Sharepoint lookup column displaying ID instead of text value in PowerPivot window

HI
I exported the datafeed into the PowerPivot. However, the lookup columns that appear in the PowerPivot shows the ID of the value, instead of the text value. How do I get the values to appear in the PowerPivot instead of the ID.

Cally, is this still an issue?
Thank you!

    Hi Mil,
    While you create a report or BDC program or any program, we get a pop-up initially asking the attributes, there a option is available for Uni-code checking. Try to see whether it is checked, if not check it.

    As Jogn said you would have to use the planning connection. The smart lists used in planning are not in Essbase. Essbase stores the smartlist ID number not the text value.

  • SSIS Package : While Extracting Sharepoint Lookup column, getting error 'Cannnot convert between unicode and non-unicode string data types'

    Hello,
    I am working on one project and there is need to extract Sharepoint list data and import them to SQL Server table. I have few lookup columns in the list.
    Steps in my Data Flow :
    Sharepoint List Source
    Derived Column
    its formula : SUBSTRING([BusinessUnit],FINDSTRING([BusinessUnit],"#",1)+1,LEN([BusinessUnit])-FINDSTRING([BusinessUnit],"#",1))
    Data Conversion
    OLE DB Destination
    But I am getting the error of not converting between unicode and non-unicode string data types.
    I am not sure what I am missing here.
    In Data Conversion, what should be the Data Type for the Look up column?
    Please suggest here.
    Thank you,
    Mittal.

    You have a data conversion transformation.  Now, in the destination are you assigning the results of the derived column transformation or the data conversion transformation.  To avoid this error you need use the data conversion output.
    You can eliminate the need for the data conversion with the following in the derived column (creating a new column):
    (DT_STR,100,1252)(SUBSTRING([BusinessUnit],FINDSTRING([BusinessUnit],"#",1)+1,LEN([BusinessUnit])-FINDSTRING([BusinessUnit],"#",1)))
    The 100 is the length and 1252 is the code page (I almost always use 1252) for interpreting the string.

  • Report displaying numbers instead of text.

    Hello Everyone,
    We have a planning application. I created a smartview report for employees, their hiring justification and man months. I tried to create a this report through by connecting to essbase server. In the report, I got random numbers for the text data (like 1431 for hiring justification of an employee). Later I found out that the text data was loaded through smartview to planning server, and not to Essbase server. Thats probably the reason I am seeing (Indexes) numbers for text fields.
    Is there a way to still generate the report from essbase server, or do we have to load that data to essbase app of the planning application ?

    As Jogn said you would have to use the planning connection. The smart lists used in planning are not in Essbase. Essbase stores the smartlist ID number not the text value.

  • ALV column displays either button or text ?

    Dear collegues,
    I want to display one column in an ALV table that either displays a button (with a text on it) or displays a text (without button). The decision what of these 2 possibilites is shown should be controlled by the runtime data (eg. the WD context).
    PS: I know how to display one ALV column with only buttons or one ALV column with only text.

    Hi Christian,
    a) Is the command l_cv->set_key( 'TEXT_VIEW' ) still correct to display the icon ?
    yes there is a no show stopper to display icon.since TEXT_VIEW is a string value to populate  text/check box conditionally.
    b) What I fill into the new context field 'CELL_VARIANT' while runtime ? Should it filled with u201CTEXT_VIEWu201D to display the iconand with u201C u201C to display the button ?
    you can give either button or icon to cell_variant.Follow my code as it is .you will get the output.

  • BEx Wad 7.0 displays key instead of text when text value is blank

    Hi,
    I have a query which behaves differently in BEx Analyzer and in a Web Template. I have a characteristic which is set to display text and key. The key is "100" and the text field is not filled out in the text table of the characteristic for key value "100".
    In BEx Analyzer, the text field shows a blank value. However, in WAD the text field displays the key which is "100". I need to display the text field as blank in WAD, but it seems like this is not possible. Do you know a way to achieve this?
    I need to export to Excel from WAD, so I guess javascript will not be a proper solution.
    Thanks!

  • Workbook refresh displays key instead of text

    Hi,
    We are on NW2004S rampup. Our support pack level for Quality environment is 7. When we execute the workbook in management cockpit in transaction UMM_PRES, the calendar month is displayed as text. When we refresh workbooks, the calendar month changes from text to key., like from Jan 2006 - May 2006 to 01/2006 - 05/2006. This happens for every refresh. On the other hand when we log back and display, text is shown and with every subsequent refresh key is displayed. This does not happen in Quality system under 3.0b version. My search on OSS notes does not get any relevant  one. Anyone having similar experience?
    Thanks.
    Param

    Hi David,
    I am able to get the result as text only after each refresh. This is made possible as follows:
    In RSD1, I changed the following under BEX tab.
    Display  changed to Text
    Text type changed to medium type
    The Text type is  new one in 2004S as compared to 3.x.
    Tnx.

