 11.5.10
    OBI Apps: Financial Analytics 7.9.6
    We have 49 enabled Currencies and multiple Sets of Books (SOBs) each with a different Functional Currency and I am concerned with the limitations of the Global Currencies configuration within OBI Apps. From the documentation it states that:
       Global currencies. Oracle BI Applications provides three global currencies, which are the common currencies used by the Oracle Business Analytics Warehouse. I'm keen to know if the 3 standard Global Currencies can be extended by adding further custom parameters in the Source System Parameters e.g. $$GLOBAL4_CURR_CODE, $$GLOBAL5_CURR_CODE, etc. and corresponding Exchange Rate parameters $$GLOBAL4_RATE_TYPE, etc.
    From the documentation definition of Document, Local and Global currencies, the following configuration for the Global currencies does not make much sense:
    $$GLOBAL1_CURR_CODE (for the document currency).
    $$GLOBAL2_CURR_CODE (for the local currency).
    $$GLOBAL3_CURR_CODE (for the global currency).Presumably these should be the 3 standard Global Currency definitions. If so, I want to confirm that the Document and Local currencies get picked up automatically depending on your EBS configuration?
    Thanks for your time, all input greatly appreciated... and points duly awarded :-)
    Have a great day.
    Kind Regards,
    Gary.

    Hi,
    The 3 Global currency codes are different from functional , local currency.
    All the transactions are brought into the warehouse and there is no limitation to the number of currencies that can be brought in but for reporting purpose you want to convert all these transactions in multiple currencies to a single currency ...lets say US$ and at a monthly rate or GBP at a spot rate etc..
    So in a nutshell the document and local currenclies do come in and there is no configuration needed but translation to a global reporting currency and the rates at which its converted is determined by what you provide in DAC.. the conversion is done by mplt_currency_conversion which is present in each and every fact mapping.

  • Why business component does not support generics method parameter

    Hi Folks,
    I have created a business component and in this business component I have added a public method which takes a parameter - List of map (Like List<Map<String, String>> inputListOfMap). Now when I try to run the artifacts for this business component it gives an error
    ERROR
    com.splwg.shared.common.LoggedException: No method declaration for createListElements found matching argument types [List, Element, String, String] with pattern public\s+(final\s+)?(<[^>]*>\s+)?([\w\.]+)\s*(<[\w<>,\s\.]+>)?\s+createListElements\s*\(\s*((\w*\.)+)?(List)(\<[^\>]*\>)?\s+\w+,\s*((\w*\.)+)?(Element)(\<[^\>]*\>)?\s+\w+,\s*((\w*\.)+)?(String)(\<[^\>]*\>)?\s+\w+,\s*((\w*\.)+)?(String)(\<[^\>]*\>)?\s+\w+\s*\)\s*(throws [^\{]+\s*)?[;\{]
    After checking the spl-tool2.2.0 jar class JavaSourceFile.java i am guessing that such method parameters are not supported. It compiles well if its a simple Map or List. Also works fine if I make the method as private. But in this case I cannot use this method from any other class... which I don't want.
    it would be great help if anyone can suggest what needs to be done to overcome this issue
    Following is the method of Business Component
    public void createListElements(List<Map<String, String>> inputListOfMap, Element sourceElement, String groupName, String listElementName) {
              logger.info("createListElements ");
              Element groupElement = null;
              Element listElement = null;
              if(!isBlankOrNull(groupName)){
                   groupElement = sourceElement.addElement(groupName);
              if(notNull(inputListOfMap) && inputListOfMap.size()>0){
                   for (Map<String, String> inputMap : inputListOfMap) {
                        //If group name is provided then put the list element will be within the group element else within the bill element
                        if(notNull(groupElement))
                             listElement = groupElement.addElement(listElementName);
                        else
                             listElement = sourceElement.addElement(listElementName);
                        for (Map.Entry<String, String> mapEntry : inputMap.entrySet()) {
                             String elementName = mapEntry.getKey();
                             String elementValue = mapEntry.getValue();
                             if(notBlank(elementName) && notBlank(elementValue)){
                                  listElement.addElement(elementName).addText(elementValue);
         }

    Hi Victor,
    the issue is that the archive pool in your NWDS is not set up properly. Could you check the configuration of the development configuration? I guess you are developing in Local Development, right? Please check in the "Component Browser" that the two Software Components "NWMCLIENT" and "XOCA" are present and contain some DCs inside them. If this is not true, than something went wrong with your setup of the IDE. The modifications of the default.confdef are most likely not right.
    Please come back to me if you don´t know how to proceed.
    Regards,
    Stefan

  • FPM: Error while creating component Configuration

    Hi,

  • Component Configuration in webdynpro for abap

    Hi Experts,
    I have created a component configuration for a webdyn pro component.
    When i create this configuration a tab "COMPONENT DEFINED" is not getting enabled.
    Please tell me why it is not getting enabled and what is the actual use of this tab.

    Hi Archana
    Create a context node in your custom controller which is configuration controller and activate the component.
    You will now able to see the Component-Defined tab enabled, where you can set the values to the context attributes which are defined in your configurable custom controller.
    Thanks

  • Issue with "firstRecord" Business Component method of JAVA Data bean API.

