  • Exception:  Cluster address must be set when clustering is enabled

    Hi,
    I've created a simple web service and deployed to a cluster. When i invoke the WSDL url (http://localhost/webservice/MyService?WSDL) through the browser i get the enclosed exception (listed at the bottom)
    I can easily solve this issue by explicitly stating a cluster address witihin the admin console ( Environment->Clusters->Cluster Address:), however the documentation states that i do not need to do this. ( http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs100/webserv/setenv.html#wp220521 )
    Can someone clarify that indeed I need to explicitly declare a Cluster Address when deploying and invoking web services within a clustered environment.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    You will have to specify the address for the cluster to get this work. This was done because if cluster address is not specified, there were other issues that popped up.
    Its works as designed.

    Hi,
    According to the error message, "Offline  is offline. Please verify that the Cluster service is running on the server.",
    I suggest double check whether the Cluster service is running as well. If not, please restart the service manually to verify whether this issue exists.
    Please also refer the blog below to double check whether the FSW online:

  • Oracle 10gR2 Patch Set 3  - Clustering Service (CSS) failed to start

    Hi ,
    we are using Solaris 10 containers. Oracle 10gR2 installation done with ASM in Non-global zone and it was successful, after applying patch set 3 CSS service unable to start and won't generate any error message.
    OS : solaris 10
    DB : Oracle 10gR2
    any pointer will help us to resolve this issue.
    Regards,
    Sachin

    Hi,
    Cause
    1) This is a LANG problem. So this can be confirmed by tracing the init.cssd script (executed by the init/inittab), as follow:
    h1:3:respawn:/etc/init.d/init.cssd run >/var/log/init-cssd.run 2>&1 </var/log/init-cssd.run
    2) /var/log/init-cssd.run log extract:
    TZ=
    + export TZ
    LANG=
    + export LANG
    + /bin/who -b
    + exit 0
    BOOTID= . system boot srp 7 16:44
    + /bin/cat /var/opt/oracle/scls_scr/db4/root/cssrun
    RUNID= . system boot Aug 7 16:44
    + [ . system boot srp 7 16:44 != . system boot Aug 7 16:
    44 ]
    + [ . system boot Aug 7 16:44 = startstack ]
    + exit 3
    STATUS=3
    + [ 3 != 0 ]
    + exit 3
    + [ 3 != 0 ]
    + /bin/sleep 30
    Solution
    1) Set the LANG environment variable in /etc/init.d/init.cssd script (in GETBOOTID section) to cs_CZ.ISO8859-2:
    # Set a null language id. GETBOOTID can also be sensitive to the language
    # codes, when init.cssd is run in a user shell compared to being run
    # under init. Setting a blank language code should guarantee consistency.
    LANG=cs_CZ.ISO8859-2
    2) Then CSS will start.
    $>crsctl check crs
    CSS appears healthy
    Cannot communicate with CRS
    Cannot communicate with EVM
    $>ps -fea | grep ocssd.bin | grep -vi grep
    oracle 407 1 0 Aug 13 ? 3:50 /oracle2/V10g2/bin/ocssd.bin

  • Clustering objects in jndi

    Hi all,
    I am building a solution using weblogic version 6.1sp1.
    I am needing to share an object around a set of clusters to tell each cluster
    about the services in the other clusters.
    The first solution I thought of was to create a javax.naming.Reference to bind
    into each of the clusters' JNDI tree and have it replicated throughout the tree.
    After reading about the behavior of these types of objects, I am not sure how
    to proceed.
    It appears from the docs that if the server that bound the object into jndi goes
    down the object will be unbound from all of the other servers in the cluster.
    Please inform if my interpretation of the docs was incorrect.
    The solution I am working for now is to not replicate the objects, and to create
    a startup class for all of the servers, when they come up they will create and
    bind their own versions.
    Also, if anyone has another solution to this problem please reply ...

    Your solution sounds right. Don't forget to set REPLICATE_BINDINGS to 'false' :

    Actually i tried with Weblogic 8.1 sp2 and sp4 but same problem.I just tried setting up clusters on Windows 2000 it works fine.Seems to be a problem with windows XP home.
    Any idea if same problem occurs with Win XP professional?
    Anyway thanx for the reply.

  • Clustering and CF9 Standard?

    Hi,
    I have a couple of questions that I was hoping to get answered around ColdFusion 9 and clustering.  Currently, we run CF8 and IIS on the same box with a dedicated db server and serve up about 10 applications.  We are starting to look at clustering and I wanted to know:
    1. With CF 9 Standard, can we setup clustering?  Our apps have session vars and we want to use sticky sessions but I'm unsure if we can do that just with CF9 Standard.
    2. Does CF play well with VMware? If so, does anyone have any success stories around Virtualizing CF?
    Thanks,

    1. No, you can not set up clustering in CF Standard. You could set up multiple servers and let a load balancer handle the distributio of requests over the servers, but then you do not have session failover. This may meet your requirements. Or not.
    2. It works just fine. I can't remember when I set up CF for the last time on a non VMware system.

