SharePoint REST API and Asset Library Problem
Hi dear friends,
Im having an issue about posting videos via rest to asset library and i couldnt solve yet.
My main task is to migrate a content(according to the scenario its video) from one farm to another.For that i've planned to use Rest API using server side(c#).While
any other kind of document types(images,texts) are migrated successfully,videos are giving me hard time.
I think theres something special going on while creating videos in an asset library,right?
When i post video as byte array it creates video as .mp4 file but the content type displayed as "Image".I followed this guide : https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/dn292553.aspx and
couldnt find a way.
Can someone give me a sample code or help me solve this issue? Looking forward help from SharePointers who worked with rest api :)
Thanks
You can look at this link to help you set the metadata using REST.

Accessing sharepoint REST api using S2S authentication
Hi, I'm trying to access the SharePoint REST APIs (One-Drive for business) using the access token retrieved from S2S authentication flow (https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/dn645543.aspx).
Currently, I'm getting the following exception:
he server was unable to process the request due to an internal error. For more information about
the error, either turn on IncludeExceptionDetailInFaults (either from ServiceBehaviorAttribute or from the <serviceDebug> configuration behavior) on the server in order to send the exception information back to the client, or turn on tracing as per the
Microsoft .NET Framework SDK documentation and inspect the server trace log
Is this scenario (app auth instead of delegate auth) support for those set of APIs?
ThanksHi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to access SharePoint Online One-Drive for business API using OAuth 2.0 authentication.
In summary, Rest API can work with OAuth 2.0 authentication.
Here are some detailed articles about access Rest API with OAuth 2.0 authentication:
OAuth 2.0 Compliant REST API
Securing RESTful Web Services with OAuth2
About accessing One-Drive for business with Rest API, you can refer the article below:

About the error message, I suggest you can use Fiddler to track the web request to find detailed message:

REST API and best bets / query rules
Is there a bug in this? I can not get best bet results regardless of the query string. For example, the following (according to MSDN documentation) should process the query rules and return a best bet. But it doesnt. Am I doing something
wrong in the query? It only seems to return ordinary results. Performing the same search via Sharepoint's UI returns the best bet at the top.
$.ajax({
url: "http://myserver/sites/mysite/_api/search/query/?processbestbets=true&enablequeryrules=true&querytext='" + searchText + "'",
type: 'GET',
headers: {
"accept": "application/json; odata=verbose"
success: myCallback,
error: function(data) {
alert(data.responseXML.text);Hi Scott,
With EnableQueryRules and ProcessBestBets set to true in the search rest api, we can get the promoted results(best bets) in SharePoint 2013.
I recommend to type the search rest api URL in the browser directly and then check if the best bets are displayed at the top of the search results.
It will not displayed inside the table for normal results.
Please also make sure that the query text matches the query rule condition.
Thanks,

Sharepoint REST api - subtask filtering
Hi - I am using REST to retrieve the contents of a sharepoint list (via ODATA)
However, the results I am getting back include not only tasks but also subtasks - how can I filter out subtasks, as I'm not interested in them? Thanks!Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to get only parent tasks using Rest API.
In the task list, there is a field named "ParentID" to distinguish the task and sub task, if the field is null then it is the parent task.
http://<sitecollectionpath>/_api/Web/Lists/getByTitle('TaskListName')/Items/?$filter=ParentID eq null

Office 365 Files REST API and chunked upload
Hello,
I am currently working on integration with OneDrive for Business and I need to upload large files in chunks. I need to do something like this but using
the O365 Files REST API. As far as I understand this is currently not supported.
Are there any plans to support
uploading in chunks? If yes, can you please provide some (rough) estimate?
Thanks
AndreyThank you for the quick answer!
We are trying to upload the files using javascript and we are currently working with this API:
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/office/office365/api/files-rest-operations
We have also noticed that the roadmap for Office 365
http://roadmap.office.com/en-us contains SharePoint API Partial File Upload Support.
Does the update pointed in the roadmap refer to the API we are using? Or if you are saying we can already do chunked upload using it, can you please point us to a working sample?
Thanks

