SharePoint 2007 Excel Web Access automatically Reload Wook

Greetings, thank you all for looking.  I would like to use the Excel Web Access web part in SharePoint 2007, but unfortunately I cannot get the data being displayed in teh web part to be current unless I physically select
actions/reload workbook.  I was hoping that someone can provide me with a quick fix for this issue.  I do not have the ability to install any customized web parts but I do have access to SharePoint Designer and I do have Full Conrtol
of the site.
Thank you again for looking at my post.

Hi h0mely,
I would suggest you the following thread:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/f54f2f8f-19a0-4253-a3f0-fd4b9729ded1/refresh-data-in-excel-web-access
Make sure the data connection library is added to trusted location.
If you are using NTML for authentication, use SSO or None for the data connections excel serviced authentication settings, if Kerberos, make sure it is configured correct.
Thanks,
Qiao Wei

    Hi Alan,
O365 SharePoint is hosted on the Microsoft cloud, we cannot check what may cause Excel oData query/refresh very slow, I would recommend you post this issue in our dedicated O365 forum for a better assistance. If the issue is related to O365 SharePoint
    server side, there may involve
O365 back end support engineer to look into this issue.

    Hi Vivek,
You tried almost all possible ootb way to achive your goal, but contact inside excel file and browser compatibility restrict you to adjust height and width using web part properties.
You can try below article and include that script to fix this

    Hi Tracy,
Have you changed something on your SharePoint 2007 environment recently before this issue occurred?
This issue may be related to Alternate Access Mappings settings like the following similar post, if you have configured AAM, you can check if this issue happened to some URLs, if it's the case, please add the problematic URLs as a Publish URLs for the default
zone for your web application, and also add these URLs as trusted locations, then check results again.
If above doesn't work, please enable ULS log on verbose level to get more useful log errors which time are corresponding to the errors occur.

  • Excel web access web part Refresh

    Dear All,
Please let me adress my SharePoint issues to you.
    Current situation:
I currently have an excel file stored in one of my sharepoint libraries.
The excel file has two tabs.
The first tab contains data exported from a sharepoint list (with data connection)
The second tab has a customized table based on the first tab.
I created a page and added a Excel Web Access web part. The above mentioned excel file (tab2) is viewed in this web part.
    Problem:
Everytime I change something in my sharepoint list, the changes will not be viewed in the web part. The changes will only view when I open the excel file in the library first, and then save it.
    Question:
Is there a way I can refresh the data automatically, or manually without having to leave the page of the web part?
If anyone has a solution please let me know, thank you for your help!
    Bob

you can configure automatic data refresh.  fairly simple.  this article is for SQL data source, but the same process applies across the board.

  • Excel web access: Parameters in external data sources not supported???

I have a SharePoint 2013 site with Excel services.
The site itself has a Current User Filter Web Part which gives filter value [userID] to a Excel web access -web part.
In the Excel itself I have a named area(UserIDfromSharePoint) defined as a parameter.
This parameter is being used in a Microsoft Query into an SQL database table:
Select * from [MyTable] where UserID = ?
The question mark is set as a parameter to the named area UserIDfromSharePoint.
When I set the Excel Web Access -web part to show my workbook, I get the following error:
"We're sorry. We can't open the workbook in the browser because it uses these unsupported features: • PivotTable reports that are set to refresh
when the item in a report filter changes, or external data ranges (also called query tables)
    that use parameters"
    Is this really true???!??
If I have understood correctly, this has been an issue since the dawn of SharePoints Excel web services.
Does Microsoft really in this age of big data assume that all the SQL queries should be unfiltered or static?
My table has over 3M rows, so it is not possible to bring the whole dataset into excel and filter there. I'll have to say to the customer that we need to build a reporting table into which we'll aggregate the data first rather than querying the necessary
    information...

    Hi,
Do you mean that you have Office 2007 and Office 2010 both installed in you computer?
Based on my test, I copy a Access 2010 database into a computer only installed Offic 2007, then using Excel 2007 to import Access database data, no error occurred.
So double click the Access database to see whether the databased is opened with Access 2007 or Access 2010. If it is opened with Access 2010, then try to save it as Access 2007 to
    check the issue.

  • External Data Refresh failed - Unable to refresh list data in Excel Web Access WebPart

    Hi,
I have created a PivotChart in Excel workbook that fetches data from a SharePoint list using "OData Data Feed". When refreshing the connection in Excel 2013, the updated data is displayed in PivotChart. But when i upload the same to a SharePoint

    Hi,
For your issue, the possible reason is that the SharePoint environment does not have a PowerPivot for SharePoint server, or the SQL Server Analysis Services (PowerPivot) service is stopped.
Install PowerPivot for SharePoint or move the PowerPivot workbook to a SharePoint environment that has PowerPivot for SharePoint installed.
If the software is installed, verify that the SQL Server Analysis Services (PowerPivot) instance is running. Check Manage services on server in Central Administration. Also check the Services console application in Administrative Tools.