  • Oracle text clustering - use of Stemming

    Hi,
    I am using K-means to cluster a set of documents. But I am unable to set the clustering algorithm parameters to use stemming for the tokens. The clustering algorithm uses 'move', 'moving', 'moves', 'moved' as separate words and clusters the documents into different clusters. I would like to group all the documents that contain 'move', 'moving', 'moves', 'moved' into a single group by using the stem 'move'. I am unable to do this so far. In case any of you have some ideas, please suggest.
    I use the following preferences and attributes to create a text index:
    BEGIN
    CTX_DDL.DROP_PREFERENCE ('test_lex');
    CTX_DDL.CREATE_PREFERENCE ('test_lex', 'BASIC_LEXER');
    CTX_DDL.SET_ATTRIBUTE ('test_lex', 'INDEX_STEMS', 'ENGLISH');
    END;
    drop index temp_idx;
    CREATE index temp_idx ON temp(text1) indextype is CTXSYS.CONTEXT parameters ('WORDLIST CTXSYS.BASIC_WORDLIST LEXER test_lex SYNC (ON COMMIT)');
    And below is the code I use to cluster the documents:
    create table temp0 (docid NUMBER, clusterid NUMBER, score NUMBER);
    create table temp1 (clusterid NUMBER, descript varchar2(4000), label varchar2(200), sze number, quality_score number, parent number);
    begin
    ctx_ddl.drop_preference('my_cluster');
    ctx_ddl.create_preference('my_cluster','KMEAN_CLUSTERING');
    ctx_ddl.set_attribute('my_cluster','CLUSTER_NUM','10');
    ctx_ddl.set_attribute('my_cluster','STEM_ON','FALSE');
    ctx_output.start_log('my_log');
    ctx_cls.clustering('temp_idx','seq','temp0','temp1','my_cluster');
    ctx_output.end_log;
    end;
    Thanks!

    Make the following true
    ctx_ddl.set_attribute('my_cluster','STEM_ON','FALSE');
    i.e.
    ctx_ddl.set_attribute('my_cluster','STEM_ON','TRUE');
    and then create the clusters. Also as you have already done, the lexer should have INDEX_STEM on

  • Quartz job in  a clustered evn

    I have a quartz scheduled job in my application .My application is deployed in a clustered env , so based on no of servers no of jobs will be triggered , can I control this so that the job gets fired from any one of the servers and not from all the servers in cluster ? Can the servers in cluster communicate and decide who would fire the job , I don't want several instances for the same job is this possible ?

    Enterprise Quartz scheduler has advanced setting for clustering and load balancing. You should follow Quartz documentation.

              Hi All,

              I am not sure what you mean by I already set the clustering in the admin
              server.
              1. You have to create two clusters.
              2. Then you make each web server part of cluster 1 and each application
              server part of cluster 2.
              Hope this makes sense.

  • Tiered Architecture and Clustering

    Hi,
              Was wondering if anyone had problems setting up clustering in a
              tiered environment. What we are looking to do is setup a load balancer
              in front of a weblogic presentation tier (Servlets and JSP) that in
              turn connect to a clustered application tier of EJB's. Just some
              random thoughts:
              1) Does the replica aware stub live in the presentation tier?
              2) Does it make sense to put another load balancer between tier's? Or
              just let the stub handle the load balancing?
              Curious to know if anyone else has setup a similar configuration.
              Regards,
              Rick Mitterer

    I have seen several such setups. You do not usually have a dedicated
              hardware load balancer between the JSP/Servlet container and the EJB
              container. The replica-aware stub is where the EJB client is, which is the
              JSP/Servlet container.

  • JNDI spanning multiple clusters

              Hi!
              I would like to know if it is possible to have multiple
              clusters of servers (potentially in different network
              zones), and still have a global JNDI tree, as if it
              was only one big cluster? What are the considerations
              to meet such a requirement?
              Thanks,
              Guillaume Bedard

    Generally speaking, you usually end up with multiple clusters with scenarios
              like this, each separated by a firewall for example.

  • Clusters- what am I doing wrong?

    I know this has been beaten to death but I'm really frustrated.  I never had any problems setting up clusters in Compressor 3 and getting them to work.  I have an 8 core mac pro with 16 gigs of ram.  When I would transcode dv to m2v, activity monitor showed usage at about 95%.  Then I downloaded FCP Xand that seemed to hose the setup- now only runs at 35%.  (Fortunately, I have another set up clone on another hardrive and that still works- no FCP X).
    So the I decided to download Compressor 4.  I read the manual.  I followed intructions on setting up a cluster.  But when I submit a job, only "this computer" shows up.  It uses 35% of core resources.  If I check the box next to it (computer plus share) it won't even encode.  Would somebody please provide a step by step description of how an old geezer like me can set up a cluster on my mac pro and actually get it to work.  Your indulgence is most appreciated.
    Steve

    Hey Steve.
    In previous versions, we opened Qmaster in Systems Preferences. In the current version, Qmaster is an embedded app and is accessible through the toolbar menu.
    In Apple Qmaster sharing > Setup, check the boxes as shown. And click the QuickCluster with Services button. Give you cluster a name and enter it into the identify…field. Click the Options button and choose the number of instances; Assume your cores are hyperthreaded so in theory you could go up to 16. But I'd suggest  something more conservative – 6  wouldn't be a bad place to start. (Later, when you get it running, you can do some timed testing with higher numbers of instances.)
    When you submit your batch for processing, in the drop down, you should get a choice of This Computer and your cluster name.
    Then open up the Share Monitor to check that the jobs are being segmented as they are processed.
    BTW,  some of the settings have a check box in the Encoder tab, named Allow Job Segmenting. It's usually on by default but it wouldn't hurt to check.
    Post back and let us know.
    Russ
