Severe drop connection (10-12 times a day) and slow internet
Hello, I am getting very frequent dropped connections (between 10-12 a day). My internet connection is very slowwwwwww. I cannot even stream a YouTube video without pausing it and waiting about 10 minutes for the video to completely load before playing it. Most websites take over 30 seconds to load and some won't load at all because it says that it timed out. I have tried using IE8 and Google Chrome and Firefox....the same result on all browsers. I am running a brand new Verizon GT701C modem and a brand new Belkin 926 router. I am hard wired into the Belkin. I bought a new modem and router because I thought maybe my equipment was too dated, but I am still having the same severe problems. I feel like I am on dial -up all over again. No, there are no apps that can do that, as no app would have access to the necessary API's to perform such a task.

My iPhone 4 crashes very often (3-4 times per day) and sometimes (2-3 times per month) all my apps disappear and I have to restore them with iTunes. I downloaded all the system updatings and I also tried to restore my device, but I still have this issue
If you haven't already, try restoring your iPhone as a new device, not from a backup, and with only the apps Apple includes. Then see if the problems persist. It's possible that a corrupted file on the iPhone is causing the problems, and that could perhaps be coming back onto the iPhone if you're restoring using a backup. Problems with an app could also be causing problems. If the problems persist after restoring the iPhone as "new", then you almost certainly have a defective iPhone and will need to contact Apple for servicing.
If the problems go away after restoring the iPhone as "new", then you can start putting your other apps back on and see if the problems reappear; if they do, you probably have a badly-coded app.

AirPort network dropping connection at least twice a day
I'm running an AirPort network and guest network version 7.6.4 - Time Capsule serves as my router, extreme and express as my extenders. At least twice a week, my AirPort Network drops wi-fi connectivity. It's annoying and frustrating as often I'm using a VIOP line for work conference calling and or using web meeting services. The wi-fi droppage requires me to un/re plug the time capsule - the only fix I've found. Doing this corrects the issue until the next drop. Usually a couple of days...
Is there a permanent fix I can use that I don't know about? I was under the impression my AirPort Network "would just work"Since the Thunderbolt Display has been released I have seen this issue on literally hundreds of display/laptop combinations. With and without the extension cable. I have not found any logic around the issue, trying different usb/thunderbolt ports, different sleep settings, power settings. This is a legitmate issue that should be addressed and Apple is not addressing it -- or can't address it. BTW-There is NO reason to engineer a product with an extension cable needed to operate the peripheral. The only way to solve this is to burn a USB port on your laptop. I am fairly certain the issue is power related over the Thunderbolt bus. However, I have also experienced issues with USB3 hubs on macs. So maybe it is a larger power issue.
Anyway, an Apple wired keyboard should just work out of the box. -
Why does CC now sign out several times a day and applications revert to trial mode almost instantly?
Since the last update my Creative Cloud connection signs itself out several times a day. Applications continuously revert to trial mode and need to be relicensed. I cannot stress how annoying it is to be reading a PDF only for Acrobat to close and then be invited to start my "trial". Whilst this doesn't actually stop my use of the Adobe applications it is very disruptive to my normal work flow. What I struggle to understand is why the appliactions so quickly revert to trial mode. Surely even if the CC connection is lost they should remain licensed for days?
Running Windows 7 and the main apps I use are Illustrator CS6, Illustrator CC, Photoshop CS6, Photoshop CC & Acrobat XI Pro.

I keep seeing the coreanimation messages near the bottom of this log before the shutsdowns occur when I check the system logs. Also happens on a bootable external clone I have been running on to test it.
After removing plug and powering back on all seems to come back to where it left off.

ALL mainboards using NVidia chipsets are likely to crash every hour or so because of crappy programmed drivers and hardware that's operating beyond save limits. I had all kinds of problems: USB-devices disconnecting frequently, system refusing to boot every now and then, all browsers crashing and all sorts of other neat problems. I just swapped the mainboard to an AMD-Chipset and now everything works fine. No crashes the last two months. I'm still using the same Windows7 installation, the same firefox and my old profile that previously crashed 10 times a day. I just swapped the mainboard, deinstalled the nvidia drivers, then installed new network and sound-drivers. That's it.

