Setting up testing server with MySQL

I am just migrating to the MacBook from an older iMac G5. I was running PHP with MySQL 4.1.15. I just downloaded the PHP 5.2.2 and need to know which version of MySQL will run with it on my MacBook. Any help, please, especially if you are using Dreamweaver and have migrated to CS3. Thanks, Jay

Hi
I am successfully running MySQL 5.0.37 with PHP 5.2.1. (I don't use Dreamweaver or CS3 though.)

  • Issue with Setting Up Test Server for PHP/MySQL to work

I've got a few newbie issues
which I hope someone can help with!
I'm trying to get Security Assist to work, so I've put MYSQL and workbench on my computer to get it going. I haven't created a test server in PHP, because I'm wondering if it will affect my already running website ftp? Will it take down my company website if I create a test server with the same ftp as my website?
So, I created a model in workbench (table) and I've tried to connect mysql to dreamweaver. I keep getting an error when I try to connect!
Despite the error saying an error has occurred..I have something which looks like a plus (+) sitting in my database area on DW, but it says there's no tables there! And in mysql there is a table!
I'm a bit bloody lost to tell you the truth. Just changing the password on mysql to get going was horrendous.
Anybody have a solution to get me going, so that my tables are sitting nicely in my dW and can be connected to my SA (Security Assist).
    Ugh!

The first question: on what platform? Windows - Mac?
I only succeeded in setting up a testing server on my Mac
with PHP and MySQL after reading a book of David Powers. On Leopard
I belief there still are problems connecting PHP to MySQL.

  • Set Up Test Server

The guy who developed our website recently disappeared
leaving me with the responsibility of making the minor changes we
needt to make. I only think this is relevant because I really have
no business doing this and I'm hoping that you all will help me
through my issue and not tell me to hire a professional.
Anyway I installed Dreamweaver and IIS on my XP Pro machine.
I set up the remote server and downloaded (Get) the entire site
onto a network drive. I set the Local root folder to the location
that I downloaded the site. I set the Testing Server folder to the
same location. Given my experience I thought I would change/test in
the local copy of the site and then Put the changes up for the
    world to see.
The URL Prefix for my Testing Server is:
    http://localhost/.
When I try to preview my changes I get a page can not be
found error. I believe this is because the local copy of my website
is not in the C:\Inetpub folder. Do I have to move it?
Do I have to set up a Virtual Directory in IIS? Is it right
that I can't do this if my website is on a network drive?
My website does not have a wwwroot page, does that matter?
I read IIS and Dreamweaver help files today and still
couldn't figure this out. Thanks for the help.
    Po
Also - I tried to copy the installation of the software on
his computer but it doesn't work. I think he changed stuff and IIS
    isn't even there.

Is the site using ASP? Or ASP.NET?

all 3 instances reside on single server we use netapp snapshot backup what it will do is it will take all db's snapshot in same time (hotbackup). The snapshots are NOT instantaneous!
If they were actually frozen in time, the DB would be consistent & open.
The snapshot must be handled as any other online (hot) backup.
    ALTER SYSTEM SWITCH LOGFILE;
    alter database begin backup
    -- take hot backup
    alter database end backup
    ALTER SYSTEM SWITCH LOGFILE;
Restore backed up files, then apply all redos inclusive to steps above

  • Can I use Oracle app server with mysql

Can I use Oracle app server with mysql. I seem to have the following error when trying to create a datastore. I have mysql.jar in my classpath. Can any one tell me what's wrong.
Error initializing data-source 'jdbc/topup': DriverManagerDataSource driver 'org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver' not found

Yes you can forward requests from your own apache to the iAS. This can be done using mod_proxy. Some hints about how to do this are availlable on this forum.
mod_oc4j is not a standard apache module, and therefore is not availlable when you download apache. There is no apparent reason to use mod_oc4j on a "regular" webserver (unless you want to build your own iAS). Also there might be some licenseing issues with using mod_oc4j module on a standard apache.
You can encrypt data that is passed from a random Apache to you iAS.

