SGD and multiple AD domains - hosting apps in multi tenancy model

Hi folks,
is it possible to use one SGD installation to authenticate on several Active Directory Domains?
Documentation says that SGD allows multiple authentication methods...
If this would not be possible out-of-the-box, please think about how we could implement that? I thought about specifying the DCs in the krb.conf for the different realms....
Thanks
Julian

Currently SGD supports only one LDAP / AD Directory tree.
What we did is an local LDAP proxy on the SSGD Server, The proxy itsself request multible repositories, With this solution DSI works as well, and you can also mix LDAP/AD trees.
The current problem with this is, the passwort change mechanisem.

    Is it possible to deploy multiple sharepoint provider hosted apps into one azure website??
    Rohit Pasrija

    I am faced with a similar requirement although the hosting environment for the provider hosted apps would be an IIS web server in our own infrastructure.
    Would it be advisable to use a common IIS website to host multiple apps? The MVC web application which will provide functionality
    for the apps is already in place which is why we are checking for options to use the same web project for multiple apps.
    Can the web config file's clientID be shared by multiple apps?

    That sounds strange. Have you installed both Smart Connect and SmartWatch 2 from Google Play or did you install them from another source? If installed from Google Play, uninstall (updates) SmartWatch 2 and Smart Connect and then install/update them again from Google Play.

  • Unable to add aspx file to document library using REST and JSOM in SharePoint Hosted App

    Hi,
    I am unable to add an aspx file to document library.  I was actually trying to create a WIKI page and upload to Pages library but that wasn't working so I tried simple document library.  It keeps failing with Access Denied error.  I have checked
    the blocked types and aspx is not included.  I can upload it directly from the browser so that shouldn't be the case.  I have read that it can be achieved with CSOM but I need this to work with a SharePoint Hosted App.  Here is my JSOM:
    factory = new SP.ProxyWebRequestExecutorFactory(appweburl);
        context.set_webRequestExecutorFactory(factory);
        appContextSite = new SP.AppContextSite(context, hostweburl);
        oWeb = appContextSite.get_web();
        oList = oWeb.get_lists().getByTitle('Documents');
        fileCreateInfo = new SP.FileCreationInformation();
        fileCreateInfo.set_url("mywiki.aspx");
        fileCreateInfo.set_content(new SP.Base64EncodedByteArray());
        fileContent = "<%@ Page Inherits=\"Microsoft.SharePoint.Publishing.TemplateRedirectionPage,Microsoft.SharePoint.Publishing,Version=15.0.0.0,Culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c\" %> <%@ Reference VirtualPath=\"~TemplatePageUrl\"
    %> <%@ Reference VirtualPath=\"~masterurl/custom.master\" %>";
        for (var i = 0; i < fileContent.length; i++) {
            fileCreateInfo.get_content().append(fileContent.charCodeAt(i));
        newFile = oList.get_rootFolder().get_files().add(fileCreateInfo);
        context.load(newFile);
        context.executeQueryAsync(function () {
            alert('yo');
        }, function (sender, args) {
            alert(args.get_message() + '\n' + args.get_stackTrace());
    If I change the file extension to "txt", it works.  Same with REST implementation, it works with "txt" but fails with "aspx".  Maybe what I am trying to do will not work using JSOM or REST.  Any suggestions?  Your
    help is always appreciated.
    Regards,
    kashif

    Your code works fine in both my on-premises and SharePoint Online. I have given the app full control, so I suspect this is a permissions issue. I would check your permissions on your appmanifest. Must be something to do with publishing permissions. Try
    giving full control and work the permissions down.

  • Jabber and Multiple DNS Domains

    have a customer that is running into some "minor" issues in getting Jabber to work well on their mobile devices.
    The issues revolves around I think a DNS issue in that their Internet domain is "mycomp.com" while inside they are "corp.mycomp.local"
    Am I correct in that this is easily fixed for the expressway-E and expressway-C is to have the following setup:
    On the External DNS server
    _collab-edge.tls.mycomp.com  =>  expresswaye.mycomp.com
    On the Internal DNS server:
    _cisco-uds._tcp.mycomp.com => cucm1.corp.mycorp.local
    _cisco-uds._tcp.corp.mycomp.local =>  cucm1.corp.mycomp.local
    If the Expressways are configured correctly, then this should work and the credentials for the users should be the same instde and out, OR am I missing something?

