SharePoint Drive Integration of Drives

How would I go about integrating an unused drive on my SharePoint server into my current farm (on the same server)?

As with Hemendra, I'd ask for further clarification.  The root hive directories that underpin SharePoint can't be moved easily (if at all), but what you can do (if this is what you mean) is use other drives to store log files, which are the normal
offenders for consuming space on the default drive.

  • SSRS 2008 R2 SharePoint 2010 integration error?

Hi, I have SSRS 2008 R2 in SharePoint 2010 integration mode. I'm getting kind of strange error with below scenario:
    1) SSRS report has data-source to SQL Server 2008 R2 database store procedure.
    2) SQL Server procedure execute SELECT query using linked server to Oracle database (Oracle driver).
    3) SSRS report has parameter call 'Customer' which allows user to filter the data. This customer report parameter drop-down is also get execute SQL store procedure and get data from Oracle linked server.
Oracle database  <---------> SQL Server 2008 R2 (SQL procedure & linked server to Ora) <-----> SharePoint SSRS Report
Problem :  When user select one customer from parameter drop-down and click 'Apply' to render report it works. But if user change report parameter then it got error. This error is relate to can't execute main SQL procedure Oracle package to linked server.
Not sure why this happening when user select new parameter value and got this error? Interesting enough, I replicate scenario using Visual Studio 2008 and run report with different values by selecting customer parameter and it works perfectly fine! Not sure
why it doesn't work on SSRS report on SharePoint? FYI - all properties to SQL linked server and report data-source are set to default values.
Any idea? like SharePoint do some-sort of caching report data-source or any other hints where things going wrong? Thanks.

    Hi KM,
    Thanks for your post.
It seems a little strange. Do you mean the reports is working fine with parameter change behavior in report design tool(Visual Studio 2008), however, when you publish this report from design tool to Reporting services SharePoint site, it works with only
default parameter values, once you change the parameter value, you would encounte the error “can't execute main SQL procedure Oracle package to linked server”? If so, I would suggest you to create a SQL Agent job  on your SQL Server engine to timely synchronous
data from Oracle database to SQL Server Database, and then you can create report to retrieve the relevant data from SQL Server table objects.

  • Adding a custom rendering extension to SQL Server Reporting Services 2012 for SharePoint 2010 integrated mode

We are attempting to add OfficeWriter report rendering extensions for SSRS 2012 in SharePoint (2010) integrated mode through powershell. The documentation for “New-SPRSExtension” is rather
sparse and we have not found any clear examples on the internet. With SSRS 2012 in native mode, we make the following two changes to the config files:
We add the following report rendering extension declaration to
    RSReportServer.config:
    <Configuration>

What would be the equivalent syntax for “New-SPRSExtension” to do the above for SSRS 2012 in SharePoint (2010) integrated mode?
Alison Bird SoftArtisans Technical Services www.softartisans.com

    Hi Alison,
Unlike the deployment of other custom extensions such as custom delivery extension and data processing extension, it is not necessary to add a code group for the custom assembly that grants FullTrust permission for the extension during the deployment of
custom rendering extension. If you have copy the custom assembly to the %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS11.<InstanceName>\Reporting Services\ReportServer\Bin folder, and modify the RSreportserver.config file to add the extention entry properly,
please open the SSRS Service Application created on the SharePoint and verify that your extension is included in the list of available export types for a report.

  • Installing SharePoint 2007 Integration Kit on BO XI R2 SP5

    Hi there,
We are trying to install sharepoint 2007 integration kit but keep getting the error message:
"SP3 patch is required to install the sharepoint 2007 integration kit"
    Our setup...
SharePoint 2007 running on its own Windows 2003 server
BusinessBojects Enterprise XI Release 2 Support Pack 5 running on its own Windows 2003 server
We installed the .Net SDK and Web Componet Adapter (WCA) of BusinessBojects Enterprise XI Release 2 Support Pack 5 on our SharePoint server
Now, both versions of .Net SDK and WCA are the same on BO and SharePoint as required
However after two attempts of installing the PIK we still get the message
"SP3 patch is required to install the sharepoint 2007 integration kit"
Does anyone know what is requried here?
    Thanks,
    Bernard.