  • New option to open custom Excel content type in Excel Web Access

    Hi,
This question is specifically for Sharepoint Online if that affects the possible solution.
I would like a custom content type with Excel template to open up in Excel Web Access when a library's New>"My Content Type" option is chosen.  I have configured the content type (deriving from "Document"), pointed it to the spreadsheet
template I've uploaded, added the content type to the library and set the library to "Open documents in the browser".
However when I choose the new option for the content type it always opens it in the Excel desktop client.  If I then save the document to the library, then it does view and edit in Excel Web App after that.
Is there any way for the initial "New" Excel document to start editing in Excel Web App?
    Thanks in advance,
    Peter

Make sure Office 2011 is fully updated. It shouldn't have a problem opening those documents.
When I open a 97 - 2004 workbook, it states that it needs to be converted. That may be what is crashing on your copy of Office.
Have you tried creating a new account and see if you can open them there.

  • How to save edited data Workbook in Excel Web Access web part?

Hello All, I have one Workbook which is displayed on Excel Web Access web part in SharePoint 2013. If I edit data in workbook it is not getting saved. Am i missing anything here? please help.
    Thanks

    Hi,
We can click “OPEN IN EXCEL” to open and save the Excel file, then the edited data will be saved.
If you display a chart in Excel, we can create a InfoPath form to edit the excel Workbook, here is a blog for your reference:

  • Office 2010 & 2007 - Excel and Access File Locking Out On the Network With Multiple Users

This is also posted in the Office 2010 - IT Pro General Discussions, but was suggested to repost here, since a definitive answer was not found.
    Hi,
An issue that's happening is that Excel and Access files are locking on the network. We're currently using Office 2007 and 2010.
Here are some different scenarios that are happening:
When opening the file it is locked out by “User X” which is the person that has the file locked out and no one else can open the file.
When opening the file it is locked out by “User Y” which is NOT the actual person, but is locked out by “User X” and no one else can access the file.
When opening the file  it is locked out by “…another user” which is generic and no one else can access the file.
The two more common events are incident 1 and 2 with 3 happening the less common.
This message will continue until the sessions are closed through computer management on the file server.
The file server is running Windows Server 2003.
This does happen on both Windows XP and Windows 7 clients.
This does happen for users using Office 2007 and Office 2010.
There are two sets of Office 2010 Users when it comes to patches. Everyone has the most current patches with Office 2010 SP2 while anyone that has Microsoft Project 2010 is using all the current update before Office 2010 SP2.
All users that are using Office 2007 have all the current patches and service packs.
Another variable is that we have users that will leave a file open on the network for 3+ days and after a while it will lock the file out.
Also we have Shadow Copy that runs daily on the system which I'm not for sure if that impacts anything if a file is opening during that time.
Any ideas on how to mitigate the lock out issues would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Binary Process
Edit November 12, 2013: This issue can occur if and if not another person actually has the file open. If the person doesn't have the file open then there is a hung connection which needs to be disconnected by going to the Computer Management of the File
    server.

    Hi Binary,
I know that the description of the hotfix does not relate to the issue. The purpose is to install it for upgrading SMB related file.
A similar issue I encountered before:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/b7fcc59b-52d9-4a02-863a-1a529bcb8cb1/temp-doc-etc-files-dont-close-after-a-file-closes-this-causes-locked-files?forum=winserverfiles
It is resolved by upgrading SMB files so maybe it will help on your case.

  • Excel Services and Excel Web Access Web Part on O365 SharePoint...

I am using O365 E3 w/SharePoint and I have successfully created Pivot Charts via PowerPivot to query oData feeds from a couple of SharePoint lists. I was not able to refresh the data on O365 until I performed
    this operation.
I updated the data connections in the report to refresh when the report is opened (which runs when the page with a referenced chart is accessed), but now there is a "Query and Refresh Data" warning that appears when the page is loaded; poor UX.
I have read that there is a way to turn off this warning in SharePoint on-prem, but that doesn't help me with this nagging dialog box. I tried to move the report to a BI site in the collection and changed the report to use data connection files in the Data
Collection Library hoping for enough trust for this message to cease, but ... No joy.
Is there anything That I can do to keep the refresh on page load and lose the warning on O365? Maybe there is a Javascsript workaround someone can help with (I'm not much of a JS Dev).

    Hi,
According to your post, I have done a test in my SharePoint on-line and reappeared your issue.
If the issue occurred at SharePoint on- premise, go to SharePoint Central Administration > Application Management > Service Applications > Manage service applications > Excel Services
application > Trusted File Locations and click on the Address that contains the workbook. In the External Data section, under Warn on Refresh, uncheck Refresh warning enabled and click OK.
    Refer to the following link:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/excel_services__powerpivot_for_sharepoint_support_blog/archive/2013/10/22/excel-services-query-warning.aspx
Unfortunately, the feature to disable the ‘Data Refresh Warning’ is not available yet in SharePoint Online.
Because the option needs the SharePoint Central Admin level permission that is not opened to the public in Office 365 now.
    Refer to the following link:

  • To connect the Current User Filter with the Excel Web Access

    Hello,
I have uploaded an excel sheet which has data in Pivot table format into SharePoint site and then by using the current user filter I am trying to connect the filter (sharepoint profile user property) to a parameter in the excel sheet. I have defined one
of the pivot filter as the parameter. But all this, raises an error as below
"Unable to set one or more parameters. An error occurred while attempting to set one or more parameters in this workbook. As a result, none of the parameters has been set. Click OK to return to the workbook."
    please assist.
    Thanks & Regards
    Thank You
