Shading Behind Images

Our graphic design team and printer cannot help us so I am hoping someone can help me find resolution. I have tried everything, and for some reason just a few images are appearing with a shaded background (representing the image frame) in print but you cannot see it in IN Design or PDF. The images are .tif files and linked with no errors with translucent backgrounds. Thoughts?!

  • Is there a way to create a heading with shading behind the text and thin lines above and below?

    I'm working with InDesign CS6, Windows 7.
Is there a way, using paragraph rules, to create a heading with shading behind the text and thin lines above and below the text?
I'd like to create headings that look like these:
    Thank you!

I have a document where I almost do such, but without the fill. I use a Head Style which Spans Columns for this instance; it allows the haeds to flow and fill the width.
Paragraph Rules above and below are turned on with plenty of offset.
I tweaked my setting to accomodate your need - It required only one instance, not above and below, and changing the stroke to a double stroke.
It may be necessary to create a custom stroke to modify the proportion of stroke vs fill. There is a difference of thin-thin and  thick-thick, neither of which seemed perfect but might be dependent on the Character height.
Creating custom strokes is accomplished via the Strokes Panel.

  • Red shading behind text

I have G71 laptop 17" that is only 4 months old.  I am seeing very light red shading behind each letter in my text.  It appears wether i am on the web or in my email.  Would this be a video card issue?

Actually a backlight issue is more likely but video card is not impossible. The way to tell is to hook it to an external monitor. If it still shows the red on an external monitor it is the video card. If the external is OK it is the backlight/display panel. Either way, HP should fix it under warranty.

  • Menu dropping down behind image.

    http://72.29.76.51/~organica/index.html
If you scroll over the GROCERY tab, you'll see that the pull down is hidden behind the image below. Any hints on getting the menu to appear in front of the image? Here's the code:

    /* BeginOAWidget_Instance_2141544: #MenuBar */
/* Settable values for skinning a Basic menu via presets. If presets are not sufficient, most skinning should be done in
these rules, with the exception of the images used for down or right pointing arrows, which are in the file SpryMenuBasic.css
These assume the following widget classes for menu layout (set in a preset)
.MenuBar - Applies to all menubars - default is horizontal bar, all submenus are vertical - 2nd level subs and beyond are pull-right.
.MenuBarVertical - vertical main bar; all submenus are pull-right.
You can also pass in extra classnames to set your desired top level menu bar layout. Normally, these are set by using a preset.
They only apply to horizontal menu bars:
MenuBarLeftShrink - The menu bar will be horizontally 'shrinkwrapped' to be just large enough to hold its items, and left aligned
MenuBarRightShrink - Just like MenuBarLeftShrink, but right aligned
MenuBarFixedLeft - Fixed at a specified width set in the rule '.MenuBarFixedLeft', and left aligned.
MenuBarFixedCentered -  - Fixed at a specified width set in the rule '.MenuBarFixedCentered',
and centered in its parent container.
MenuBarFullwidth - Grows to fill its parent container width.
In general, all rules specified in this file are prefixed by #MenuBar so they only apply to instances of the widget inserted along
with the rules. This permits use of multiple MenuBarBasic widgets on the same page with different layouts. Because of IE6 limitations,
there are a few rules where this was not possible. Those rules are so noted in comments.

