Setting up a system on the web

We need to upgrade a client/server system to run on the web. We'll be running Forms 6i forms and 8i database on the intranet using NT machines.
OK, I've read all the manuals, and am not 100% sure of what steps we need to take.
This is what I think we need to do....(please let me know if I've missed anything out).
1) Upgrade out database from 7.3.4. to 8i. No problem there.
2) Upgrade our forms from 4.5 to 6i - again simple enough.
3) Install the middle tier. This is the main area we're unsure of. I assume we'll need to install the Forms Server software on our middle tier machine. Do we also need to install any other Web Server software? Do we need to install OAS? - I thought we only needed OAS if we wanted to use load balancing. Am I right?
Please advise on what other issues we need to be aware of.

I'm unaware of step-by-step instructions to do exactly what you're describing, but it wouldn't be too difficult to piece together.
Server A needs the Reverse Proxy Plugin. It can be downloaded from here:

Server B would be configured to process Java requests no differently than if it were directly communicating with the end-user's User-Agent.
I should also mention that Web Server 7 has this Reverse Proxy feature built in, and integrated into the Administration interface.

My printer will not print the web pages using firefox...how do I set it up to print a web page?

I have an hp photosmart c4180 printer and it will not print the web pages in firefox...how exactly do I set up FF so I can print web pages? I will need step by step instruction also on exactly where to go to set it up.

Open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock), then open Print & Scan
Click the + button at the bottom of the printer list
If your printer appears....not all printers are supported....click on the name to highlight it
Click the Add button to install the printer at the AirPort Express location
Try to print. You must choose the correct printer at the AirPort Express location since the printer is "installed" at other locations on your network.
If you open Print & Scan again, and select the printer at the AirPort Express, there is an option to make the printer the "default" location, so you do not have to choose which location to select when you want to print.

All I can suggest right now is back up first the try to reset the printing system, (all printers in the list will be removed).
Then connect directly to the printer via ethernet or to the Mac using USB and restart the efforts you have made up until now.
As for router settings, it's possible but not likely that your router only allows a small number of clients. It's also posible that you have MAC address filtering on, lastly are you using the correct wireless protocol, (802.11a/b/g WEP or WPA etc)?

Why can't I launch another app using a URL scheme in a web clip set up through Configurator with the "full screen app" option selected?

My company uses web clips on iOS devices, set up through profiles on Configurator, for EVERYTHING. Most of these web clips have a transfer function on the site that allows the user to bring up other apps, like directions to a destination in Google Maps for instance (a URL scheme.) If the option for the web clip to appear as a "full screen app" is selected in Configurator (or iPhone Configuration Utility), this fuction does not work on devices that are running iOS 7. It is imparative to our company that the web clips be full page so there is no address bar, back button, etc. for the users to access. With this feature not working, I have 50+ iOS devices that are usless to us.

Phil, I have been trying to figure out a solution to this problem since iOS 7 came out. In hindsight, I should have downloaded the beta versions of the iOS so I would have had even more time. I have talked with quite a few different developers and up until today it was a consensus that this was a "feature" of iOS in an attempt by Apple to diminish the use of webapps. Now most of these people wouldn't be considered apple apologists by any stretch, which could have contributed to their pessimism. That being said, today I finally received some news that could give us a glimmer of hope. I spent almost 2 hours on the phone today being sent "up the ladder" until I think I found the right person to help (I'm not complaining; I was surprised at how competent and helpful each person that I spoke with was, and I didn't have to explain the situation over and over again.) I think what took so long finding the right person to speak with was that this isn't an issue that any type of troubleshooting would fix. It's not an iPad, iPhone, or even an Apple Configurator issue; it's actually a bug in iOS 7. Anyways, the senior engineer that I spoke with reassured me, very adamantly, that this was not a feature of the new operating system and most definitely a bug. He said that they take webapps very seriously and are actually looking for ways to improve how webapps work on iOS devices and how they are used with Mobile Device Management software, like Configurator. I was a little concerned that he said this was the first he or anyone on his team has heard about this problem, but he did work extensively with me today and said that it looks to be a major issue, and something that he and his team are going to try to figure out as soon as possible. He said he would be calling me by Tuesday with information on how and when this will be fixed. Jon

In order to access the web, I need to set the MTU on my iPad 2 to 1392 (standard rate is 1500). How do I do this?

My ISP is called iBurst and operates in South Africa and Australia. In order to load/download or browse on the web, you have to set the MTU to 1392 (it
is by default 1500).
To do this on my iMac & MacBook Pro, you use [System Prefs - WiFi - Advanced - Hardware] and configure the MTU manually.
I cannot find a way of doing this on my iPad 2. I did download the Airport Utility for the iPad, but like the Airport Utility for Mac, it
has no option for setting MTU.
Is there any way to manually change the MTU on the iPad?