My Firefox crashes several times a day. I get update notices and try to update but the updates never load. I have a new MacBook Pro with no other issues. I have even tried deleting my Firefox and downloading a new ap. This is not working. I have been using Firefox since its inception and prefer it to Safari, but I am about to give up.
If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop

FCP 7 drops connection to P2 cardreader while log and transfere operation
If I insert all 5 P2 cards into my cardreader and starts log and transfere on clips longer than 1 minute. FCP cuts the connection to the firewire port and says: Card not properly ejected, and loging is closed down. Even crashes FCP sometimes.....
If I only insert 1 P2 card at a time there is no problem... NOT great when you have spanned clips...
What to do APPLE?In the P2 Browser, there is a little sprocket drop down menu. Click on that and choose PREFERENCES. Uncheck REMOVE PULLDOWN and then try importing again.

Seeing times in day and week view
Is it possible to see times (eg 7.00am, 7.30am, 8.00am, 8.30am, 9.00am, etc etc) along the y axis in day and week view of iCal? I can only see actual times when I in the process of making appointments, ie when wiping my cursor over a section of the page.

Time capsule causes extremely slow internet
I have an 2011 Apple time capsule running firmware 7.6.4 (latest as far as I know). Recently its begun acting up. Once the modem (a Motorolla SB6121) is restarted and the time capsule is restarted, wifi devices receive the full 100Mbps for approximately 2 minutes. Then the network degrades to hardly 1Mbps. It becomes virtually unusable. With intermittent dropped connections all together. I can confirm its the TC (all is fine on a direct connection from the modem), and I've tried factory resetting TC. The symptoms continue. I've even gotten a new router (it was happening before with a Motorolla SB2100 as well), and the same problem exists.
I'm not sure if its relevant, but it happened around the time Comcast informed us they were increasing our internet speed to about 105Mbps.
Any suggestions?The TC is definitely having issues with the motorola modems..
This one is a bit complicated due to Mavericks.
You can set the WAN port speed on the TC to 100mbit which seems to help for some people.
You can do that using an old fashioned crossover ethernet cable or a small 10/100 switch between the TC and the modem.
In the old utility you can still set the WAN port speed to 100mbit full or half duplex
This is easy to do if you still have a computer running windows, hence older v5 utility.
Mavericks removed the ability to easily run the v5 utility but there is a work around.

You must follow those instructions exactly.
No luck then replace the TC as the main router.
Buy a normal standard router.. eg TP-Link WDR3600 which should be around $70. (I pick this one as it can be run on 3rd party firmware like gargoyle which is far more useful than native firmware in most routers). And bridge the TC for use on the network as a WAP and Networked hard disk. -
Help. DSL drops connection all the time, is it the modem? (westell 327W)
Pardon me because I'm not so tech aware, and so don't know what to do to try to find a solution. We lose our internet connection a lot. It seems to happen in spurts: last night we couldn't connect at all, today it was bad in the morning but now I've been on for about a half an hour and all seems good. I can't figure out any pattern. Last weekend we were fine all weekend, during the week it was bad every single day.
I connect through a desktop and the westell modem; upstairs we connect with a laptop and wireless. The connection problems happen in both places, although it's our housemates who connect upstairs through the wireless and so I'm not entirely sure if they have problems when we're having problems or not (this has been going on for so many months, we've all kind of adapted to it. but it's more and more frustrating). Our wireless is encrypted.
When we can't connect, we get the Explorer 'cannot find website because you are not connected to the internet' error page. Even when we can't connect, the "local area connections" icon on the lower right side of the screen (Windows XP) says we have a network connection at 10.0 mbs. The lights on the modem are all green, and the DSL light stays steady green, although sometimes the internet light will blink erratically, and the wireless light always blinks quickly. We recently switched out the cable to the jack, so it's not that.
Sometimes we can get it to get back a connection briefly by doing one of these things (but they don't always work):
- use the "repair" button on the local area connections window support tab -- this will often get it back for a few minutes but is rarely permanent. When it doesn't work, it usually says it's because it can't renew the IP address
- turn the modem on and off. That's what worked this morning. It did not work last night.
- turn the computer on and off. That worked last night only to get an initial connection that then pooped out.
- use the verizon support popup that sometimes (and only sometimes) appears when we're having connectivity problems. This morning that worked briefly -- the internet connection popped back up at the stage where the pop up siad "testing connection."
Any idea what is going on here? I tried a couple months ago to get help through verizon online support, and it ended up as a 3 hour phone call to India that resolved things only for an afternoon, and not on any more long term basis, and I don't want to do that again unless I know what I'm asking for (since all they do is go through some kind of checklist).I had similar probelm. I did find dns lookup is very slow. The following are consecutive tests:
