Setting input field restrictions.

without using a text box component, is it possible to add
restrictions to a basic input field?
Basically I have this input field and I would like to
restrict the value to be >= 1000. So when a user enters a
number, it must be between 1000-100,000.
Also how do I set a minimum and maximum number of characters
for the field?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Any suggestions?

  • Setting input fields to an empty string BIG PROBLEM

    Hi Rob, thanks for your rerply, It makes sense alright, but I am using 2 seperate input fields. I have discovered what is causing the problem .
    After the user types into the inputfield and moves on to a different frame, I have set the input field to an empty string and this is what is causing the problem.
    I have tried setting the input field to an empty string in a movie script and on individual sprites and the first right answer is not excepted.I have to type in the right answer twice to get get a right response. I am actually using three seperate input fields in total, each with a different name and behavior. Even If I use one input field I still have the same problem. Its driving me crazey. Any Ideas.

    I believe that the FIM Service always does trims on string, so you may be out of luck.
    What is your scenario / what are you trying to accomplish by setting a space in an attribute? A space is not an empty string in my definition.

  • How to set focus on invisible input field?

    Hi Guys,
    I need an invisible input field and have to set an input focus on it. My problem is that if I set input field’s property visible=blank, I get my invisible field <b>BUT</b> the function call doesn’t work (setInput.requestFocus()).
    I suppose that I can’t set a focus if an input field is invisible.
    Does somebody know how can I solve my problem? Is there a possibility to do this input field invisible with java script? If yes, how does it work in Web Dynpro?
    Thanks
    Marita

    Hi
      Setting a focus on invisible input field will not work even if you follow the method what sowjanya has suggested. The method wdThis.wdGetAPI().requestFocus() will not work for read-only and disabled fields.
    By the way why do you want to set the focus on a invisible input field. If you can tell us the requirement maybe we could think of an alternate solution. But i guess for the current scenario setting focus on invisible input field does not work.

  • How to restrict the user to enter only numeric values in a input field

    How to restrict the user to enter only numeric values in a input field.
    For example,
    i have an input field in that i would like to enter
    only numeric values. no special characters,alphabets .
    reply ASAP

    Hi Venuthurupalli,
    As valery has said once you select the value to be of type integer,once you perform an action it will be validated and error message that non numeric characters are there will be shown. If you want to set additional constraints like max value, min value etc you can use simple types for it.
    On the project structure on left hand side under local dictionary ->datatypes->simple types create a simple type of type integer
    The attribute which you are binding to value property ;make its type as simple type which you made
    Hope this helps you

  • How to set number of characters in input field ?

    I am creating an input field dynamically (via CL_WD_INPUT_FIELD).
    I am binding the value (via BIND_VALUE) to an attribute with type CHAR30.
    I want to give the possibility to enter a number with 4 digits (0 - 9999).
    Is it possible to restrict the number of characters that can be entered to 4 (although the BIND_VALUE attribute has a type CHAR30, that allows 30)?
    I have tried it via set_length, bind_length but it seems that the length of the BIND_VALUE attribute overrules the length information...

    Hi Moritz,
    AFAIk you have no other option as using a NUM4 here.
    Set Length just sets the lengths of the inputfield according to the current character set ... count of charcters but does not limit the value you may enter
    Cheers

  • How to restrict the length of input field

    Hi,
    How to restrict the length of input field. That is we should not be able to enter more thatn 10 charecters.
    Regards,
    H.V.Swathi

    Hi swathi,
    For this you have to create a simple data type. No need of writing a code.
    Go to Dictionaries -> Local Dictionary -> Data Type - > Simple Type - > Right click and "Create Simple Type".
    Here you should create a Simple type with String as built-in Type. Here you will also see the Length Constraints option.
    Set the value of maximum length and minimum length. In your case set the value of maximum length to 10. At runtime this will not allow the user to enter more than 10 characters.
    Now create an attribute and bind it to this newly created simple type. Bind the value of the input field with this particular attribute.

    How can i do it ?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Mate,
    Just set the value to the webdynpro context fields on view init.
    if its like that will override the values entered by use on the form.
    just check if the default value is equall to the field value if yes leave it, if not dont touch that field.
    does this make sense...?

  • How to set default value to input field

    Hi Experts,
    I need to set default value to one input field for the transaction crmd_order as a screen variant. Guide me in doing that.
    Regards,
    Harish

    Using the transaction SHD0, you can define the screen variant. While defining the sceen variant, you are allowed to define the default values.
    Using screen variant, for the main transactoin, you can also define the transaction variant and you can use this as an independent transaction.

  • How to restrict number of character to be entered in an input field??????

    Hi All,
    I am using the tab phtmlb:formLayoutInputField to define an input field. I need to restrict the end user from entering a maximum of 70 characters(can be any character/number) in the textbox.
    I'll explain in another sentence:::: the end user should be able to enter only 70 characters in the textbox and 71st character should not be allowed to enter. Could anyone please suggest as to how I can achieve this?
    Thanks a lot in advance,

    Hi,
    We can limit the length of an inputfield by mentioning the maxlength properties of an inputfield.

  • How to set focus on a input field in a selected row of a table?

