Sharepoint Internet publishing dmz and lan

we have provided below list to Operation to configure dmz and lan envoirnment
dmz server was not on domain they faced issue to put dmz on domain they have to open on firewall any from
dmz to active directory is there any port we are missing below if we have to have communication from DMZ to db/application server
MCTS,ITIL

WFE -> DB only requires 1433 (or the assigned port) and 1434/udp if using a random port. WFE -> WFE communication is what leverages 32843/32844 (service calls).
Outbound email must be port 25, unless you configure an anonymous relay that SharePoint can communicate to over port 25.

  • Activate SharePoint Server Publishing

    Hi guys,
This might be a simple question but I'd like to activate the SharePoint Server Publishing feature on my site collection where this site collection using a custom branding feature (i.e. using sandbox solution).
There is no documentation how this sandbox solution developed. But the branding solution is uploaded to solution gallery and the feature is activated at the site collection level.
I wonder if its safe for me to activate SharePoint Server Publishing feature and it will not overwrite current look and feel?
    Any advise greatly appreciated.
    Balai

As per below explination it shouldnt be a problem.
REad throught the below content and you will get a clear idea .
The SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure feature provides publishing functionality at the site collection level, and the SharePoint
Server Publishing feature provides publishing functionality at the site level. The subset of features contained in each of these primary features is collectively known as “publishing features.” Publishing features are all the features that are part of a preconfigured
publishing site or that are added when publishing is enabled at the site collection and site level. When publishing is enabled, all publishing features are automatically enabled. You cannot select individual publishing features, such as variations, to be enabled
separately without enabling other publishing features. All publishing features are either active or inactive. However, even though you can decide to enable the publishing features, you do not have to use them all.
When you enable the SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure feature, the Inherit
    Theme and Apply
Theme sections are added to the Site Theme page. These options allow a site administrator to specify whether a site should
inherit the theme from the parent site or should use its own theme. These themes also allow the site administrator to specify whether to
apply the selected theme only to the current site or to the current site and all sites below it in the site hierarchy. For more information about themes, see Themes
    overview (SharePoint Server 2010).
New master pages and page layouts, such as article pages and a Wiki page that is used by publishing sites, are added.
A new folder is created in the Master Page Gallery library, and is named based on the language that was used for the SharePoint Server 2010 installation. For example, if the English version
was installed, the folder name is en-us. This folder contains a folder named Preview Images, which contains the thumbnail preview images of the Publishing page layouts.

  • SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure with drag-and-drop

    Hello,
When I activated "SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure" future, I can no longer use drag-and-drop functionality between two libraries (eg. drag from Document Library to MyDoc library). When I disable it, drag and drop is possible.
But I need both of this functionalities, because i use Managed navigation. What should I do?
    Thanks in advance,
    Tomaz

    Hi Tomaz,
According to your description, I could reproduce this issue as:
    1. Create a web application with team site
    2. Create a new library called docA, upload a new document
    3. Then I could move the document to Document library with drag-and-drop feature
    4. Activate SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure
    5. I could not move the document from Document library to docA library with drag-and-drop feature
    6. Upload a new document to docA, then also could not move it to Document library with drag-and-drop feature
Since you also want to use Managed Navigation, you can use Content and Structure feature to move a document from one library to another library. You can do as Site Settings->content and structure under Site Administration->clicking on the library,
then you can move or copy the document to the destination library.
    I hope this helps.
    Thanks,

  • Sharepoint 2007, Office 2007, and 64-bit Internet Explorer support

    Hi All,
I have an issue editing documents on our SharePoint 2007 intranet.  When using 64-bit IE, and when I choose "Edit in Microsoft Office Word" I get the following error:   ‘Edit Document’ requires a Windows SharePoint Services-compatible application and Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or greater.    This does not happen with 32-bit IE.
I am working on deploying Windows 7 and I am seeing this on a clean installation of Windows 7 Enterprise x64.  The only software I am installing is Office Enterprise 2007.  The Office 2007 installation includes the Office Tools > Windows SharePoint Services Support.   Installing SP1 and SP2 for Office does not fix the problem.   I can duplicate this on multiple computers.
I know 64-bit IE is a level 2 supported browser according to this article (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc263526.aspx ), but shouldn't editing documents be allowed for it?   Perhaps I am misinterpreting the article somehow?   If this is the case, could someone point out where I am going wrong?
    Thanks,
    Andrew

