Setting up examples to run with Oracle

When I try to run the following " ant db_setup_oracle", got the following error "Buildfile: build.xml does not exist! Build failed.
Where can I find/get the build.xml file?
Thanks in Advance!

Execute the command in the directoy in which the build script resides. The script that contains the "db_setup_oracle" target lives in SAMPLES_HOME/server/medrec/setup.
You may also use the Oracle-specific DDL and SQL scripts provide in SAMPLES_HOME/server/medrec/setup/db to setup Oracle outside of the Ant script.

  • Runtime Error setting the 'Environment' when running with TWO executables

    Hello,
    I'm using XML DB for the very first time, so this problem may be easy to solve.
    I'm currently running a test with TWO separate C# Console executables.
    One executable correctly sets up the Xml Environment, Manager, and Container and simply adds XML documents to the database.
    The second executable simply is supposed to run some XQuery commands. I use the same Environment, Manager, and Container code to do the initialization. However, I'm having trouble with setting up the 'Environment' in this executable. I get the following error:
    DbEnv::open: DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery, exception code = DATABASE_ERROR
    On this line of code:
    Sleepycat.Db.Environment env = new Sleepycat.Db.Environment(envdir, envconf);
    I've only seen code examples that run in a SINGLE executable. I'd really like to access the XML DB from multiple threads/executables, but am having trouble.
    Can there be multiple 'Environments' and 'Managers' for the one XML Db?
    Will provide more data if needed, and thanks for any help!
    Matt

    I guess you addressing this in the wrong forum. I see tags like "sleepycat" and "C#", probably thats why nobody replied.

  • Apex running with Oracle Retail Applications

    Hi,
    Has anyone had experiance of building Apex screens to run with the Oracle Retail Applications (ORMS, ORPM, ReIM etc) and if so the do you do authentication using mod_sql (as with EBS 11i) rather than using the Apex Listener as you would with EBS R12.1
    I am assuming its possible to access the Apex screens from the Retail menu's but I have not looked into it in any dertail and just wanted to know that I am not waiting my time suggesting Apex as an extension technology around the Retail Applications.

    I am new to the SunOne IDE. I am trying to use the JDBC wizard to generate a form to work with an Oracle table. I want to use the ORacle thin driver but I am not sure how I can tell the IDE where its located. Can someone help? Thanks.

    In the explorer window select "RUNTIME".(Bottom of window tabbed pane)
    Expand "DATABASES"
    Expand "DRIVERS"
    Scrolldown and you'll see Oracle thin - click on that and set properties.
    Then right click "Oracle thin" click "connect using..."
    From here/there you should be able to view all tables you have access to view..etc.

  • ORA-01816 when running with Oracle Instant Client

    good morning
    we are running the same SQL script on 2 computers.
    - native system with DB
    - via Oracle Instant client
    when running via the instant client i get the following error.
    ( select to_char(to_date('1970-01-01') + "DATE" / 86400000, 'YYYY-MM-DD') "CD", logical_name
    ERROR at line 2:
    ORA-01861: literal does not match format string
    thanks for any hint

    It probably works on one and not the other because you have set the NLS_DATE_FORMAT for one system to match the format of the string you are passing in, so Oracle knows how to do the implicit conversion.

  • Upgrade of Database with Oracle Change Data Capture

    Hello,
    We are upgrading and moving our database to a different server.
    The move is from 10G R1 database on Solaris to 11G R2 on Linux.
    Our database uses Oracle Change Data Capture.
    What is the best way to perform this migration? Unlike in the approach below, ideally, it would be without any manual steps to drop and recreate CDC subscriptions, change tables, etc.
    Thanks.
    Considerations for Exporting and Importing Change Data Capture Objects
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B13789_01/server.101/b10736/cdc.htm#i1027532
    Starting in Oracle Databse 10g, Oracle Data Pump is the supported export and import utility for Change Data Capture. Change Data Capture change sources, change sets, change tables, and subscriptions are exported and imported by the Oracle Data Pump expdp and impdp commands with the following restrictions:
    After a Data Pump full database import operation completes for a database containing AutoLog Change Data Capture objects, the following steps must be performed to restore these objects:
    1. The publisher must manually drop the change tables with the SQL DROP TABLE command. This is needed because the tables are imported without the accompanying Change Data Capture metadata.
    2. The publisher must re-create the AutoLog change sources, change sets, and change tables using the appropriate DBMS_CDC_PUBLISH procedures.
    3. Subscribers must re-create their subscriptions to the AutoLog change sets.

