Share your exporting workflow for HD content

Dear Members of the Forum,
Could you please give me a piece of advice (or direct me to relevant posts) regarding setting the export video-audio settings in Adobe Premiere Pro CS3? Basically I’m looking for an Adobe Premiere Pro workflow for DV AVI and AVCHD files.
I have HD footage shot in both DV AVI - 30F(Canon HV40) and AVCHD – 30F (Canon HF200) formats. My goal is to export the edited footage with less possible quality loss into a format that could be played on the well known Western Digital HD Media Player: http://www.wdc.com/en/products/Products.asp?DriveID=735 or burned onto a BD disc.
What I’ve tried so far is to export the dv.avi footage shot with my Canon HV40 utilizing the ‘Movie’ preset in Adobe using both ‘Microsoft DV AVI’ and ‘Uncompressed Microsoft AVI’ settings. In both of the cases the exported file was not recognized by the WD hd media player. I'm not sure if it will be recognized by my BD player if I burn it on a BD disc.
Exporting in MPEG2 format through the ‘Adobe Media Encoder’ machine was successful and playable but naturally suffered from significantly reduced quality of the output compared to the input.
In short, what is the workflow you follow when exporting hd footage and aiming to achieve little quality loss in the output?
Thank you.

Thank you Ann. I followed your advice but still face some problems. Here is what I did:
1. Took my original AVCHD footage and converted it in .AVI files using Cineform Prospect HD.
2. Imported and edited the footage in Adobe Premiere Pro CS3
3. Exported the edited footage using the 'MPEG-2 Blu Ray' preset in the Adobe Media Encoder
4. Ended up with two files: the video in .M2V and audio in WAV.
This posed a new dilemma: how do I play these files on my Western Digital HD Media Player?
Should I use another converter to combine the M2V and WAV files into one playable file?
Or, I should use a software to burn those two files onto a DVD and play them on my DVD player?
I want to avoid burning BD discs as I don't have a BD burner at the moment.
In short, please help me understand how to export HDV edited content --> HD files with less possible loss of quality and to be able to
play the exported files either on on a regular DVD or even better to play them from
an external hard drive connected to my Western Digital HD Media Player. Here are the formats that the player supports:
Video - AVI (Xvid, AVC, MPEG1/2/4), MPG/MPEG, VOB, MKV (h.264, x.264, AVC, MPEG1/2/4, VC-1), TS/TP/M2T (MPEG1/2/4, AVC, VC-1), MP4/MOV (MPEG4, h.264), M2TS, WMV9
I guess many people faced the same predicament but I cannot find literature on the topic. Please help.
Thank you!

  • OOTB Approval Workflow for a Content Type sends emails for 2 content types

My environment: SP 2013 Server (WFE-APP) + SQL
I have a few Content Types configured in a document library. Every content type has an OOTB approval workflow to fire an e-mail to the approver on each new/edit.
When I create a new file for testing, it first becomes checked out with no properties added. I then edit the properties to specify its content type and other fields. When I check in the document, SharePoint sends out an e-mail to the approver for that content
type which is correct. What SharePoint also does for this very same file is sends out an approval request e-mail for the default content type for that library which is something else than a desired content type.
This is something I cannot understand. I thought that the workflows start on a file 'Check in'. If I check in a file that is a certain content type, why does the approval for a default content type for a library trigger as well?

    Hi,
Is it SharePoint 2013 workflow or previous 2010 model workflow? If it's SharePoint 2013, how are you associating workflow to content type. As per
MSDN "Unlike previous versions, SharePoint 2013 does not support workflows that are scoped to a
content type. However, the messaging infrastructure is extensible, so it can support
any arbitrary scope. As a developer, you can set to", workflow association with content type (which was possible in SharePiont 2010) is no longer available out of the box. You need to do it manually, (not sure how as there's no documentation yet
    from MS) and programmatically.

  • How can we implement workflow for Deleted content

    Hi Experts,
whenever we delete a content , It never went into Workflow.
I want when user delete any content, It should go into workflow. When approver approves it, only then content item should actually deleted. If approver rejects it, content item should not get deleted.
Is there any way to achieve this ??
    thanks

Several things jump out about how you may be using delete.
First is that delete rights are set up as separate and distinct from Read and Write (contribute) rights. This is true even for content authors.
There is good reasoning behind this. Basically, because deleting items has special and often regulated meaning, giving users delete permission should be a very intentional action and never a default.
Second, using the "expiry" functionality is a much better and safer option in most cases. Expiring a piece of content removes it from visibility to all except the sysadmin. Expiring content effectively "soft deletes" the item from the user experience while allowing the administrators to still recover the item if necessary. Another advantage of expiring content rather than deleting it is that as the content approaches the expiry date or as an expiry action is triggered, this can automatically trigger actions like a workflow review, email notification, BPEL service call etc. This gives you advance warning as well as the ability to intercept, review, and sign off on the action. You can also run batch jobs to archive and store or archive / delete "expired" items if you determine that you still need to do this.
Finally, if you have considered the above options and still determine that you need to capture "delete requests" then the best option is to write a custom component that intercepts the delete service request and triggers a workflow, notification, expiry or other action.
Remember that when you delete an item you must consider whether or not you are deleting just the latest released revision or all revisions or some selection of revisions. OOTB, UCM allows those with delete permissions to delete revisions one at a time. The repository manager applets provide admins with a bit more batching flexibility.
    Hope that helps,

  • FCE Export settings for Web content

I'm about to help a friend make a how-to video for the web. I have not shot it yet and I've never made anything for the web before so I wanted to verify the correct settings before I start. I will be shooting with a Canon HV30 in HD 30 fps. What easy setup and export settings will allow the footage to retain quality when exporting / uploading to the web? Do I need a separate compressor? Thanks.

The Easy Setup should always match the format of the footage you shot, as should the Sequence setting. The Canon shoots HDV, so [you need to read this first|http://documentation.apple.com/en/finalcutpro/professionalformatsandworkf lows/#chapter=2%26section=0].
With the correct settings make the best quality master file that the material will allow. This file can then be used for a variety of delivery formats, should you choose to show it in places other than on the web.
To make your web video, use a H264 web preset in Compressor. If you need to deliver a Flash file for the web, rename the H264 movie's file extension to .flv -in most cases it will work fine.

  • What is your export process for printing custom-sized books?

I will be printing my first custom-sized book created in Aperture.
Anyone have much experience doing this?
I am assuming that exporting to pdf and then sending that file to print is the process, but I'm wondering if the compression will affect the image quality enough to be concerned for a 9''x9'' book?

    Lots of experience here.
I outsource albums either as single page or double spread. Unfortunately Aperture only allows single page export, not as a full spread (required by some printers).
Unfortunately the Export options are a little limited, so read on
If you click on the Print button for your custom sized book, you'll get a dialog. Choose the PDF button at the bottom and a bunch of options will appear.
If you just want to export a proof for a client to review, you can select Save PDF to Aperture. The files will import as 200dpi JPEGs / TIFFs depending upon the option you choose. You can then export to a sharing service / web album etc.
If you want to export at a different dpi then DON'T choose the Save PDF to folder as JPEG option... again you'll get just 200dpi images. So what you can do is choose the Save as PDF option. When you choose that it will export the whole book as single pages in a PDF, with the embedded JPEGs (fully quality jpeg 12) at 350dpi (I know as I've checked this)....
You can then do 2 things:
    1. For services that require a single pages, run an automator action to run through the PDF and export the images at your desired DPI and change the colour profile (eg sRGB). Your images are then exported to the same folder. Here's the action: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/117989/Save%20PDF%20to%20Folder%20as%20JPEG.zip
    2. For services that require a double page spread instead, run an automator action to run through the PDF, change the colour profile and DPI and then import to Aperture.
What I do is have an entirely separate project called Album Proofs and import all images into there. When the action runs, it will ask where to put the images - place them in Album Proofs. I then have a custom book size that is twice the width of the album you are creating (e.g. if making a 12x9, the size is 24x9) with no margins or spacing. Then create a template album (you can reuse by right clicking and selecting Duplicate Book) that has two images per page, each image taking up EXACTLY half of the page (again no margins or spacing). I then drag the images I imported into this template, then auto-fill unplaced images. Your images are then layed out as spreads... So now what you do is re-export using the Save as PDF print option. Then run the action described in 1 above.
Here's the action: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/117989/Save%20PDF%20to%20Aperture%20as%20JPEG.zip . If it doesn't work use the other action above and just import manually.
    Hope this helps

  • Best Workflow for HD content onto a DVD

Hello to you all out there! Here's what I'd like to do...I want to be able to burn HD footage onto a DVD, but still watch it as HD footage. I know that DVD resolution is MUCH lower, and am looking for a workaround for that. So what I need help with is:
    1. What settings am I looking for as far as my export from Premiere CS5.5?
    2. What settings in Encore?
    Thanks in advance!

Fortunately BD disks are not that expensive any more. Philips 10 disks are for $10, Titan BD 10 disks are under 10. Blu ray burners are under 100 dollars on newegg.
So my point is, if the stuff is affordable,  why to go thru hoops and humps and complexity to create BD disks, if it could be done just the way it is meant to be done? Unless you have a lifetime supply of DVDs, or hard core DVD fan.

  • Verizon does not care about keeping one of their most loyal customers.  Please share your similiar stories for a news article I am working on

This seems insane to me.  I am working on getting the exact start dates of contract for a news story that I am doing for work.
My approximate guess though is we have paid over $40,000 in service fees and they are throwing away guaranteed minimum of over $6,000 in fees by not having these lines resigned to another contract.
I am not bitter.  I wish I could keep their service, but it is not up to me.
I just can not believe how much

The only thing is that I don't get how people can get scammed or cheated by VZW. I have not had a problem with them. Granted, I've only been a customer since 2011 but I have been very happy with my service. When I joined and had less service inside my house than I did with AT&T and they told me that I they can't guarantee me service inside a structure I wasn't exactly happy but I got it. I have never gotten more than what I asked for when buying a new device. I certainly don't let sales people pressure me so I will never walk out of a store with a tablet or hot spot that I don't want. I also fully understand that, when signing a contract, if I decline insurance and something happens to my phone it is NOT VZW's fault. The ones who complain are the ones who don't want to live by the contracts that they have signed, and might I add, voluntarily. These are the people for whom the Edge program was program was developed. They don't have to sign a contract and keep a device for 2 years. They can essentially get a phone whenever they want. The phone is potentially lower cost when you figure in the discount. However THIS flexibility is NEVER good for them yet they threaten to call the news or a lawyer to dispute said contract. I say to all of these people...get over yourself. I am tired of it. You're nobody special.

