Sharepoint Exception : Microsoft.Sharepoint.SoapServer.SoapServerException

I have added Web reference of the Lists service .
When I called GetListCollection() It worked perfectly fine but when I called GetListItems() , the SoapServerException is thrown.
Iam using below code:
  client.Url = "http://Site/_vti_bin/Lists.asmx;"
client.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials;
varlistData = client.GetListCollection();
try
/* Assign values to pass the GetListItems method*/
stringlistName =
"{8ADCB879-2677-4FD4-BBA6-1C0B79A4B116}";
//string viewName = "AllItems";
stringrowLimit =
"100";
// Instantiate an XmlDocument object
                    System.Xml.
XmlDocumentxmlDoc =
newSystem.Xml.XmlDocument();
                    System.Xml.
XmlElementquery = xmlDoc.CreateElement("Query");
                    System.Xml.
XmlElementviewFields = xmlDoc.CreateElement("ViewFields");
                    System.Xml.
XmlElementqueryOptions = xmlDoc.CreateElement("QueryOptions");
/*Use CAML query*/
// query.InnerXml = "<Where><Gt><FieldRef Name=\"TWPage\" />" + "<Value
Type=\"Text\">0</Value></Gt></Where>";
                    queryOptions.InnerXml =
                    System.Xml.
XmlNodenodes = client.GetListItems("8ADCB879-2677-4FD4-BBA6-1C0B79A4B116",
null, query, viewFields, rowLimit,
null,
null);
catch(System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapExceptionex)
Console.WriteLine(ex.Message);
Console.ReadKey();

    Hi
    I get the following error in my crawl logs
    "Error while crawling LOB contents. ( Error caused by exception: Microsoft.BusinessData.Infrastructure.BdcException The shim execution failed unexpectedly - The method or operation is not implemented..; SearchID "
    Because of this i suspect, the search results are not including those aspx pages marked as "Hide physical urls from search".
    This error is not available in the another environment where the aspx pages are coming in the results.
    Thanks

    Hi Joe,
    Greetings!
    Reset the index and re-crawl. That usually clears it
    If you are using NTLM authentication, then make sure that you specified the PassThrough authentication for crawling
    Probably you need to debug the BDC code that underlies the external content types.

    The only place where I deviated was activating a port.  The example uses port 6000.  I entered port 5061, only
    because the error I was getting specified that port.  Is this correct?
    I can see the application pool that I created in the Lync control panel, but its status is 'N/A' and has a red X under the Replication column.  My application is also visable
    under 'Trusted Application'
    Any other ideas?

    I think you need a lower version of the adapter that targets SP 2007

    But when I am creating DataSet for the SharePoint 2010 List and when clicking on Query Builder and running the query I am getting following error:
    "Exception of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.SoapServer.SoapServerException' was thrown".
    Now what should I do next to connect my SharePoint List.

    What's your SOAP call look like for the webservice?

  • VS Program to work with SharePoint that is not on the same machine

    Hello! I am fairl new to programming in Visual Studio and even newer trying to work with SharePoint. I've just learned that VS and SharePoint must be installed on the same machine, but then a virtual development machine can be set up. If that is the case
    I may run into a problem. I am developing programs where I wanted my answers to be written to SharePoint lists. My programs will be spread out across my organization that will not have SharePoint installed on their computer, they will simply be able to access
    it through internet explorer. Will my programs be able to write to SharePoint lists in this case? Also, if there is any easier way to develop with this capability I am happy to learn.

    I have also attempted to copy some code from a training video out found which is below:
    Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
    Dim lists As New BofaListWebReference.Lists()
    lists.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials
    Dim listName As String = "TestElevated"
    Dim viewName As String = "All Items"
    Dim query As System.Xml.XmlNode
    Dim viewFields As System.Xml.XmlNode
    Dim rowLimit As String = "100"
    Dim queryOptions As System.Xml.XmlNode
    Dim responseNode As System.Xml.XmlNode
    Dim itemNode As System.Xml.XmlNode
    responseNode = lists.GetListItems(listName, viewName, query, viewFields, vbNull, queryOptions, vbNull)
    For Each itemNode In responseNode
    Label1.Text = Label1.Text + itemNode.InnerXml
    Next
    End Sub
    However, everytime I run it I get the following error message:
    Exception of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.SoapServer.SoapServerException' was thrown.
    I should also note that in the responseNode line, query, viewFields, and queryOptions have green lines underneath and the code I found this from did not include an entry for the final parameter so I just included vbNull as I seen that from a training video.

