Setting Up Connection/User Aliases

I was wondering if there's anyway to set-up a User Alias under a Connection. What I mean by that is that I have set-up a connection, and everytime I want to go look at a particular Schema under that Connection I have go to Users and then explode out Users, find the schema and explode it out. Is there anyway to add my most commonly used schemas as like an Alias or something to save me some click strokes???
We are Using Oracle SQL Developer 3.0.03.
I appreciate your review and am hopeful for a reply.
Thanks!

There is an extension to allow schema selection that also supports a default schema to be set on a connection.
http://javaforge.com/project/schemaselit was created on 2.1; and last time i tried it on 3.0 the default schema part was not working, but it's still worth a try.
EDIT Tried it now and it's working as expected, just make sure you type the default user name with the same case returned from the database, the extension is case sensitive.

  • How do I set up multiple users with different configurations

    I have a Mac Pro that is shared by multiple users. Some edit using Avid Media Composer 6.0, and some edit using Final Cut Pro 7. Our client monitor is connected using a Matrox MX02 Mini. When I install the latest drivers for the Matrox MX02, I can use the client monitor with Media Composer, but not Final Cut Pro 7. When I back-rev the drivers to support Final Cut Pro 7, I can't use the MX02 in Media Composer.
    Is there a way to set up two users -- one for Avid editing and one for Final Cut editing -- that will each load different sets of drivers?
    Thanks!

    Not in one boot system. The only way I can think of doing what you want is to dual-boot - ie, either partition a single drive with two volumes, one for each configuration, or, if you can, use separate physical drives. The Matrox drivers are loaded at the system level, not the user level.
    If you have a spare drive, you would just clone your system across using Carbon Copy Cloner / SuperDuper, then boot to the second system and adjust the drivers as necessary.

  • Error trying to run SSIS Package via SQL Server Agent: DTExec: Could not set \Package.Variables[User::VarObjectDataSet].Properties[Value] value to System.Object

    Situation:
    SSIS Package designed in SQL Server 2012 - SQL Server Data Tools
    Windows 7 - 64 bit.
    The package (32 bit) extracts data from a SQL Server db to an Excel Output file, via an OLE DB connection.
    It uses 3 package variables:
    *) SQLCommand (String) to specify the SQL Statement to be executed by the package
    Property path: \Package.Variables[User::ExcelOutputFile].Properties[Value]
    Value: f:\Output Data.xls
    *) EXCELOutputFIle (String) to specify path and filename of the Excel output file
    Property path: \Package.Variables[User::SQLCommand].Properties[Value]
    Value: select * from CartOrder
    *) VarObjectDataSet (Object) to hold the data returned by SQL Server)
    Property path: \Package.Variables[User::VarObjectDataSet].Properties[Value]
    Value: System.Object
    It consists out of 2 components:
    *) Execute SQL Task: executes the SQL Statement passed on via a package variable. The resultng rows are stored in the package variable VarObjectDataSet
    *) Script Task: creates the physical output file and iterates VarObjectDataSet to populate the Excel file.
    Outcome and issue:The package runs perfectly fine both in SQL Server Data Tools itself and in DTEXECUI.
    However, whenever I run it via SQL Server Agent (with 32 bit runtime option set), it returns the errror message below.
    This package contains 3 package variables but the error stating that a package variable can not be set, pops up for the VarObjectDataSet only.  This makes me wonder if it is uberhaupt possible to set the value of a package variable
    of type Object.
    Can anybody help me on this please ?

    Hi Visakh,
    thank you for your reply.
    So, judging by your reply, not all package variables used inside a package need to be set a value for when run in DTEXEC ?
    I already tried that but my package ended up in error (something to do with "... invocation ...." and that error is anything but clearly documented. Judging by the error message itself, it looks like it could be just about anything. that is why I asked my
    first question about the object type package variable.
    Now, I will remove it from the 'set values' list and try another go cracking the unclear error-message " ... invocation ...". Does an error message about " ... invocation ..." ring any bells, now that we are talking about it here ?
    Thx in advance
    Jurgen
    Yes exactly
    You need to set values only forthem which needs to be controlled from outside the package
    Any variable which gets its value through expression set inside package or through a query inside execute sql task/script task can be ignored from DTExec
    Ok I've seen the invocation error mostly inside script task. This may be because some error inside script written in script task. If it appeared after you removed the variable then it may because some reference of variable existing within script task.