  • Workflow for content delete

    Hey,
Is it possible to set up a workflow for deleting content from Content Server?
    Thanks,

    No.
But you may use the Archiver http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/doc.1111/e10792/c08_migration.htm#CHDFAJGF or Records Management (if you want more formal processes) http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/doc.1111/e10733/toc.htm

  • Best workflow for deinterlacing DV NTSC?

I've been trying to upload some DV NTSC material to the web, so as a final step I've been deinterlacing the video through compressor.
For some reason, I couldn't get frame controls to work successfully, and I also couldn't get it to export as progressive via the sequence setting. I was only successful when applied the de-interlace filter to each clip in the sequence.
The results were impressive, but in the past I've had no problem working with Compressor or the sequence settings.
So my question to you all is: what is your preferred workflow for de-interlacing footage upon export? Any links that anyone can point me to? Any ideas why I might not be having any success via compressor or my sequence settings?

You suggesting nesting. I applied the filter to one clip, then copy pasted the filter in one go to all the others.
IMO, it's six of one. I was more interested in figuring out why I'm having trouble with changing the sequence settings to field order: "none," or why compressor's frame controls were showing no noticable difference.
So "gah!" right back at you.
Edit: I guess what drew my attention was that you said "Have you tried..." when I clearly stated that that is what I had tried and had gotten to work previously.

    Hi,
I hope you know the process of modeling a workflow. If not follow the tutorial in the help document:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/fb/135962457311d189440000e829fbbd/frameset.htm
If you have already done some workflow modeling then you can proceed as follows:
    1. Check for any standard events. Go to transaction SWEL and see if there are any events triggered by the standard transaction. If yes then you can build your own workflow for that event.
If there are no standard events then you can raise them from either of the following based on the availability of the same:
    2. Are change documents active? Once you perform the transaction go to transaction SE11 and view the contents of the table CDHDR for the entries with your name as the creator. If the transaction writes a change document then you can trigger off a workflow through an event which is linked to the change document object. For more details go here:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/c5/e4aeef453d11d189430000e829fbbd/frameset.htm
    3. If the transaction has a status management built in then you can raise through this as well. For more information see this:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/c5/e4aed5453d11d189430000e829fbbd/frameset.htm
    4. If you are not lucky in either of the steps below then you need to implements a User Exit or a BADI and raise an event through the function module: SWE_EVENT_CREATE.
    Hope this helps,
    Sudhi

  • FCP X workflow for export to MP4...

    Hello
    i would love if someone helped me and broke out a workflow for exporting to a MP4 file with a 2500kbps +, 1920 x 1080 or 1280 x 720.
in previous FCP no problemo - i'm really struggling with this.
    i have FCP X 10.1.3 and compressor 4.1.3
    Mac X, 10.9.4, 1.7Ghz, Core i7
I want to upkeep the max quality
I have a high quality audio track over top of a string of PNG files (basically powerpoint slides exported to PNGs) from a PPT presentation.
    thanks a ton!
    jks

Create a custom setting in Compressor by clicking the plus button in the bottom of the Settings pane of Compressor. In the drop down, choose MPEG 4. Make your adjustments in the Inspector. In FCP, choose Compressor Settings from the Share menu. That will open Compressor. Choose your MP4 setting.

  • Workflow Status column for new content type

    Hi,
Initially I had a document library and several workflows associated with it. After that I created a new content type inheriting Folder content type. My existing workflows could be started and work fine with any item of this new content type except anything
related to the workflow status column, such as "Automatically update workflow status to the current stage name", or workflow action "Set workflow status". If I use the OOTB Folder content type, everything's fine. But I need custom fields
    for folder as well.
The workflows can be started then it seems unreasonable that they are not associated with the items of the new content type, considering I set my new content type to be the child of the existing Folder content type. So why any item under this new content
type does not have the workflow status column? I've tried removing the workflow from the list and publishing back using SPD without success.
I also notice that when you associate a new content type to a document library/list which has some custom columns, you cannot edit those columns to be used in the new content type. You need to delete those columns and recreate them, then the option "Add
to all content types" is there. Is this expected design?
    Thanks

    Hi,
According to your post, an error occurred when you created a custom Edit form for new content type.
    We can do as follows:
    1.Add the MyNameSpace.MyNewEditPage dll file into GAC(C:\Windows\assembly).
    2. Execute the iisreset command.
We can create a new content type using visual studio 2012/2013.
