"Shared a folio with you" Email

Does anyone else have an issue with the auto-generated email that gets sent to users when you share a folio with them? The email is super confusing to my clients, I get at least a handful of emails every week from people new to the content viewer getting content shared with them, then clicking the link that is provided with the email, which triggers safari to open and message about browser incompatibility.

Yes, I include that, but not unfortunately I think people read the subject line and then tap the first link they see with out reading. Granted, at that point it is "user error," but I just cant see any value in including the link and making it more complicated than it needs to be. Odds are unless a shared user needs to reset their password they would never have reason to access the dps backend.

  • How to create a shared Apple ID with iCloud email address for household?

I would like to create a shared Apple ID with iCloud email address that wife and I can share and access from separate devices? A shared household iCloud email address would be useful for email contact for creating/managing bill accounts for utilities, school for kids, bill pay etc…  I currently have my own Apple ID on my MBP.
    Thanks!

If you mean that you would like to create a shared iCloud account with a shared iCloud email address and you already have an iCloud account of your own, you can do that by creating a new Apple ID (see https://appleid.apple.com/account), then use the ID to set up a secondary iCloud account on your Mac by going to System Preferences>Internet Accounts (or Mail,Contacts,Calendars)>iCloud and signing in with the new ID.  You can then turn enable Mail in this account to create the shared email account.  Secondary accounts are more limited than primary iCloud accounts, and will only sync Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders and Notes.
Once the account is created, it can be added to iOS devices by signing in with the ID in Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Add Account>iCloud.
Or, if your only interest is in having a shared email account, you might consider just setting up a free Gmail account to share.

  • Having trouble sharing my folio with a client

I'm having trouble sharing my folios with clients.  I clicked the share button and sent the e-mail to the client.  They received the e-mail and signed up for an adobe account.  When they try to log into Adobe Content Viewer on their iPad using their Adobe credentials they keep getting log in failed notices.  Does anyone know why this is happening?  Thanks.

After they log in and accept the terms they should be able to log into the ACV with that account and download the folio.

  • Newly added contacts suddenly become strangers (not shared their details with you)

A newly added contact suddenly disappears after a few minutes, it's still present in my contact list, but with the gray question mark and "this person has not shared their details with you", even though in the conversation itself it says "<friend> has shared contact details with <myself>". On the other side, it seems like none of this is happening and my friend can still see my status as if I was their contact (which I am). After re-sending the contact request multiple times (which is instantly accepted, it doesn't seem to even display on my friend's side, he just instantly becomes my contact again) it seems to have sorted itself out and that person is now in my contacts, hopefully for good. Now yesterday I added a new contact and the same thing happens, she appears as a stranger about 10 minutes after accepting my contact request, even though it seemed fine on the mobile app while she was online, but now even mobile considers her as not part of my contacts, and also her profile picture isn't displaying on the mobile app. Note : there is already a thread about this in the Skype for Windows Desktop section, however since this problem has clearly nothing to do with the client you're using and is related to the platform/whatever software runs on Microsoft's servers, I'm reposting this here. Skype for Windows Desktop version 6.20.0.104 running on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, and Skype for iPhone version "idon'tknowwhat because there's no "about" page apparently" running on iOS 8.0.2, iPhone 5S. My Skype account isn't linked with any Facebook nor Microsoft account (it was, but it's been unlinked about two months ago). To avoid this thread the same fate as the linked one, that is becoming polluted by some smart-ass that believes everything is caused by a virus, corruption of the Skype folder in AppData or compromised account, let me state this right now : my password was changed, the account isn't compromised (checked with /showplaces and the only logged in clients are my desktop and my iPhone) and the AppData folder was already deleted, without success (it made things worse my making my entire contact list disappear for 24h, fortunately they slowly came back one by one), so if you have nothing to say please refrain from copy/pasting such useless answers.

