Checked the Alternative access mapping on the provider server and it looks good.
what would cause this to happne and how can this be resolved
Satyam
Cameron,
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
Actually, it may not be related to compatibility. Let me explain in detail (As below)
Client has 2 different environments SharePoint 2010 and SharePoint 2013.
On SharePoint 2010 they have the web application-Site collections, however for My sites they use SharePoint 2013, where the trust (Root certificate and the STS ) was shared... Making the SP2010
as the consumer and SP 2013 as the provider.
When a user from SharePoint 2010, click on my profile the user is then taken to this page "edituserprofile.aspx"
which still has the look and feel of sharepoint 2010, and under pictures when we choose the button "Choose Picture" we get the error message with the corelation ID, when checked the ULS logs we get the message (Mentioned in the first post and is
also mentioned below)
"Exception Unhandled exception caught during execution of Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.PageBase::ErrorHandler().
Exception information: Exception information: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: The Web application at http://my-sites/ could not be found. Verify that you have typed the URL correctly. If the URL should be serving existing content, the system administrator
may need to add a new request URL mapping to the intended application. "
I have checked the AAM and it looks good.
When the user clicks on my profile on SP2010 environment , the user must be diverted to the sp2013 environment to update his information...correct ?

Deploying Office 2013 through SCCM 2012 SP1 leaves Office 2010 Tools and Sharepoint behind
I apologize in advance, but I have searched similar topics to this, but I haven't seen an answer yet that describes where and how to accomplish this. I'm also a bit new to SCCM and I'm still finding the nuances.
Scenario: Running SCCM 2012 SP1. Office 2013 32bit is added as an application and deployed properly with an accompanied .msp file stored in the source folder. The configuration is to have Office
2010 uninstalled silently. The deployment runs flawless and the user doesn't know otherwise. Success in anyone's book, right?
Except... Office 2010 Tools and SharePoint Workspace 2010 are left over. Manual uninstallation is not an option. This is for hundreds of PC's in several global locations.
I've seen it hinted to write a script. That's fine I suppose, but what do I write, where do I store the script, and can I have SCCM2012 automatically run it before the installation of 2013?
Our favorite IT tool Google hasn't quite returned what I'm looking for. Does anyone here have ideas or perhaps have experienced a similar issue?
Thanks,1st, save the following content as a XML file on a server share, named as "config.xml".
<Configuration Product="ProPlus">
<Display Level="none" CompletionNotice="no" SuppressModal="yes" AcceptEula="yes" />
<Setting Id="SETUP_REBOOT" Value="Never" />
</Configuration>
Run the following script during or before the installation of Office 2013:
"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE14\Office Setup Controller\setup.exe" /uninstall ProPlus /config \\servershare\Config.xml
For more SCCM specific topics, we'd recommend you to visit the SCCM forums at:

Trying to link SharePoint 2010 Enterprise with SharePoint 2013 Search Server raises error
Hi,
I am currently working for a multinational who has SharePoint 2010 Enterprise Edition installed, 2 WFE SERVERS, 3 APP SERVERS, 1 DB SERVER. They also installed SharePoint 2013 Exterprise recently.
Microsoft have recently come in and set up the SharePoint 2013 Search Server to crawl content in SharePoint 2010 as the replacement search to SharePoint 2010 Search. So they have gone through process of certificates and permissions
setups I guess. I was told it was working, but recently failed. When I type in the search box on a web site for SharePoint 2010 I get the message:
The search request was unable to connect to the Search Service.
I checked the Event log and the Critical error (in Task Category:Timer) I get is the notorious:
The Execute method of job definition Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Administration.CrawlReportJobDefinition (ID fa882704-80d9-415b-9b9d-eae5e9bdefd4) threw an exception. More information is included below.
The search service is not able to connect to the machine that hosts the administration
component. Verify that the administration component 'e9172a05-22ec-4904-9508-
e5431a180c2b' in search application 'Search_Service_Application' is in a good state and
try again.
I know administration component is the crawler. I am assuming this is permissions.
The SharePoint 2013 Search Server is picking up SharePoint 2010 site collections items fine i.e. The SharePoint 2013 search shows items from 2010 as expected.
On the SharePoint 2010 central admin box the search service enabled and running (checked with powershell). (SharePoint Server Search 14)
The Search Service id: e9172a05-22ec-4904-9508-e5432a180c2b
I also get the message in event log for gatherer on SharePoint 2010 CA and Search Server:
Could not access the Search database. A generic error occurred while trying to access the database to obtain
the schema version info.
Context: Application 'e9172a05-22ec-4904-9508-e5431a180c2b'
Details:
(0x80040e09)
Is this permissions to delete something from crawler??????
I would appreciate if someone could help on this. I have tried to be as concise as possible.
Thanks.
John.It was a case that someone had fiddled with the Service App Associations. Hadn't ticked SharePoint 2013 search. Was still point at 2010. Thanks.
The SharePoint 2013 Search works correctly for SharePoint 2010.
Can someone confirm that the Search Service Application on SharePoint 2010 still needs to exist and hence SharePoint Server Search 14 Service still needs to be running? I am guessing it would as you search from 2010 interface not 2013. I am getting a critical
error in the Event Viewer:
CrawlReportJobDefinition (Id <SharePoint 2010 Crawler>)
The search service is not able to connect to the machine that hosts the administration component. Verify that the administration component <crawler id> in search application "Search Service Application" is in a good state and try
again.
I think this is related to the fact we have SharePoint 2013 doing the search instead of 2010.
Any ideas?
John. -
Hi,
I found a thread in this forum With an answere to a similiar question here:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/28bc1e27-4a65-4c61-9b3e-cb9dad17f779/office-web-apps-preview-sharepoint-2010-documents-in-sharepoint-2013-search-results?forum=sharepointsearch&prof=required
...With the answere:
"OWA uses an access token to talk to SharePoint 2013. It cannot use this when talking to 2010. In order to work with 2010, you have to create a custom display template that converts the file url to an openurl link. "
BUT...
may anyone give more information how to do this?
Links to articles? Links to description and samples?
jikHi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to preview documents from SharePoint 2010 in search results in SharePoint 2013.
Per my knowledge, the Office Web Apps is configured to work with SharePoint 2013, so it will not work with documents in SharePoint 2010.
I recommend to configure Office Web Apps to work with SharePoint 2010
and make sure that documents can be previewed in SharePoint 2010 using Office Web Apps to see if the documents can be previewed in SharePoint 2013 search result.

Best regards.

Office web Apps preview of SharePoint 2010 source in SharePoint 2013 search results
Hi Team,
We have crawled SharePoint 2010 source in SharePoint 2013 and able to get results successfully. Now our requirement is to show Office Web Apps previes of 2010 documents in 2013 search results.
Any guidance on this please.

Not able to open SharePoint 2010 Site in SharePoint Designer 2010
Hi all,
I have SharePoint 2010 Environment and when I try to open the site in SharePoint Designer with the regular URL (https://xyz.com)
some time i am getting error "'The server sent a response which SharePoint Designer could not parse. If you are trying to connect to a Microsoft SharePoint Foundation server, check with the server's administrator to make sure Microsoft
Foundation is installed properly" and some time its work fine and open the site without any issue... but when i try to open the site with the internal URL like (http://Servername:Port) it work perfectly.
Even i am not able to open the custom workflow in SharePoint designer whenever i am able to open the site with my regular URL (https://xyz.com) and getting error "Failed to load the configuration file for the workflow", but with
the Internal URL (http://Servername:Port) i am able to open that workflow without any issue.
Please suggest!!!Hi NaveenKSah,
According to your description, my understanding is that you got an error when you opened AAM url of a site with SharePoint 201o Designer.
Please try to add <remove verb="*" path="*.asmx" /> after <httpHandlers> in the site web.config file, compare the result.
Note: before changing the web.config file, please make a backup for the file.
More information, please refer to the link:
http://dishasharepointworld.blogspot.com/2010/08/server-sent-response-which-sharepoint_30.html
I hope this helps.
Thanks,