    Hi Amit,
Thanks for your response. I am not 100% sure of the answer to question 1 as we had someone external patrhing our servers and attempting to install the PIK. But I have detailed below the Crystal related products that were put onto the SharePoint server:
    1)
    Crystal Reports Server XI
Crystal Reports Server XI R2 Service Pack 2
Crystal Reports Server XI R2 Service Pack 5
Crystal Reports Server XI Release 2 .NET 2005 Server
I think he could have selected just the .NET SDK and WCA components from the main install and got to SP5 that way.
    2) The PIK I believe is to be SP2 from looking at the setup.ini file

  • Slow access to mapped Sharepoint drive

    Hi there.
One of our clients is running SBS 2008 with Sharepoint installed as per default settings. Everything appears to work normally on a day to day basis.
In order to manipulate files they have a number of mapped drives which lead to particular documents libraries. This allows them to for example, attach a document to an email (which you can't do through the normal SharePoint web interface. Likewise they save
accounts documents (from Sage) straight to these folders.
The issue is that from time to time these mapped drives respond very slowly ie normal access to the map drive would be a second or two and then for a period of a day or so drive access may reduce to 10 or 20 seconds. This will continue for a day or so and
then go away. What is also strange is that this slowness doesnt effect all users at the same time ie one user may get normal access while another grinds to a halt. It doesnt appear to be a network issue as other network services appear to work fine during
these slow downs ie acess to a normal mapped folder on the server.
I cant see anything obviously wrong (error logs etc) but im not really sure where to go with this one.

  • Seeing sharepoint drive in windows explorer

I have a records management client who wish to redo their file plan. Currently they have a sharepoint subsite with each top level folder set up as a separate library ( not sure why they did it this way). They can see each of these libraries in windows exporer.
This is not using explorer view but actually going to windows explorer.
They do not have the sharepoint ribbon showing and have never seen this and do not know that it exists.
After working out the new classification scheme I now need to set it up in Sharepoint in exactly the way that the old one is. They do not want any changes.
I have created the Subsite and the libraries, but don't know how to make this new subsite and 9 libraries appear in their windows explorer.
Their IT people (who are not particularly familiar with the workings of sharepoint) say they need a sharepoint guru to come in and make connections at the back end. Does this sound right? It sounds wrong to me. It should be easy to do if you just know how
    to do it.
I also have to make the left hand side of the screen where the quicklaunch area and the hierarchy is to look the same ie. nothing at all in there except their 9 libraries, that will expand in the same way that windows explorer does.
They don't really need sharepoint as they don't use any of the sharepoint functionality and don't want to, but that is what they are using and wish to continue with as they also have a separate subsite for their library.
    Any advice greatfully received.

That does seem to be what they wanted.  I have done it and we can see all the folders there now.  I am still puzzled by the person who originally set this all up for them making each top level folder a separate library because to change library
settings you have to do it 10 times instead of once.
Is it correct that if I open a document in sharepoint (with major versioning enabled) and save it perhaps 5 times as I work on it, that it will save the document as 5 separate documents even though we only see the latest and thus taking up a lot of hard
disc space.  Compared with checking out the document, working on it locally and then checking it in at which time it would create a new version and in this case there would only be 2 versions taking up hard disc space.
Thank you both very much for responding. Much appreciated.