  • IM - Recipient sometimes sees black block instead of text when I use Windows 7 High Contrast theme

    I use Lync client 2010 on 64 bit Windows 7. I like to use the Windows High Contrast Black theme. In Lync this sometimes causes an issue in that the person who I am sending messages to sees some of my messages as a black block/bar in their client (perhaps
    it could be black text on black background). In my client the message looks ok. Any ideas as to what I can do to resolve this would be appreciated as it is an inconvenience to have to switch to a non-high contrast theme every time I am having an IM conversation

    Hi,
    You can try to the following steps:
    Update Windows 7 and Lync 2010 client to the latest version.
    Try to use Lync 2013 client to have a test.

  • Is there a way to Insert Data into a Lookup Column Type on a SharePoint List Destination in SSIS?

    Greetings.
    I have successfully worked out inserting SQL data (2008 R2) into my 2010 SharePoint list (New, Update, Delete) by creating an SSIS Data Flow Task as outlined here:
    http://fsugeiger.blogspot.com/2010/01/synchronise-sql-table-with-sharepoint.html
    However, the problem I am running into is inserting data into the SharePoint Columns that are "Lookup" column types. I verified that all of the values I am copying from SQL into the SharePoint lookup column exist in the customn list it is pointing to. It
    is important to have this column be a lookup column as it links to another custom list that has many more columns of related information.
    I have read and re-read the SharePoint SSIS Adapters 2011.docx from
    http://sqlsrvintegrationsrv.codeplex.com/ and the only section that seems to apply is this:
    "Looking Up Values in a SharePoint List
    If you have to look up a value in a SharePoint list, you can use the Lookup transformation in your data flow, and use the SharePoint List source to load the lookup table. You may have to add a Derived Column transformation or a Script component that splits
    data in the lookup column on the ";#" delimiter to separate the ID value from the description.
    If you are replacing values in your data with the values that you look up in the list, then loading the changed data back into SharePoint, you only have to include the ID from the lookup column. SharePoint ignores the description if you include it."
    I am not sure if the above statement means that I should be passing the assocaited ID's other than the actual data into the SharePoint List destination. If that is the case, that will not really work as the lookup contains hundreds of rows. Not too mention
    I have several of these lookup column types pointing to several different lists.
    Any guidance in how I can put data into a SharePoint Lookup column type via Data Flow Task would be so much appreaciated.
    Thank you.
    My errors are:
    Error: 0x0 at Data Flow Task, SharePoint List Destination: Error on row ID="1": 0x1 - Unspecified error, such as too many items being updated at once (batch), or an invalid core field value.

    I have found a solution to my problem and thought I would share it here in case there are others who are struggling with the above scenario. If you have a better way, I would love to hear about it since my way is a bit tedious.
    In a nutshell, in order to have an SSIS package put data from an OLE DB Source into a SharePoint List Destination Lookup Column, you need to pass the ID of the value that is being looked up, not the value that is in the “master” OLE DB source.
    Rough explanation, OLE DB Source value for column “Approp” is “4005” --> SQL matches “4005” with the ID in the new lookup table (“4005” = ID “5” as defined in the SharePoint lookup list) --> “5” gets passed into SharePoint List destination lookup
    column --> SharePoint displays “4005” and successfully links to the lookup list.
    Funny thing (not really), the error(s) outlined in my original post are not related in getting data into a SharePoint Lookup column as I am now successful in getting data into the system but I am still getting the same above error(s). I think it has to do
    with the ID column in the SharePoint list destination. What I can’t seem to figure out is why since I am not linking any data to that ID column (at least on new records). I am however linking it on Update and Delete and the errors mentioned above disappear
    and things work well.
    There are three tasks that need to get done in order to get data from SQL into a SharePoint lookup column assuming you have already set up your SharePoint lookup lists:
    1. Create new lookup table(s) in SQL that has the IDs from the SharePoint Lookup list and the values coming from the “master” OLD DB Source. You can see the ID column in SharePoint by toggling it on in a view.
    2. Create a SQL command that JOINs all the databases and tables so that the ID is passed and not the value into the SharePoint lookup column
    3. Change the “Data access mode” to “SQL Command” instead of the “Table or view” in the OLE DB Source and paste your command into the “SQL command text:” area.
    Other helpful info is that you may also need to add additional columns in the new lookup tables in SQL for the scenarios when the data is not unique. You can see this two times in my SQL command example for Units and JobTitles:
    SELECT
    pps.SSNm,
    pps.file_updated,
    pps.Employee_id,
    /* pps.CheckDistNm,*/
    Check_Distribution_id = COALESCE( d.ID, 0 ),
    pps.Job_nbr,
    pps.SeqNm,
    pps.action_eff_dt,
    Fund_id = COALESCE( f.id, 0 ),
    Appropriation_id = COALESCE( ap.id, 0 ),
    ActionCode_id = COALESCE( ac.id, 0 ),
    SpecNumber_id = COALESCE( jt.ID, 0 ),
    pps.Employee_id,
    /* pps.Fund,
    pps.Approp,
    pps.Unit,*/
    Unit_id = COALESCE( u.ID, 0 ),
    PosNm,
    PosCode,
    pps.LastName,
    pps.FirstName,
    pps.MI
    FROM
    x_PPS.aReportVw.pps_screens_active AS pps
    LEFT OUTER JOIN dbo.DistributionNumbers AS d ON
    pps.CheckDistNm = d.Check_Distribution
    LEFT OUTER JOIN dbo.Units AS u ON
    pps.Fund = u.Fund AND
    pps.Approp = u.Approp AND
    pps.Unit = u.Unit
    LEFT OUTER JOIN dbo.Appropriations AS ap ON
    pps.Approp = ap.Approp
    LEFT OUTER JOIN dbo.Funds AS f ON
    pps.Fund = f.Fund
    LEFT OUTER JOIN dbo.ActionCodes AS ac ON
    pps.ActionCode = ac.ActionCode
    LEFT OUTER JOIN dbo.JobTitles AS jt ON
    pps.SpecNm = jt.SpecNumber AND
    pps.JurisClass = jt.JurisClass

