SharePoint ignoring compat.browser

We have a single sharepoint server which is ignoring compat.browser.
Am unsure as to why.
The problem reveals itself because certain browsers do not work correctly.
On inspection if you access using a browser like chrome the server is using browser id
safari1plus
If you use the same browser on a working sharepoint farm then that farm ids the browser as
safari2
To me this infers that the fault sharepoint instance must ignore compat.browser since this contains.
    <browser id="Safari2" parentID="Safari1Plus">
        <controlAdapters>
            <adapter controlType="System.Web.UI.WebControls.Menu"
                     adapterType="" />
        </controlAdapters>
    </browser>
Which means that any browser identified as Safari1plus is going to become Safari2
So I think my question is how can sharepoint be ignoring or bypassing this?

Hi,
Did the issue happen when you browse the site via IPhone or Mac?
As far as I know, SharePoint 2010 will automatically show a mobile view when you access it from mobile devices, there is no need to type in the mobile URL.
If this is your case, you need to look into the following section:
<!-- iPhone Safari Browser -->
    <!-- sample UA "Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_0 like Mac OS X; ja-jp) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5A345 Safari/525.20" -->
    <browser id="iPhoneSafari" parentID="AppleSafari">
        <identification>
<userAgent match="iPhone" />
<userAgent match="Mobile" />
        </identification>
        <capabilities>
<capability name="isMobileDevice"

  • SharePoint Online: Organization Browser fault and SharePoint-Designer-Error

    Hello,
    I have two Problems:
    Firstly, the Organization Browser-WebPart is not viewed correctly. The Managers are not displayed on this WebPart. On SharePoint User-Profile I can see, that a Manager is availible for everyone.
    I wanted to delete this WebPart and paste it again, but I get a Error, if i want to edit the Person.aspx or personimmersive.aspx with SharePoint Designer:
    Object moved.
    Object moved to here.
    Can everyone help me?
    Best Regards,
    Atakhan

    Hi Atakhan,
    Assuming you're synching with Active Directory and there are no issues with the synch connection,
    I can speak to your first part, the organization browser web part, if not modified, but rather OOB, gets it's data from the Organization tab of the user object in active directory.  On the organization tab, there is a field for manager for each user,
    and a field for direct reports (e.g. in the event the person is a manger).
    Check that tab in active directory for one of your users and you'll see if is correct.
    Sorry, cant speak too much to editing the system pages directly.  Other than you should avoid that practice.
    And best way to approach that is to change the master page they pull from and make your edits on a COPY of the master page, not on the original.

  • Distiller arbitrarily ignores compatibility setting

    Here's the scenario: Two people sitting next to each other with the exact same setups (WinXP, Adobe TCS with FrameMaker 8 and Acrobat 3D).
    Person A (me) makes a PDF from FrameMaker using the established standards (including to set compatibility with Acrobat 5.x/PDF 1.4). Everything works just fine.
    Person B, who is using a fresh install of Windows and TCS, makes a PDF from the same FrameMaker files, using the same settings (same .joboptions), and everything APPEARS to be the same. However, the in-house print shop (which uses something called "Preps 5.2") cannot print from Person B's PDF. The job fails and gives no error messages.
    Examination of the PDF properties shows that Person B's PDF is compatible with Acrobat 7.x/PDF 1.6. Huh? So I sit with Person B and watch her make a PDF. She chooses the correct job options, makes the PDF, and bingo, same problem; it ups the compatibility to 7.x/1.6 in the final result.
    Aside from any silly reasons why the print shop apparently can't handle Acrobat 7.x/PDF 1.6, why is her Distiller ignoring her PDF settings?
    More importantly, how can we fix this?
    Thanks!
    e
    d

    Hmmm. It turns out to be pilot error of some sort on the part of Person B. I sent her my .joboptions file, which she used instead of the one she created according to the same criteria, and now it works OK.