  • AD security group issues in SharePoint 2013 Integrated Mode

    Hello,
Sorry if this is the wrong forum, I'm not sure if this is a SharePoint issue or a Reporting Services configuration issue (or if it should be in a SharePoint forum regardless).
I have SSRS2012 on SharePoint 2013 in integrated mode. We are doing item level permissions, which means we have an AD security group Reports-All with
Read to the Reports document library, then each actual report has unique permissions. We have a report with the ProjectManagers AD
security group on it with Read (plus some other stuff to let them manage subscriptions), and another AD security group ProjectUsers with
just Read access so they can open the reports. The data source used by this report has the AD security group I mentioned before, Reports-All,
    with Read.
At a SharePoint level, things appear to work. When a user in ProjectManagers or ProjectUsers browses
to the library, they see only the 3 reports that those two security groups have permission to see (out of a lot more in the library). That means SharePoint is reading those security group memberships correctly as far as I can tell.
The issue is when a user in ProjectManagers or ProjectUsers clicks
on a report, they get a reporting server based error message, and the ULS logs have an error specific to the user trying to run the report.
Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.AccessDeniedException: The permissions granted to user 'MyDomain\MyUser' are insufficient for performing this operation. (Fault Detail is equal to Microsoft.ReportingServices.ServiceContract.RsExceptionInfo)
If I add that specific user with Read permissions to the report and the data source, they are then able to run the report without errors. It seems like some Report Server component is not liking the fact that I'm using security groups.
Has anyone seen this behavior with AD security groups? Any ideas on why my environment does not want to work properly with those even though AD security groups are working fine for other non-Reporting Services files?
    Thanks,
    Aaron

    Hi aaronzott,
According to your description, you configured SSRS 2012 of SharePoint integrated mode. You added read permission to reports and data source to AD security group Reports-All, then added just read permission to ProjectManagers and ProjectUsers groups. When
users in ProjectManagers or ProjectUsers groups click report, the error message occurred. After you added Read permissions to the report and the data source to the groups, they can preview the report without errors.
Report definition permissions are defined through List permissions on the library that contains the report, but we can set permissions on individual reports if we want to restrict access. Set properties on a report including data source connection information,
processing options, and parameter properties. Edit Items on the library that contains the report or on the individual report. We also need to have view permissions on a shared data source (.rsds) to select it for use with the report.
For more information about Set Permissions for Report Server Operations in a SharePoint Web Application, please refer to the following document:

  • SSRS 2014 with SharePoint 2013 - Integrated Mode vs Native Mode Questions

    Hi,
We are using SharePoint 2013 and SQL Server 2014.
We are building a number of SSRS Reports that pull data from SQL Databases. (Pl note, we are not pulling any data from SharePoint Lists)
We have to make a choice between running the Reports in Native Mode or SharePoint Integrated Mode.
We saw this link: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb326290(v=sql.105).aspx - but it has no updated version for SQL 2014.
We have questions on which one to choose - based on what criteria, based on performance (which will be faster), other benefits, pros and cons and also on things that work only on SharePoint Integrated Mode and things that work only on Native Mode.
Would appreciate guidance on the above.
    Thanks

    Hi Karthick S,
If you had install Sharepoint server, then configure the Reporting Services in Sharepoint mode to take advantage of the Sharepoint. However, when you run a report in the SharePoint integrated mode in SQL Server Reporting Services, the report may run noticeably
slower than when you run the same report in native mode.More details information please reference to:General overhead performance differences when you view reports in SharePoint integrated mode versus in SharePoint
    native mode

  • Sharepoint 2010 Integration Problem??

I have CRM 2011(online) and Sharepoint 2010(online) on Same domain of Office 365.
I Integrated the CRM 2011(Online) with Sherepoint 2010(Online) but inside CRM it doesnot show normal view it shows only site.
if I Use 2011 list Components it shows only sit inside of CRM as below...
but if I Use the 2013 list Components it work fine for me.But there is also an issue
problem is that it works only if Sahrepoint is sign-in if sharepoint sign-out it shows this error...
this error is same for both case in 2011 list Components or
    2013 list Components.
    Muhammad Sohail

    Hi Muhammad,
According to your description, my understanding is that the SharePoint site showing in the CRM and the error occurred when SharePoint was signing out.
For the first issue, I recommend to check if the corresponding document library is created in SharePoint site.
Please go to SharePoint site, click Site Actions and View All Site Content, then check if the
entities you selected to be managed by Document Management appear as document libraries.
For test, I recommend to re-configure the CRM referring to the link below to see if the issue still occurs:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj863709.aspx
For the second issue, I recommend to add *.microsoftonline.com to trusted site in Internet Explorer browser and
make sure that the Enable Protected Mode check box isn't selected.

