SharePoint 2013 Powerpivot Add-in Install Configuration - Missing Parameters
Please verify below screen, it is missing two parameters as per the technet article -
Missing Parameters:
Passphrase: Enter a passphrase. If you are creating
a new SharePoint farm, the passphrase is used whenever you add a server or application to the SharePoint farm. If the farm already exists, enter the passphrase that allows you to add a server application to the farm.
PowerPivot Server for Excel Services: Type the name
of an Analysis Services SharePoint mode server. In a single-server deployment, it is the same as the database server. [ServerName]\powerpivot

I have downloaded add-in from

I am not sure what was missing so I uninstalled everything SharePoint and SQL instances.
I followed below procedure and it worked. I am listing down the steps for your benefit and verification:
1. SQL Server Suite Installation
On "SQL Server Installation Center",
click "Installation > New SQL Server stand-alone installation or add features to an existing installation".
Refer to the image for selected features:
2. Power Pivot Feature Installation on SQL Server:
Setup role "SQL Server PowerPivot for SharePoint"
I followed
3. SharePoint Installation:
a. Install ADOMD.NET
SQL Server 2008 R2 Analysis Services ADOMD.NET

c. Install using "Complete - User for Production environments." Option
here you provide a phrase and make a note of it for powerpivot

configuring App Service on-Premise SharePoint 2013.
difficulty in AppDomain-which I am deploying both Certificates on same server VM - but the urls are not working even for the original websites.
I having two wild Card certificates.
1st-which is domain ( contoso.com ) and
2nd-subdomain ( apps.contoso.com)
Can any suggestion /-What changes you did in order to browse the issue
1. You need to have IISbinding with URL and select certificate for both web applications
2. Update the proper URL in AAM
3. Make sure all certificate and its sub certificates are installed on all SP servers
4. Check if you are able to ping the URL. Perform a NSlookup as well

Excel 2013 PowerPivot add-in crashes
Running into a serious problem with little help on solving the issue. Any time I try doing anything with DAX Excel crashes and gives me the following error:

Things I've tried:
Office Repair; Quick and Online
'Fix It' application; re-install Office 365 ProPlus
Renaming OS.DLL to OS.DLL.Old; Restarting application
Restart computerI tried clean boot, too. That did not seem to fix the issue.
After many failed attempts repairing the issue, I finally figured out something that works.
Start Excel in Safe Mode ( run: excel \safemode)
Alt - F11 (opens VBA editor)
Tools > references
Un-checked the following:
OLE Automation
Microsoft Office 15.0 Object Library
'Save As'
Re-open workbook normal
I've not had the errors reappear. Thoughts are that the workbook was corrupted and the add-in was affected.

SharePoint 2013 - PowerPivot - The following connections failed to refresh.
Thanks for taking a look. I have tried countless blogs and other forum posts and can't seem to resolve this.
I am working on SP2013 with SQL Server 2012 in a single farm environment. My domain is on another VM.
I am using interactive refresh. (Click Data > Refresh All Connections) from the PP Workbook in SharePoint.
The connection is embedded.
I am getting the error "We were unable to refresh one or more data connections in this workbook. The following connections failed to refresh: (Name of my connection). The connection is using windows authentication
What I have tried:
I have checked ULS Logs, nothing showing up unfortunately.
I checked local system messages on server, nothing there.
I changed both the PowerPivot and Excel Services application pools to run under Domain\Administrator
I changed both the PowerPivot and Excel Services unattended accounts to run under Domain\Administrator
Ran IISReset command from windows powershell.
Restarted SSAS Services
Verified the Server was registered in Excel Services (Data Model Settings)
Verified that data refresh was enabled on the PowerPivot workbook at the site collection level.
In central administration I set the business hours to 6am - 8am for data refresh so this would not be an issue.
I verified that the Secure Store Service is started in central administration
I have also ran SQL Server Profiler and all I see is this error, i'm not even sure it's related. Searching the error hasn't helped:
"The commit or rollback request cannot be completed because there is no active transaction in this session."
I verified that Claims to Windows Token Service is running in central administration.
I've tried editing the workbook connection to use specified accounts as well. When I do that I get the following error:
An error occurred while accessing application id SP2013\Administrator from the Secure Store Service. The following connections failed to refresh: (My connection name).

In our java web application trying establish the connection for sharePoint 2013
using Windows claims authentication (NTLM ), I am getting error message "Server was unable to process request. ---> Site is not configured for Claims Forms Authentication". But In the Sharepoint 2013 our Site is is configured for Windows

This issue is always caused that you had missed FBA configuration in web config of your web application.

One drive (sky drive) for sharepoint 2013

We have Sharepoint 2013 and would like to use the sky drive (one drive)..
We don't use Office 2013, but Office 2010
I found the link to the download of onedrive.
The download name was:

I am trying to send the one drive out to all our computers at our business to be used with Sharepoint 2013.
The downloaded install doesn't appear to be a standalone install. I opened up a command line.
put Setup.x86.en-us_GrooveRetail_3V9N8-W93CC-FQPB8-Y9WVF-TVGJ3_TX_PR.exe /?
This gives the following output.