[SOLVED] Arch64, Opera and plugins library problem
I have Arch64 with Opera 64-bit as default browser. I have succesfully installed 32-bit flashplugin and it works nicely. The only problem is that fonts cannot be read from the flash player context menu and Open File dialog opened from flash player. The problem is that flashplugin tries to load 64-bit GTK from /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/ and it fails. 32-bit version is installed and it's located in /opt/lib32/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/.
Gtk-WARNING **: /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/engines/libmurrine.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64
Gtk-WARNING **: /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/engines/libpixmap.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64
Also I have library loading problem with totem-plugin. It cannot find libxul.so and libxpcom.so, but both library files are located in /usr/lib/xulrunner-1.9.0.1/. The plugin loads fine if I create links to both files in /usr/lib/. But that doesn't seem like right solution to me.
$ ldd libtotem-mully-plugin.so
libglib-2.0.so.0 => /usr/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0 (0x00007f94e19d9000)
libtotem-plparser-mini.so.10 => /usr/lib/libtotem-plparser-mini.so.10 (0x00007f94e17d6000)
libxul.so => not found
libxpcom.so => not found
libplds4.so => /usr/lib/libplds4.so (0x00007f94e15d2000)
What would be a most elegant way of solving these two library loading problems?
I think that symbolic links and moving files are not the most elegant way to solve the problem. Maybe some environment variable or some configuration setting would solve the problem (LDPATH comes to mind, but it seems that it doesn't work).
EDIT: I wasn't sure in which section to post this question, so feel free to move it if necessary.
Last edited by SnapShot (2008-09-12 02:50:01)I have solved my problem and I will post my solution because it can be usefull to others.
First the problem with flashplugin and GTK library path. Opera uses operapluginwrapper scirpt to detect if the plugin is 32-bit or 64-bit and after detection it uses operapluiginwrapper-ia32-linux for 32-bit or operapluginwrapper-native for 64-bit plugins. operapluiginwrapper-ia32-linux loads the 32-bit flashplugin in my case which requires GTK, but it incorectly tries to load it form /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/ where 64-bit version of GTK resides.
The solution is to set the GTK_PATH environment variable to point to /opt/lib32/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/ where 32-bit version resides. But if you set it globaly it will result in problems with other 64-bit applications. So the correct solution is to add following lines on the bottom of the operapluginwrapper script above the exec line:
case "$wrapper" in
*ia32*)
export GTK_PATH="/opt/lib32/usr/lib/gtk-2.0"
export PANGO_RC_FILE="/opt/lib32/config/pango/pangorc"
esac
In this way the 32-bit paths will be active only for operapluginwrapper-ia32-linux process.
I have solved the other problem with totem-plugin requesting libxul.so and libxpcom.so, but the solution idoesn't matter because, although totem-plugin loads coreclty it doesn't work in opera. I have installed mplayer-plugin which works as it should. Also gecko-mediaplayer works correctly with opera, I have tested them both. Install one of the two plugins that work, and you will be fine. -
Sharepoint REST API - Bug in Sharepoint

Newbie - JSP and TAG library problem
I am trying to execute a JSP program on a server with
jakarta-tomcat-4.1.29.
Here is a program:
<%@ taglib uri="testTagURL" prefix="testTagPrefix" %>

in web.xml I have definition:
<taglib>
<taglib-uri>testTagURL</taglib-uri>
<taglib-location>/WEB-INF/tld/testTag.tld</taglib-location>
</taglib>
I have testTag.tld file located at: /WEB-INF/tld
When I execute my program I am getting:
org.apache.jasper.JasperException: File "/test-jsp/testTagURL" not