  • How to configure Mail Users aliases

    Hello,
    i have installed OS X Lion Server and after after a short while i was very dissapointed.
    One of my goals was to get a easy GUI to adminstrate my mail Server.
    So, after installing Server App i configure and activate a Mail Server.
    Then i wanted to add aliases to my User and tried to start The Workgroup Manager.
    Within i searched for a the mail tab in order to configure the User Aliases.
    But there was no Mail tab there, so i have to create the aliases through the command line (edit /etc/postfix/aliases, newaliases).
    I cannot believe that there is no gui for configuring mail users. Is this really so or is it in another place or have i forgotten to check or to do something else.
    How do you setting up and configure mail and mail users in OS X Lion?
    I am looking forward to you answers and expiriences,
    Greetings,
    Peter

    @menzbua
    You can configure mail aliases, the same way you did in Mac OS 10.6 Server... Make sure you have Installed Server Tools for 10.7. Run Workgroup Manager. Under the User, Select Short names on the 2nd or 3 line add [email protected] etc .etc

  • Problem setting up Network User

    I am running Mac OS X 10.5 Server with clients running 10.5 also. Currently, there are several users on the server, but in Workgroup Manager, their home directory is set to null. The users have local accounts on certain 10.5 clients which are linked to their accounts on the server. So when they log in to the client, they are authenticated against their account on the server, and various settings (Mail, iCal) are picked up from the server.
    I now need to allow users to log in to any client machine without setting up a local account (and linking it to the server account) first. So I have gone through the procedures specified in the 'User Management v10.5' documentation, specifically the 'Administering Share Points' and 'Administering Home Folders -> Creating a Network Home Folder' sections. I have used the second set of procedures to create a network home folder for a single test user. I assume that this makes the test user a 'Network User', though how to create a 'Network User' is not explicitly specified anywhere.
    The problem is that on a client machine (that does not have a local account for the test user), the test user's network account is not listed on the login screen (though the login settings indicate it should be), and I also cannot log in as the test user by clicking on 'Other...' and supplying the requisite credentials. I should note that the client Mac is 'attached' to the server (eg. through Directory Utility).
    Can anyone provide advice as to what's going wrong? Is there some other (secret?!) step that is needed to create a Network User so that clients see the user and allow the user to login?
    Many, many thanks,
    Jolin

    Hi Leif,
    Many thanks for your reply.
    Leif Carlsson wrote:
    The only way of "linking" a "local" account on a computer to a OpenDirectory account that I know of is to create the "network" account homefolder on the local/client machine HD when the user is logging in to the OD server for the first time.
    Actually, it is possible to not have a network account or home folder, and link a local user to a user account on the server. When a client computer is bound to the OpenDirectory server, in the 'Accounts' preference pane of the client computer, there is a field called 'Server Account:' with a 'Set…' button. Clicking the 'Set…' button allows one to link the local account to the server account. Even though there is no home directory on the server, when the user logs in to the client Mac, the password and any managed preferences for that account are taken from the server account.
    The client machine has to be bound to OD first and the account should preferably be setup as a mobile account (so the account can be used even if the computer isn't connected to the network - logins are cached locally).
    I have bound the client machine to the OD server, but I have not yet set up the account as a mobile account. I plan to do this eventually, but wanted to get the 'basic' network user account working first.
    For a "true network home" folder residing only on a server volume/share, the OD account should use a share(point) setup in Server Admin for an automount AFP (or NFS) "User home folders" share.
    I have done this. The server has a sharepoint called 'Homes' which is set to automount over AFP, with the setting 'Use for: User home folders and group folders'. This seems to be working, because on the client Mac, the 'Homes' sharepoint automatically appears when browsing the available network volumes.
    Then in the OD the user should be setup to use the automatically created path (afp://<server FQDN>/<shared folder>) as it's homefolder path.
    I believe I've done this as well, using Workgroup Manager. When viewing the 'Basic' tab of the user, the 'Home:' is given as 'afp://<server FQDN>/Homes/jwarren'. That looks right to me, but I cannot login as the user 'jwarren' from the client Mac's login screen (Network Users are enabled on the client Mac). When I log in as a different user on the client Mac, I can browse the network, and the above afp path is automatically mounted.
    Is there some other setting needed so that the client Mac will 'see' the network user I have set up? As I say, the autmount sharepoint is set up, and the user is set up in OpenDirectory (on the server) to have a home folder on the automount. But when I'm at the login screen on the client Mac, the network user does not appear in the list, and if I try to login by typing the username and password manually, the login window just shakes as it does when one enters the incorrect password.
    Any further help much appreciated!

    But Reporting Services either relies on AD to authenticate the users, or you can create a custom-authentication extension to authenticate the users.

    Hi,
    in case you haven't done this already: for this problem we'd really need you to open a CSS message.
    From your problem description it sounds likely that LCA routines and liveCache user don't fit together. Please check the solution of note 811207 to see if that assumption is correct.
    Furthermore: liveCache 7.5 and SCM 4.0 are not released together (yet). When using SCM 4.0 only liveCache versions 7.4.03 Build XX are released. This it seems you're current combination is not supported!
    Please take a look at PAM (Produkt Availability Matrix) on the SAP Service Marketplace to see which combinations have been released.
    Kind regards,