  • Excel datasheet Password Protection not opening in Sharepoint 2010 default browser

    Password protection Excel datasheet not opening in SharePoint 2010 library with Use the server default
    (Open in the browser) I get a SharePoint  Error ‘an unexpected error has occurred ’
    If I change in advanced setting to Open in the client application it works fine
    What do I need to do In order to have the file open in the default browser?

    Excel Services/Excel Web App does not support password protected Excel sheets. Your only option is to open in Excel client.

  • SharePoint 2013: Infopath browser form "get form from" option greyed out

    In a web part page, I was able to add an app/list web part and an InfoPath web part, where the latter is setup with a "Get Form From" data connection with the former.
    Now I was trying to do the same within the edit page of the tasks list, as I was aiming to allow the user to edit the item related to the task and to approve the task from the same page. I can add the two web parts. However, the "Get Form From"
    data connection is not available in this case. What do I need to do to make it so?
    Thanks.

    Hi Ahmed,
    Please go to task list page and click customize form, then publish it in the InfoPath form designer.
    Now add a new page in SharePoint site, insert task list web part, then insert an InfoPath form web part. Click the triangle on the top right corner > Edit web part > Connections > Get form from, see if you could select task now.

  • ClassNotFound Exception compatibility browser

    I am currrently designing an application, and and I use
    the Swing library for all my Interfaces.
    If a user has a browser that cannot support the Swing object
    an Exception is launched.
    I want to catch this Exception to be able to prevent the user
    to install the JVM 1.2 but I cannot find where the exception is launched.
    I tried to create a JButton in the beginning of the applet just to see
    if the browser support the swing JComponent and try to capture here the Exception but it doesn't work!!!
    Could you help me please it is very urgent:-))
    init method of the applet:
    try{
              JButton hello=new JButton();
              hello.setName("white");
         catch(java.lang.ClassNotFoundException Exc) {
              Panel p=new Panel();
              p.setLayout(null);
              TextArea text=new TextArea();
              text.setBounds(400,200,0,0);
              text.setText(" ....");
              p.add(text);
              add(p);
         }

    Instead of catching a ClassNotFoundException, just catch a plain old Exception. That might work...

  • [SOLVED] Compton ignore web browser?

    Hello, I use compton as a composite manager over i3 and I really like it. One thing I do is keep the active window transparency on.
    Is there a way to override it somehow so that when I am active in chrome there will not be any transparency? This gets annoying when I am watching YouTube etc.
    Last edited by ArchAddict (2014-09-05 20:39:05)

    Did a bit of digging and found a solution. Wherever you are launching compton, replace it with this:
    exec compton -cCGf --opacity-rule 99:'class_g *= "Chromium"'
    The man page isn't really all that helpful about these launch options. At least it works!
    Cheers.

  • I would like know how to view a SharePoint Page from mobile browser or app.

    I work for a company that sell products and then offers aftermarket support.  On our external SharePoint site, I created a page to link to Wiki pages that contain knowledge sharing entries.  The goal is when a member of the company learns something
    that they feel would be good to share, the can take a video, post it to Vimeo, and then embed the video with applicable text to the SharePoint site.  The SharePoint posts can also contain PDFs, other document links, and embedded pictures.
    I have the page essentially finished, I am ready for some more contributors at the company to start adding content.
    One of the goals of the site is to be viewable via a mobile application.  I have tried apps such as SPConnect, and SharePlus from Infragistics.  Their mobile apps view SharePoint as a list, and do not view any of the embedded pictures or Vimeo
    videos.
    My questions are:
    Will SharePoint 2010 support mobile web browsing with the same functionality as the standard web browser?
    If 2010 will not, will SharePoint 2013 offer the support?
    If it is possible, what features do I need from a server and what settings do I need to enable to make it happen?  Currently on our site, it is not viewable.  I use "Forms Authentication" to log into the site.
    If it is possible, do you suggest finding an app?  Is there an app that will do it, or can I just log in and view from the mobile web browser the same way I do from a standard web browser?
    Overall, I need to know what I need to do to get this to work.
    Thank you for reading.  I look forward to your responses.