    Hello,
    I opened SR with Oracle Support, they are suggesting to perform full database import/export
    Change Data Capture change sources, change sets, change tables, and subscriptions are exported and imported by the Oracle Data Pump expdp and impdp commands with the following restrictions.
    Change Data Capture objects are exported and imported only as part of full database export and import operations (those in which the expdp and impdb commands specify the FULL=y parameter). Schema-level import and export operations include some underlying objects (for example, the table underlying a change table), but not the Change Data Capture metadata needed for change data capture to occur."
    CDC has different implementation methods:
    You may use the below query to determine-
    select SOURCE_NAME, SOURCE_DESCRIPTION, CREATED, SOURCE_TYPE, SOURCE_DATABASE, SOURCE_ENABLED from change_sources;
    – Synchronous CDC: with this implementation method you capture changes
    synchronously on the source database into change tables. This method uses
    internal database triggers to enable CDC. Capturing the change is part of the
    original transaction that introduces the change thus impacting the performance
    of the transaction.
    – Asynchronous Autolog CDC: this implementation method requires a staging
    database separate from the source database. Asynchronous Autolog CDC uses
    the database's redo transport services to transport redo log information from
    the source database to the staging database1. Changes are captured at the
    staging database. The impact to the source system is minimal, but there is some
    latency between the original transaction and the change being captured.
    As suggested in the document-
    Change Data Capture objects are exported and imported only as part of full database export and import operations (those in which the expdp and impdb commands specify the FULL=y parameter). Schema-level import and export
    operations include some underlying objects (for example, the table underlying a change table), but not the Change Data Capture metadata needed for change data capture to occur.
    ■ AutoLog change sources, change sets, and change tables are not supported.
    Starting in Oracle Database 10g, Oracle Data Pump is the supported export and import utility for Change Data Capture.
    Re-Creating AutoLog Change Data Capture Objects After an Import Operation
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14223/cdc.htm#i1027532
    After a Data Pump full database import operation completes for a database containing AutoLog Change Data Capture objects, the following steps must be performed to restore these objects:
    a. The publisher must manually drop the database objects underlying AutoLog Change Data Capture objects.
    b. The publisher must re-create the AutoLog change sources, change sets, and change tables using the appropriate DBMS_CDC_PUBLISH procedures.
    c. Subscribers must re-create their subscriptions to the AutoLog change sets.

    This is frequently caused by failing to meet APEX installation and configuration requirements. Ensure the DAD character set is AL32UTF8 and version of the PL/SQL Web Toolkit >= 10.1.2.0.6.
    The DAD may be at the location indicated in the documentation link below, or it may be somewhere else depending on the local configuration. The PL/SQL Web Toolkit can be checked using the query <tt>select owa_util.get_version from dual</tt> in the SQL Workshop.

  • SAP fresh installation with Oracle 11.2

    Dear all,
    Do you know if it's already possible to install a new SAP system with Oracle 11.2.
    I'm trying to install Solution Manager 7.0 ehp1 with Oracle 11.2.
    The problem is that SAPINST does not give me the possibility to choose oracle version 11.2. Only 10.2 is possible. (I patched SAPINST to the last version)
    If I select 10.2 SAPINST gives an error "The DB Home folder I:\oracle\PSM\112 has not the correct DB Server version 102. Select a different DB Home folder or install the correct database server software."
    Could anyone help me?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards,

    Hello,
    New installations of systems running with Oracle 11.2 are planned to be certified by early Q4 2010.
    For key information on the status of Oracle 11.2 database, read SAP Notes 1398634 and 1434131.

  • Launch apps with oracle jre 7

    With Apple discontinuing support jre 7 on its mountain lion, i am trying to find a way to launch my mac apps with oracle jre7. There are two situations occuring to me.
    1. Oracle jre7 could be before hand installed and my app should be able to detect and launch
    2 Or Bundle the oracle jre 7 with my Mac app and get into lauching it on mountain lion without any issues.
    Is there a better way or apple providing support in this regards.
    Help appreciated.