  • Automatically/Programmatically setting private connection in portlets

    We are creating a BI dashboard with Discoverer Relational 10g and Portal 10g (latest versions). Our dashoard consists of approximately 15 portlets.
    We have opted for private connections in which each portal user connects using his own private connection and the VPD is used for data security. We have been able to use the capi.sh scripts to programmatically create 1 private connection per user.
    Is there a way to avoid that each of the 50 users have to "customize" each of the 15 portlets to choose their one and only private connection from the list of connections before they see their own data. Please note that we cannot show default data as the data is specific to the user.
    we need a way of programmatically preset the connections of each portlet for each user so that the see the data as soon as they enter instead of us spending all the time to explain all the users how to set the connection and then each of them spending time choosing the connections.
    Has anyone come up with a solution?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Goga
    Let's look at your points in turn.
    1> You do need to create a database user, granting necessary privileges and sharing required workbooks
    2> Yes you do need to have an OID entry for the single sign on piece. Personally I'd use the same username for both single sign-on and the database. It will be far easier for the users, and for you who has to manage it. Thus if a user leaves you will be removing / disabling the same user in both environments
    3> You will need to have a private connection for each user. This cannot be done through OEM and can either be done online as you suggest or scriptually using CAPI or using your own script. I know of a company that has created a front-end to Discoverer such that when the user enters their SSO username correctly the system checks to see if a private connection exists for ths user - you can do this if the accounts have the same name - and then creates the connection on the fly if no such account exists. Because the user has a database role they will see all reports shared with them using the role. By the way, the connections are stored in this table in the infrastructure: wwsso_psex_user_info$
    4> This is the one that has me confused too. I've been trying to think if there was a way to allow portlets to be accessed using a user's private connection automatically. There isn't exactly. I've been reading the Publising Workbooks in Oracle Application Server guide (page 3-23) and it seems to suggest a way. Here is what it says:
    If you choose connections other than the Publisher’s Connection to display data
    or allow users to choose their own connection, only those connections that have access to the worksheet defined in the portlet will be able to see it. For example, you create a worksheet portlet using worksheet MyWorkbook.sheet1 and choose the Publisher’s Connection to be user SCOTT and you allow users to customize their database connection. The user SCOTT has shared the MyWorkbook workbook to user MARY but not to user FRED. When user MARY customizes the portlet to use her connection, she will see the contents of MyWorkbook.sheet1. If user FRED customizes the portlet to use his connection he will get an error stating that he does not have access to the worksheet.
    This might just be the clue. I think its worth a try. Please let me know how you get on.
    Best wishes
    Michael

  • View list of connected users in console.  Is that gone?

    I can't seem to find where in the WLS 6.1 console to find a list of
    connected users. Has that view been removed in the switch to JMX?

    There may be an easier way, but here's how I did it:
    Install Pseudo.
    Install the Apple Developer Tools.
    Launch Pseudo and drag /Developer/Applications/Utilities/Property List Editor.app into its window
    In the Property List Editor, open /Library/Preferences/com.apple.AppleFileSharing.plist
    Set the first key under Root, the activityLog, to "Yes". Save the file.
    Start File Sharing. Open Console. Look for /Library/Logs/AppleFileService/AppleFileServiceAccess.log
    This log file will list all connection attempts, with the IPv4 or IPv6 address and user name.
    Once this log is set up, you can then use third-party utilities such as xAFP to monitor the connections in your menubar.

  • Setting up connection using a single connection string.

    Post Author: DubbleOh7
    CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
    I know about the ConnectionInfo object in for .NET crystal reports, but for security purposes we don't have access to a password of any kind, nor do we pass them around our web pages, they are used for login access only. So how can I just set a connection string for the report to access a SQL Server database? I prefer NOT to do the Dataset work around. Its a busy server and the report could contain up to 20,000 records with lots of fields. Not efficient. I also know I could make an object fill it with data from a data reader, but not sure thats as efficient as just having the report execute the stored procedure I have. I also don't want the report to pop up that login page automatically for the users since they have already logged into the website. I'm looking forward to any ideas or suggestions. Thanks in advance for any info or suggestions you may have!
    Summary:
    I don't want to use datasets due to inefficiency and overhead of several thousand records.
    I just want to be able to use a connection string using windows authentication enabled for the report connection to a SQL Server database.
    This is for SQL 2K5..calling a stored procedure
    Crystal reports for ASP.NET (VB language solutions preferred)
    Basically I'd like to use a trusted connection and
    ReportConnection.ServerName = "SERVER"
    ReportConnection.DatabaseName = "DATABASE"
    ReportConnection.IntegratedSecurity = True
    doesn't get me there.

    Right-click the WINDOWS desktop, choose New->Microsoft Data Link. That will bring up a dialog that allows you to configure and test your database connection. You might connect to the Access database via ODBC or directly via Jet Engine. The Jet Enginge saves you the trouble of creating an ODBC connection on your PC. After you leave the dialog, the "data link" will show up on your desktop as text file. Open it and copy-paste the connection string to your VI.
    This webpage is an excellent resource for connection strings: http://www.able-consulting.com/ADO_Conn.htm
    If your application requires users to change the database connection at runtime, you can also include the dialog via ActiveX (MSDASC.IDataSourceLocator).
