Setting time for different interactions

How can I set timing throughout different interactions and
show remaining time for all of them altogether?

You do not set anything on a TC.. it is an incredibly dumb box.. that is a backup target.
If you mean Time Machine, no it has no controls.. you can download a utility to set a different period than the normal TM 1 hour..
http://www.klieme.com/TimeMachineScheduler.html
There is probably several of these.. I found it not particularly reliable.. and in the end just left the 1hr as TM sorts out its files very well and does not expand the backup overmuch... you should read up how TM actually works.

  • Re: Running the same (Forte) application multiple times -for different

    Hi
    We had the same problem - how to deploy a number of identical applications, using each their own db.
    (for training).
    The solution we used is to wrap the entire application into different applications by using a very small
    module called KURSUS01, KURSUS02 etc, that did nothing but call the start procedure of the main app.
    Then in the dbsession connect, we made a call appname to get the application name, and appended the
    first 8 chars to the dbname. Thus our dbnames now points to logicals name: rdbdataKURSUS01, rdbdataKURSUS02 etc.
    All this allows us to deploy the identical apps in the same env, or change one version, and run both the old
    and new program on the same pc and server at the same time (eg. KURSUS01 and KURSUS02).
    I also think this is a kludge - but it works nicely!

    Subject: Running the same (Forte) application multiple times - for different business clients.
    Hi All
    We have a number of different business clients all willing to use our
    application.
    The (forte) application is to run on our machines etc for these (business)
    clients.
    All (business) clients will have their data kept in separate Oracle DBs
    (instance).
    The problem now is that the entire (forte) application is written using
    DBSessions.
    Now, depending on what business client needs to be serviced (so to speak) we
    need to attach to the right DB - or use the "right" SO.
    The two options we can think of are:
    Option1:
    Programatic change to somehow "know" what (business) client (DB) I'm talking
    about and then use the right DB.
    Pro:
    Only one forte environment to maintain
    Can run multiple (business) clients on same PC at the same time
    Con:
    Requires many program changes
    bending O-O rules(?)
    can't dynamically name SOs so can it be done at all? (ResourceMGRs maybe?)
    Option2:
    Use separate environments! One for each business client.
    Pro:
    More defined separation of app and data,
    SLA-easy
    Con:
    Maintain "n" number of environments
    Can only run the application for one environment (business client) at a time
    on one PC - Big Negative here!
    Not knowing any feasible solution to option 1 (without much code changes and
    developer moaning) I would go for option two; as I have already worked on
    multi-environment setups on VMS back at the Hydro (hi guys).
    I would appreciate any comments from anyone who has solved this problem.
    How, Why Pro Con etc.

    Hello Matthew,
    You should also change your temp directory to something woth no spaces, something like C:\temp.
    Sapisnt sometimes has problems with the spaces in the temp path, and the Universal Installer nearly always
    has a problem with this.

  • Password security - set permissions for different users

    I am using Abobe Acrobat 9 Pro.
    In the HELP menu, there is a security section in the contents, In the overview, it states the following:
    "Each security method offers a different set of benefits. However, they all allow you to specify encryption algorithms, select the document components to encrypt, and set permissions for different users."
    I would like to know how you can set permissions for different users using Password Security.
    I am the only one in the company who has Acrobat 9 Pro and all others have Adobe Reader 8.
    I have created a PDF file in Acrobat 9, this file is accessible to anyone with Abobe Reader. I would like to set different permissions for different users. For example, i would like certain individuals to print the document and other individuals to not be allowed to print. Can this be acheived using Password Security?

  • How do you set different sleep times for different days?

    Energy Saver --> Schedule allows you to schedule start/wake/sleep/shut down, but it doesn't provide very fine grained control. Is there a way to set the computer to sleep or shut down at different times on different days, to wake only on particular days, etc.?

    AFAIK, Energy Saver doesn't provide the granularity that you're seeking. Launch the Terminal app, copy & paste this command into the window that pops up, hit the return key, and peruse the underlying documentation for the power management setup process:
    man pmset | cat

  • Different sleep times for different monitors?

    I'm using a iBook G4 12" with an external monitor (spanned, not mirrored), and I was wondering if there's a way for me to set different sleep times for each of the LCD and the external monitor?
    Thanks.

    Nope. They all sleep or none sleep.

  • Establish setting 'profiles' for different usage scenarios?

    I'm wanting to easily switch between different settings presets (for example, when I connect my laptop to my TV via HDMI, I'd like to have the energy settings set to "never go to sleep". -- Currently I'm having to manually adjust these settings back and forth each time I want to change them).
    I'm looking for a way to establish profiles like this for different usage scenarios -- something that allows a quick menu selection or key combo to toggle the presets.
    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks for the link. It looks like that app would do what I wanted.. However it may not be properly functional with 10.6, as it doesn't actually manage to change any settings (though it thinks it has) when switching locations.
    I've emailed the support at Centrix, makers of NetworkLocation (paid application, looks like it's still actively developed) to see if it would allow me to change energy saver settings.

  • Can't set timer for titles

    I am having a problem setting the speed and pause for a title. The title appears for about 2 seconds, but I can't make it stay for any longer period with the speed and pause sliders or by tying in a number in either. Some of the titles have a message that they can be no longer then 3 seconds, others say they are 40 to 50 seconds. If I set the time for the clip to longer it has no effect on the time for a title. I am not new to iMovie but I could still be doing something wrong, although this looks pretty straightforward. Please help.

    iMovie's title durations are not accurate as you have noticed.
    As a workaround, in the time line you could apply a little speed up or slo mo to the title clip, using the VideoFX effect "slow/fast/reverse". That would speed up the title or slow it down.
    Or you could create two title clips side by side, and trim the right hand edge of the left clip and the left hand edge of the right clip so that the two pause portions of the title are joined together. That would extend the pause section.
    Or you could do an Edit > Still Frame of the pause, and then splice it into the title to extend the pause.