  • Problems setting up testing server CS5 with existing PhP site copied to hard drive

A couple of years ago I dabbled in CS3 & PhP, but haven't touched it since 2009.  I still have WAMP loaded on my machines.  I'm now in a work situation where I was asked to see if I could make some simple copy updates to sites written in PhP.  I copied the entire sites over to my hard drive, and placed them in the WAMP www root folder, and followed instructions to setting up the site in CS5 (which is pretty close to the CS3 setup).  I made sure WAMP was running, and I'm still unable to connect. I am using "localhost" as part of the URL for the web server designation. I continue to get an "internal server error" message on these pages.  I am able to, from my browser, type in "http:localhost" and it appears that WAMP is running properly. And I do remember to start WAMP before I start a DW session.
So, I kept experimenting.  If I define a new PhP site and create a test document with simple PhP code, the connection to the testing server works and renders the code.  It's just the existing PhP site I've copied over generates the Internal server message.
Is there something basic I'm not understanding about viewing and manipulating a PhP site created by someone else using DW CS5?

  • Need Help Setting Up Testing Server

Hi. I have been using Dreamweaver for a while, but am
extremely new at the whole testing server thing, as I have been
    building only simple pure-html pages.
I am want to password protect a part of my site using the
Insert > Data Objects > User Authentication > Log In User.
I have already converted my whole site from .html pages to
.php pages, because I thought that .html pages wouldn't work.
Everytime I try to use that Log In User menu command,
Dreamweaver gives me a dialog box that says, "Before inserting this
object, please do the following: 1. Create a site for this file 2.
Choose a document type 3. Set up the site's testing server".
Numbers 1 and 2 have a checkbox which I am assuming means they are
done correctly. But number 3 (set up teh site's testing server) has
no checkbox and the dialog box will not allow me to click OK, which
leads me to assume that I need to accomplish the aforementioned
    step number 3.
So I go to the Site Definition for my site and under the
Advanced Tab go to Testing Server. I want PHP MySQL as the server
model, so I chose that. And I am guessing I need to choose
Local/Network for the Access option because
the computer I am building this site on is not connected to the
internet. (I have no intention of hooking this machine up to
the internet becauase all of my work I have ever done is on it!)
Now, here lies my main question: What should the Testing
server folder be? And what should the URL prefix be? And do I need
    to change anything else?
If I am not being clear about anything regarding my
questions, please make a point of it, and I will try to be more
    clear.
Thank you so much for helping!

  • Errors when trying to set up testing server in CS3

    Hi,
Ive tried to find the answer to this by googling, but cant
    sort it out.
Ive been setting up php/apache/mysql in windows vista -
    dwcs3.
Please bear in mind that I am very wet behind the ears with
    all this , at
    the moment.
Ive been working out of Davids Essentials - CS3 ver. book.
    All was going
well. I tested php with the test.php page that was in the
    book download.
Tested Apache - got the "It worked" page.
Ive got the Apache symbol in the bottom tray, with the little
    green arrow in
    the feather.
So far so - so good.
Then I set up the testing server stuff for dreamweaver. Used
    the server
    root .
Did everything - so I thought - by the instructions.
Tested a php page, by clicking on "live data view" in DW -
    then got the
"Forbidden. You dont have permission to access
    /php_testing/datatest_40uvgbduqp.php on this server"
Im lost at this point. I searched google, but cant really get
    an answer to
it there, there was some stuff about changing permissions,
    but Im not really
sure how to do this with a local site. and php/apache seemed
    to be working
before setting up the testing server in DW.
Also, when I go to my browser and browse to
    localhost/test.php or whatever,
it tells me it cant display the page, cos Im not logged in.
    Any help, would be wonderful.

After one headache, more googling, and hours of scanning the
    apache
configuration file, I think I found it.
I had changed the root folder from the standard
    C:/programfiles/apache..../etc to D:/htdocs but the
    configuration file in
Apache was still showing the original root folder path.
Just for interest sake, if I did have to change the
    permissions on files
that were just on my local computer, how do you do that, or
    should I ever
    need to do that?
    Regards

  • Will not set up testing server

I have done this in the past many times. Recently DW 8 will
not set up a testing server when I chose local network.
I am running Windows XP Pro, version 5.1, Service Pack 2.
    This is driving me crazy.
    Any help.
Also, I can figure out how to call and pay Macromedia for
help with this. Any advice on that.
    Thanks.