Hi, I hope someone can help me.  I have a similar problem to Andre (from original post a week ago below).  I only use Skype to communicate with a personal friend who has recently been posted abroad (Europe) to work.  I always sign in via my Microsoft account and have done since Microsoft & Skype merged and I linked the two together.  My contact does the same.  As my accounts are linked, my friend shows up in my contacts both as a Skype contact and also a Messenger contact.  When we communicate, it is normally always via our Skype names although I can see them online under both names.  On Friday night however, they came online but shortly afterwards, I noticed that the grey question mark had appeared next to their Skype name saying 'Person has not shared their contact details with you'.  They are still showing up ok under their Messenger name as it appears as offline, so I have been a bit confused why this has happened and I haven't yet had a chance to speak to my friend to ask them.  I decided to look at the Skype help forum and came across this post by Andre who has had a similar problem, although he says it has happened with a couple of new contacts but his problem has now been resolved.  I was hoping someone could help me and give me some advice as to what I should do now.  I have checked my computer and have the latest Skype version for desktop installed.  I am using Internet Explorer 11; Windows 7 Home version - 64 bit.  I also have the Skype app on my android smartphone which has the most recent updated version.  I don't really use Skype on my phone although I did log-in on late Friday afternoon but didn't stay on long before I signed out.  I have read in posts in the past about corrupted files etc on Skype but because I don't know much about these things,  I don't like to mess about with the programs that are installed on my computer because I don't know what I'm doing. The person who responded to Andre's query was a staff moderator called Aimi, who had previously told him to send the name of the contact in question who had the grey question mark appear beside them.  I would be very grateful if someone could help me with this problem as I would like it sorted out as soon as possible please. Thanks, Linda F. AndréDaniel wrote:A newly added contact suddenly disappears after a few minutes, it's still present in my contact list, but with the gray question mark and "this person has not shared their details with you", even though in the conversation itself it says "<friend> has shared contact details with <myself>". On the other side, it seems like none of this is happening and my friend can still see my status as if I was their contact (which I am). • Someone has stopped sharing a calendar with you- can we reshare

    Hello,
We had two calendars for our office on iCloud - shared throughout one computer and three iPhones. An employee left the company and since then the message has popped up on both calendars "___ calendar is no longer shared - this calendar is no longer viewable because (name of employee) stopped sharing it".
Is there any way we can re share the calendar or will it permanently stop working because it may have been originally set up by the departed employee?
    Thank you
    Any help appreciated

Just have the calendar owner resend the invitation to you, as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mm6b1a9cbb.

  • Sharing a folio shouldn't require flash

Would be great if that link in the "Stu wants to share this folio with you" email would work on an iPad.
It causes no end of "I can review it, becuase it doesn't work" emails!

Our team confirmed there is an issue with the emails getting sent out. The actual share works: if you log in with the account you sent the share to you'll see the folio there. It's just the email itself that isn't getting sent.
Our operations folks are working on resolving the email piece now.

  • Sharing Folio With Someone Via Email.

I'm new to DPS, and I'm creating a sample folio in order to see how it works.  The problem I'm having is that
the Folio articles themselves do not show up, i.e. no words and images as I see in InDesign.
Below is a description of what I did and what I see.
I created two articles and put them in one folio.  The very first thing I really want to learn how to do is how to share this with someone, especially someone like a potential employer, who may or may not have their own DPS or Adobe account.
So, I understand that in the Folio Builder there is a dropdown menu
on the top right corner of that window where you can select Share, and then enter in someone's email address.
I sent it to myself as a test, incidentally another email address than the one I have used to log into Adobe for my DPS use.
When I get the email, it contains a link.  The wording is like: MYNAME has shared the SAMPLENAME folio with you.
The email also has this line: To accept the invitation or access the folio in the Folio Producer web client, click on the link above.
So, when I click on it, it goes to a page on this domain: https://digitalpublishing.acrobat.com, and
then loads this page with Digital Publishing Suite at the top.  A row of drop down menus and buttons, including a button named "Open."
Then it shows my SAMPLENAME folio in a row.
If I select the name of my folio, and click the "Open" button, it goes to a new page, with
Digital Folio Producer: Editor at the top, with SAMPLENAME next to it.  Then it has a row
of buttons and a slider for Thumbnail size. Below that are two drop down menus with
the names of my articles, SAMPLEARTICLE1 and SAMPLEARTICLE2.  Those dropdown
menus contain the options: Copy to...; Delete...; Lock; Rename...
I do not see my actual articles, words and images.  I do not see how to open these up.  I cannot find anywhere on the
internet, including in Adobe video tutorials, if anyone else has had this problem, or how to solve it.  Can anyone please help?