  • Booking time for different activities without involving costs

    Hi Friends,
    one of my requirement is,i need to define defferent activity types like Lunch time and driving time to capture the time for the different operations and infact it should not involve any cost related stuff,how can we acheive this in standard config.
    Regards,
    Srinika

    Hi,
    Create a work center and create various activity type like
    Transport time
    Waiting time for gate pass
    Waiting time for PTW
    Idle time in lunch etc.
    Assign all the activity type to the work center.
    Don't define the CO activity rate for the above activity
    When you use this work center, you can refer any of these activities and book man hours with out associate cost booking.
    Hope it will help!

  • Setting time for Time Machine backup to run

    Is it possible to set Time Machine to run at a particular time of day? It always seems to start a backup at about 10:00 pm when I'm right in the middle of working on something. Seems to be sort of useless to perform a backup WHILE changes are being made. I'd like to set it to run at like 3:30 am, when necessary.
    Is there a way to do that?
    Thanks!

  • Calculating time for different timezone, problems with daylight savings?

    Hi all,
    I try to convert my locale time to a different timezone (like a world clock does). This worked until Europe got "summer time". Then my time calculation went wrong. I just paste the following coding to give you a quick reproducable code.
    I did a lot of googleing but nothing found so far. Also search here in the forum didn't help me solving it. So now I created a post on my own.
    The output of the Java programm is the following (without the colored comments). I just entered these comments to show you where the calculation is right and where it goes wrong.
    I have absolutely now idea about where the chase the error. I am only guessing with "daylight savings issue".
    Hopefully anybody has a good idea.
    Thanks in advance

    You should not set the time zone on the calendar since you want the calendar based on UTC.
            List<TimeZone> list = new LinkedList<TimeZone>();
            list.add(TimeZone.getTimeZone("Europe/London"));
            list.add(TimeZone.getTimeZone("Europe/Berlin"));
            list.add(TimeZone.getTimeZone("Australia/Sydney"));
            list.add(TimeZone.getTimeZone("America/New_York"));
            list.add(TimeZone.getTimeZone("Asia/Bangkok"));
            list.add(TimeZone.getTimeZone("Asia/Hong_Kong"));
            Calendar cal = new GregorianCalendar(); // Regardless of your timezone this holds the number of milliseconds since 1/1/1970 UTC.
            for (TimeZone tz : list)
                SimpleDateFormat formatter = (SimpleDateFormat) DateFormat.getDateTimeInstance(DateFormat.MEDIUM, DateFormat.MEDIUM);
                formatter.setTimeZone(tz);
                System.out.println("\n" + tz.getID());
                System.out.println("daylight shift in millis: " + tz.getDSTSavings());
                System.out.println("Is in daylight savings: " + tz.inDaylightTime(cal.getTime()));
                System.out.println(formatter.format(cal.getTime()));
            } I have no idea whether or not this then gives the results you expect.

  • Can 2 matrix windows be open at the same time, for different parts?

    I played a midi part freely, and then overdubbed a second part on a different audio instrument "in unison" (there is a joke here, I know), but some of the note attacks were slightly off.
    I wanted to open the matrix windows for both parts to align the notes. But I could open only one window at a time. Is there a way to open both matrix windows at the same time so you can look at the two parts side by side?
    Thanks for any advice,
    Jim

    yes - but in order for it to work u should not enable the link button - the pink one in the upper left corder of the matrix...

  • Unable to set signature for different accounts

    I have a client site where all users have an email address at two different accounts, the same two for all users. All users have a signature setup in Outlook for each email account.
    For all users except one, when they select the Inbox for account A and select New Email, they get the signature for account A; and when they select the Inbox for account B and select New Email, they get the signature for account B.
    But there is one user who gets the signature for account A no matter whether she creates a new email after selecting the Inbox for account A or account B.
    I've looked at her signature setup in Options in Outlook and it's set correctly. She has two signatures and each is assigned to the appropriate account and New messages and Replies/forwards are both set to the appropriate account.
    I myself have Outlook setup with multiple accounts and each account has its own signature and when I select any particular Inbox and create a new email, the appropriate signature is added.
    Any ideas as to why it keeps defaulting to the signature of one account no matter which Inbox she chooses to create a new email from?
    Jonathan

    Thanks for your reply. She is using Office 2007. I read what is at the link you provided and unfortunately it wasn't any help.
    It says for Outlook 2007 to ensure a signature is set for the default email account. She had a signature set for her original account which is an Exchange one and is the default.
    She recently added a second account, which is an IMAP one, and created a signature for it but when she creates an email to be sent out from her new account, the signature in the new email is that of the default account, not the new one, even though Outlook
    options is set up correctly so new emails and replies/forwards from the new account are supposed to use its signature.
    I tried Outlook in Safe Mode and it was no different.
    One other thing is that when she opens the New Mail window there is an Account button right below the Send button. If she changes to the second account, the signature changes and this is how she is sending out email from the second account.
    But everyone else in the office does not have to do this. With everyone else, if they first select the Inbox of the second account, then open a New Mail window, the signature is that of the second account. This is how it works on my computer where I have
    multiple accounts.
    So for some reason it's like Outlook is not detecting that she has selected the Inbox of the second account before opening New Mail. Or else it does detect it and is still defaulting to the primary account. This is what I'm trying to fix.