    Thanks NickClark_uk,
      I am able to install the java 7, but the Mac app i am trying to launch is unable to detect the oracle jre 7 and works fine with app store jre's. So we may need to bundle the jre or modify our apps to detect the installed JRE.
    I was looking at what would be the better approach in order to have my Mac app run with oracle jre 7.
    Thanks

  • Please Help:  A Problem With Oracle-Provided 'Working' Example

    A Problem With Oracle-Provided 'Working' Example Using htp.formcheckbox
    I followed the simple steps in the Oracle-provided example:
    Doc ID: Note:116534.1
    Subject: How to use checkbox in webdb for bulk update using webdb report
    However, when I select a checkbox and click on the Update button, I get a "ORA-01036: illegal variable name/number" error. Please advise. This was a very promising feature.
    Fred
    Below are step-by-step instructions provided by Oracle to create this "working" example:
    How to use a checkbox in WEBDB 2.2 report for bulk update.
    PURPOSE
    This article shows how checkbox can used placed on WEBDB report
    and how to use it.
    SCOPE & APPLICATION
    The following example to guide through the steps to create a working
    example of this.
    In this example, the checkbox is used to select the records. On clicking
    the update button, the pl/sql procedure is called which will update col1 to
    the string 'OK'.
    After the update is done, the PL/SQL procedure calls the report again.
    Since the report only select records where col1 is null, the updated
    records will not be displayed when the report is called again.
    Step 1 - Create Table
    From Sqlplus, log in as scott/tiger and execute the following:
    drop table chkbox_example;
    create table chkbox_example
    (id varchar2(10) not null,
    comments varchar2(20),
    col1 varchar2(10));
    Step 2 - Insert Test Data
    From Sqlplus, still logged in as scott/tiger , execute the following:
    declare
    l_i number;
    begin
    for l_i in 1..50 loop
    insert into chkbox_example values (l_i, 'Comments ' || l_i , NULL);
    end loop;
    commit;
    end;
    Step 3 -Create SQL Query based WEBDB report
    Logon to a WEBDB site which has access to the database the above tables are created.
    Create a SQL based Report.
    Name the report :RPT_CHKBOX
    The select statement for the report is :
    select c.id, c.comments, c.col1,
    htf.formcheckbox('p_qty',c.id) Tick
    from SCOTT.chkbox_example c
    where c.col1 is null
    In Advanced PL/SQL, (REPORT, Before displaying the form), put the following code
    htp.formOpen('scott.chkbox_process');
    htp.formsubmit('p_request','Update');
    htp.br;
    htp.br;
    Step 4 - Create a stored procedure in the database
    Log on to the database as scott/tiger and execute the following to create the
    procedure.
    Note: Replace WEBDB to the appropriate webdb user for your installation.
    In my database, I had installed webdb using WEBDB username, hence user webdb owns
    the packages.
    create or replace procedure chkbox_process
    ( p_request in varchar2 default null,
    p_qty in wwv_utl_api_types.vc_arr ,
    p_arg_names in wwv_utl_api_types.vc_arr ,
    p_arg_values in wwv_utl_api_types.vc_arr
    is
    i number;
    begin
    for i in 1..p_qty.count loop
    if p_qty(i) is not null then
    begin
    update chkbox_example
    set col1 = 'OK'
    where chkbox_example.id = p_qty(i);
    end;
    end if;
    end loop;
    commit;
    /* To Call Report again after updating */
    SCOTT.RPT_CHKBOX.show
    (p_request=>'Run Report',
    p_arg_names=>webdb.wwv_standard_util.string_to_table2(' '),
    p_arg_values=>webdb.wwv_standard_util.string_to_table2(' '));
    end;
    Summary
    There are essentially 2 main modules, The WEBDB report and the pl/sql procedure (chkbox_process)
    A button is created via the advanced pl/sql coding which shows on top of the report. (The
    button cannot be placed at the bottom of the report due to the way WEBDB creates the procedure
    internally)
    When any button is clicked on the report, it calls the pl/sql procedure chkbox_process.
    The procedure is called , WEBDB always passes the parameters p_request,p_arg_names and o_arg_values.
    p_qty is another parameter that we are passing additionally, This comes from the checkbox created
    using the htf.formcheckbox in the report select statement.
    The pl/sql procedure calls the report again after processing. This is done to
    show how to call the report.
    Restrictions:
    -The Next and Prev buttons on the report will not work.
    So it is important that the report can fit in 1 page only.
    (This may mean that you will not select(not ticked) 'Paginate' under
    'Display Option' in the WEBDB report. If you do this,
    then in Step 4, remove p_arg_names and p_arg_values as input parameters
    to the chkbox_process)

    If your not so sure you can use the instanceof
    insurance,
    Object o = evt.getSource();
    if (o instanceof Button) {
    Button source = (Button) o;
    I haven't thoroughly read the thread, but I use something like this:if (evt.getSource() == someObjRef) {
        // do that voodoo
    ]I haven't looked into why you'd be creating a new reference...

