Setting up WLS domain

Hi guys:
I am setting up WLS domain on the sun box but running into following errors when starting up the weblogic admin server.

Did you see the directions on page 3-11 of the WLS 6.0 Administration Guide? I
followed these steps, and was able to create a new domain. I found them to be
clear.

Hello all,
Instead of working with "mydomain" and "myserver" I want to create my
own domain.
IMHO, the documentation on e-docs is not very clear on the steps that
are necessary
to do this.
What are the steps, or where can I find better documentation on creating
a domain?

    Hello All,

I'm not sure what you are doing.
You should be doing something like this:
    D:\70domains\test>set CLASSPATH=D:\wls702\weblogic700\server\lib\weblogic.
    jar
    D:\70domains\test>java weblogic.Server

Enter username to boot WebLogic server:
    You should see that.
No need to set WLS_HOME. No need to copy the weblogic.jar. Just point the
CLASSPATH to the weblogic.jar of where you installed WLS.

    Hi,
    This worked for me,
    1. Navigate to the directory where you ran the config.bat script.
    2. Use use a text editor open the config.bat file.
    3. Locate this line in the file : SET CONFIG_JVM_ARGS=%CONFIG_JVM_ARGS% -DCOMMON_COMPONENTS_HOME=%COMMON_COMPONENTS_HOME%
    4. Append this string to the end -Duser.timezone="+02:00" and run the config script again.
    5. also check that the oracle db timezone is set correctly.
    SQL> select sessiontimezone from dual;
    SESSIONTIMEZONE
    +02:00
Hope that helps -- it worked for me.

  • Problems setting up a Domain - javax.management.InstanceNotFoundException

I am having problems setting up a Domain. The following steps summarize
    what I have done.
    1. Created FooDomain in d:/bea/wlserver6.0/config and created
appropriate config.xml, startup scripts, security, etc... (FooDomain
    boots ok)
    2. Moved console.war to bea/wlserver6.0/config/FooDomain/applications
    3. Connected to FooDomain via console (works ok).
    4. Defined machine FooMachine (happens to be localhost)
    5. Defined new server FooServer (in addition to default myserver) and
    assigned it to FooMachine.
    6. Created a new directory d:/managedServers/FooServer (note - outside
    installation directory)
    7. Created directories d:/managedServers/FooServer/logs &
    d:/managedServers/FooServer/applications
    8. Copied sample startManagedServer.cmd from mydomain to
    d:/managedServers/FooServer & modified appropriately.
    9. Ran startManagedServer.cmd (Note: I was able to connect to the
    Administration Server ok)
The problems are as follows. (From the console - pointing to the
    Administration Server for the FooDomain)
    1. I am unable to configure a DefaultWebApp_FooServer to be located at
d:/managedServers/FooServer/applications. I get the following exeption:
    javax.management.InstanceNotFoundException:
    FooDomain:Name=DefaultWebApp_FooServer,Type=WebAppComponent.
    2. I get a similar error when trying to set FooServer log locations to
    d:/managedServers/FooServer/logs
Any ideas as to why? This then begs the question, what if FooServer was
on a different physical server altogether. How would I define the
location of the DefaultWebApp and logs.
    Thanks

If you want your application work, think my way. At least, all my teammates have used this method to build their development environment. If you are more interested to debug for Weblogic, contact your support representative. The tools from Administration console look very nice, but not function as you want (e.g., the tool to convert version 5.1 application to version 6, even monitor tools). Administration console is very nice to be used to configue the parameters for a domain, but not so trustful and not for application setup in my own experience and that is why I suggest you use mydomain and DefaultWebApp_MyServer as templates. By the way, I did modify config.xml manually to change the default web application entry, etc, to what I want.
    Jay Zammit <[email protected]> wrote:
I did not modify config.xml manually. In fact, I am able to boot both the Administration Server & Managed Server. The problem happens when using the Administration console to assign my logs and Default Applications directory to the d:/managedServers/FooServer/logs, and d:/managedServers/FooServer/applications/DefaultWebApp_FooServer directories. Try it yourself. Go to the Configurer WebApp option and type in a fully qualified directory such as d:/managedServers/FooServer/applications/DefaultWebApp_FooServer
and see if it works on your system.