I may be mistaken, but I think the MTU setting is in your WiFi router, not in the iPad. If you have already configured the MTU using your Mac, that should be sufficient.
If the iPad still does not browse the web, I would try unplugging the WiFi router for a few seconds. Then reset the iPad's network. Go to Settings-General-Reset-Reset Network Settings. You will need to reconnect the iPad to WiFi.

What version of CRM you are using? Does this happen when you open the case record?
We have faced the similar for Account record and was solved using below query. I am not sure about incident.

Here are the most common reasons this error can occur:
The code is executed on a different machine - The SharePoint object model (except the Client API) requires to be run on the SharePoint server itself. It is not possible to run the application on a server which is not within the same
SharePoint farm the code is trying to access.
Insufficient Rights on the site collection - The code is executed in context of an account which does not have read permission on the site collection
Incorrect Url being used - Verify that the site works correct in a browser and double check that the server is correct registered in the AAM settings
Incorrect bitness - The SharePoint object model needs to be executed with the same bitness as the operating system. That means you cannot use the SharePoint object model in a 32-bit application if the Operating System and SharePoint
are installed as 64-bit version. Ensure to compile the project using the correct bitness (64-bit on a 64-bit machine vs. 32-bit on a 32-bit machine)
Incorrect .NET framework version - Ensure that the project is configured to use .NET 3.5. .NET 4.0 cannot be used with the current versions of SharePoint

Yes, the tone is available and checked in iTunes under the Tones library.
Yes, it is also listed under the Tones tab for my iPhone, but it is grayed out.
Yes, tones are selected under "sources" in General Preferences, along with everything else.
SyncTones was NOT selected under the Tones tab for my iPhone. I did so and it synced.

You're saying that when you click on the iCloud preference pane button it sends you to the defunct MMe
rather than giving you this?
Is your profile up to date, i.e. are your running 10.7.5? Make sure you click on the iCloud button and not the MMe button.

The Web template does not exist in the master system

We are using a Web Template (ZPORTAL) as an access point to other web templates and to 0ANALYZER. We recieve an abort when the use logs on for the first time and is presented with the password change window. When they change the password and click ok, the following message is recieved: The Web template "ZPORTAL=" does not exist in the master system. After the abort, they go back to the ZPORTAL again in which case no abort occurs and they are able to navigate the web template. This only happens when they have to change their password. Has anyone else seen this?

Make sure the template exists in the system which is configured in the iView property.
There should be a one to one mapping between BI and EP systems.

How to set a New Tab as the start page in Firefox and lock in my choice of web sites

You may set the New Tab page Firefox shows when opening a new tab as its start page, and you can lock in the web sites you want displayed there.
I set my browser to open a New Tab as its start page and have locked in six destinations from which to choose on my start page.
First I open Firefox and open a new tab. Then I delete any open tabs other than this New Tab. Optionally, I can also set a second tab to open to a specific web site
Next I go to Tools and Options (or Edit and Preferences in Linux) and select the General tab on the far left. Click on
[Use Current Pages].
Each time I open Firefox it will open showing me the New Tab.
I can select from pages that I have already visited the six pages I want to have appearing on my New Tab every time. Supposing there are no pages locked in yet, and I don't want the site in the top left. I hit the X in its thumbnail's top right corner, it disappears and every other site thumbnail moves up and there is a new site appearing in the sixth slot. Note that if I have visited one page frequently, it may appear more than once, or be replaced by itself. If that happens, just keep deleting until the page you want shows up.
If I find a site that I want to save, then there is a thumbtack in the top left corner of the thumbnail. It is black, but if I click it it turns blue, and the thumbnail is a keeper.
This web site is in the second row, second over, but I want it to be up on the top row. Just drag and drop and the two sites exchange places. Make sure it has a blue thumbtack. The lock-down thumbtacks and delete X symbols appear in the top left and top right, respectively while the mouse is hovering over them.
It is possible to delete a saved site, and it is possible to undo the thumbtack. Simply click the X to delete or click the blue thumbtack to unlock the site and turn the thumbtack black.
You may choose to tack down a few sites and let the remainder float in and out, driven by your browsing history.
Through my use of this approach, I have instant access to my club's web site, two Webmail sites, and some other often-visited places on the Web, all in one start page.
About the only thing I really don't need there is a Google search box, for if I enter my search terms in the address bar I get the same result as if I had specifically typed in the search box.
Some add-ons, often potentially unwanted programs (PUPs), will replace the Firefox about:newtab (address of the New Tab) with eBay, Facebook, Twitter icons among others, and a different search engine. These icons may have a nicer appearance than the default Firefox New Tab, but you may also be looking at extra, unnecessary work for the computer, especially if behind the pretty icons there is a hidden agenda.
Personally, I would stay clear of these add-ons, and perform some scanning with an up-to-date antivirus and antimalware software.

If this is not a pinned (App) tab then the home page should open in that tab.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