  • Making Siebel Run Fast with Oracle CBO – New PPS Recommendation - optimizer

    Hi All,
    I have some good news if you are upgrading to Oracle CBO. This is a big new find that we discovered a few weeks back.
    There is a certain class of queries that run very slow with the default Siebel recommended settings. Please keep in mind that in order to properly do explain plans in 10G with Siebel SQL you need to issue the following alter session statements. Also if you are using TOAD you have to uncheck the run queries in parallel since if that option is checked a new session will be launched and your options won’t be set.
    ALTER SESSION SET OPTIMIZER_MODE = FIRST_ROWS_10 ;
    ALTER SESSION SET "_OPTIMIZER_SORTMERGE_JOIN_ENABLED" = FALSE ;
    ALTER SESSION SET "_OPTIMIZER_JOIN_SEL_SANITY_CHECK" = TRUE;
    ALTER SESSION SET "_HASH_JOIN_ENABLED" = FALSE;
    The key new find is that the Oracle recommendation of setting optimizer_index_cost_adj = 1 is wrong! Our new recommendation is to set this parameter to 10.
    Here are some more details. This is not a silver bullet for all your Oracle performance tuning issues. Remember it is best to tune specific things that are slow from an end users perspective. In fact that is how we discovered this issue and its solution.
    There is one specific class of queries that this setting will fix. You can issue alter session statements to see the difference in your explain plans. Here is how you will know the query:
    •     Where clause on an intersection table and index that exists that would find just one row. This is the index we want Oracle to use.
    •     Order by on BC base table and another index exists that would satisfy the order by. We don’t want to use this index since millions of rows would be accessed.
    •     Explain plan shows the index for the order by is used instead of the index for the where clause that would have found a single row.
    Here is the actual statement we encountered that lead to our discovery.
    WHERE
    T8.PR_HELD_POSTN_ID = T2.PAR_ROW_ID (+) AND
    T2.BU_ID = T5.ROW_ID (+) AND
    T7.ROW_ID = T4.PAR_ROW_ID AND
    T7.ROW_ID = T8.PAR_ROW_ID AND
    T7.ROW_ID = T3.PAR_ROW_ID AND
    T7.ROW_ID = T6.PAR_ROW_ID (+) AND
    T8.PR_RESP_ID = T1.ROW_ID (+) AND
    (T8.EMP_FLG = 'Y') AND
    (T3.LOGIN = 'UATUSER')
    ORDER BY
    T8.LAST_NAME, T8.FST_NAME
    In addition at OOW this week we heard that an Oracle RAC expert presented Siebel on RAC and recommended setting this parameter back to its default of 100. We also talked with a very senior DBA colleague who made the same discovery over a year ago and is running with is parameter set to 25.
    I can tell you that for us any setting from 1-9 gave the bad access path. 10 fixes the issue.
    This find is so important that we wanted to get this out to the Siebel community ASAP.

    Hi All,
    I know it is bad to reply to your own posts but this one is too good. Here is another example of this that all of us have.
    With oica = 1 the m1 index is used and this runs a long time. With oica = 10 m6 is used and that clearly is the index Oracle wants to use since it matches the where clause exactly.
    This is from the basic select we all run as part of Server Tables Clean Up. I am even including the alter session statements so you can see the drastic improvement yourself.
    ALTER SESSION SET optimizer_mode = FIRST_ROWS_10;
    ALTER SESSION SET "_OPTIMIZER_SORTMERGE_JOIN_ENABLED" = FALSE;
    ALTER SESSION SET "_OPTIMIZER_JOIN_SEL_SANITY_CHECK" = TRUE;
    ALTER SESSION SET HASH_JOIN_ENABLED = FALSE;          -- "_HASH_JOIN_ENABLED" in 10G
    ALTER SESSION SET OPTIMIZER_INDEX_COST_ADJ = 1; -- then change this to 10 and run EP again.
    SELECT
    T1.CONFLICT_ID,
    T1.LAST_UPD,
    T1.CREATED,
    T1.LAST_UPD_BY,
    T1.CREATED_BY,
    T1.MODIFICATION_NUM,
    T1.ROW_ID,
    T1.ACTION_ID
    FROM
    SIEBEL.S_SRM_REQUEST T1
    WHERE
    ((T1.STATUS IN ( 'SUCCESS' ) OR T1.STATUS IN ( 'EXPIRED' ) OR T1.STATUS IN ( 'COMPLETE' ))
         AND T1.TGT_DELETE_TS <= TO_DATE('11/20/2007 16:26:27','MM/DD/YYYY HH24:MI:SS'))

  • Error while running BPEL Process with Oracle Apps Adapter.