One suggestion. Use the default domain mydomain as a template. Just make a copy of "mydomain" in folder config and rename the copy to whatever you like. Use some help tools to search all files (non-binary files) in new domain for key word "mydomain" and replace these words with your new domain name. To build an application, just rename the DefaultWebApp_MyServer to what you like and search "DefaultWebApp_MyServer" in all files (non-binary files) in your new domain and replace these words with yournew application name. Note you need to modify the scripts accordingly. Then you can run "startWeblogic" in your new domain directory to start your new domain. Other parameters should be configured by Administration console. If you manually modify configuration files, you could expect some bad news without reason.

  • APEX_MAIL - how to set the SMTP Domain

    APEX Version: 3.0.0.00.20
I need to be able to set the domain for mail sent from my application. I have used package UTL_SMTP in the past and have set the domain in the call:
    utl_smtp.helo(conn, smtp_domain);
Is it possible to set the domain when using the APEX_MAIL package in a similar fashion, or as an attribute in APEX?
By default the domain sent appears to be 10.0.20.56 on email sent using APEX_MAIL and I cannot determine where this value is coming from. I have one user who complains that his email client is dealing with this email as spam because of this setting and I would like to set it to a different value if possible.
    Any help is much appreciated.
    James Edey

    Hi John,
Thanks for your reply (have you recovered from Brussels yet?).
I think we use an Exchange server - all of that stuff is handled by our Network Services guys. I forwarded your reply on to one of them and got the following response:
"Our mail relay (Hardy) uses its own domain name . The problem is definitely with the HELO from Ethap5, which generates a second set of headers examined by the anti-spam package."
ethap5 is the server creating the email using APEX. If I could set up the domain name via the HELO (as I can using UTL_SMTP) then that would fix the problem. If push comes to shove I may just revert to using UTL_SMTP instead of APEX_MAIL.

  • Steps to set up my domain with Apache

    Hello,
I would like to know the steps to set up my domain with Apache including the use of DNS Services. I have DNS services (http://www.dnsexit.com) . I just don't know where to begin with it adding my domain. I've already went  to my preferences>>sharing>> web sharing and turned it on. My domain host is netfirms. I have an actiontec model- m1424-wr  router  and I have a verizon fios wireless connection that's always on. I've been doing my research on this. I'm just stuck on this part. However is it true that php/mysql is pre-installed on Mac osx 10.6? I hope I can get help. Thank you in advance.

Your description is somewhat incomplete. I assume that dnsexit.com provides dynamic DNS and that you registered a domain name with NetFirms (you say "domain host", but I presume that you just registered the domain name and they aren't actually hosting it; hosting means that your web site is on their computers instead of yours). I'll also assume that you mean that you intend to run a web server on your Mac through your FiOS connection (not a great idea, and potentially a violation of FiOS' terms of service unless you bought their commercial plan).
If all of those assumptions are correct, you need to:
    1. Contact NetFirms and tell them to point your domain to DNSExit's name servers: ns1.dnsExit.com and ns2.dnsExit.com and ns3.dnsExit.com and ns4.dnsExit.com
    2. After step 1 is complete, you need to install a dynamic DNS update client on a computer in your network that will always be on (DNSExit has them and installation and set-up instructions). These programs will periodically check the IP address of your network and, if it changes, will update the record at DNSExit so that sites can find it. Note that you are using FiOS so the IP address of your router is expected to change periodically; this works around that. Your router has 2 IP addresses: the WAN is the IP address exposed to the world through your FiOS connect, and the LAN, which is an address local to your home network.
    3. Login to your ActionTEC router as the adminsitrator. You can do this through your web browser. The LAN IP address of the router is the gateway address indicated in the Network preference pane for your ethernet connection. The modem documentation tells you the default password for the router (make sure to change it).
Perform the following tasks on the router (though the advanced options, you'll want to poke around to find them):
    a. check the DHCP address ranges (usually it says that it will give out IP addresses from 192.168.1.100-192.168.1.200 or similar). Note it down. You're going to want to give the computer that acts as the web server a static IP address outside that range.
    b. Choose an address outside the DHCP range that isn't already in use and write it down. This will be the static IP addres you will set on your web server.
    c. Locate the Firewall/NAT settings on the router and add a rule to forward traffic on ports 80 and 443 to the IP address you had chosen.
    4. On the computer that will be the web server, start web-sharing.
    5. Go to the network preferences and configure the static IP address that you selected. Use the same gateways and DNS settings that were assigned by DHCP.
... and that's it. If you performed all those steps properly, requests to your domain will be sent to your FiOS modem and forwarded on to the designated computer for a response.
PHP and Apache are preinstalled on the Mac. MySQL is not. You will need to download and install MySQL yourself.