Bob, thanks again for responding.  I have to say though that I still need more clarification, or perhaps this is something that Adobe is not doing correctly.  In other words, can you pass this along up the chain, so that it is fixed, so that a team of engineers comes up with a better solution?  I'm talking about the regular sharing, not the "social sharing," which is beyond me as I don't have a pro or enterprise DPS subscription.
I need to understand exactly how I'm supposed to share a folio with someone.  I suppose that of the two evils, requiring an H.R. person to have InDesign with DPS installed on their computer versus having an iPad where they can download the free Adobe Content Viewer, then the ACV app is the lesser of two evils.
Can you please break it down into steps.
Such as 1.  Once having created a folio that I want to share I tell the person I want to share it with----go to
this web page: https://digitalpublishing.acrobat.com/welcome.html, create an account.  Then, tell me the
email address you used to create the account.  Then, download the Adobe Content Viewer on your ipad.
    Then, sign into that account.
    2. I select "Share" from the dropdown menu of the folio builder, and type in the email address they used to
register with Adobe's DPS page, and perhaps include a message and send it.
    3. The recipient sees the email, and then DOESN'T click on the links inside the email.  They just understand----or I tell them----that they should ignore the link------and go to their app, where they will see an update button, and then
they update it and it downloads the Folio I've been wanting to share with them.
    Is this correct?
If this is correct, why is it not spelled out this way anywhere on the site, or in the tutorial video?
And also, if this is correct, does this not seem crazy?
What is the point of the email being sent, which has links in it, if the links are not to be clicked?
Why can I NOT------just as an example off the top of my head----export a Folio in a format that can be
read by a standalone Adobe Content Viewer, that any person can download from an Adobe page?
Like the way an SWF file can be exported from Flash, and then played by a email recipient via a
standalone Flash Player.  Yes, you either have to send them a standalone Flash player, or they
need to download it themselves, but I don't think they have to register to do it.  And they don't
need to sign in within Flashplayer.
First of all, asking a recipient to download and register their own Adobe ID (let's assume they are not a
graphic designer) is bad enough.  But then, in order to share it with them, I send them an email with links
    that don't work as expected.
    I've got an idea.
Let's say that some people you want them to see the Folio on their ipad, not be able to
edit it, just view it such as with the Adobe Content Viewer app.  And there are other people where you want
them to be able to edit it in Folio Producer at this domain: https://digitalpublishing.acrobat.com
How about there are two different actions in InDesign to take for these two very different scenarios?
Are you telling me there is one method that enables both of these outcomes?  This same email that's generated
is for these two separate purposes?
Even the method for viewing the shared Folio which is to sign in, within Folio Builder which is within InDesign, doesn't require going to the email.  The email seems to be sent just as an acknowledgment that you enabled this Folio to be
shared with a particular person (identified by their email address).
In other words, if you just want someone to take a look at it, and they have Folio Builder and thus Desktop Content Viewer, the "Share" action could enable sharing on the Adobe website, but an email doesn't actually need to get sent to the person with whom it's being shared.  The links in the email will just confuse them.
So, the https://digitalpublishing.acrobat.com page, found through the link in the email is strictly for editing it the Folio outside of InDesign--------but you cannot view it in your browser.  In other words, if you don't have InDesign, then you
can edit in your desktop browser, and you can view it on your iPad, but you cannot edit it on your iPad, or view it in your desktop browser.  Is this correct?
I think something needs to be done, this process doesn't seem elegant.  And there needs to be more clear explanation of this process outside the forum.

  • How do you know when the person that you've shared the file with has downloaded the file?

After the person get the email that says "I am sharing these files with you.   Click on the image below to view or download your file.", how do you know that they've viewed or downloaded the file?  Do you get an email message or is there something in the shared status that lets you know?

Thank you for your post. Although this is a feature for Buzzword, right now it's not possible to know if someone has viewed a file you've sent via Share. We are working to integrate Share/My Files/Buzzword so that this will be corrected in future.
Let me know if you have additional questions.

  • Sharing a folio sans e-mail

Is there any way to share folios via the Folio Builder without it sending an e-mail alert?  The contents of the e-mail will only cause confusion for the people we're sharing the folios with since we simply want them to view the folios in the Adobe Content Viewer app.  I seem to remember that you could tell it not to send an e-mail when sharing via the acrobat.com interface, however since that isn't supported I was hoping it was possible in the Folio Builder.

  • I have two Iphones with different email addresses sharing one Apple ID. Will that cause problems with using messaging and FaceTime?