  • SharePoint Cross WebApplication Lookup Column

    I have created a custom lookup field. The column extends the default SharePoint Lookup column properties by adding extra fields in the custom editor control. The target is to create a lookup column based on any list available accross any web application
    in the farm. The problem is that after creating the column based on this field, in the newform.aspx or editform.aspx the the column is displayed with all the values in the lookup column dropdown but after saving, the lookup value is not getting stored. This
    happen only when the lookup list is in any other webapplication(or content database). If the list is in the current web application(content database) it works perfectly. I searched through google found through some article that lookup field has a limitation
    to work within a webapplication(content database). I Just want to confirm if this is the case or there is some workaround available. Below is a snap shot for my field editor control.
    reference :
    http://stefan-stanev-sharepoint-blog.blogspot.co.uk/2009/04/how-to-use-lookup-field-across.html

    Hi Anupam,
    If you want to do it programmatically, i suggest you create a custom field type:
    http://www.fewlines4biju.com/2011/04/how-to-create-custom-field-type-in.html
    Also, you can use SharePoint Choise field instead of Lookup field to achieve this. When you create a Choise field->go to SharePoint Designer->open the list newform.aspx/editform.aspx/dispform.aspx pages and modify them->create a data connection
    from SharePoint Designer to connect another web application list->set the dropdownlist datasource to the data connection

  • Infopath display lookup column value

    Hi
    I have a Infopath 2010 form with which displays an employee record. Some of the columns are lookup from a sharepoint list.
    How can I display the value of the lookup column instead of Id in the form.
    The form has the main connection and the secondary connection for the lookup sharepoint lists.
    The sharepoint lookup column is set to "Title" in additional column settings. Add a column to show each of the additional fields are all unchecked.
    I searched google, but couldnt find an answer.
    I tried to do the way described in http://sharepointsolutions.com/sharepoint-help/blog/2011/11/get-infopath-to-display-lookup-column-value-not-id/
    But get error , since it works for repeated table.
    Any Ideas?
    Thanks
    Venky

    Hi Venky,
    How did you create your look up  column? Which column type is the column which your look up column looks for?
    By my test, it is default behavior that the InfoPath form display the value of the lookup column.
    Thanks,

  • PowerShell: Update SharePoint multiple value lookup column?!

    Hi.
    I have some PowerShell scripts that access, update and insert data into various SharePoint 2010 lists. This all works nicely but there is one thing I'm having trouble with. I want to populate a lookup column in a list with multiple values. The column allows
    multiple values and has many such records inserted manually - but I cannot do this using PowerShell. I can update the lookup column using a single "ID" lookup value - but not with multiple values.
    I cannot find any documentation on how to do this using PowerShell. I have seen some examples (C#?) but there's little help in them.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you,

    Well, being impatient in nature, I did a lot of browsing and searching - and finally found a solution that works for me - in this thread:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/winserverpowershell/thread/3788a0ff-7011-4aea-bcc6-96a276a50e60. Adapted
    to my code it looks like this:
    $spAssignment = Start-SPAssignment
    $spList = (Get-SPWeb -identity
    http://site.domain.com -AssignmentCollection $spAssignment).Lists["Tickets"]
    $spNew = $spList.Items.Add()
    $spNew["Title"] = $Title
    $spNew["Assigned To"] = $AssignID
    $spNew["Description"] = $Descr
    $spNew["Priority"] = $Priority

    $lookupentry1 = New-Object Microsoft.Sharepoint.SPFieldLookupValue(1,"Service 1")
    $lookupentry2 = New-Object Microsoft.Sharepoint.SPFieldLookupValue(2,"Service 2")
    $lookupentry3 = New-Object Microsoft.Sharepoint.SPFieldLookupValue(3,"Service 3")
    $multientry = New-Object Microsoft.Sharepoint.SPFieldMultiChoiceValue($null)
    $multientry.Add($lookupentry1)
    $multientry.Add($lookupentry2)
    $multientry.Add($lookupentry3)