  • ASA and Multiple AD Domains

    Hello,
    I am having difficulties with configuring my ASA5510 to authenticate against two different Active Directory domains with LDAP for a Remote Access VPN. From what I can see, the authentication process goes as far as checking the first server, seeing that the user doesn't belong to that domain and then it bombs out.
    I read some technote which specified that if the DC was set up as a Global Catalog that this would be a non-issue - sadly, this doesn't appear to be the case.
    Can anyone shed any light on this?
    Thanks
    Keith

    Hi Keith
    First of all the behavior you describe is correct and expected. If you configure 2 aaa servers (regardless of whether it's radius, ldap, etc.) then the ASA will consider them as having identical user DB's, and so will only use the 2nd when the 1st is unreachable.
    So the solution would indeed consist of having a global catalog server (GCS) that can search both domains, and point the ASA to that server (or set of servers). The downside is that the global catalog server may not have information  about local groups which may be needed for authorization and or DAP.
    Having said that, there may be an alternative if you are using (or willing to change to) double authentication (i.e. certificate based authentication + username/password) or if you are ok to use certificate based authentication with LDAP authorization (i.e. only the cert is used to log in, the ldap attributes are only used to override settings in the group-policy).
    In that case you can use tunnel group mapping (i.e. have certificates from one domain land on a certain group, and another domain on another group). Since each group has its own aaa-server config, you can point them to different ldap servers.

  • How to get inputted value in a RTE field on custom page and submit by REST call in 'Sharepoint hosted app'.

    Hi I am facing the three questions below.
    1. How to use default RTE in custom page in Sharepoint hosted app.
     I saw the article of Rich text Editor (ribbon based) in a webpart in SharePoint 2013 and tried it. But it did not work well. I guess it needs code-behind setting, however sharepoint hosted app does not support code-behind.
    Does anybody know how to do this?
    2. In above case, I placed the below code on custom page and tried to get the field's value when submit button was clicked.
    <SharePoint:InputFormTextBox ID="rftDefaultValue"
    RichText="true"
    RichTextMode="FullHtml" runat="server"
    TextMode="MultiLine" Rows="5">
    </SharePoint:InputFormTextBox>
    In debugger, the returned value was 'undefined'.
    var note = $('#hogehoge').val();
    Is it possible to get the RTE value? If yes, please let me know how to do this.
    3. I need to submit the RTE value using REST call.
    In this
    article in MSDN, the item creation sample treats single line text field. Does anybody know the sample for RTE?

    Hi,
    According to your description, you might want to use Rich Text Editor control in your SharePoint hosted app.
    First of all, I would suggest you post one question in one thread to make it easier to be discussed, which would also help you get a quick solution.
    Though we can add this control into a SharePoint hosted app, however, as we can’t add code behind for it, plus with the potential compatibility issues in different
    browsers, I would suggest you use other JavaScript Rich Text Editor plugins instead.
    Two JavaScript Rich Text Editor plugins for your reference:
    http://quilljs.com/
    http://nicedit.com/
    If you want to submit the value of Rich Text Editor control to a SharePoint list using REST call, since the content in the Multiple Line of Text column is wrapped
    with nested HTML tags, the similar requirement would also be applied to the content to be submitted.
    Here is a code snippet about how to update a Multiple Line of Text column for your reference:
    updateListItem(_spPageContextInfo.webAbsoluteUrl, "List018", 1);
    function updateListItem(siteUrl, listName, itemId)
    var itemType = GetItemTypeForListName(listName);
    var item = {
    "__metadata": { "type": itemType },
    "MultiTextEnhanced": "<div><a href='http://bing.com/'>Bing</a><br></p></div>",
    "Title": "123"
    $.ajax({
    url: siteUrl + "/_api/web/lists/getbytitle('" + listName + "')/items(" + itemId + ")",
    method: "GET",
    headers: { "Accept": "application/json; odata=verbose" },
    success: function (data) {
    console.log(data);
    $.ajax({
    url: data.d.__metadata.uri,
    type: "POST",
    contentType: "application/json;odata=verbose",
    data: JSON.stringify(item),
    headers: {
    "Accept": "application/json;odata=verbose",
    "X-RequestDigest": $("#__REQUESTDIGEST").val(),
    "X-HTTP-Method": "MERGE",
    "If-Match": data.d.__metadata.etag
    success: function (data) {
    console.log(data);
    error: function (data) {
    console.log(data);
    error: function (data) {
    console.log(data);
    // Getting the item type for the list
    function GetItemTypeForListName(name)
    return"SP.Data." + name.charAt(0).toUpperCase() + name.slice(1) + "ListItem";