I have two Iphones 5 with different email addresses sharing one Apple ID account. Both are using IOS 8.
I would like to set up a new Apple Id for one of the phones and remove it from the old account.
If I do that, can I move all of the purchased apps and songs to the new Apple account?
Also, will sharing one Apple ID account with two devices cause problems with using messaging and FaceTime?

Sharing an iCloud account between two devices can be done without causing issues with iMessage and FaceTime, just go into Settings for each of these functions and designate separate points of contact (i.e. phone number only, or phone number and unique email address).  While that works, you'll then face the problem where a phone call to one iPhone will ring both if on the same Wi-Fi network -- but again, that can be avoided by changing each phone's settings.
Rather than do all that, don't fight it -- use separate IDs for iCloud.  You can still use a common ID for iTunes purchases (the ID for purchases and iCloud do not have to be the same) or you can use Family Sharing to share purchases from a primary Apple account.

i shared an ipod 5th gen with my ex partner and she set it up with her email and password. i have the ipod now but no password and would like to put it on my email and password so that i can wipe it clean and start again, any ideas?

The iPod isn't tied to an Apple ID, but is likely tied to an iTunes library. If you want to set it up as a new iPod (as if you were just pulling it out of the box), restore it to factory settings in iTunes.

How do I not sync notes with my email? I have a business email on my iphone as well as my husbands iphone. Now all of my notes are on his phone, and all of his notes he previously has on his iphone are gone. We have never adjusted any settings or hooked it up to itunes, I only added the shared email account to his phone. Help???

    Hi StoneLeadyFarms,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like notes on your devices may have synced when the email account was added, as described here:
    iOS: Syncing Notes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4191
Notes are associated with an IMAP email account or iCloud account. To sync Notes, enable Notes for each account in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars or Settings > iCloud.
You can stop syncing notes by tapping Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars or Settings > iCloud, tapping the email address that you added, and switching Notes to the off position.
Additionally, if your husband has backed up his iPhone to iTunes or iCloud, the steps in this article can help with recovering the lost notes from his device:

  • Seeing Users You Have Shared A Script With

Is there a way to see which users you have shared a script with?  I have gone in and added the email addresses of a few people with different roles and was wating to do a couple of things:
Make sure everyone who needs access I have added
Color code those who are co-authors or commentors
I don't see anywhere that I can view those I have given access to, to verify or do either of those two things.
    Your help is appreciated.

    Hi Joe
Once your shared script has been accepted by the users, you can see all the users with whom you have shared the script at 2 different places.
1.Just select (don't open) the script in the Projects View. Notice at the bottom right corner it would say Shared Document (x users) where x is the number of users including you who have access to the document. Click on it to reveal the name and role of all the collaborators.
2.If the script is opened, notice in the bottom bar. You can see Shared Document (x users) there also and you can click on it to reveal all collaborators.
Try it and let us know if it works for you.
As for the different colours, when different collaborators comment on a script the text box in which the comment appears is of different colour depending upon the role of the collaborator.
Let us know if this works for you.
    Thanks

My current Apple ID, for which all of my content has been downoaded (e.g., music, apps) is associated with a work email address that I will no longer have access to in the near future.  In my Apple ID account, I noticed I had two alternate emails listed, one is my .me account and the other is my .gmail account.  I use my .gmail account, and it is the primary email I use with friends and family.  I noticed both were not verified, and when I tried to, it said they were both associated with other accounts.  I was able to log into a separate Apple ID account I must have set up at tone point with my .gmail, and I changed the email address to a new one I created.  I also deleted the gmail account from any other Apple-relted account I could think of.  I am still gettgin the same error message when I try to add it to my current Apple ID: "This email address is already in use or you may already have an Apple ID associated with this email address. Please try again or sign in using your existing Apple ID."
My concern is this: with FaceTime and now iMessage, it seems more important than ever that I am able to use my correct email address.  With iOS5 beta, I cannot enter either my .gmail or.me accounts under "You can be reached for messages at:" as I get an error stating: Unable to verify email because it is already in use."
How can I remedy this issue and assign my .gmail account to my Apple ID?

I just spoke with a technician at Apple.  I hsven't been able to verify because the wife has the phone.  but he said all that you need to do is:
    1) Go to Settings --> iTunes Store and login with your Apple ID and pwd
    2) Go to Settings --> iCloud and login with your Apple ID and pwd
seems that the phone requires you to login to the store first...
