Setting value of input/output field of screen in abap program

I have a screen.I have added a input/output field in my screen.The purpose is i just want to display a text in that field upon PBO through my abap program.I m a newbie.PLS help me
Also can i use textfield instead of input/output field for this purpose.if so then wats the difference between both of them

To display a text in I/O element, go to the PBO of this screen and
assign the text to your I/O element.
Lets say if TEXT_IO is the name of ur UI element, and you want to display "Hello" into it, do it as follows:
TEXT_IO = 'Hello'.
Must ensure that the type of this UI element is CHAR type and you define its lenght properly.
to display "Hello", length would be 5.
Hope it will solve ur query.

take one variable push into the field
write w_variable1 to w_variable2 centered.
next push the varaible to Destination screen input/output Field .
Make sure the Field the Character Type.

when u drag n drop some fields in the screen goto to one of the corners of dat fields drag to the extend u want to increase.
or in attributes section for u length n width of dat fields are available just increase to your wish.

Radio Buttons + Required Input/Output Fields in Dialog Programming

Please find the below issue.
I have 2 Radio buttons
RB1 and RB2 defined in group RG.
And by default RB1 is selected.
I also have 3 Input.Output Fields.
F1 , F2 & F3.
Now before displaying the Screen for the end user,
I need to display as follows:
A)
RB1 = X -
> Selected.
RB2 = Space -
>Not Selected.
F1 -
> Visible.
F2 & F3 -
>Invisible.
B)
RB1 = space -
> Not Selected.
RB2 = X -
>Selected.
F1 -
>Invisible.
F2 -
>Visible.
F3 -
>Visible.
When i am debugging, the value of RB1 is not X though it is selected on the screen (by default due to Radio Button Group) & hence the below code is not working.

Alright, you defined the radio buttons and grouped them. Did you also assign Fcode to the radio button group? if not already assigned the assign something to FctCode to the radio button. If you can double click on one and assign a name, this will automatically assign to other one. If you already did that... just ignore it.
Next, by defualt, RB1 will not be having 'X' though it shows selected but you can always make it by just writing the following statement in PBO (If you dont want to mislead anybody)
if RB1 = space and RB2 = space.
RB1 = 'X'.
endif.
If you have already done that the next step would be.... Assign a screen group value to the fields F1, F2 and F3.
for example, double click on the field F1, add GR1 in groups in first box and do the same for field text/label if any. Same way, assign GR2 to F2 and F3.
Then add the following code in PBO. (Someone or you can write it better. This is just an example)
LOOP AT SCREEN.
    if RB1 = 'X'.
       if screen-group1 = 'GR2'.
          screen-input = 0.
          screen-invisible = 1.
       endif.
    endif.
    if RB2 = 'X'.
       if screen-group1 = 'GR1'.

This is not possible directly.Place the icon button in the table field.when u click on that button a popup window will appear in that window place the text editor there u can write text and u can save it ok..

Setting values for non-displayed fields on a Tabular Form

I'm having a problem setting non-displayed fields on the same table as displayed fields like last_update_date, last_updated_by, id's and other fields when creating new records or updating existing records in a Tabular form.
What is the best and easiest way to set these values without using database triggers?

I'm a little reluctant to use database triggers as I used this product a couple of years ago and I'm fairly sure I handled this problem in HTML DB without the use of triggers. I am therefore I'm getting a touch frustrated that I can't remember how to do it now !!
Do you know of any way of setting values for non-displayed fields on a Tabular Form without using database triggers?
Also, you seem to be suggesting that database triggers is the best way to do this?

How do I add a set value to a form field calculation?

I'm creating a form where I need a set value added to the sum of other editable fields - e.g. Field A + Field B +$125 = Sum
For the addition of Field A and B I've been using the pre-set functions in Adobe X, but I'm clueless as to how to add the $125 to the sum calculation. I'm absolutely new to Java, so I'd need something I can cut and paste.