  • Will Office Web Apps Server 2013 work with SharePoint 2013 sites hosted in SP2010 compatibility mode?

    We are planning a upgrade of a SP2010 farm to 2013. There has been a bit of customization so we wish to run the old sites on the new SP2013 platform in SP2010 compatibility mode.
    So my question is will Office Web Apps Server 2013 work with the old sites hosted in compatibility mode?
    I found a similar query from March 2014 found here
    http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/93101/office-web-apps-2010-running-on-sharepoint-2013-for-compatibility-mode-sites/116281#116281
    Has there been an update released to resolve this
    Cheers D

    Hi  ,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you need to know whether Office Web Apps 2013 is working with SharePoint 2013 sites which is in SharePoint 2010 compatibility mode.
    For my test, Office Web Apps 2013 with SharePoint 2013 sites which is in SharePoint 2010 compatibility mode is working fine.
    Thanks,

  • MOSS 2007 gives cross browser compatabity issue on firefox and chrome and also in higher version of IE (9 & 11)

    I am getting browser compatablity issue when MOSS 2007 is used on IE 9 & 11 and on other browsers like firefox and chrome.
    I also face issue while using the latest version of third party Intersoft WebUI 2014 R2 controls. Although the older version of Intersoft WebUI 2008 controls were working fine with MOSS in IE7 browser. But recently WebGrids are not loading
    properly and the WebCombo dropdowns doesn't work. After apporaching the Intersoft on tis issue they said their latest version of Intersoft is compatible with MOSS 2007.
    In this process of upgrade I learnt that the Intersoft Sample which comes with their setup can be run on Visual Studio 2010 and above. So I would like to know whether MOSS 2007 support VS 2010 or not.
    Accepting response on my queries.

    You've posted this in the wrong forum. 2007 questions should go into the SharePoint legacy forum.
    This thread discussed 2007 browser support:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/a3131e1f-b78b-46bd-bc46-750866b280bd/sharepoint-2007-ie-browser-compatability
    Visual Studio 2010 will let you build tools for SharePoint 2007 however I'm not familiar with what you're trying to do or what intersoft webui does.

  • Access SharePoint 2010 from iPad/iPhone

    Hi All,
    i am trying to access SharePoint 2010 sites from my iPad. is it possible to configure with in the server itself or i need to buy third party application for that? Any comment or suggestion will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    SharePoint 2010 is not very friendly on an iPad, in my experience.
    Accessing SharePoint via a browser on the iPad doesn't work well. There is often a problem with "double authentication" requests. Single sign-on, in general, doesn't work well on the iPad.
    The way to go is definitely with third party apps. One that I have used to great effect (and they're not paying me to say so) is Collogo Briefcase:
    https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/colligo-briefcase-pro-sharepoint/id496728596?mt=8 (there is a lite version available too).
    As an aside, SP2010 doesn't even know about iPads (no entry in OOTB compat.browser file -- though you can add one yourself). SP2010 was built before iPads were so ubiquitous.
    x
    If you do go with third party apps I really have had good luck with
    SharePlus*.
    *I have no affiliation with SharePlus. I am just a user of the application.

  • Visual Studio 2012: Can't access Sharepoint Web Services because of Discovery Credentials Prompt