  • Multiple domains hosted on one OSX Server

    Hi guys,
    Does anyone know if it is possible to host more than one domain name on OSX server?
    A client of mine runs a number of businesses and is considering Snow Leopard Server, and wants to have multiple email domains and websites hosted on one server. Also per-account contacts sync and calendar sync would be useful, does anyone know if that's available?
    Thanks!
    W.

    You can certainly host multiple domains on Mac OS X Server. There are a few options depending on how you want it to work.
    If all the usernames are the same across all domains (e.g. [email protected] is the same person as [email protected]) then just change the mail server configuration to match all the domains in the mydestination parameter in /etc/postfix/main.cf.
    If the domains are different (e.g. [email protected] is not the same account as [email protected]) then you have two options - one is to use the postfix model (which requires command-line management), the other is to add the email addresses in the shortname section for each user.
    You may have some issues integrating contacts and calendars, though - if you take the postfix model then the users won't exist in Open Directory and won't have a calendar/contact link, etc.
    If you follow the shortname model then you have one directory with all users in all domains and you'll need to work to separate them out if you need to.

  • Cross Domain Call in SharePoint Hosted app.

    Hi, I am very new in SharePoint 2013 App dev and want to understand when actually Cross domain calls are required and how we can achieve it.
    Getting host web site title from a sharepoint hosted app needs a cross domain call?
    My point of confusion is some places I have seen we have to load SPRequestExecutor for getting data from host web  but I am able to get it using changing the context to host web and then getting the title without using SPRequestExecutor:
     appContextSite = new SP.AppContextSite(ctx, spHostUrl);
       Nweb = appContextSite.get_web();
       //Nweb = ctx.get_web();
       ctx.load(Nweb);
    What is the difference between the two( using SPRequestExecutor and not using) and what places we need to use it and where we can get data without it ?
    please help me to resolve this confusion.
    Thanks

    Hi vmishr11,
    When you use SP.RequestExecutor, it will execute asynchronously to get data from host web. It will use like below:
    var executor = new SP.RequestExecutor(appweburl);
    executor.executeAsync(
    url:
    appweburl +
    "/_api/web/lists/getbytitle('Announcements')/items",
    method: "GET",
    headers: { "Accept": "application/json; odata=verbose" },
    success: successHandler,
    error: errorHandler
    For SP.AppContextSite, it will execute in order to get data.

  • OCS 10g - Does it support multiple domain hosting

    Hi,
    We have installed OCS 10g for a domain university.edu
    Now, It provides only two available domains as local domains. ie, university.edu and .edu
    I would like to add some more sub domains (at least one more) such as college.university.edu to be a local domain in OCS for which it should accept emails.
    It this simple feature of multiple domain hosting supported in OCS.
    Kindly let us know some tips for it.
    Many thanks in advance.
    maas.