Thanks but copying the dll over and restarting IE also did not work.  I also restarted the computer to be sure.  I tried these additional things:
I tried re-registering the dll but I got this error:  The module "owssupp.dll" was loaded but the call DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80070716.
I also removed the dll and ran the Microsoft Office Diagnostics utility.  It found and corrected one problem (it added the dll back), but this did not fix my problem.
To elaborate more, I noticed that I CAN check out a document and then use the "Edit in Microsoft Word" link to open the document.  However, when I try to save the document, SharePoint thinks the document is read-only.  So there is still some compatibility issues going on there.
So I did some more digging and although I couldn't find it documented, the feature that allows this to work is an ActiveX control.  I compared the browser add-ons in the 32bit version of IE to the 64 bit version and what would you know, the add-ons (SharePointOpenDocuments and SharePoint Stssync Handler - both controlled by owssupp.dll) were not part of the browser... and there didn't appear a way to install them.
According to the document I linked in my original post, ActiveX controls are not supported in level 2 browsers such as 64 bit Internet Explorer... it could be this is one of the ActiveX controls that is not supported.  For now that is my answer unless anyone else has more ideas.

  • Cannot publish to MobileMe.   Error says, "iWeb couldn't connect to MobileMe. Make sure your Internet connection works and try again."  Connection is OK!

My site will publish to a folder, but will not publish to MobileMe.   Error says, “iWeb couldn’t connect to MobileMe. Make sure your Internet connection works and try again.“  Connection is OK!

Thank you Alancito for your reply.  The recent post you suggested was not necessary because another of your suggestions did the trick:  https://discussions.apple.com/message/11503337#11503337  In effect, it seems to have reestablished my connection to my MobileMe account, and my iWeb site now publishes on MobileMe.
My next step will be to transfer my iWeb site to another Personal Web Provider when MobileMe ceases to exist next June.  Any recommendations for a simple PWP?

  • Issue with Internet facing site and Intranet sites

    Hello All,
I have migrated the SP2013 environment using database attach method for our intranet site. We also working on the
SP2013 Internet facing site using the same content database as Internet site.
When I extended the web application for Internet facing site, zone to
Internet and these are the URLs: The Intranet website URL is
    https://intranet.contoso.com/SitePages/home.aspx (Root Site) and
SP2013 Internet facing site http://contoso.com (not a root site and publishing site template)
However, I found on the http://contoso.com users can still access the
http://contoso.com/SitePages/home with same content as Intranet.
After done some Google search, bloggers mentioned to have move  https://intranet.contoso.com/SitePages/home.aspx to another site collection so that Internet facing site can exist root site.
Can 2 we have to two root sites in same web application? I need the content database to be same so that managers can check
Internet facing site and after signing into SP2013, redirects to
    Internet site.
Which is the best option to achieve this with same content database.
    Please advice.
    Regards,
    Aroh

    Business Requirement:
Content Managers want to control internal Internet site (https://intranet.contoso.com) (with default zone, port 443, Root site) and also want to have SP2013 Internet site (with Internet zone
http://www.contoso.com (not a root site and publishing site template)), Anonymous access at Web Application level. I configured the site architecture
to have intranet zone as default zone and extended Web Application for Internet facing site with Anonymous site. This the current site architecture
Because content managers do not want to duplicate public site (Internet facing site) with will be shared with some lists that are stored in intranet site.
For e.g. a sub site named “News and Events” will be shared with Public site as well as Internet users. Therefore, if a manger wants to update a list in the public site, it should reflect in intranet site as well. Thus, managers
don’t want to have separate database but same content database.
    Problem:
I have extended web application to have different Internet zone, the site URL looks this: http://www.contoso.com/sites/public with publishing template and Anonymous access. Managers want to have public site URL to be just
http://www.contoso.com and not   http://www.contoso.com/SitePages/Home.aspx. As I am using path based site collection for extending site collection, I am
    getting this URL http://www.contoso.com/SitePages/Home.aspx
We also tried host named site collection, but it does not provide anonymous access and keep on asking for user credentials.
Q1: We want to have Intranet and Public site with same content database as per business requirements, Shall I following link       http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/81172/moving-content-db-for-a-site-collection-to-another-db-server?
Q2: Because I am constrained that I don’t want to have separate web application, (I know, its not regular requirement), how could achieve this requirements?
Q3: Do have to completely re-design web site architecture, with
www.contoso.com as main web application, then copy Intranet site collection and move this to
    www.contoso.com/intranet using
    Move-SPSite command
Any kind of pointer and help will be highly appreciated as I am struggling for 2 weeks to solve this.

  • Internet Based Clients and Native Mode

    Hi guys,
I have a question.... We have SCCM 2007 SP2 running in mixed mode in the environment. Now we plan to support internet based clients. Here is the current Hierarchy in mixed mode.
    1 Central Server
    1 Primary Server
3 Secondary servers under above Primary Server
Now as the requirement is to support internet based clients and want them to support on office LAN as well when they come to the office....this is what I would be doing : ( Theoretically I know, I need the practical steps to achieve that )
    1. Get all the 3 PKI Certificates : Site Server Signing, Web Server, Client agent.
    2. Make sure all the required ports are opened in-between Intranet <->DMZ AND DMZ <-> Internet
    3. Migrate Central server from Mixed to Native Mode.
    4. Install another Primary Server on Intranet in Native mode.
    5. Create a site system server connected to newly created Native Primary Site in the DMZ zone with these roles installed : MP, SUP and DP.
    6. Re-install all the SCCM clients in the environment with the command-line so that they can be supported on both internet and intranet.
    7. Make sure internet clients are able to connect DMZ site system server via internet.
Please let me know if I'm missing something here and let me know the practical steps to achieve this.
Request you not to share Microsoft technet link for the same. Please share some step-by-step practical document etc.. to achieve this.
    Thanks,
    Sam

    1. This is incorrect. You need more than a single web server cert and client cert. You need a unique server auth cert for *every* one of your systems hosting a client role like the MP, DP, and SUP. Also, you need a unique client auth cert for each and *every*
client that may/will connect via the Internet.
    4. Standing up a whole extra site just to support IBCM is a bit overkill. It does allow you to keep your "main" primary site in mixed mode, but it does add some overhead and cost and is not technically necessary.
    6. Incorrect. You only need to reinstall clients that will be configured as "Internet-only". Intranet clients should pick up the internet facing roles via policy. You can verify this by checking locationservices.log on the clients after they are successfully
communicating and the Internet facing roles are stood up and healthy.
You've made no account above for the CDP or CRL checking. This is a major stumbling block for many folks.

  • Best way to Securely publish OWA and Active Sync

    Hi Guys
Just a quick question what is the best way for me to securely publish OWA and Active Sync in Exchange 2013, I have 1 CAS server and one MB server both on my lan but i have 443 open to internet and would like to make it more secure by putting maybe a reverse
proxy or OWA device in my DMA, my setup is small sub 200 users so cost is a factor, what is the most economically way for me to do this with the least amount of work and complication
I know ISA/TMG is now extinct and i dont want to use any linux reverse proxies etc.. just a simple solution that will publish these services securely that is easy to support going forward and inexpensive.
    Thanks in advance
    Spudney

What exactly are you looking to secure?  If all that you have open is TCP 443 that is a tight setup already.
You'll  have to state the business requirements you are looking to address - and for a 200 user org I suspect that they will be very different from a large enterprise.
Take a look at this pls:

  • Lync edge and two NICs, DMZ and NAT

I am in the process of setting up my lync 2013 edge server and i seem to be stuck.  We run a external firewall and an internal firewall and have a  DMZ where all of my public facing servers sit that resides between these two   I have things
like my webservers and edge transport for my exchange servers in here.,   I am in the process of creating my new edge pool topology and have a question.  I am going to NAT my Edge servers from the external firewall so the public IP address is something
like 12.xx.xxx.xxx and then the DMZ subnet is 192.168.3.x.  For my internal IP address I put the internal IP of my edge server which is 192.168.3.17 and for external setting i put the 12.xx.xxx.xxx IP address even though there is not a NIC in the edge
server that has that IP since it is NAT'd from my firewall.  Will that work?  The reason i ask is everyone seems to say that this edge server has to have two NICs that has one connected to my DMZ subnet and the other to my LAN subnet but doesn't
that mean you have a huge hole with a Windows server with one foot in the DMZ and the other in the LAN?  Is htere a way to utilize only one NIC in an Edge server?  I guess i am trying to see if it will work like the edge transport role in exchange.
     thanks.

No, you shouldn't ever have an edge server with one foot in the DMZ and one foot in the LAN.  That somewhat defeats the purpose of a DMZ since you've just created a path around your firewall.  What you need is in effect two DMZs, one that communicates
only with the Internet, and one that communicates only with the internal network.  This is where the two NICs come into play.
The external facing NIC would get private IPs typically (though they can be public) which are in turn NAT'd to public IPs.  The topology builder knows about the private IPs, but for the A/V edge, there's also a section where you let it know that the
edge will be NAT'd and what the public IP for the A/V edge is.
You can get away with just one NIC, on just one subnet.  People have had issues, and it's not supported, but I personally have gotten this to work without issue on several occasions.
So, if you simply can't have two DMZs, you could give the box one NIC and four IPs.  192.168.3.17, 18, 19, and 20.  Assign 17 as the internal NIC, and 18, 19, and 20 as the access edge, web edge, and av edge.  In the topology builder, specify
the 192.168.3.X addresses, but also put the 12.xx.xxx.xxx address in the public section.  Put persistent routes on the box so that it knows to use the Internal firewall to get to internal addresses, and the default route should be the external firewall
(I suspect this is in place for other boxes in the DMZ unless they only talk to the Internet).  Open your ports, add your DNS, install Lync and you should be good.

