Shared Var in Cross-Tab Design
Post Author: bkormoski

I have a cross-tab design that requires me to used shared var from a subreport. The SV formulas are not in my available fields in cross-tab wizard. What other choices are there?
I am creating a summary financial statement that requires information from multi tables - because they are not directly related I am creating SV's to get the info I need. Any ideas welcome. THANKs

I'm having a similar problem. I've created two variables in the main report
PLACE:
WhilePrintingRecords;Shared StringVar VPNum;VPNum
VENDPROD:
WhilePrintingRecords;{@Place}
I can insert VENDPROD into my cross-tab but the field is blank. On the details line, boty PLACE and VENDPROD display the correct (string) values. I've placed the Cross-Tab in both the Report Header and Report Footer sections and the VENDPROD field is always blank in the cross-tab. What am I doing wrong?
Thank you,

Cross tab design : x position based on number of columns
Hello everybody,
In my report, I have a group section for the country.
For each country and in the group header, I have 2 cross tab.
They have always the same number of columns (columns is period).
But 2 country could have different number of periods.
I need to have the 2d cross tab just near the 1st (right side) so I want to change x position of the 2d cross tab depending of the number of period.
I have try to use GetNumColumns but it doesn't work (always not supported), this is the same for other grid value function.
I'm not sure to understand why ...
So I have tried to calculate the number of row , using another group (period), but I can't summarize in a header.
I'm a little bit lost and need some new idea...
For information, my reports are based on a simple mysql DB.
Thankshello, i see that no one has responded to your forum post...is this still an issue?
in the Section Expert for the section where the cross-tabs are sitting, there is a Relative Positions checkbox wherein the cross-tabs will stay in a relative x postion to each other.
e.g. if you are in design mode and the cross-tabs are 1/2 inch from each other, when previewed, the 2nd cross-tab will start 1/2 inch after the 1st one stops.
cheers,

Hi to all,
I add a table,fieldobjects dynamically during runtime
by program to crystal report, now all the records are
displaying in this model
HeaderText1 HeaderText2
*Data1 Data2
*Data2 Data2
Now i want to show in this model
HeaderText1 Data1 HeaderText2 Data1
HeaderText1 Data2 HeaderText2 Data2
HeaderText1 Data3 HeaderText2 Data3
HeaderText1 Data4 HeaderText2 Data4
I think this is possible in CrossTab but i dont know how to
use it. Experts please tell me my thought is right then tell me
how to use it? or give me any solutions
Softwares i'm using Crystal Report 11.5, Visual Studio2005-C#,Asp.Net and SQL Server 2005
Thanks in advanceUnfortunately creating a Crosstab directly through the SDK's available for .NET is not possible. You may be able to create a similar functionality by creating formulas that append information to a database field then inserting the formula onto the report.]
I would suggest reviewing our RAS Report creation api samples available [here|https://boc.sdn.sap.com/samples/84/1194] -
Pass a shared variable from a sub-report into cross-tab
Hello everyone!
I need to pass a calculated value in a shared variable from a sub-report into a croos-tab in the Group footer of the main report. When I place this variable in the group footer I can see the value, when I use this variable in the Cross-tab, it is 0.
In the Sub Report:
whileprintingrecords;
shared numberVar Total_SF;
Total_SF:= calculation.
In the Main report:
whileprintingrecords;
shared numberVar Total_SF;
In the Cross-Tab I am using the above formula from the main report.
Do you guys know what I need to do for this to work?
Thank you,
T.Hey Tat,
I have learned to avoid passing shared variable from sub reports back to main reports. You just always seem to run into issues with execution order.
Personally, I try to create a shell report and add sub reports, calculating the values I need in the first sub report and pass the values to subsequent sub reports using shared variables. I'd recommend thinking about arranging your reports like this during your design time. It has saved me some headaches. -

then {@CapacityTeamCount} * SatHrsI don't use CR cross tabs as a matter of preference so I can't tell you if the shared variables are having an impact on their availability in the cross tab dialog or how to make the necessary adjustments...
I can, however, tell you that you don't need a cross tab for what you are trying to do. All you need to do is split all of the IF formulas in to their own formulas.
This will place each day in it's own column.
Now... you'll notice that there's a lot white space and nothing's aggregated... Not to worry, it's easy to fix.
Just create a grouping on which ever field you were going to use as "rows" in the cross tab... insert SUM totals in the group header... and hide the details.
Now you have created your own manual cross tab, without using CR's cross tab object.