    > Testing server folder points to a folder.
    > URL is
    http://localhost
Actually, the path to the testing server would usually be
    like -
    c:\inetpub\wwwroot
And usually, you would want your testing server to point to a
    FOLDER within
    the webserver's root, e.g.,
    c:\inetpub\wwwroot\folder
Use a different folder for each site so that you don't get
    all your site's
files jumbled up in the webserver's root folder.
Then you would want to specify a URL prefix for your site of
    http://localhost/folder
    So -
    Server Model: ASP VBScript
    Access: Local/Network
    Testing server folder: c:\inetpub\wwwroot\folder
    URL Prefix:
    http://localhost/folder
Is that how you have it?

  • Need help setting up web server with WRT54GS

    Hello,
I am trying to set up a web server with my linksys router. For the network settings, I have used 192.168.001.150 as my primary IP (192.168.1.150, all 3 numerical characters have to be filled in), 255.255.255.000 as my primary netmask and 192.168.001.001 (192.168.1.1) as my gateway. I have gone into my router and then enabled port fowarding for port 80 to 192.168.1.150 but I still cannot access my web server. What could be the problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to set up this server so I can test scripts and things.

  • How to set up a local testing server with local-only access

    Hi folks,
I've reached the point where I need to do some simple server-side scripting in my Dreamweaver work. I work remotely pretty often, so I want to be able to preview my work without having to go back and forth to the production server. It seems to me the solution would be to install a little web server on my laptop, BUT I'm concerned about security. Is there any way I can set up a local webhost but not make it accessible to the outside world?
I'm really pretty clueless about this stuff, so I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks!

I would recommend using XAMPP Lite.  It's very lightweight and portable when installed on a USB drive or flash stick.

  • Replace Quotes, Connection Pooling, and Sun Web Server with MySQL, Oracle

This is code I use to insert data into my MySQL and Oracle databases.
I takes care of quotes and shows use of context, i.e. when you use Sun Web Server's
ConnectionPooling. This code works. Feel free to reply if you have questions on how to set up connection pooling using Sun Web Server 6.1SP - it took quite a long time to learn and I couldn't find much information throughout the web, so I hope this helps...

This is in one class where I have a hashtable containing the
column name / value pairs that I want to enter into my table.
This class simply creates the SQL string from the values in the
hashtable. It then passes that hashtable including the database
name to a class which executes that sql statement (second code
    portion).
/* Insert data into sf_parts. Create the column strings from

This is code I use to insert data into my MySQL and
    Oracle databases.
I takes care of quotes and shows use of context, i.e.
when you use Sun Web Server's
ConnectionPooling. This code works. Feel free to
reply if you have questions on how to set up
connection pooling using Sun Web Server 6.1SP - it
took quite a long time to learn and I couldn't find
much information throughout the web, so I hope this
    helps...
This is not a question and I am not looking for an
answer, but please post comments or suggestions.Using prepared statements would mean that you wouldn't have to worry about quotes.
You should be closing the result set.
You are handling all fields as strings. That won't work with time fields and might not work for numeric fields.
Presumably most of your variables are member variables. They should be local variables because that is the scope of the usage.
You must do something with the exceptions.
Hashtables although convienent mean that problems with usage can only be resolved at run time rather than compile time.

  • Can't set up Exchange Server with 3G

I'm very frustrated. I upgraded primarily so I can get push email / calendar from my work. It doesn't seem to be able to set me up. Could this be a port or settings issue at work? I was told that this shouldn't be an issue.
Yes, I've put in my email and password correctly. After clicking next it asks me for my exchange server address which I supply. It then says "verification failed". I've tried every possible combination.
We do also use exchange access through webmail. Should I use this instead of my rather long exchange address? Could it be an issue with multiple servers?
Am I the only one having problems?

make sure you're entering it correctly, sounds daft but if your webmail address is
    http://mail.company.com/exchange
then all you enter on the phone is
    mail.company.com
    Hope this helps

  • Is there a public test server with remote objects?

    Hi all,
I have to give a lecture about RMI and I have succesfully executed remote method invocations with client and server both on my local machine. Is there any machine outside with remote objects whose methods I can call? (Calling a real remote object would be more spectacular than calling a remote object residing on my local machine!)
    Greetings,
    Alfred

I dont believe so, but there is no reason you cannot set up a small server on another machine on your network that you could connect to in your lecture.
