Setting value dynamically in a field sitting within a af:query component

Hi
I have three cascading LOV (Site/Building/Room) and an input text field (Location) as part of a af:query component.
I want to populate Location field dynamically with a string based on the values selected in the LOVs like "%/<Site selected>%<Building selected>%<Room selected>%". If any of the LOV is left blank, the string should be adjusted automatically
How do I do it, a declarative way would be preferred. Please advise

I'm a little reluctant to use database triggers as I used this product a couple of years ago and I'm fairly sure I handled this problem in HTML DB without the use of triggers. I am therefore I'm getting a touch frustrated that I can't remember how to do it now !!
Do you know of any way of setting values for non-displayed fields on a Tabular Form without using database triggers?
Also, you seem to be suggesting that database triggers is the best way to do this?

Set value in tabular form field with dynamic action

Hi Guys,
I have a dummy field in a tabular form which I am trying to use to populate another field in the tabular form when it is changed.
In the tabular form I have an ITEM_ID field. Each item_id has an ITEM_NAME which is the dummy field as it is not a field in the database table.
When the user enters an item name, I would like something like a dynamic action to fire, populating the ITEM_ID.
e.g User enters part no ABC into the dummy field. When they tab out, I want the value to the item_id field on the tabular form row to be populated based on a SQL query in a similar fashion to how it can be done with dynamic actions on text items on a form.
I am using APEX v4.0.0

Hello Chris,
Why can't you use Select List Item on tabular form, which will display all item_names and return item_ids?
If the list is huge and you need users to type & search, then you can use Pop-up LOV item.

Enter a value using set value dynamic action

Hi,
I'm using Oracle 11g XE with apex 4.0.2.
I've been trying to use a dynamic action on a text field 'item_group'. Button doesn't have this facility. I created an advanced action using 'set value' with no condition the value being 'RAM.' The event is "change", selection type 'event source', set type is 'static assignment' and value is RAM. It is supposed to trigger when the create button is pressed but nothing happens and the field is still null. I've tried variations on this but nothing works. Can anyone help.

How do I add a set value to a form field calculation?

I'm creating a form where I need a set value added to the sum of other editable fields - e.g. Field A + Field B +$125 = Sum
For the addition of Field A and B I've been using the pre-set functions in Adobe X, but I'm clueless as to how to add the $125 to the sum calculation. I'm absolutely new to Java, so I'd need something I can cut and paste.

Setting default value read from user session, for an LOV in Query component

I want to set the default value of a field in VO that participates in a named view criteria and thereby in Query component. That field is configured with an LOV by mean of a view accessor. The values are Y and N and the corresponding display strings obtained from view accessor are true and false respectively.
I am able to set the default value by setting the value of the criteria item corresponding to that field in view criteria. I am setting the value as either Y or N and I am able to corresponding display string as per the view accessor, on the query component when it is rendered.
I want to read the defauilt value from the ADF BC user session and set it as default value. I tried setting the values as "adf.userSession.userData.usageFlag". Iam ensuring that the attribute usageFlag is set before the view activity that has the query component is invoked. But this is ending up showing no default value in the Query component when rendered.
Can any one let me know how to go about with this?

Need Help: I need a check box to auto fill a set value in separate text field.

Hi, this is my first time with inserting scripts into a PDF Form.
We have a form that requires the user to check a box regarding medical conditions they have (i.e. Asthma, Diabetes, Hypertension). Later in the form, they have to type out the same condition into a text box. (I know stupid to double document, but it is required). Is there a script that will auto fill the text box when they check the box? For example, if they check asthma, the text box on a later page in the PDF will say "Asthma, controlled." Is this possible?
In addition, if they don't click Asthma, and do click Diabetes, could it add Diabetes to the first text box, but if they check both, it would add Asthma to box 1 and Diabetes to box 2?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Hi, I'm staring at the code trying to make it work for my needs, which are similar to Austin's.
I have a 16-page form with 2,988 checkboxes in the entire document (a little over 200 in each page besides the first and last page). The last page contains a textbox labled Summary, and it should provide a summary of all the items checked in the document. Theoretically only one page will be populated at a time, so there will be no more than 200 checkboxes checked in the entire document.
Is it possible to use the same code? And do I just put the code under the text in the script that reads:

Looking to use a check box to set value of a text field

I have 2 address fields 1 for billing and 1 for shipping I put a check box in to determine if the shipping address is the same. Keeping it simple just want the shipping address to check if the box is checked and if it is copy the information in the billing so they are the same and if it is not checked to leave it blank

Setting tab order to form fields contained within a table, Indesign CS6

I have created a form in ID CS6, and have put all the tabs in order so that people can easily navigate it when filling it in. However, all of the form fields that are contained within tables are not in order, and I can't find any way of putting them in order without changing them in acrobat after I have made the interactive PDF. This means that every time my client makes changes to the form I have to manually put all the fields in order again, which is time consuming. Is anyone able to help?

This tab order dialogue box is nearly useless if you have a complex form with hundreds of form fields as there is no way to interact with the document when the dialogue is open and clicking on an entry in the list does not highlight the respective field. Furthermore, if you have arrays of radio buttons, or check boxes acting like radio buttons, ie all with the same form field name, there's no way to know which order they should be arranged in since they can't be selected or identified while this dialogue is open!
That is immensely frustrating to say the least.
It's quite ridiculous that Adobe hasn't fixed this bug in years and this user interface is shockingly bad.

JSF doesn't set values for optionally rendered fields

When I enter a value into an optionally rendered inputText, the resulting object property is never updated, but when I remove the "rendered=" code then the objects set property works every time.
I am using the version of JSF that downloads with the latest version of Facelets, jsf-1.1_02-b08, since the newer version isn't compatible with the version of JSP that Tomcat 5.5.x runs. I'm not sure I have the option to run any newer versions of JSF/Facelets with Tomcat 5.5.x, much trial and error previously failed to get anything newer working.
Is this a bug with an older version of JSF, and if so how can I get a new version to deploy with the version of JSP that Tomcat 5.5.x supports?

There is a select box tied to the backing object that I change from "no" to "yes", and it triggers a submit, and when the page reloads there is an inputText with something like rendered="#{obj.listboxvalue == 'yes'}", the tex box renders when I select the "yes" option in the list box but the values are never set in the backing object. Pretty simple stuff, but it just doesn't work.

To display a text in I/O element, go to the PBO of this screen and
assign the text to your I/O element.
Lets say if TEXT_IO is the name of ur UI element, and you want to display "Hello" into it, do it as follows:
TEXT_IO = 'Hello'.
Must ensure that the type of this UI element is CHAR type and you define its lenght properly.
to display "Hello", length would be 5.

You can set default values on to screen fields using SET and GET PARAMETER command, You need to assign a PARAMETER ID for that screen field and then use SET PARAMETER before the screen is called or in the PBO of the screen, you can set default values direcly in PBO of the screen but then you have hard code those value or read the data from database.
You need to have a TABLES statement to create a strucutre that you used to create your screen fields, then when you set value to these strucutre fields these values will get tranported to the screen fields automatically.

Af:query component added field not removed when remove icon is clicked

I have an af:query component on a popup dialog. In advanced mode when I add a field, the new field appears in the searchRegion followed by a red X remove icon. If I subsequently click that remove icon, the query refreshes, the red icon is gone, but the newly added field still remains. The query component is linked to a standard VO query executable in the bindings. There is no custom processing of the value, model, queryListener or the queryOperationListener. In all other respects the query component works fine. The only problem is a newly added field not being removed when the remove icon is clicked. Here's how the component is setup (an added wrinkle is that the query component is hosted in a Declarative Component, so that makes this code a little harder to decipher).
Does anyone know where I should start looking for this? Hopefully I don't have to implement my own queryOperationListener.