TechNet Community Support -
I have created a custom blog site definition using SharePoint 2010 blog site definition with Configuration ID 31 in onet.xml (new value). This was working fine for SharePoint 2010.
We created new SharePoint 2013 farm and deployed the all Custom solutions in
14/15 folders. After migrating the sites to SharePoint 2013 using Content DB approach, site created previously using my custom definition are working fine.
But after running site collection upgrade these sites stop working. When I post a comment then comments not getting listed on post detail page. However comments are getting added to Comments List but
PostTitle column of Comment is not getting populated.
Also, when we create a new site in SharePoint 2013 using my custom blog template then that is also not getting provisioned. default.aspx and look-up between post and comment list are not working.
If any one has faced such issue then please share your findings and any solution to fix this.
Thanks in Advance :)Hi ,
According to your description, my understanding is that the blog based on custom blog site definition didn’t work correctly after migrating custom blog site definition to SharePoint 2013.
If you customized the Onet.xml file in a previous version's site definition, you should modify some sections in the file to work in the current version, like <BaseTypes> and <ListTemplate> etc. More information, please refer
to the link below:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/aa543837(v=office.14).aspx
For that the PostTitle column of Comment is not getting populated, please try to modify the view, then compare the result.
I hope this helps.
Thanks,
Wendy

Sharepoint 2010 Workflow successful: Sharepoint 2013 Workflow UNsuccessful:
Observation 1
1. I created 2 workflows that write "completed" to the workflow history
a. 1 workflow uses sp2010 workflow manager
b. 1 workflow uses sp2013 workflow manager
2. sp2010 workflow works fine; it will start either manually or automatically (when a new item is created ) without issue; "completed' is written to the log as expected. Good.
3. sp2013 does not start automatically (when a new item is created ); when trying to start manually I get error message "Something went wrong. To try again, reload the page and then start the workflow." Which I do, but still fails.
Bad.
4.On Workflows.aspx I can see the links to start the 2 workflows manually.
a. When I hover over the sp2010 workflow link I can see something that look like this:
http://playground/sites/falcontt/_layouts/15/IniWrkflIP.aspx?List={ae95de8e-508b-4aa6-b4b6-490288e35e9f}&ID=53&ItemGuid={697E4218-D889-4FB8-A27B-D188F5D93250}&TemplateID={199c3d86-89a8-4286-b285-37e2d2067b52}&Source=http%3A%2F%2Fplayground%2Fsites%2Ffalcontt%2FLists%2FTrouble%2520Tickets%2Fall%2520requests%2Easpx
b. But when I hover over the sp2013 workflow link I can see something that look like this:
javascript:StartWorkflow4('949cb889-9b46-4959-9673-842e60cc5a42', '53', '{697E4218-D889-4FB8-A27B-D188F5D93250}')
Should this link also look similar to the sp2010 workflow link? If so, do you have any idea why it is different?
Observation 2
In Sharepoint Designer 2013, when I goto Navigation -> Workflows and click on the 2010 workflow, I see a file listed under "Forms" that looks like this "sp2010 test workflow.xsn". By the way the name of the workflow happens
to be "sp2010 test workflow".
But when I goto Navigation -> Workflows and click on the 2013 workflow, I see a NO file listed under "Forms". Should I see "sp2013 test workflow.xsn" listed there? If yes, can you think of why it is not listed there?
I saved the workflow debug logs from Event Viewer but won't share that info here unless necessary, to avoid making things look more complicated than they have to be.
Thanks for any comments suggestions, tips, questions, anything, etc.
Thanks and have a great weekend.
GeorgeHi George,
First of all, I'd like to clarify that workflow manager is dedicated for SharePoint 2013 workflow platform. SharePoint 2010 workflow is integrated in SharePoint server, while 2013 workflow is based on a new platform named workflow manager server.
In SharePoint 2013 designer, 2010 workflow has forms while 2013 workflow doesn't have forms.
For this issue, I suspect there is something incorrect with workflow manager. From the error message "Something went wrong. To try again, reload the page and then start the workflow", please flush the DNS cache via executing
IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS, and restart workflow manager related services such as below, then recreate 2013 workflow to test the issue:

Cannot open Sharepoint 2010 task with Outlook 2013
Before I start, I have already gone through the "Unable to open Sharepoint 2010 task from any office application - cannot open new form (schema validation errors). I have tried all the fixes listed in that thread to no avail.
What I am wondering is if it there is something more complex happening because I have outlook 2013 but our SP server is 2010.
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to make this work? I have tried everything that I have found and a lot more to try and resolve this, have been working on and off on this problem for more than 6 months. Any help would be appreciated.Hi Matt,
According to your description, the task cannot be open in Outlook 2013.
The issue may be with any Multiple lines of text fields in Enhanced Rich text type in the SharePoint 2010 Task List or the associated task list for the workflow.
I recommend to check for any Multiple lines of text fields(such as Description field) in the SharePoint 2010 Task List or the associated task list for the workflow, and change them to Plain text or Rich text instead.
More information are provided in the link below:
http://mysharepointkb.blogspot.in/2012/11/cannot-open-sharepoint-2010-approval.html
If it cannot work, could you please provide more information in the ULS log?
Please go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14 to get the log.
Best regards.
Thanks -
SharePoint 2010 Form from Access 2013
Hello,
I am curious if I can do the following. I have an Access 2013 database with tables, forms, queries, and macros. To get to the gist of this I want to be able to use these forums on SharePoint 2010 by letting users enter their information in a friendly way
and than having that information stored in the table. I know this recently became popular in SharePoint 2013 but would like to know if there is a way to get this done in SharePoint 2010.
Any ideas?
Thank youFirstly, stsadm is depreciated and shouldn't be used if possible. The cmdlet you want to try is:

SharePoint 2010 backup and restore to test SharePoint environment - testing Disaster recovery
We have a production SharePoint 2010 environment with one Web/App server and one SQL server.
We have a test SharePoint 2010 environment with one server (Sharepoint server and SQL server) and one AD (domain is different from prod environment).
Servers are Windows 2008 R2 and SQL 2008 R2.
Versions are the same on prod and test servers.
We need to setup a test environment with the exact setup as production - we want to try Disaster recovery.
We have performed backup of farm from PROD and we wanted to restore it on our new server in test environment.Backup completed successfully with no errors.
We have tried to restore the whole farm from that backup on test environment using Central administration, but we got message - restore failed with errors.
We choosed NEW CONFIGURATION option during restore, and we set new database names...
Some of the errors are:

Aborted due to error in another component.
Could you please help us to resolve these issues?I'd totally agree with this. Full fledged functionality isn't the aim of DR, getting the functional parts of your platform back-up before too much time and money is lost.
Anything I can add would be a repeat of what Jesper has wisely said but I would very much encourage you to look at these two resources: -

Office Web Apps - Preview Sharepoint 2010 documents in Sharepoint 2013 Search Results
Hi,
We have a Sharepoint 2013 search site collection. The content sources for the Search service application includes some Sharepoint 2010 sites. We also have Office Web Apps server deployed. When searching for documents, the OWA preview works for all the document
in local sharepoint 2013 farm. However document preview doesn't work for documents in the sharepoint 2010 farm.
Any idea why this happens?

MuthuCould you please elaborate more on open url / please give us some syntax how to use that is display template?
When we use open url do we still need to install office webapps in the 2010 environment? -
Hi,
I am doing development in sharepoint 2010 and facing this very weird problem.
If I create a site page with the sharepoint look and feel for that site and try to save the site page,i am getting this error:**"Content in the embedded form may be changed by the the server to remove unsafe content.Do you want to reload your page to see
the results of the save? "** and when i say reload, the server removes some parts of my page, e.g onclick event of html, asp buttons.
This error just comes for any sharepoint site page,e.g i took a copy of 'How To Read Library' page just edited the text part of taht page, and when i try to save this error again comes up.
However,if i create a simple aspx page with only htmltags like head body, then thr is no problem ,everything works great. But sharepoint look and feel pages are giving troubles while saving.
has anybody seen this earlier, what could be the reason for this?
ThanksI think the excerpt and link below is the why, but the page talks about server code and not javascript. I guessing that this is why blank pages work, but not wiki pages. Can anyone verify this?
The following are general rules for using server-side code on a site page.
If the page is uncustomized, server-side code is supported on the page.
If the page is customized, server-side code does not run, and the page does not render. This includes the code-behind for the page itself.