  • Write to SharePoint 2007 list using Web Services, getting Soap error

    Hello! I have never worked with XML or SharePoint's Web Services but am not facing a need to use it. I am attempting to write to my SharePoint 2007 list with the following code and am getting the following error :
    Exception of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.SoapServer.SoapServerException' was thrown.
    Here is my code I copied from Phil on StackOverflow
    Dim lists As New BofaListWebReference.Lists() lists.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials
    Dim listguid As String = "{my list guid}"
    'Get Name attribute values (GUIDs) for list and view.
    Dim ndListView As System.Xml.XmlNode = lists.GetListAndView(listguid, "")
    Dim strListID As String = ndListView.ChildNodes(0).Attributes("Name").Value
    Dim strViewID As String = ndListView.ChildNodes(1).Attributes("Name").Value
    'Create an XmlDocument object and construct a Batch element and its 'attributes. Empty string as view means use the default view.
    Dim doc As New System.Xml.XmlDocument()
    Dim batchElement As System.Xml.XmlElement = doc.CreateElement("Batch") batchElement.SetAttribute("OnError", "Continue") batchElement.SetAttribute("ListVersion", "1") batchElement.SetAttribute("ViewName",
    strViewID)
    batchElement.InnerXml = "<Method ID='1' Cmd='New'>" + "<Field Name='Title'>test</Field>" Try
    lists.UpdateListItems(strListID, batchElement) Label1.Text = "Call Escalated to sharepoint, ok." Catch ex As Exception
    Label1.Text = ex.ToString
    End Try
    Sorry, the pasting of the code didn't work as expected.
    Any help on getting me the ability to write to my list will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Manzutto,
    Not sure if you have attached the whole code in the post.
    If so, it contains errors in the Batch Element file, <Method> tab should have </Method> in the end.
    batchElement.InnerXml = "<Method ID='1' Cmd='New'>" + "<Field Name='Title'>test</Field></Method>"
    And the element in the batch element xml is case sensitive. Please make sure you have the xml file with correct format.

  • How to delete a list item in Sharepoint 2007 via SOAP?

    I am looking to delete a list item using soap web services. I am using the Lists.asmx web service.
    The XML looks like this:
    <Batch OnError="Continue" ListVersion="1">
    <Method ID="1" Cmd="Delete">
    <Field Name="ID">7</Field>
    </Method>
    </Batch>
    I got this from the msdn docs at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/lists.lists.updatelistitems%28v=office.12%29.aspx
    And I am using the Lists.UpdateListItems Method.
    I am doing this in python and python has a library, suds for this purpose. However I get this exception:
    suds.WebFault: Server raised fault: 'Exception of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.SoapServer.SoapServerException' was thrown.'
    I have looked for typos, and verified the XML format. Where am I going wrong?
    Some help please.

  • Update existing list item value in sharepoint using web service code

    I have the below code which I am trying to run for updating the list item value. "Settings" is the list name and the item in this list is having index of 1.
    Main()
            ListsSoapClient client = new ListsSoapClient();
            client.ClientCredentials.Windows.ClientCredential = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultNetworkCredentials;
            client.ClientCredentials.Windows.AllowedImpersonationLevel = System.Security.Principal.TokenImpersonationLevel.Impersonation;
            string strListName = "Settings";
            client.Open();
            XElement listData = client.GetList(strListName);
            string listID = listData.Attribute("ID").Value;
            string version = listData.Attribute("Version").Value;
            // string version = listData.Attribute("View").Value; Doesnt work
            // Method 1 : Make the call to SharePoint
            var listItems = client.GetListItems(strListName, null, null, null, null, null, null);
            List<XElement> results = listItems.Descendants().ToList();
            XElement updateItem = results[1];
            updateItem.SetAttributeValue("ows_Value", "value to update");
            client.UpdateListItems(strListName, updateItem); //Didnt work
            // Method 2 : Make the call to SharePoint
            string strBatch = "<Method ID='1' Cmd='Update'>" +
                            "<Field Name='ID'>1</Field>" +
                            "<Field Name='Title'>" + "999" + "</Field></Method>";
            XmlDocument xmlDoc = new System.Xml.XmlDocument();
            System.Xml.XmlElement elBatch = xmlDoc.CreateElement("Batch");
            //elBatch.SetAttribute("OnError","Continue"); //Not mandatory ?
            //elBatch.SetAttribute("ListVersion","1"); //Not mandatory ?
            //elBatch.SetAttribute("ViewName", "00F85842-35AD-4AED-8DF7-0F903FB850BE"); is it mandatory ?
            elBatch.InnerXml = strBatch;
            client.UpdateListItems(strListName, XmlElementToXelement(elBatch)); //doesnt work
            client.Close();
       public static XElement XmlElementToXelement(XmlElement e)
            return XElement.Parse(e.OuterXml);
    How do we get the ViewName value of the list using code ? why is it not mandatory in Method 2. At the end of the method1 i am getting the below exception.How do I fix this ?
     Exception of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.SoapServer.SoapServerException' was thrown.

    you can get view name using below links:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/14857811/sharepoint-web-services-getlistitems-view-name
    http://www.a2zmenu.com/Blogs/SharePoint/Get-selected-view-name-of-a-SharePoint-List.aspx
    you can use SPList.getview method.