ADF Faces: How do I set values for input controls in an af:table

Use case: user enters master/detail information into an input form using an af:table for the desired number of detail rows.
I have an ADF Faces input form with master level input controls, and an af:table (bound to a backing bean CoreTable) for the detail data set.
The input controls are value bound to updateable view objects built from entity objects, with the appropriate view links providing master/detail iterators.
Once the user has entered the master keys (via inputTexts, and selectOneChoices), I create a row in the detail VO, thus creating a visible blank row in the af:table.
The user then completes the key for the detail row (in the af:table) by selecting a value in a selectOneChoice (in a af:column) with autoSubmit on and a valueChangeListener that sets the VO row attribute with the new value.
The user then continues to enter into the remaining inputTexts and selectOneChoices in the af:columns until all values have been entered.
I do not have autoSubmit on for any input controls in the af:columns other than the key, for performance improvement.
The user can then use a command button (which has an action method) to create another row in the af:table.
But, (in the action method) I need to set the values for the 1st detail VO row attributes, from the input controls, before creating another row.
The input controls are bound to backing bean CoreInputText and CoreSelectOneChoice objects, and they have not set their values at this point, even though I have partialSubmit on for the "New Row" command button.
I do not value bind the input controls in the af:columns to the backing bean objects, because we need to display data for all rows entered into the af:table.
Any advice on the best way to perform this operation would be very appreciated!!!!

Yes, I followed the techniques in Screencast#7, and it works great in my edit page.
But I am having problems with my input form.
I actually have master/detail/detail relationship for which I am creating an input form.
I created the input form as a copy of the edit form, and am making revisions as necessary.
I created new view objects for the input form (from my three entity objects), which have the "Tuning" set to retrieve "No Rows (i.e. used only for inserting new rows)"
I added an invokeAction that binds the "CreateInsert" action on the master iterator, so when the page is first displayed, the master level controls are available for data entry (as in 13.6.2 in the Developers Guide): but the first level detail controls are not rendered, and the af:table (for the second level detail) is rendered but with no rows.
Once the user enters key values for the master (a three part key), I manually create a first level detail row by executing the "CreateInsert" action binding for the first level detail iterator.
Continuing on, the user then enters a key value for the first level detail I manually create a second level detail row using it's "CreateInsert" action binding.
Now the user has a form with all master and first level detail controls completed and one empty row in the af:table for it's first entry.
The key column in the af:table has autoSubmit on, and an value change listener. That listener uses it's getNewValue() to set the key value ("locationCode" in this case) using
setLocationCode from the ViewRowImpl. Here is that value change listener:

Now comes my problem: once they have entered the values in the remaining columns, they can use a command button to create another row in the 2nd detail iterator, thus creating another visible empty row in the af:table. But the values from the first row (other than the key column) are not assigned to the row in the collection and I can't figure out how to set values in the collection's row.
I imagine I'm missing something using bindings and the Request Processing Lifecycle, and after reading this I can see how much manual work is going on.
The users have specified the need to have all information available on one page, so I've designed it so they can insert and iterate through the first level detail collection.
They have also asked to not use the mouse; they are looking for a "heads-down-data-entry" system.
Again, I really appreciate any advice you could give.

I have three cascading LOV (Site/Building/Room) and an input text field (Location) as part of a af:query component.
I want to populate Location field dynamically with a string based on the values selected in the LOVs like "%/<Site selected>%<Building selected>%<Room selected>%". If any of the LOV is left blank, the string should be adjusted automatically
How do I do it, a declarative way would be preferred. Please advise

Hi,
First of all, why do you want Vendor Batch no & material no while doing receipt against process order. You can enter the same while doing a GR against Purchase order & same can be tracked using some reports.
As you said, since you are doing a receipt against the Process order, vendor doesn't come in picture. Hence the vendor batch no: or vendor material no: wont be populated as per Std.SAP. You can check for some enhancements/BAdi's in MIGO transaction to populate the same.

I want to create two subscreens onto a main screen.
For that, i went to se51 and defined a main screen e.g.1100. with normal screen attributes.
Again, in the se51 initial screen i gave screen number e.g.110 with subscreen attribute.When i go to layout of subscreen i am unable to add any field or push button to that..
My issue is to display the drawn data on a subscreen.

Retain all form field values after input text field validation failure

I have a form with 1 input text field, one Command button and one h:selectManyListbox. when User enteres some values in input field and clicks on command button named Add, the value is validated. If input is invalid, then an error message appears next to the field. If input is valid, then the value is added into h:selectManyListbox. Adding to list box is done using Ajax4Jsf.
Probelm:
Let's assume user entered 3 valid values one after another and all are added into the list box. When he enters a wrong value, and error message appears. however, the entered values in list box goes away. Is there a way to retain the values even after validation failure.

Use the attribute "binding" instead of a "value". This will remember the value. You can also make sure that you dont have anything in your constructor or class level that initialises that value to "" or null. Because if JSF is remembering your value but your initialization that gets triggered before the page loading resets it to default values then you need to change that part of the code.
