Setxkbmap from GUI

Hello!
I'm trying to set up quick little keyboards layout chooser which would on icon/applet click execute this command:
$ setxkbmap -rules evdev -layout es -model evdev
but, when I include this in "Create a new launcher" on desktop, either through "execute this command in terminal" or
directly, it doesn't do anything. Why is this not working from GUI and just from terminal? Can you maybe show me
how to write a little python GUI script that will execute this command, or point me to some link where I could learn this?

<Ashren> Thank you, it works with xterm part! :-) How do I do it without xterm, because when I exclude the xterm command, it doesn't do anything.
The notify-send little thing is great, i didn't know how to use it before so I've learnt something today.
Could you guys maybe tell me how this can be done from python, if it could be done easily, just curious to learn how to do it from different perspectives

How to delete a single entry from GUI History

All,
I want to delete a single line of GUI history.
This is my scenario. During the installation of SAPGui in the user system , we usually send the preconfigured MDB files also along with distribution. But by mistake i tyoed the administrator password in the user name of the login screen it gotupdated in the master MDB file . Now i wanted to delete the only that particular entry from GUI History.
PS I donot want to delete the entire MDB file and recreate again.
Any Info?

Hi,
It is very simple....
Here is how you can delete a particular entry from GUI History
1. Open the login screen.
2. Place cursor in "User Name" input field
3. Press spacebar on your keyboard. - This will show all entries from history
4. Scroll & highlight the entry you wish to delete using arrow keys on keyboard (Do not hit enter, just scroll....leave all entries visible)
5. Hit "Delete" button on your keyboard.

In the existing setup, does WLC management & APs are on the same vlan ? If that is the case you may have not configured any of the below, as AP L3 broadcast reach WLC & in that way AP will learn about WLC.
If WLC & APs are on different vlan you may already use one of WLC discovery method listed below.
1. DHCP Option 43
2. DNS
3. UDP broadcast forwarding
4. Static configuration
When you change the WLC management IP address, AP need to know what is the new IP & you can modify the configuration of the method you used.

How to design application to decouble business logic from GUIs on SAP N7.0

Hi guys,
How should I go about designing a program, so that I can decouple the business logic from GUI in ABAP in such a way that I can change the GUI easily or use different GUIs eg. on a scanner etc..

You may use BDT (business data toolset). It's rather complex. Or use web dynpro but also complex. Or you can program it by yourself (much less difficult).

Separating application logic from GUI

I don't know if this is the right forum to ask this question. I know that It's a very bad practice to embed application logic in GUI code, they have to be separated and communicate in some way. I've read somewhere that they need a kind of an adapter class or a knowledge of design patterns, which I actually don't have.
Could someone direct me to a nice tutorial, which explains this issue? Thank you.

Installation of SAPPDFPRINT from GUI-Server

Hello SDN,
I need to install SAPPDFPRINT (xPdfPrint.exe) on several (>30) Windows-Clients lockaly. I have a GUI-Installation Server 7.20 runing and I read that it should be possible to install it from GUI - Installation Server.
Anny attemp to import SAPPDFPRINT as a new Produkt to Installation Server were sucsessless. GUI-Server don't want to recognise the file xPdfPrint.exe as a Produkt.
I appreciate any help.

Hi Vladimir,
the procedure to import a product obtained as a self-extracting executable into an existing installation server is this:
extract the executable to a temporary directory:
xPdfPrint.exe /extract:c:\temp
Next you start the NwSapSetupAdmin from your installation server and choose "Import Product". In the wizard you navigate to the temporary directory from the previous step.
That should do it.

Is it a general user issue or are you the only user facing that issue ? Does the error occur right after you enter user/password ?
From the GUI session status bar, I see " Memory Low. leave the transaction before taking a break".
This looks like a improper memory configured system. I would suggest that you review your memory parameters as per the SAP note 146289.
If you already have the memory parameters set to at least the values suggested by that note, please further increase the parameters below:
abap/heap_area_total
abap/heap_area_dia

Minor lag from GUI when resume from sleep

Hey people!
I've been on archlinux for a couple of months now and I have fixed bugs here and there but something I have just noticed yesterday (it would happen before but I couldn't say when it would occur) is that after my system resume from sleep (it's not slow, it takes 1 or 2 secs) gnome GUI is a bit slow and it doesn't stop till I reboot my pc (it doesn't occur until my pc resumes from sleep).
It's not that bad but quite annoying. I don't really know how to approach that kind of problem. I think it would be related to something like "gnome is not completly reloaded when resume from sleep and there are some infinite loop going on"...
I hope someone has a clue in here!

hey, sorry to revive an old thread, but this was the only other person I could find with this issue.
I had originally reinstalled power manager and the the pm driver because it wouldn't save any custom power settings. When I finally got it working, it wouldnt wake up from sleep just like the above user's issue.
Machine is relatively new win7x64 install with all updates (lenovo updates too) installed.
Would like to avoid a total reinstall if at all possible.

Can't access otherwise in switch from GUI in JDev 10.1.2 beta 3

When trying to populate multiple cases of a switch JDev is not allowing me to open the <otherwise> tag from the GUI. It doesn't seem to recognize it as anything but normal text.
Is there a workaround to be able to access the XPATH assistant or Expression Builder for this case?

The purpose of otherwise is to take the last route when all the cases you mentioned in the switch are not met. If you want to add 1 more case, you can "right click -> Add Switch Case"

MDX generate from gui

Just wondering I saw on the net that one can generate a MDX script from a GUI drag N drop
cube report in Essbase... I loaded the visual explorer and can't see how to do it... also bought
up excel and dont see how to generate the script. Do I need to install another reporting tool.
Hate to bring this up but I can generate MDX query scripts from Microsoft reporting services
connecting to a cube by drag n dropping a report. This is useful if I would like to tweak the
MDX statement, plus its cool and I saw on the web from one of the Oracle Gurus that you
can do it. I am using Essbase 9 and have the server and client installed and that's it but can
connect and generate reports from the explorer.... any thoughts

I'm not sure if there's a way of viewing this in v9, maybe the demo you saw was on v11.1.1?
There is a way of seeing the MDX generated in v9 by looking at the logfile generated on the Visual Explorer client. By default my logfile is in My Documents\My HVE Repository\Logs. If you look at the log you should see the MDX used for the query:

Data From GUI to Objects?

Ive been doing a lot of reading and asking a lot of questions about a program Im trying to tackle. Ive broken it down to its most basic form. I have a GUI with two text fields and a button. There is a main class that creates the GUI class and a Student class with a name and grade member. The user enters the name and grade into the fields and clicks the button to save the data to the student object. Im starting to clear up some, but Im still a little confused on where the student class goes in relation to the GUI. Im clear on the fact that student should not be a member object of the GUI (no GUI -> Student), but how then does the info get into the student class if its not a member of the GUI:
My simple code so far has this snipet:

But this only works if student is a member object of the GUI and thats a no no apparently, so how else can I get the info to student?

3 - how these are used to query and change the truck objects.

Can't open files with spaces from gui applications

When I try to open a file or directory from say qbittorrent or clementine in xfce, I get the message:
"Failed to open URI "file:///somewhere/filename%20with%20spaces".
Googling told me this problem was due to passing a "%U" instead of a "%F" somwhere, but I don't know where to change this.

I don't use any DE or those kinds of gui tools, but the "%U" instead of an "%F" issue would be in the .desktop files. There are systemwide .desktop files in /usr/share/applications/ and you can override these with your own customized versions in ~/.local/share/applications/
So a workaround at least would be to copy the relevant desktop files from the system-wide folder to your user's folder and edit them appropriately changing %U to%F.