    Hi,
    Following is my use-case scenario:
    I have to add or associate child MVG business component (CUT_Address)
    with the parent business component (Account) using JAVA Data bean API.
    My requirement is: first to check whether child business component(i.e. CUT_address) exists. If it exists then associate it with parent business component (Account)
    otherwise create new CUT_address and associate it with account.
    Code (using JAVA Data bean APIs) Goes as follows:
    SiebelBusObject sBusObj = connBean.getBusObject("Account");
    parentBusComp = sBusObj.getBusComp("Account");
    SiebelBusComp parentBusComp;
    SiebelBusComp childBusComp;
    // retrieve required account.. Please assume Account1 exists
    parentBusComp.activateField("Name");
    parentBusComp.clearToQuery();
    parentBusComp.setSearchSpec("Name", "Account1");
    sBusComp.executeQuery2(true, true);
    sBusComp.firstRecord();
    Counter = 0;
    while (counter < Number_Of_Child_Records_To_Insert)
    childBusComp = parentBusComp.getMVGBusComp("City");
    associatedChildBusComp = childBusComp.getAssocBusComp();
    childBusComp.activateField("City");
    childBusComp.clearToQuery();
    childBusComp.setSearchSpec("City", Vector_of_city[counter]);
    sBusComp.executeQuery2(true, true);
    if( sBusComp.firstRecord() )
    // Child already exist and do processing accordingly
    else
    // Child does not exist and do processing accordingly
    childBusComp.release();
    childBusComp = null;
    associatedChildBusComp.release();
    associatedChildBusComp=null;
    Now the issue with this code is: For the first iteration, SbusComp.firstRecord returns 0 if records does not exist. However from the second iteration, SbusComp.firstRecord returns 1 even if there is no record matching the search specification.
    Any input towards the issue is highly appreciable.
    Thanks,
    Rohit.

    Setting the view mode to "AllView" helped.
    Thanks for the lead!
    In the end, I also had to invoke the business component method SetAdminMode with "true" as the argument so that I could also modify the records from my script.

  • FPM - How to change the title in a component configuration

    Hello,
    I am working with the component configuration EHHSS_INC_REC_NRM_QAF_V3 (version 7.31) and I need to change the title of the tab. I created an OTR with the text "Report Near Miss test". I changed the application title and I also change the tooltip text in the IDR to this OTR.
    When I executed it, I only see the modication on the tooltip. Why the application title is not shown with the modification? How can I modify also the tab and the title?
    Thank you for your help!
    Marie-Josée

    Hello,
    Thank you for your time. The application configuration is link to the business object EHHSS_INCIDENT...I did not find a view. I do not have a lot of experience in FPM so can you show me how? I looked in BOPF but I am not able to do it with an enhancement

  • How to setup new OC4J instance to host jdev business component (EJB)

    From Jdeveloper 9.0.3 I want to deploy a business component to an new oc4j instance running under 9ias version 9.0.3.
    In jdeveloper I have built and tested an application server connection (type=Oracle Application Sever Remote DCM) to my new oc4j instance on 9ias. My understanding is that the jdeveloper deployment profile wizard will help me construct a profile to build what is known as an "EJB session bean".
    Using EmWebSite, I have created and started the new oc4j instance, and i constructed a datasource to be used for the database connection.
    Is there anything else that I will need to do to the new 9ias oc4j instance prior to building the deployment profile in jdeveloper, and then running the deployment? For instance, does this new oc4j instance somehow have the necessary hooks in it to support this bc4j component? Do I need to install any missing jar files? Do I need to define rmi ports ? Do I need to configure BC4J support?
    BTW ... I have tried to pursue this topic from the Jdeveloper side but the support personnel are not familar with 9ias 903, nor are they familar with 9ias Remote DCM deployment.

    Yes, you should be able to deploy an BC4J application without making any other changes to an IAS instance. For standalone OC4J please look at http://otn.oracle.com/products/jdev/htdocs/config_oc4j_for_bc4j.html

  • Component Configuration in Webdynpro ABAP

    Hello,
    I created a Webdynpro ABAP Application which works fine . Then I created a Component Configuration to hide a particular UI Element . Now how can I test it? Also I tried creating a iview on Portal and point to the Application name and Configuration name but still that UI Element shows up.
    What is the right way of doing this.?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    To test the web Dynpro Configuration
    1) Right click the web dynpro component and select the Create/Change configuration item
    2) A new application configuration window opens in that window give your Web Dynpro component name and in the Configuration id give a Name for your configuration and save it
    3) After saving a new window opens with list of created configuration find your config file and select it and click on the go to configuration button
    4) Here you will find the component name and Configuration id which we have already given
    5) Choose change button here you will see Attribute, Component Defined and Web dynpro built-in tabs
    6) select the context attribute which you have created in the custom controller with type boolean and set it to false to hide it
    save the configuration and test it.
    Note: To test the Configuration an configured application will be created under the web dynpro application right click and select test.
