Setup password lockout

Hey everyone,
Running SharePoint 2010 Foundations. I'm trying to enable password lockout on our forms authentication setup but I have been unsuccessful.
Can someone point me in the right direction?
What I tried was I opened the web.config for our site and change the following provider settings:
<membership defaultProvider="i">
      <providers>
        <add name="i" type="Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.Claims.SPClaimsAuthMembershipProvider, Microsoft.SharePoint, Version=14.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c"
/>
      </providers>
    </membership>
to
<membership defaultProvider="i">
<providers>
<add name="i" type="Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.Claims.SPClaimsAuthMembershipProvider, Microsoft.SharePoint, Version=14.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c"
maxInvalidPasswordAttempts="3" />
</providers>
</membership>
Thanks in advance!

That provider does not support lockouts. Instead, set the account lockout within Active Directory.

  • Disable Password Lockout Due to Incorrect Password Entered

    Would like to disable password lockout if a user enters the wrong password too many times.  Does anyone know how to set this up for portal user's?

    In the UME config screen under "Security Policy" you can set the maximum number of failed logon attempts to 0.
    Please note this is a portal setting. If you are attempting to authenticate to an LDAP or ABAP then it may have some extra rules.

  • Wrong Contribute Setup Password

    I'm creating a Contribute Connection Key in Contribute 4 and when I send it to a client who's using Contribute 2 and they get this error message after entering the correct password:
    You entered the wrong Contribute Setup Password.
    You have 2 more times to enter the correct password.
    I know for a fact that they are entering the correct password as they're in the next room. Has anyone run across this problem before? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • Setup password for existing network.

    About a month ago I finally decided to go wireless in the house and bought a cheap router at fry's. During setup I was asked if I wanted to setup a password, I answered no. I figured if someone needed it, let them have access, right? Well apparently someone is super savvy and jerky because now I myself am having a hard time going online once in a while. This is because they setup passwords for themselves, I'm assuming. Bad!! Well, what has worked is turning off the router for about an hour and then turning it back on again. This is the way I have had to regain my internet access about three times now. So sad!
    Well I now want to put a password for myself. I have not been able to figure it out though. I have put in the intall disk but that didn't work because it (duh) wants me to install the whole thing. So is my only option to unistall everything and then intall the network again (saying YES this time to the little password question) or is there an easier way?
    Thank you!!

    There are two passwords for networking that you should be aware of.
    1. The password for configuring the router.
    2. The password for allowing users to connect to the wireless network.
    I think you left the first one empty, so someone connected, to your router and modified some configurations. If you can not log onto your router by typing it's ip into a web browser you should look for some reset button or hole in order to reset the thing. Then log in and set a configuration password.
    By not setting a password for users to join the network, you leave it open for anyone to connect. Which some people choose to do, but you should at least have control over the router so that people cannot make any changes to the thing.

    Hi
    Unfortunately dude there is nothing to do. You cannot remove the BIOS password by yourself. If such cease only the ASP will help you.
    The BIOS password removing is very easy on the desktop PCs but not on the notebooks.
    Every notebook series supports a different way of BIOS password removing.
    Therefore contact the authorized service provider in your country and ask for the advice!!