  • SharePoint error (Batch size)

    My package is built in 2008 with 32 bit. It is working fine with 1500 records but if it having 32000 records then it throwing below error. I have removed unnecessary input and output columns aswell but didn't resolve.
    Microsoft.Samples.SqlServer.SSIS.SharePointUtility.SharePointUnhandledException: Unspecified SharePoint Error.  A possible reason might be you are trying to retrieve too many items at a time (Batch size) ---> System.ServiceModel.FaultException: Exception
    of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.SoapServer.SoapServerException' was thrown.

    Then it is a defect in this component. I'd suggest you somehow limit the amount of records, not columns, e.g. at the Data Flow Task level you can batch size to a small number.

  • SSRS Designer - XML Datasource - Parameter passing XML gets encoded, causes error on WS Request

    Hello,
    I am attempting to query a List from SharePoint using the XML Datasource. I am forced to use this datasource as our infrastructure team will not be upgrading our SSRS 2008 farm to SSRS 2008 R2 anytime soon. 2008 R2 has Native SharePoint
    List Datasources ( which works great FYI ). I already completed the report using the Native SP List DS, only to find out that my timing was not so great as 2008 R2 was not in production yet... /sigh, communication... anyways...
    I have successfully queried the List using the XML Datasource. It is only when I try to use the CAML query in the query parameter that it fails. So, here is my Query:
    <Query>
    <SoapAction>http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/GetListItems</SoapAction>
    <Method Namespace="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/" Name="GetListItems">
    <Parameters>
    <Parameter Name="listName">
    <DefaultValue>{DD3DE881-1F9D-4016-AD73-F7E1D9340880}</DefaultValue>
    </Parameter>
    <Parameter Name="query">
    <DefaultValue>
    <Query>
    <Where>
    <Gt>
    <FieldRef Name="Modified" />
    <Value Type="DateTime">2011-03-01</Value>
    </Gt>
    </Where>
    </Query>
    </DefaultValue>
    </Parameter>
    </Parameters>
    </Method>
    <ElementPath IgnoreNamespaces="True">*</ElementPath>
    </Query>
    I will be replacing that hard date with something like =DateAdd("d",-7,Now()) later, but focusing on the task at hand...
    Here is the error ( trimmed so you don't need to read the whole stack ):
    <soap:Body>
    <soap:Fault>
    <faultcode>soap:Server</faultcode>
    <faultstring>Exception of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.SoapServer.SoapServerException' was thrown.</faultstring>
    <detail>
    <errorstring xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/">Element &lt;Query&gt; of parameter query is missing or invalid.</errorstring>
    <errorcode xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/">0x82000000</errorcode>
    </detail>
    </soap:Fault>
    </soap:Body>
    The key to that error is:  Element &lt;Query&gt; of parameter query is missing or invalid.
    So I see that it is being encoded, so I decided to capture the actual Webservice request with Fiddler:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
    <soap:Body>
    <GetListItems xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/">
    <query>
    &lt;Query&gt;
    &lt;Where&gt;
    &lt;Gt&gt;
    &lt;FieldRef Name="Modified" /&gt;
    &lt;Value Type="DateTime"&gt;2011-03-01&lt;/Value&gt;
    &lt;/Gt&gt;
    &lt;/Where&gt;
    &lt;/Query&gt;
    </query>
    <listName>{DD3DE881-1F9D-4016-AD73-F7E1D9340880}</listName>
    </GetListItems>
    </soap:Body>
    </soap:Envelope>
    So now that we know that somehow the XML parameter of "query" is being encoded. How do I tell the SSRS designer that for this XML datasource's dataset query, I do not wish to encode that parameter?  I have searched all day today and came up with
    very little. I found a few posts with a simliar question, but no solution was ever mentioned.
    The closest to a likely solution was this Post :
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlreportingservices/thread/8a9ba2fc-26cd-423e-bbbf-a16b5c9722f5/
    in particular this phrase interested me:
    "Query parameters of type Msxml2.DOMDocument30 are passed as XML. Parameters of type String which happen to contain XML are passed as strings and are XML encoded in the SOAP message. The function CXml(String) converts a string
    into an Msxml2.DOMDocument30 and can be used in query parameter expressions."
    Similar to the poster of that question, I also cannot find a way to define the parameter as an XML type or the use of this mysterious CXML() function in the expression builder...
    I'm looking for a Microsoft resource to tell me whats going on here, but if anyone else has a workaround or an idea, I would be happy to try it out.
    Regards,
    -Ryan, Solution Architect

    Hi Ryan,
    Thanks for your question, from your statement, it seems that you want to give a default value for the parameter named query, right? If so I would recommend you achieve this requirement in report level, please follow these:
    1. Create a parameter named Date, select Date/Time as data type.
    2. Move to Default values tab, then click Add button ->type in  =DateAdd("d",-7,Now())  as defult value's expression.
    3. Right-cilck the dataset, and then select DataSet properties.
    4. Move to Filters tab, click add button to add a filter.
    5. In the drop-down list of Expression, select Modified datefield with Date/Time datatype.
    6. Type in =Parameters!Date.Value in value's textbox.