    I configured the domain about 2 years ago, so I have to go and look in my archive (which is at the office, I will not be there before the end of next week).
    The setup has 2 top level domains (one is .nl and one is .com). Under .nl about 4 domains are running, under .com only 1. If I remember corretly issues did raise with files. Calendar and mail are running as expected. This is on a 9.0.4 release though (not a OCS 10 R1 or R2). I did read loads of articles and had to patch even more. Luckily I printed all articles I read, so I can lookup the exect document numbers. If you can wait until next week, I can help you out.

  • Hosting Multiple Web Domains

    I have a WRT160N
    In the DDNS configuration there is only a space to put one domain name.  I have multiple domains hosted off the same web server.  Is there a way to add other domains?  i.e. comma deliminated or using semi colons, etc
    Thanks,
    Mike

    A work around that works for the most part is to enter a host name in the DDNS section, save it, then replace it with another name and save it.  As long as you do not get another dynamic IP....it works.
    I guess I will use this work around until I rebuild my Linux router.

  • Using powershell to deploy provider-hosted app and specify remote Url instead of using appinv.aspx page

    Hello all,
    Could you possibly help me with provider-hosted app development/deployment process.
    We developed SharePoint provider-hosted app that works just fine in development environment. Now we need to automate it's installation in test environment via powershell.
    In AppManifest.xml that we are deploying we have key instead of explicit URL:
    <App xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/2012/app/manifest" Name="ShowAllRoomsApp" ProductID="{922a18aa-5592-b59a-4da9-4791baef02e7}" Version="1.0.0.0"
    SharePointMinVersion="15.0.0.0">
      <Properties>
        <Title>SomeTitle</Title>
        <StartPage>~remoteAppUrl/Pages/Default.aspx?{StandardTokens}</StartPage>
    If we use as
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj655398.aspx recommends, we cannot specify Redirect Url as we can do this on
    /_layouts/appinv.aspx
    So now it seems like the only way to deploy this kind of solution is using appinv.aspx page.Or must we apply this URL in AppManifest on developing stage in Visual Studio?
    What did I miss?
    P. S. Even if I use /_layouts/appinv.aspx after powershell commandlets, I get error.

    hi,
    to deploy provider hosted app you need 2 things
    1. Client ID
    2. Redirect URL.
    What you can do you can generate app from visual studio using clientID and URL from developer enviornment.
    Now a app file is just a simple compressed zip file if you rename it as .zip and extract you will find AppManifest
    inside it. So to create an app for Testing enviornment what you have to to Get the CLient ID (from AppRegNew.aspx) in testing enviornment. Unzip .App file change the AppManifest with testing client ID and URL than again zip file and rename as .app.
    Now if you upload this file it will work.
    To automate this scenerio i have created a simple windows Application in which i Pass the Client ID and StartURl and an App File it unzips the app file make changes to app and again zip it.
    public static class AppPackageHelper
    public const string StartUrlExpression = "{0}?{1}";
    public const string StandardToken = "{StandardTokens}";
    public static string Publish(string appPath, string ClientId,string StartUrl)
    string tempDir = string.Empty;
    string outPutFile = string.Empty;
    try
    string parentDir = System.IO.Path.GetDirectoryName(appPath);
    outPutFile = System.IO.Path.Combine(parentDir, ClientId + "-Winshuttle.app");
    tempDir = System.IO.Path.Combine(parentDir, ClientId.ToString());
    Directory.CreateDirectory(tempDir);
    int lastInd = appPath.LastIndexOf('.');
    string tempPath = string.Empty;
    string targetFilePath = string.Empty;
    string cabPath = System.IO.Path.Combine(tempDir, System.IO.Path.GetFileNameWithoutExtension(appPath) + ".cab");
    FileInfo fInfo = new FileInfo(appPath) { IsReadOnly = false };
    File.Copy(appPath, cabPath);
    XDocument doc = null;
    string appManifest = string.Empty;
    using (ZipArchive zipArch = ZipFile.Open(cabPath, ZipArchiveMode.Update))
    appManifest = string.Format(@"{0}\AppManifest.xml", Directory.GetParent(cabPath).FullName);
    ZipArchiveEntry manifestEntry = zipArch.Entries.LastOrDefault(e => e.Name.ToLower() == "appmanifest.xml");
    manifestEntry.ExtractToFile(appManifest);
    doc = XDocument.Load(appManifest);
    XNamespace ns = doc.Root.GetDefaultNamespace();
    string defaultUrl = string.Format(StartUrlExpression, StartUrl.TrimEnd('/'), StandardToken);
    doc.Descendants(XName.Get("StartPage", ns.NamespaceName)).First().Value = defaultUrl;
    doc.Descendants(XName.Get("RemoteWebApplication", ns.NamespaceName)).First().Attribute(XName.Get("ClientId")).Value = setupInfo.ClientId.ToString();
    doc.Save(appManifest);
    if (manifestEntry != null)
    manifestEntry.Delete();
    zipArch.CreateEntryFromFile(appManifest, "AppManifest.xml");
    int totEnt = zipArch.Entries.Count;
    for (int e = 0; e < totEnt; e++)
    if (zipArch.Entries[e].Open().Length == 0)
    //if (zipArch.Entries.Count > totEnt && e >= totEnt) break;
    //zipArch.CreateEntry(zipArch.Entries[e].FullName);
    File.Delete(appManifest);
    if (File.Exists(outPutFile))
    File.Delete(outPutFile);
    File.Move(cabPath, outPutFile);
    return outPutFile;
    catch
    throw;
    finally
    if (System.IO.Directory.Exists(tempDir))
    System.IO.Directory.Delete(tempDir, true);
    return outPutFile;
    using System.IO.Compression.FileSystem.dll.
    Also if you want to do it using powershell You need to do the same thing unzip-> changes values-> zip
    So basic thing is You need to ahve only valid AppManifest file which contains 2 valid values Client Id and StartUrl
    if you changes it inside appmanifest manuall than it will also work. Using above code you can create a console Application to do it. You can use powershell it just that i dont know how to zip unzip in powershell but i am pretty sure you can easily find it
    on searching.