/* IE6 rules - you can delete these if you do not want to support IE6 */
/* A note about multiple classes in IE6.
    * Some of the rules above use multiple class names on an element for selection, such as "hover" (MenuItemHover) and "has a subMenu" (MenuItemWithSubMenu),
    * giving the selector '.MenuItemWithSubMenu.MenuItemHover'.
    * Unfortunately IE6 does not support using mutiple classnames in a selector for an element. For a selector such as '.foo.bar.baz', IE6 ignores
    * all but the final classname (here, '.baz'), and sets the specificity accordingly, counting just one of those classs as significant. To get around this
    * problem, we use the plugin in SpryMenuBarIEWorkaroundsPlugin.js to generate compound classnames for IE6, such as 'MenuItemWithSubMenuHover'.
    * Since there are a lot of these needed, the plugin does not generate the extra classes for modern browsers, and we use the CSS2 style mutltiple class
    * syntax for that. Since IE6 both applies rules where
    * it should not, and gets the specificity wrong too, we have to order rules carefully, so the rule misapplied in IE6 can be overridden.
    * So, we put the multiple class rule first. IE6 will mistakenly apply this rule.  We follow this with the single-class rule that it would
    * mistakenly override, making sure the  misinterpreted IE6 specificity is the same as the single-class selector, so the latter wins.
    * We then create a copy of the multiple class rule, adding a '.SpryIsIE6' class as context, and making sure the specificity for
    * the selector is high enough to beat the single-class rule in the "both classes match" case. We place the IE6 rule at the end of the
    * css style block to make it easy to delete if you want to drop IE6 support.
    * If you decide you do not need IE6 support, you can get rid of these, as well as the inclusion of the SpryMenuBarIEWorkaroundsPlugin.js script.
    * The 'SpryIsIE6' class is placed on the HTML element by  the script in SpryMenuBarIEWorkaroundsPlugin.js if the browser is Internet Explorer 6. This avoids the necessity of IE conditional comments for these rules.

I have not been able to figure this one outy. i am very new to CSS and Dreamweaver. This is a template that i want to use across my entire site. You can goto http://www.gray-wolf.net/MainPages.html.

Your unexpected (and undesired) wolf call on entering that page scared the begesus outta me.  Most people don't take kindly to such surprises!
You do realize that the page you linked to is a TEMPLATE page, but it is named with an HTML extension, right?  You did that just to show us the template?
Also, it appears that you have built your entire site inside of the Templates folder -
    <a href="Templates/pgpage1.htm" title="Page 1 of my Photo Gallery">
That's improper.  Nothing should be in the Templates folder other than the template files themselves.
Finally, your use of absolute positioning as a primary page layout method is going to get you into serious trouble.  Please read this -
    http://apptools.com/examples/pagelayout101.php
    Now - here's the problem:
You have applied a style of 'overflow:hidden' to div#nav.  Remove that.  With that in place, the submenus cannot flow OUT of div#nav.

  • Slideshow Behind Image in Fluid Design

I'm attempting to have an auto slide show run behind an image of a TV so that the slide show appears to be various screen shots appearing "on" the TV screen.   I found this site as a perfect example where the images cycle in the picture frame:
    www.bozthebear.com
I need this to be fluid such that it scales with screen size/device (just as the example page does).  Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Placing WHITE behind image to print

    Hey everybody,
I have a question for you. I'm working for an aerosol company and we need a new label. The existing label has been build up quite a few years ago, but now we need a new product in the range. The label will be printed on a silver sticker or printed litho on the can.
The image on the bottom needs replacement. But there needs to be white behind the images. As you can see in the color separations in Acrobat.
    And the setup in illustrator
The bottom layer "image" is a pink background (same pms) with an outer glow, however, this glow doesn't show up in appearances.
I've tried to recreate the setup, but i was told there needs to be white behind the image.
    Which results in:
I have no real clue on what is wrong, and i can't seem to figure it out from the files.
Is the problem maybe that the picture needs to be in grayscale? Someone who might have an idea?
    Kind regards,
    Olivier

Maybe if i throw in a shape with the blur, it might work. I'll check back in tomorrow with info if it worked or not!
If someone else has a solution, feel free to drop them!

  • Why are guidelines behind images?

    Hello,
I have created a form with a master page that includes an image to serve as a page background. When I drag my guidelines onto the page, they go behind the image background. I have "Show Guidelines" checked in the Drawing Aids palette. Is there any way to force guidelines on top of objects and images?
    Thank you.

The desktop image is fine, taken from the exact same pool of jpg photos.  However, as soon as the slide show screen saver comes on, the images are scrambled.  What is it about the apple screen saver algorithm that scrambles the pics?