    In a previous discussion (http://scn.sap.com/thread/3564789) I asked how to access an input (sap.m.Input) field of a selected row in a table. In the answer that was supplied I was shown how to get the items of the table. Then using the selected index to get the selected item get the cells. Then I could set editable on the proper cell(s). This worked fine.
    Now I need to set the focus on one of the fields. I tried something like this:
                var oNewLink = table.getSelectedItem();
                var oNewLinkName = oNewLink.getCells()[1];
                oNewLinkName.focus();
    But this doesn't seem to work.
    I have searched through other discussions and have seen this technique for putting focus on a field if you have its ID:
    sap.ui.getCore().byId(id_of_the_input_field).$().focus();
    In my case though I do not have an ID since the row and its cells are generated. How can I set focus on the cell of a certain row in a table?

    Hello Venkatesh. Yes that code does work. First I tried it on a table cell that was already rendered and it did work. The next time I tried it on a table row that was being added and it did not work there. So I added an on after rendering function for the table and added that code there. That did not work until I added a delay (timeout) to do a context switch before calling the focus and that worked.
    Once last thing though sometimes when I call focus on an input field (actually in a table row cell) if the field has text in it already the flashing cursor is at the beginning of the text and other times it is at the end of the text (which is the desired way). It depends on where I click in the row. Is there anyway to make sure the flashing cursor is at the end of the text when the focus is applied to a field that contains text?

  • Restricting a user to enter fixed characters in an input field (mobile)

    Hi All,
    I have created a simple type and set its length to some fixed characters. I have mapped this simple type to an input field. When I run this application on desktop it doesn't allow the user to enter characters more than the fixed length of the simple type. But this functionality is not available on the mobile ie. when I try to enter some text in the input field on the mobile device it allows me to enter as many characters as I want and the fixed length property of the simple type doesn't work here. Can anyone suggest me a solution for this. Reply ASAP.
    Thanks in advance,
    Murtuza

    padma,
    You have to set it in the wdDoModifyView()
    if ( firstTime )  {
    IWDInputfield inp_field  = (IWDInputfield) view.getElement("<inputField_ID>");
    inp_field.requestFocus();

  • How can I set the field ICt in component table of the Tasklist as "Input" ?

    Hi experts,
    How can I set the field ICt (BOM's Item Category (POSTP)) in component table of the Tasklist as "Input" Status (The system is in gray now).
    I can define the different Category value by IB01 or IB02,then I can select them at the Tasklist's component table.But sometimes I need batch input such as LSMW,so pls kindly tell me how to setup it,thanks!
    Yinjun

    Hi,
    BOM is created with some component and item category.
    In task list when you go to component, in normal case one selects and copies BOM over there by clicking component selection button.
    Once BOM is copied over there the BOM item category will get copied. As it is BOM item category in Task list it is greyed and it will get copied automatically from BOM.
    You specify item category required by you in IB01 or IB02 and then use that BOM in task list. Go to componenet tab and click component selection button. Once BOM is copied over there the BOM item category will get copied

  • How to set  Date in input field by hard coding in application

    Hi all,
    1.I have to make a date(its my choice to set the date) to appear in input field which is date type.
    2.How to compare two numbers of type decimal. for example greatest of two numbers
    urgent requirement

    Hi
    Check the http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/java/sql/Date.html
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/java/util/Calendar.html
    Sample Code
    Date now = new Date();
          DateFormat df = DateFormat.getDateInstance();
          String s = df.format(now);
          System.out.println("Today is " + s);
    java.sql.Date descends from java.util.Date, but uses only the year, month and day values. There are two methods to create a Date object. The first uses a Calendar object, setting the year, month and day portions to the desired values. The hour, minute, second and millisecond values must be set to zero. At that point, Calendar.getTime().getTime() is invoked to get the java.util.Date milliseconds. That value is then passed to a java.sql.Date constructor:
        Calendar cal = Calendar.getInstance();
        // set Date portion to January 1, 1970
        cal.set( cal.YEAR, 1970 );
        cal.set( cal.MONTH, cal.JANUARY );
        cal.set( cal.DATE, 1 );
        cal.set( cal.HOUR_OF_DAY, 0 );
        cal.set( cal.MINUTE, 0 );
        cal.set( cal.SECOND, 0 );
        cal.set( cal.MILLISECOND, 0 );
        java.sql.Date jsqlD =
           new java.sql.Date( cal.getTime().getTime() );
    The second method is java.sql.Date's valueOf method. valueOf() accepts a String, which must be the date in JDBC time escape format - "yyyy-mm-dd". For example,
        java.sql.Date jsqlD = java.sql.Date.valueOf( "2010-01-31" );
    creates a Date object representing January 31, 2010. To use this method with a Calendar object, use:
        java.sql.Date jsqlD = java.sql.Date.valueOf(
                cal.get(cal.YEAR) + ":" +
                cal.get(cal.MONTH) + ":" +
                cal.get(cal.DATE) );
    which produces a Date object with the same value as the first example.

  • How to set a value on a hidden required input field.

    I have a form that I need to set a value that is stored within the session onto it. I would like the input field to be hidden when a new row is created and just set the value with a value that I have stored with sessionScope.
    Is this possible?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Frank,
    I sure can access the session attribute. I just wasn't sure how to set it. Here is a snippet of my jsp
    <af:inputText value="#{bindings.Createdby.inputValue}"
    binding="#{backing_Project.inputText3}"
    id="inputText3">
    If I set the value="" attribute to be say value="#{sessionScope.userInfo.userId}" then how does ADF know to update the CreatedBy column? This is where I got confused. I figured the value="#{bindings.Createdby.inputValue}" had to stay that way in order for the column to be updated correctly.
    Basically what I am wanting is to programatically set the userId of the person who is creating the row into the CreatedBy column and then show the user's readonly name when a user edits an existing row.
    Any help would be greatly appeciated.