    Hi.
    I've exactly the same problem that is descripted
    here, so I'll add its description here.
    My SharePoint is 2010
    I am trying to access the web services that are located in this url:
    http://<part_of_th_url_omitted>/_vti_bin/Lists.asmx. I have no problem accessing
    this URL using my broswer, that is, when I type the URL and my browser's address bar and press enter, I can see the list of the services that are available. I encounter no problem by accessing this site through my browser at all.
    However, when I try to access the services from that URL (http://<part_of_the_url_omitted>/_vti_bin/Lists.asmx),
    a Discovery Credential Dialog box prompts me for my username and password. SO what I do is I enter my username and password that I used to access the sharepoint using my browser, the problem is, the dialog box doesn't seem to accept the username and password
    that I enter as the dialog box is keep on appearing.
    Below are the detailed steps on how I go about in adding the Web Services.
    1. From the Solution Explorer, I right click on the "Service References" folder.
    2. From the context menu that appears, I Click on "Add Service Reference...". The "Add Service Reference" Dialog box will appear.
    3. From the "Add Service Reference" dialog box, I click on the "Advanced,,," button which can be seen at the bottom-left of the dialog
    box. The "Service Reference Settings" Dialog box will appear.
    4. From the "Service Reference Settings" dialog box, I click on the "Add Web Reference..." dialog box. The "Add Web Reference"
    Dialog box will appear. This is the dialog box where I can type the URL of the service that I want to access. So I type "http://<part_of_the_url_omitted>/_vti_bin/Lists.asmx".
    AFter typing that, I click on the Go button (which is the green arrow button at the right of the address bar of this dialog box).
    5. After doing that, a prompt dialog box will appear which has the title "Windows Security" and it is aking for my username and password. SO
    what I do is I enter the Username and the Password that I use in accessing the sharepoint site (http://<part_of_the_url_omitted>/_vti_bin/Lists.asmx)
    6. The prompt seems to accept the Username and Password, but after that, a new dialog box appeared with the title "Discovery Credential" and
    it says "The Service 'http://<part_of_the_url_omitted>/_vti_bin/Lists.asmx' requires a username and
    password". SO what I do is I enter again the un and pw that I use to access the sharepoint site, the one that I used inm the previous dialog box.
    7 After entering the username and the password and clicking the OK button. The dialog box reappears still asking for a username and a password, but this
    time, it shows a different message. It says "The Service 'http://<part_of_the_url_omitted>/_vti_bin/Lists.asmx/$metadata'
    requires a username and password". SO it really, what oonly changed is the URL, it has now the $metadata at the end. What do I do? I eneter the username and password again.
    8. After clicking Ok again, the dialog box reappears, now it says "The Service 'http://<part_of_the_url_omitted>/_layouts/1033/error.aspx'
    requires a username and password." Now it shows a very different username. Of ocurse, I still type in the username and password and click Ok.
    9. after doing that, the dialog box reappears again and it shows the same message as in step 6. So I do steps 6, 7 and 8 in a loop.
    10. When I finally get tired of entering the username and password, I click on cancel. The message box reappears again. So I click on cancel again. After
    doing that, I can then, surprisingly, see the list of the web services. However, not surprisingly, I still can't use it because the "Add Reference" button which I need to click in order to use the Web services is disabled. So I can only see the list
    of the services but I can't use it.

    Hi Gaston,
    I would suggest you the following thread, check whether it meet your scenario, it shows that if you have set IE options to remember the username and password, and you have enter wrong password before, this issue may happen:

  • Excel Services Connectivity on Sharepoint 2013 for external user

    Currently , external user is able to refresh the data on sharepoint site through browser. the data connection is pointing the one of the external data source. But how can an external user (Internet user which accessing sharepoint through internet) download
    a copy of excel in sharepoint library and open the excel workbook with data refresh ability at client machine ?
    Do we need client machine to be able to access / ping the external data source?
    Thanks.

    Thanks for the response.
    They want to perform data analysis and design their own report with own template , for example : to remove subtotal from the powerpivot tables which we cannot change the formatting at the excel services at browser level.
    So if i understand correctly, we need to get the client machine to be able to access to the database server directly to get the access to the cube for data analysis although we had this odc file connection setup, am i right?
    For internal user, network team should open port / access for them to access database server directly.
    For external user, either to open public access to the database server directly or setup a VPN connection for the external user to access the database server in their secure network.
    Let me know if i understand this correctly.
    Thanks.