    Hi All,
    I am trying to configure the oracle apps adapter in JDeveloper.
    Here my EBS is running on different database where as SOA is installed on different database.
    I am able to properly configure the adapter & deploy the process to weblogic server.
    But when I am trying to run the process I am getting following errorr.
    <p>
    The JCA Binding Component was unable to establish an outbound JCA CCI connection due to the following issue: BINDING.JCA-12510\nJCA Resource Adapter location error.\nUnable to locate the JCA Resource Adapter via .jca binding file element <connection-factory/>\nThe JCA Binding Component is unable to startup the Resource Adapter specified in the <connection-factory/> element: location='*<JNDI Name passed in Oracle apps Adapter.>*'.\nThe reason for this is most likely that either \n 1) the Resource Adapters RAR file has not been deployed successfully to the WebLogic Application server or \n 2) the '<jndi-name>' element in weblogic-ra.xml has not been set to <JNDI Name passed in Oracle apps Adapter.>
    </p>
    Please suggest the solution for the same.
    its really urgent . waiting for reply.

    Have you created a connection pool with the JNDI specified while configuring adapter in Oracle Apps adapter on weblogic admin console. You should create it at Deployments --> OracleAppsAdapter --> Configuration--> Outbound Connection pools
    Make sure to update the adapter after creating a connection pool so that changes can take effect.

    Hi Trombone,
    As you are using One Way Send Port you will have to specifically maintain/manage Correlation between the outgoing and incoming message. You can do that by initializing any Correlation Set and later following the same on next receive shape.
    For this either you will have to identify some common element between the outgoing and incoming message or create something like explained in below.
    Please check the below example- Implementing Correlation (Property Promotion) without any Common Element
    Thanks,

  • Running a web server along with Oracle XE - Port 8080 problem & solution

    Hi,
    My company is tight on computing power so we're using an older machine to run our Oracle XE instance and our Apache web server. The Apache server is using port 80 to host the website, while Oracle XE is using port 8080 for APEX.
    Initially this did not pose any problems, but as when our consultants were at clients sites they weren't able to access port 8080. This was a huge problem for us since we use APEX for our time sheet system.
    I could have used a 2nd computer to host the APEX engine on port 80 (if you want to know how to do this just search the forum), but I didn't have an extra machine at my disposal.
    After doing some reading I found that I could modify the Apache httpd.conf file (/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf for linux systems) to handle this. I thought I'd post my results for others in the same situation:
    - #Search for the mod_proxy section and add the following:
    - ProxyRequests Off
    - #This maps the :8080/apex to :80/apex
    - ProxyPass /apex http://www.mydomain.com:8080/apex
    - ProxyPassReverse /apex http://www.mydomain.com:8080/apex
    - #This maps the :8080/i/ (for images) to :80/apex.
    - #YOU NEED THIS since all images and js calls reference the /i/ directory
    - ProxyPass /i http://www.mydomain.com:8080/i
    - ProxyPassReverse /i http://www.mydomain.com:8080/i
    - #Search for Alias and add the following:
    - #This is optional. It will allow a simple url for your users to access a common application
    - Redirect /myapps http://www.mydomain.com/apex/f?p=100
    Of course you can add some restirctions, and verification for the apache module to the conf above, but I thought I'd keep it basic for this example.
    Hope this helps others in the same sitation.

    Thanks for all the responses I got,
    Martin, Thank you
    I tried the same advises on my static IP address and it works fine, and very quickly some times, thank you.
    My Appache function well and I test a sample webpage.
    The domain name did not succeed in my network, may be because its a fake one, I do not really know but I already have an active domain but want to use it when the things will work for sure in all the aspects, and finish the tests.
    Your advises were very useful for me.
    But I still get the TCP_Error with timeout, some times, I think, the issue is related to the network now (not sure, but the tests takes long time and I prefere to let you know the development for now) , I'm trying to fix the network, as much as I can to get the perfect performance. But I just wonder about the Listener , may be there is something we need to change, still testing
    Did you tried your applications onsite from multiple workstations at the same time in Oracle XE using your web server?
    Appriciate your help and all other attendants.
    Thanks