  • Print illustrations on white background;  eliminate gray square/rectangle behind images

working on desktop publishing project that will be printed in black white only. Have photoshop images that will be used as illustrations. when I put these images into InDesign and print them, a gray square/rectangle appears behind the image. I cannot eliminate the gray background. it is essential to the project that the images print directly on paper without the background gray. have tried several youtube video lessons but none has been completely successful yet.

I don't quite understand..........I'm using iwork pages, I click on shapes (square), I fill square with pink, I click on media (clips are stored there), picture of butterfly is than place within the pink square. However I would like it so that the picture of the butterfly layout only with the pink background. I don't want the white background. Am I missing something, or I'm just not being clear? Thanks for any further assistants.

  • Nav/Menu bar hidden behind images

I placed my nav/menu widget in my master page. I have several layers in each page that I would like to arranged behind the nev/menu bar so I can still utilize it. Muse doesn't seem to let me push the images back behind the nav bar. Currently my photos are covering the nav bar so it can't be utilized. Help! Thank you.

With the release of Muse 4.0 today, Master page elements can now layer in front of content on those pages to which the Master has been applied. To re-order Master page content select elements on the Master page, right-click and select "Move to Master Foreground" or "Move to Master Background" from the popup menu. Alternatively select elements on the Master page, then select Object > Move to Background or Foreground in the Muse application menu. All elements in the Master page set to "Move to Master Foreground" will appear on top of all elements in the Page.
Please refer to Muse release notes for more information on this.

How can I get rid of this. I know that it is possible. If you look at the following site,  the images resize perfectly:

  • Dynamic text behind image?

Hello, i have this dynamic textbox where im loading a number, that works fine, but then im loading a picture from an array on the same place as the number, and the picture comes on top of the textbox. How do i get the number on top of the image? thx.
    Code for the part:

Try using:  addChild(dayNr);   right after the line where you addChild(my_loader)

I am getting stripes down the sides of the file copy dialog when the dialog does not have focus and when I click the dialog the stripes go away. when the dialog looses focus to another window the stripes return. This has only started to occur since I installed the 10.5.3 update. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? or does anyone know why this is happening?

  • Remove transparent canvas/background from behind image

    Howdy,
Is it possible to remove the transparent background (see pic) of the canvas so that all I export as an image is the asymetrical rock? I want to use the rock as a button in flash and need it to be the exact shape of the rock without the 3 transparent corners (bc the corners are then perceived by fla as part of the button, so then I get this square button instead of asymetric rock shape button). Sorry if this is posted elsewhere.
Thanks for any help you can give!
    k

    Nice flame silky...
Yes I am well aware of transparent means. And yes, I saved the file as a .png, retaining transparent qualities.
Here, I'll type slow so you can understand...
Again (as I stated originally) the issue is this...when I import the .png into flash the png file comes as a square. I don't want a square the 3 transparent corners get in the way. Yes the 3 corners arrowed in my originaly querry are transparent, BUT flash registers the image as a square, not as the asymetrical rock shape, which is what I want. I've included another pic so you can see the problem (see below).
If you click the pic, it will enlarge and you can see the blue lines (top & right) which are the border for the imported .png. Again, I want to import this rock image solely as the rock with no transparent tag alongs. Can this be done or not?
Kindly share, or let someone with more patience and understanding answer my questions.

  • JUmbled text in Safari, and it runs off the page and behind images

i have a really annoying problem that is only happening in Safari under every user on my computer.
I have been to the Apple store and they have tried to fix it, but it perplexed everyone there I guess,
either that or the fact that it was 8:30 and they close at 9... go figure. Anyways- When in Safari on
certain websites that are heavier on text the words displayed in the headlines or body copy overlap, become jumbled, and run off the page.
As I am typing this it is not letting my words wrap to the next line in the text box, I have to hit enter
everytime I want to go to a new line. This problem is getting so annoying, and I am on the brink of
switching to Firefox but I love Safari so much more. Can someone please help? I have already look
at the " never display fonts larger than____ option" I am hopelessly in need of some advice. Thanks
in advance for your time and patience. Have a great day!
