Several Apps seem to just mysteriously shut down after using for a while. Same with Safari, I will be using Safari and it shuts down. Face book too. I've reset and shut down my iPad 3 and restart it, but it stills shuts down. What to do?
Several Apps seem to mysteriously shut down after using them for a while. Face Book shuts down , netflix, Safari, and other Apps. They work fine for a short while, or a long while, and then shut down and it brings me to my regular desktop screen. I've tried restarting by completely shutting down the IPad until I see the apple pic and turned it back on, but the shutdowns of apps continue. Anyone else have this issue? It generally started shortly after downloading and installing IOS 7......

2. Unplug the computer's power cord.
3. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
4. Release the power button.
5. Attach the computers power cable.
6. Press the power button to turn on the computer.
and check all of the power connections.
The iMac's are sensitive to power issues (sag or momentary outage) while in sleep mode. If in the Energy Saver preference "Start up automatically after a power failure" is unchecked (as it should be) then you could/would/should find the iMac off after a power problem. -

Try starting in Safe mode by holding down the Shift key while booting. Safe mode takes a while to load the OS. After that, restart the computer normally.
If that does not work, start up in Recovery by holding down the Command and R keys. In the window that opens, choose Disk Utility at the bottom and verify and repair your disk. Repair permissions while you are there. -
Is there a way to make a smart "playlist" of specific books in my iTunes library, and copy ONLY THOSE books to an iOS device? I own an iPad and an iPhone but I want different books on each different device. When I've tried this, the iOS devices don't seem to respond.
There is no playlist for iBooks, butther eis nothing to preent you from choosing to download specific titles from itunes, or syncing just specific titles to an individual device.

I upgraded to OS8 for my Iphone 5 and now I have no access to e-mail and several apps. How can I address this problem? For those who have an iphone 5 I recommend not upgrading to the new OS until these bugs are resolved.
I foolishly downloaded OS8 on my iPhone 4S. It not only greyed out my wifi button making it impossiblr to use wifi, but bluetooth connection doesn't work either. I reset the phone to factory settings but that did nothing apart from loose all my photos and contacts. OS 8 was still on after too. Apple say it is a problem but the download only brought the fact the hardware was faulty to the fore, but not being under warranty , the repair would cost £166 that I would have to pay. Totally unacceptable. If the problem was known and they knew it would cause problems on older models, why have it bob up on iTUNES for download.
Don;t download it guys, APPLE aren't admitting culpability and it will cost you a fortune to put right!! -

What is the problem you are trying to solve? If your Brother's iPad 2 iOS is not at revision 6.0.1, it needs to be updated.
If you both have an iPad 2, then they both should have come with the same Apps, regardless of where they were bought. There are slight differences between models that have a cellular internet connection, and models that are WiFi only.
If his iPad 2 has a dictation App, he may have downloaded the Dragon Dictation App from the iTunes App Store as Tom suggested. You would need to do the same with your iPad 2, if you want dictation capability, unless you both share the same Apple ID. If that were the case, all of your purchased Apps should be available to all compatible iPads, iPhones and iPods that are synchronized to iTunes on the same computer.

That message means that you have to restore the iPad now. There was a problem with the update. So connect the iPad to your computer and restore your iPad.

Disconnect the USB cable from the iPad, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off iPad: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for iPad to turn off.
If you cannot turn off iPad using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the iPad turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to iPad. When you reconnect the USB cable, iPad should power on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button.
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the recovery mode alert that iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode.
Use iTunes to restore iPad. -
I just purchased an Apple TV. I have a pc running windows 7. It is connected to a router and the router is connected to a wireless router. I connect my iPhone, iPad and apple tv to wireless network but do not know how to put the pc on the wifi network so the Apple TV can do home share.
I don't mean to be facetious but sometimes the simplest things are overlooked. To connect to your library you have to have the computer where the iTunes library is located running and with iTunes open. It also needs to be on the same network. My network is dual band and works with either stream but a friend of mine does not. He has to set the computer and the Apple TV to the same band. Hope this helps.

Try restoring the iPod. First from backup and if problem persists, restore to factory settings/new iPod.
If you still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

I'm trying to get organized and I just added a bunch of books and pdfs to my itunes library. They were all added immediately to my ipad and iphone even though I did not want this. I added them to itunes using add to library and I have both devices set to sync only selected books.
How do I do this in the future so this doesnt happen? Its a lot of work to now manually erase them from each device and it sent my phone over capacity.
thanksI dont see the difference in the posts. I dont think theres anything inaccurate or misleading about what I wrote. The items were immediately added to my ipad and my iphone, even though I have them both set to sync only select items. As soon as I added new titles to my itunes library, they were immediately added to the devices. Not on the next sync. Immediately. Both devices were plugged into the computer at the time. Sorry if I failed to mention they were plugged in but I dont see the signifigance youre making out of it. The problem persists anyway.
Now that I did a test without the devices plugged in, the new items were still added as soon as I plugged my devices into the computer ( I do not have them set to sync over wifi).
Since I have both devices set to manually select items to sync, of course I want to manually select new items to sync. For instance, I am not going to read any of these magazines or books on my phone, ever, and I dont want to waste valuable space with them.
So I'm trying your advice:
I just tried deselecting sync books. It erased all content from ibooks on my device. I then dragged
one title onto the device, and it just goes back to syncing select books, with the one title selected.
It appears that wont work to solve my issue. The next time I add something to itunes it will be put on my phone. Is this really something most people want? To select to manualy control what content is synced, but then have things automatically added. It seems inconsistent to me. -
I just got a new iPad 2 and I have lot of questions. I was able to wirelessly link my iPad and iTunes on my PC. I was able to SYNC my email and calendar (new entries only no history), however I have not been able to SYNC Outlook contacts. Outlook has multiple contact lists. Only one has any data. I can't find a way to delete the others and I can't keep the one I want to use at the top of the list. Any ideas?
I have a question about email. I have several thousand emails in 10 or so days. How can I select multiple emails for deletion in stead of one at a time? How do I designate emails from a given sender as junk or block certain senders?

i have just bought a macbook pro and i want to use an ext hard drive with it which i previously used on a windows computer, but when i plug it in it doesn't show up on my macbook pro, I've wiped it and just need to format it but don't know how, any help would be much appreciated
Try the other USB port. If it still doesn't show up in Disk Utility then there may be something wrong with your Mac. Try something else in each USB port and see if it is seen. If the other thing, like a USB thumb drive, does show up in disk utiltiy then the USB ports are fine.
Power down the system and restart with the drive connected, go to DU and see it it is seen. -

Before you restore the iPod from the backup that Dave had you make yu have to transfer stuff from the iPod to the computer since the backup does not contain the apps themselfes, music, synced phots and some other stuff. To see what a backup contains see:

I'm in a quandary. I've had a nook color to use for a while, and I've had a blackberry tablet offered me. Why should I consider an iPad?
Who said you need to consider an iPad?
If the nook and Blackberry tablet suit your needs (which you haven't mentioned) stick with them.
One of the main advantages of the iPad is the amount of apps and media available for them. Also the huge support from third-party accessory providers.
But unless we know what you're using these devices for, we can't really say why an iPad might be worth considering.