  • Do you need .Mac accout to set up personal domain name!?

i've just bought iLife '08 and i thought you could publish your own websites through iWeb. But so far it looks like i have to pay 60 odd quid on a .Mac account!! what a p* take!!

The "set up personal domain" is for directing a personal domain name at your .Mac account. This is of no use to you if you are hosting with a commercial service.
When you host your website on the Apple server with a .Mac account your URL is something like this....
    http://web.mac.com/YourName/YourWebsiteName/PageName.html
You can register a domain name and direct it at your .Mac account so that the URL is more like...
    http://www.yourname.com/pagename.html
When you are using a commercial hosting service you register your domain name and instruct the registration company to direct it at your servers IP address.

I have run into this same problem and below is the fix.
Run below command  to see the logon format
    Get-OwaVirtualDirectory -Identity "owa (Default Web Site)"|fl name,server,*auth*,*logon*,*domain*
    Look for LogonFormat values
    LogonFormat                             : UserName- (Wrong One)
LogonFormat                             : Domain - (Correct one)
If you find the first one (Wrong One) then i would suggest you to run the below command to change the log on format to domain which will solve your problem
Set-OwaVirtualDirectory -Identity "owa (Default Web Site)" -LogonFormat FullDomain
    Cheers !!

  • WLS domain creation errors using new release (v5)

I'm running into errors in Step 5 of the beta install. I've completely uninstalled the previous version of everything (including RCU drop/create) and done a clean install using the files on the beta site after the announcement of the new release was made this morning.
It seems that the version string entries in "schema_version_registry" created by RCU differ. The "User Messaging", "OWSM MDS" and "SOA MDS" schemas all get created with version string "11.1.1.2.0" but "BAM" and "SOA Infrastructure" schemas are created with version "11.1.1.3.0". The WLS domain creation utility runs queries for ALL schemas having version "11.1.1.2.0", so the BAM and SOA Infrastructure schemas fail the test.
Should I manually edit the version strings in schema_version_registry so they all match 11.1.1.2.0 or will this cause problems elsewhere?
Here are the failing queries that the "Test Component Schema" screen is running for the WLS Domain creation step:
    SQL Test=select 1 from schema_version_registry where owner=(select user from dual) and mr_type='BAM' and version='11.1.1.2.0'

The failure occurs on step 3 - while installing the SOA patchset it gives an error at 45% completion: "File not found - C:\Oracle\Middleware\home_bpmbeta\oracle_common\bin\commonenv.bat.template".
I checked and that file does not exist on the filesystem. • Setting cookies across domains

    Hi there all,
I'm posting this in desperation to be honest, don't think
    there is a cut'n'dried
    answer to this one.
I've got a horrible situation, (don't ask why, it's far too
    complex and to
be quite honest.. boring :) ).
I'm trying to "mesh" together a classic .asp with an asp.NET
    site on 2
    separate domains.
Basically I've got a page from the asp.NET site (eg.
    www.something.co.uk)
displayed within an iframe on the .asp (eg
    www.another.co.uk). So far so
    good.
I need to set a cookie on www.another.co.uk and be able to
    read it, or
replicate it on www.something.co.uk. Because they are not
    sub-domains I can't
set the cookie direct because of security restrictions.
So, I thought I could pass a URL variable across to
    www.something.co.uk via
the iframe URL, and then using javascript to read said URL
    variable and set
a cookie on the www.something.co.uk domain. No go. Suspect
    there is yet
again security restrictions to setting cookies across domains
    using iframe.
So I'm kind of stuck. Can anybody suggest anything please,
    bearing in mind I
have very limited control over the asp.NET
    (www.something.co.uk) site, so
any solution I come up with needs to be using javascript.
    Major sized thanks in advance.
    @ndyB

You could also pass the id as a hidden field in a form.
Have the link call a JavaScript function. The JavaScript funcition could access the cookie and pull out the id. The function would then set a hidden field in a form to the id value and then Post the form to the secure server.
The form would only have hidden fields so it could be tagged on the end of the HTML page and the user would never know it was there.