  • SharePoint hosted App that listens and log SharePoint Events

    Basically, what I need, is something that can listen to all events fired in SharePoint and write them to a custom list.
    I was thinking of making this as a SharePoint hosted app because it has to work on SP Online as well.
    The idea is then, to let a provider hosted app read the custom list every x minutes and do it's own logic depending on the events it reads from the custom list.
    So the question is, how do I catch all the events fired in SharePoint and should it be a SharePoint hosted app that does it?
    Any thoughts on how to solve this?
    Thanks.
    Thomas Bomann, simplySo

    Hi,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to track all the event fired in SharePoint .
    Listen to the events in SharePoint needs Server side code, see the article below:
    Programming Event Handling in Windows SharePoint Services
    In SharePoint hosted app, it needs to use Client Object Model, so there is no such Client API to meet the requirement.

  • SharePoint hosted app part and SPHostUrl + SPAppWebUrl

    Hi,
    I have sharepoint hosted app that gets hostweburl and appweburl with the next lines
    function getUrl() {
    hostweburl = getQueryStringParameter("SPHostUrl");
    appweburl = getQueryStringParameter("SPAppWebUrl");
    hostweburl = decodeURIComponent(hostweburl);
    appweburl = decodeURIComponent(appweburl);
    var scriptbase = hostweburl + "/_layouts/15/";
    $.getScript(scriptbase + "SP.Runtime.js",
    function () {
    $.getScript(scriptbase + "SP.js",
    function () { $.getScript(scriptbase + "SP.RequestExecutor.js", execOperation); }
    function execOperation() {
    context = new SP.ClientContext(appweburl);
    appContextSite = new SP.AppContextSite(context, hostweburl);
    And this works fine. But when I'm creating app part those hostweburl and appweburl fields are undefined. So I cant get the context and everything is broken. Is this done in some other way in app parts?

    Like this in the ClientWebPart
    <Content
          Type="html"
          Src="~appWebUrl/Pages/Welcome.aspx?{StandardTokens}&amp;ShowImage=_ShowImage_" />
    The {StandardTokens} contains all the queryString parameters you need.
