Setting up iMac,2 x iPhone 4S and iPad 2 together for two people on same email address/account.

My wife and I share the above hardware.However we seem to continually run into issues of incompatibility as though we are not correctly set up.For example,if I text my wife it goes to iPad and also sends message back to me.She does not receive it.
It appears that we need some assistance on how to arrange our settings correctly.Ideally we don't want two email addresses.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Im not sure if I'm experiencing the exact same symptoms, but it seems to me every time the ipad goes to sleep / left unused for 8-10 minutes, the wifi link between the devices is lost, and i have to reconnect them again.

Recurring theme with the 4s losing alerts except for the phone ringing. Most complaints seem to center on the 7.1 upgrade. The fix is dodgy, putting in a charger, playing a you tube video then pulling out the charger and wiggling it until you get the sound back. When you get the sound back, the volume buttons start to work again. Alternate solutions involve cleaning the docking port with a toothbrush, running a pick over the electrodes etc.

The iphone is not a storage/backup device.
You need to copy everything from the old computer, or backup copy of the old computer, to the new one.

An icloud account is designed to be used by one user. That user can have all his/her devices synced with the same Apple data (email, contacts, calendars, notes, reminders, etc.) . When two people use the same account, then problems usually occur when one user edits data that the other user doesn't want changed on their device. You can continue sharing the same ID for the itunes account in order to share the purchased music, apps, etc. itunes accounts and icloud accounts are different.
It's by far better that each user has his/her own icloud account.

The Apple ID and Password that was Originally used to Activate the iDevice is required
If you do not have that information you will not be able to use the Device.

Something went wrong with the update, this can and does happen with every version of iOS.
There is nothing wrong with the update.
Simply restore the device via iTunes on the computer.
If iTunes is stating it will take hours to update, that indicates an extremely slow Internet connection and is likely the reason the OTA update failed.

make sure it's not being connected to by any of the other two
one can only connect 1 device at the time and just by waking up sometimes a headset connects to a device
automaticly
then forget the bluetooth device in OS X and put the headset in pairing mode / discovery mode and connect with it once again with the mac