Visual studio cross tab report design problem
I have visual studio 2008 and its default crystal reports.
I have created a cross tab report that has a lot of columns and only 3 rows.
So the total number of pages that get printed are 34. (with 12 columns at the top of each page since the xtab is in report header).
My client wants me to utilize the space left at the bottom of the page by having 12 columns at the top and 12 columns at the bottom of the page.
I don't know how this can be achieved.
If the problem is not clear then let me know I'll try to explain more.
I am on a deadline here so please help me.Hello,
I suggest you also search Forums, there are multiple posting on how to add multiple Xtabs.
This is a public area for all to use and not a case management system. If you are in a hurry I suggest you contact Support after purchasing a support incident and have a dedicated Engineer help you directly. You can get one from this link:

You need to put your title in the page header if you want it to appear on every page. The report header only displays once per report. -
How to add an image or static text in the header of EACH page of a cross-Tab report
Post Author: rtutus

Hi, I use Crustal 11.0.
I have a cross Tab. I display the items on the left column and the months horizontally, the items are grouped by category field. The values are the sum of quantities are displayed for each month. Like this:
Items Jan Feb March .....................Total
Category 1
Item11 val11 Val12 Val13 Total values
Item12 val21 Val22 Val23 Total values
Item13 val31 Val32 Val33 Total values
Category 2
Item21 val11 Val12 Val13 Total values
Item22 val21 Val22 Val23 Total values
Item23 val31 Val32 Val33 Total values
Category 3
Item31 val11 Val12 Val13 Total values
Item32 val21 Val22 Val23 Total values
Item33 val31 Val32 Val33 Total values
The problem, I want to add a page header for each page of the report.
When Crystal reports first displays my cross-tab in the designer, CR displays the cross tab in the Report header section. I d like to add text or image for each page and not only at the begining of my Cross-Tab.
If I just add an image or text at the top of the report designer, which is my report header, I get the image or text only on the begining of the 1st page of my report but never in the other following pages.
If I try to work around the problem and move the cross Tab to a group section instead, and then put the Image in the group header, I get what I want, but the problem is that:
The columns header: Jan, February....December are displayed for each group of my report and not only in the beginning of the report. I get something like this:
Items Jan Feb March .....................Total
Category 1
Item11 val11 Val12 Val13 Total values
Item12 val21 Val22 Val23 Total values
Item13 val31 Val32 Val33 Total values
Items Jan Feb March .....................Total
Category 2
Item21 val11 Val12 Val13 Total values
Item22 val21 Val22 Val23 Total values
Item23 val31 Val32 Val33 Total values
Items Jan Feb March .....................Total
Category 3
Item31 val11 Val12 Val13 Total values
Item32 val21 Val22 Val23 Total values
Item33 val31 Val32 Val33 Total values
You see the months get duplicated. Any way, my real need is to add an image or text in the header of EACH page of a cross-Tab report.
Thanks a lot for your help.Hi Divya,
you could do for example in the wdDoInit() of the view
wdContext.currentContextElement().setPicture("picture.gif");
Now you assign this context variable to the Tab using the Tab_header's imageSource-Property. When you click on its value column, you see a button with three dots on it. If you click on this button, you will get all context nodes and attributes for this View. Usable variables are clearly marked, you now choose the one named Picture or what ever name you prefer to use. But it must correspond to the one set in the wdDoInit.
I think setting a picture (not necessarily for the tab-page) is done in one of the excellent tutorials. If you are a newcomer I strongly recommend doing some of the tutorials. I have learned tremendously from them.
Hope this helped

Hide Column in Cross Tab Report
Hi guys,
I have an issue with the Cross Tab in CR2008.
I'm using 2 columns to calculate an other column, but these 2 columns should not be displayed in the report.
I tried to suppress the column but it still shows a white space.
I tried to change the column width, but it cant get it smaller then 0,113.
Can anyone tell me how to set the column width smaller using a formula or how to suppress the whole column.
Thanks in advance.
WilliamHi William,
Instead of using all 3 columns in the crosstab, just drop your main columnn on.
In the Design window, not the Crosstab Experrt, right-click the summary field and select Format Field.
In the Common Tab, open the formula for Display String.
Now you can take the value of your summary using the CurrentFieldValue and make your total. You may need to summarize the supporting numbers to calculate properly but it should work here properly.
I've used this for things like running totals and repeating values between rows.
NOTE: This formula only returns a string so make sure you format your final value as a string.
Good luck,

Expecting Answers.....Thanks...Hello Jebin
I recommend to post this query to the [Crystal Reports Design|SAP Crystal Reports; forum.
This forum is dedicated to topics related to the creation and design of Crystal Report documents. This includes topics such as database connectivity, parameters and parameter prompting, report formulas, record selection formulas, charting, sorting, grouping, totaling, printing, and exporting but also installation and registering.
It is monitored by qualified technicians and you will get a faster response there.
Also, all Crystal Reports Design queries remain in one place and thus can be easily searched in one place.
Best regards,
Falk