  • RV320 WAN1, DMZ and PPPoE

Hello fellow routing and switching enthusiasts.
Looks like the RV320 firmware version 1.0.2.23 (release 1 Mar 2013) doesn't seem to automatically disable all settings which should be disabled, after WAN2 is swapped for DMZ - and this becomes obvious only if WAN1 is configured for PPPoE.
    Initial conditions:
    1) Configure ADSL modem/router/firewall to be a modem only, and connect to WAN1 port on RV320.
    2) Configure WAN2 as a DMZ
    3) Configure WAN1 to use PPPoE
    4) Wait several minutes in case authentication was taking several attempts to succeed.
    Symptoms of Problem:
    a) System Summary -> IPv4 tab -> WAN1 IP Address and Default Gateway were still 0.0.0.0
    b) Log -> System Statistics -> WAN1 IP Address and Default Gateway still 0.0.0.0
    c) Log -> Processes -> ntpclient had local address = ISP assigned IP external address    <------- very interesting indeed !
    d) Attempt to access internet via LAN ports fails.
The fact that the ntpclient had the ISP assigned IP external address confirmed that the DSL modem was doing its thing, and that the RV320's PPPoE function was correctly authenticating, but not routing.
    Solution:
(After a lot of failed attempts to identify what was causing this...)
I manually unchecked the  setting: System Management -> Dual WAN -> WAN1 (edit) -> [  ] Network Service Detection.
As soon as I manually disabled this setting and saved it, the routing tables were almost instantaneously updated / made available, and NAT functions succeeded and allowed clients connected to LAN ports to access to the internet via the RV320.
    Hope this helps someone.

  • Publishing site and webpart disable issue

I have installed SharePoint 2013 server and did the following.
    1. Created a web application
    2. Create a Site Collection
    3. Selected "Publishing" template
    4. Assigned "Site Collection Administrator"
    5. I then tried accessing root site through client browser http://portal.mydomain.com
    6. I went into the settings and selected "EDIT" to change the layout and changed into Two Columns layout and deleted default webparts except "Documents"
Now when I want to add a webpart like i used to do in SharePoint 2010 nothing happens and it seems like the webpart button is disabled.  Here is the snapshot ..Please guide how to add webparts and what to do to bring the webparts dialogue like in 2010
    version.

It seems there are issues with Internet Explorer default viewing compatibility. For those who are banging their heads with IE 9/10 ...here is the solution
    1. Access your site in Internet Explorer....
    2. Press F12 key (developer tools)
    3. do settings as below.

    Hi Mali,
According to your description, my understanding is that users cannot access the SharePoint site if SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure is enabled.
If I misunderstood please feel free to correct me.
I recommend use PowerShell to activate the feature in SharePoint 2013 to see if the issue still occurs.

  • Internet Explorer 8 and Menu Builder Links

We just installed Internet Explorer 8 and the links from Menu
Builder are no longer working. They will work in IE 7, and Firefox.
Any ideas? Is anyone else having this problem?

    Hi there
Before attempting to answer this I'd like to know exactly how
you published the MenuBuilder output. Did you use the Flash output,
    the HTML or the EXE?

  • Differences between Publishing sites and publishing enabled document library

    Hi
what is the main differences between Publishing sites and publishing enabled document library
and how to enable publishing for document library?
    adil

Publishing Sites is an out-of-the-box site template designed to publish web pages and it comes with a pre-built workflow or without (depends on which template you pick). It comes with libraries such as Pages library, Publishing Images, or Site Images.
It is configured to fully customized the master pages (or add new ones), and page layouts.
There is no such thing as publishing enabled document library. A document library is not designed to publish web pages. You can have Site Pages library in a team site, but if you are looking to fully brand a site collection, then this is not your answer.
You will need to use a Publishing Site to fully brand your Internet or Intranet site.
You can enable the publishing infrastructure on any site that is NOT a publishing site, but this does not turn your provisioned site to a publishing site. It simply turns on publishing features, such as navigation management, master pages/page layouts management,
    publishing workflows, etc....