I tried the Setup.x86.en-us_GrooveRetail_3V9N8-W93CC-FQPB8-Y9WVF-TVGJ3_TX_PR.exe /download
This supposedly will download files needed to create an office16 installation source. I don't want an office16 installation source, but I want the onedrive stanalone installer.
The command didn't download any files.
So does anyone know how to deploy the onedrive to multiple computers. Make note we don't have office 2013 any reference to trying to create a custom install for it useless because we don't have the product.

you will need to use the setup.exe (found in the Office2013 ISO) - you can't just use the MSI for groove (ODfB).
You will need to create a customisation of the Office2013 (either MSPfile, or config.xml), to set the feature states as you wish (i.e. ODfB=runfrommycomputer(Local), and everything else=notavailable(Absent))

Access Database in sharepoint 2013
We have a new server here at work. One of the virtual servers on this server has an installation of sharepoint 2013. I have installed and configured many previous installations of sharepoint, 2013 is quite the different animal and I am working
through trying to figure out how to set it up and use if for our company.
A fellow employee was setting up an access 2013 database of our staff who does all of our construction. We were successfully able to publish this access database to the sharepoint server from with in the Access 2013 environment.
I am in sharepoint and I don't see the list that represents the access database. Am I missing something here on how to make it display?When you publish a web database, Access Services creates a SharePoint site that contains the database. All of the database objects
and data move to SharePoint lists in that site.

SharePoint 2013 Problem with automatic detection of Site language - default language
Hi all,
we have a SiteCollection that was created with 'english' as
default language.
On our SharePoint 2013 environment we have installed the 'german' and 'french' language pack. Both languages are activated as alternative languages on that SiteCollection.
But the automatic language detection is not working properly for us.
Problem description:
User Browser language = German --> Site language = German
If you now change the Browser language to 'Italian' then we would expect that the site will be displayed in 'English' because the 'Italian' language pack is not installed and the SiteCollection default language was set to 'English'...
But the Site will be not displayed in 'English' it will keep the last language in this case 'German'...
Another example: If you change the browser language to 'French' the whole Site is displayed in French. If you try to switch now to 'Italian' then the Site will be still displayed in 'French' instead of 'English'...
Any ideas what could cause this problem?

Here is the order of the language preference showing to users with different settings
For your issue it may be due to the IE data cache, please clear all the IE data cache, then reopen the IE browser see if it displays the English language as expected.

PowerPivot Add-In needed by End User?
All.
A very simple question for somebody who knows what they are doing.
I've created several spreadsheets in Excel 2010 which utilize the PowerPivot add-in.
My worksheets contain several PivotTables based on my PowerPivot Data
The original data is imported from an SQL table.
These spreadsheets are uploaded to a SharePoint (2010) PowerPivot Gallery.
They refresh overnight successfully.
Viewing the pivot table in a web page works fine i.e. the data is up-to-date, filters work etc.
If an end user opens up a spreadsheet in Excel, via the ribbon They receive multiple errors:
"Initialization of hte data source failed"
"A PivotTable cube function or slicer using connection "XXX" failed to refresh the data."
I turned off the open on refresh option - based on another MS article.
The only way I could remove the errors all together was to install the PowerPivot add-in on the end users pc.
Alternatively I could hide the option to open in Excel in SP - Yet NOT being able to open/read in Excel might be too big a cultural shift
Am I correct in my assumption, that to view a SP PowerPivot Excel spreadsheet in Excel natively, the person viewing the spreadsheet must have the PowerPivot add-in installed?
If so, will somebody explain in simple terms, why?
That way I can easily explain why I need to install the add-in a lots of PCs.

It seems it was a know issue, I found the following information:
Assume that you have a pivot table that groups some items in a workbook. The pivot table is connected to a server whose cube was modified since the last time that the pivot table was refreshed. When you update the workbook in Excel 2010, you receive the
following error message:
A PivotTable, cube function or slicer using connection <var>Server name</var> has failed to refresh. Continue to refresh all?

Based on your formula, I could reproduce this issue in my SharePoint 2013 without any CUs.
Then I created a new column using other types not Date&Time, add the formula =IF(ISBLANK([New Column]),"Employee","ExEmployee"), there is no duplicate values when filtering the calculated column. It seems that this issue only
happens when judging Date&Time column in a calculated column.
I tested in my SharePoint Online, and found I could not reproduce this issue on SharePoint Online.
So, for your issue, please check whether you install any CUs
for your SharePoint 2013. And please install the latest CU for SharePoint 2013.

I completed SharePoint 2013 preview server installation and configuration. When I put a YouTube link on my Newsfeeds it does not show the preview as it shows in Office 365 Preview.

Thanks....Has Distributed Cache service been started in the machine SharePoint is running on? If not, it must be started before it provisions feeds. The following steps to start Distributed Cache service:
Open Central Administration, click Application Management category.
In Service Application section, click Manage Services on Server.
On the Services on Server page, start Distributed Cache service.
Or use PowerShell script:
$instanceName ="SPDistributedCacheService Name=AppFabricCachingService"
$serviceInstance = Get-SPServiceInstance | ? {($_.service.tostring()) -eq $instanceName -and ($_.server.name) -eq $env:computername}
$serviceInstance.Provision()
As far as I know feeds rely on
Distributed Cache to store data for very fast retrieval across all entities.

According to your post, my understanding is that after Installation of SP1 for SharePoint 2013, you saw a new button Office 365.
As part of the SharePoint 2013 Service Pack 1, Microsoft has starting to provide some way to implement a sort of hybrid mode – as we can already have with Exchange – with Office 365.
A new link/option shown in the Quick Launch menu on the left or in the Central Administration home page.
After clicking the Office 365, the two links provide you a way to configure a first level integration with your Office 365 to use Yammer (as this now included on Office 365 Enterprise plans) or OneDrive for Business on Office 365.