  • HELP!!!! CAN'T SETUP PASSWORD

    I have a linksys wireless router connected to a dsl modem and someone is jumping on the connection. I have tried repeatedly to set up a password via Linksys' web site. I followed their instructions:
    "Launch your Internet Explorer 5 or later version or Netscape Navigator 4 or later version.
    On the Address, Search or URL, type: http://192.168.1.1, then hit Enter/Return. A login screen will appear. Type admin for the password and leave the username blank or empty then hit “OK”.
    Go to Wireless Tab > Wireless Security > Click the drop down arrow then select WEP:
    Regular Linksys Router Interface (If your Setup page has no Cisco Logo)
    Under Setup > Click WEP Key Settings or Edit WEP Key Settings
    Using passphrase 64-bit, please follow the instructions below.
    Encryption Level 64-bit > type a passphrase > click Generate > copy key1 on a piece of paper (10hex character), then hit Apply.
    If you want to manually enter the network key : Encryption Level: 64-bit > Under Key 1 type a 10 digit character from A-F and 0-9
    (e.g.: A0B3F58C9E, 0123456789, ABCDEFABCD), then hit Apply.
    Using passphrase 128-bit, please follow the instructions below.
    Encryption Level: 128-bit > type a passphrase > click Generate > copy key1 on a piece of paper (26hex character). Then hit Apply.
    If you want to manually enter the network key: Encryption Level: 128-bit > Under Key 1 type a 26 digit character from A-F and 0-9
    (e.g.:0123456789ABCDEF9874561230, 012345678901234567890123456, ABCDEFABCDABCDEFABCDABCDEF), then hit Apply or Save Settings.
    After that, you now have your wireless network secured. For you to connect to the secured wireless network , kindly follow the instructions below. You have a non-Linksys wireless adapter on your computer, you will have to match the settings of the router to the settings of the wireless adapter using the configuration utility that came with the adapter to be able to connect to the wireless network. You need to enter the network key on the wireless computer.
    I will just give you an article that will give you instructions on how to connect the MAC OS wirelessly to the router because configuring the utility of the MAC OS computer is beyond our support. You may also contact the manufacturer of the MAC OS computer to help you enter the wireless settings of the router to the utility of the wireless adapter. You may try to follow the instructions below."
    When I had difficulty getting a 'key' I was told " when using a MAC OS computer, we need to use $ sign before entering the 10 character code that you got from the passphrase that you have generated."
    Even after I did all this I still saw activity on the modem even when the computer was off. When I went through the process again I wasn't given an option in system preferences to add a password and couldn't logon at all so I reset the router. Can someone clearly and concisely explain how to protect my wireless connection? When I now go to system preferences there's no place for me to enter a password.

    Hi mariana14
    To be more specific, are you being prompted for a password when logging into the email settings or when adding your email account?
    Thanks

  • Antivirus can't scan Adobe Reader X setup - Password Protected

    I downloaded Adobe Reader X (10.1.0) and would like to install on my Windows 7 x64, but before I do, can someone plase let me know if Adobe usually password protects their setup files? I scanned the file with ESET AV but can't get a result due to the password protection.
    Also, the download page says the size of install_reader10_en_air_gtbd_aih.exe  is about 37MB but my download is only 724kb.
    I just wan't to be sure that I am not installing an altered/corrupt file before install. Thanks in advance for any replies!

    Thanks but still not working.  Of the 80 files scanned, 79 are "error - password protected file" and 1 is incorrect CRC Checksum?
    C:\Users\me\Desktop\install_reader10_en_chrd_aih.exe » ZIP » adobe/_js/language.js - incorrect CRC checksum, the file may be damaged

  • Is there a password lockout after entering too many incorrect passwords for a .dmg folder?

    I entered three passwords for my .dmg folder before receiving a warning that said authentication error. I'm pretty sure I am now entering the right password, but it still won't open. I'm wondering if I've been locked out? I tried to shut down and restart the computer and do it again, but it's still not working.

    There is no lockout feature.

  • Email setup - password and username

    I've had my BB for 3 weeks and i love it... although I am somewhat paranoid about excessive bills. (Will have to ensure I understand what functions are covered by contract and which I have to pay through the nose for.) Anyway onto my point.
    I set up my gmail email using the email setup function. Was very easy actually. However, i can't remember my username or password to get back in. (All i wanted to do was to add a signature rather than have the default 'email sent using Blackberry on orange' at the end of emails.)
    Is there anyway to reset this? If I could at least remember my username I could recover my password - but i've tried every username I can think and no joy. Would anyone be able to suggest anything? If not, would Blackberry be able to assist me? It's not an earth shattering problem as I can get and send emails at the moment. However I hate not having full access due to my own stupidity in not writing down the PW and UN and storing securely.
    Any assistance or advice welcome

    You could set up your courses so that everything needed authentication, which would prevent the public from browsing them. As far as a warning banner and password aging goes, could the warning banner appear on your authentication page? Or perhaps just on the iTunesU banner after they log in?
    Password aging would be handled by whatever authentication you'd using to access iTunesU. While you can (eventually) setup roles in iTunesU to augment authentication, it's assumed that you'll extend your campus authentication scheme to control access to the iTunesU site.