  • Oracle/SharePoint 2010 Integration

    Hello all,
I'm looking into integrating Oracle data into SharePoint 2010 using the BCS. I'd love to hear about the different options
for doing this along with their advantages and disadvantages. Basically I’m looking to be able to display data from multiple Oracle tables and be able to manipulate that data in SharePoint. By that I mean write, update and delete data from different tables
at the same time. The data need to be searchable in SharePoint in a grid format.
This is what I've found out from the research I've done so far please let me know if I'm mistaken or simplifying things.
Thanks so much for your help in advaance.
    - I need to use SharePoint Designer to create External Content Types that my BCS will use.
    - These are based of External Data Source Types (.NET Type, SQL Server, WCF Service).
What are my options for these 3 Data Source types?
    - .NET Type: What can I do with this option? Is this where I create a data model using ODP.NET? Are there other options
    here?
    - SQL Server: Obviously this connects to a SQL Server. What do people think of the option of syching our Oracle DB to a
SQL DB and the using all the functionality and options SQL give us?
    - WCF Services: Can I use any type of web service here to connect to Oracle? Does this option have CRUD functionality and
can I update multiple tables at the same time?
    ODP.NET
    - Is this where I create a .NET Type?
    - Can I select multiple tables?
    - Does this have CRUD functionality?
    - How easy is this to do?
    - Benefits of this?
    - Downsides?
    - Do I need Oracle installed on the SharePoint Server?
    BCS MetaMan
    - Uses Oracle as Data Source
    - Has CRUD functioality
    - Only allows us to update one table in our selection at a time?
    - Benefits of this?
    - Downsides?
    - Do I need Oracle installed on the SharePoint Server
I’d love to hear back from anyone on the options above or different options I’m not familiar with (whether 3rd party or
    other).

Hello all. Can any of you tell me if Novell Groupwise 7 can be integrated with SharePoint 2007? If so, do you have any related documentation. Thanks

    * SABisram,
the MS "integrator" told us Sharepoint can use GW as an SMTP server, that's pretty much all. It can also use LDAP to integrate with eDir instead of AD. As you can imagine, MS didn't put too much effort in such 3rd party integration.

  • OpenSSO 8.0 sharepoint 2007 integration problem

    Hi,
when i typed the sharepoint url its redirecting to opensso and when login in opensso the http 401 internal server page error giving and in agent log file invalid session and http 401 internal server giving.
please kinldy give any one solution for me in successful of this integration.
    thank u.
    Ramesh

I got rid of the deployment error message by including the necessary jar in WEB-INF/lib (which was missing in the original sample).
I can now run the sample, but I don't think it is working correctly. The SOAP messages are exchanged, but without any SOAP security headers. In other words, both the wsc and the StockAgent OpenSSO profiles are set to generate SAML2-SenderVouches, but none is generated.
The only security provider that seems to get engaged is FAMHttpProvider (because I get a login prompt if I select "User Authentication Required" in the StockService agent profile referenced by FAMHttpProvider).
If I activate the SOAP providers XWS-Client and XWS-Server, the bodies get signed with X509 certificates, which is not what I specified in the OpenSSO profiles. The OpenSSO profiles seem to have no role in the SOAP security headers being generated.
Any suggestion of what might be missing?
    Thank you,
    Ugo

The good news is that the new PIK compatible with SharePoint 2007 has been officially released as part of BOE R2 SP3.  The bad news is that I have not figured out how to install it!  SP3 installs from downloaded files automatically and does not extract installation files for the PIK.  Previous installs of the PIK involved running the setup.exe for the PIK located in the Add-On's (or similar) folder of the BOE install files/media.  No such luck with SP3. I have an open support case on this and will hopefully have more info soon.