My question: how come my program is looking for "/test-jsp/testTagURL" and
not for "/WEB-INF/tld/testTag.tld"?
Thanks,
Zalekmeans what it says.
If you look in the file WEB-INF/displaytag.tld you'll see it
has a definition for a custom tag, I'm guessing it's called column.
The tld states that this tag has an attribute called "value". ie that
in a jsp file you would write
<display:column value="SomeSuperValue" /> However the java class that implements that custom tag
does not have a setter method for value. ie. the class
org.displaytag.tags.ColumnTag is missing the method
public void setValue(String value) { .... } -
Is there any REST API to get all the Site and site Collections from Sharepoint Online
Hi,
I have one SharePoint Online tenant. We are using REST API to integrate SharePoint to our internal System.
For my use case I need to get all the SharePoint sites ans Sitecollections. From each SiteCollection I need all the subsites under this.
I have used below REST Query
http://<Base site url>/_api/web
This doesn't give me all the Site collections
Could any one please give me some way to get all the Site collections and sites from my sharepoint tenant through REST API.
Thanks,Hi Abhiram,
There seems no such endpoint in SharePoint REST API can retrieve a list of site collections in a SharePoint Online tenant:
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/jj860569.aspx#Reference
If Client Object Model can be an option for you, you can use Tenant object to achieve what you want:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/24050.perform-basic-admin-operations-using-csom-in-sharepoint-online.aspx#Scenario_3_Fetch_All_Site_Collections
Anyway, I would suggest you submit a feedback to the Office Developer Platform if there any expectation about the future version of REST API of Office 365 SharePoint
Online:
http://officespdev.uservoice.com/
It
is a place for customers provide feedback about Microsoft Office products. What’s more, if a feedback is high voted there by other customers, it will be promising that Microsoft
Product Team will take it into consideration when designing the next version in the future.

Role Assignment Discovery Issue for Files and Folders through Sharepoint REST services
To preface, I am a decided Sharepoint newbie in every sense. I am trying to use the Sharepoint REST services (Sharepoint 2013) to walk the folder and file structure of my Sharepoint server and, determine as I go, the Role Assignments (and subsequently
Permissions) on those folders and files. I'm using an Administrator credentials and I'm actually able to successfully do it but I've run into some caveats. All the caveats begin with this; when I'm examining a folder, for example:
/_api/Web/GetFolderByServerRelativeUrl('/sites/cmisdev/Development')/ListItemAllFields
I receive either an empty list or an error response doc when following the link supplied for ListItemAllFields. When following that kind of link for folders, I either get:
<d:ListItemAllFields
m:null="true"
/>
or an error response document that says "The object specified does not belong to a list." When I hit the /ListItemAllFields endpoint for files, I receive a response with a link for Role Assignments which subsequently also works and I get the
info I need. So, is this a bug? Why does the link returned from Sharepoint work for files and not folders? So, google, google, google, and I discover that there is another possible way to get at the Role Assignments (and that the object does, indeed, belong
to a list!).
If I know the Title (or the guid) of the folder in question, I can use the following endpoint:
/_api/Web/Lists/GetByTitle('Development')
If I use that endpoint, I get the information I would have expected to get from following /ListItemAllFields and the subsequent Role Assignments links all work and I get what I need. If there's a bug and this is how I have to work around it, that's fine
but I have yet to discover how to dynamically determine the Title of a given folder nor am I sure if all Titles are supposed to be unique within a given Sharepoint server. I'm assuming that the folder name as represented in the server relative URL and the
Title may be different and this is where my newbishness may start to shine if I'm misunderstanding what a "List" is supposed to be in Sharepoint. Anyway, I did find that I could use the Properties endpoint to perhaps get the Title, for example:
/_api/Web/GetFolderByServerRelativeUrl('/sites/cmisdev/Development')/Properties
gives me:
<d:vti_x005f_listtitle>Development</d:vti_x005f_listtitle>
whose value I assume I could then supply to the /GetByTitle endpoint and be golden. However, "vti_x005f_listtitle" just sounds a little too deep to be something I should be relying on but maybe that's kosher. That's part of what I'm trying to
find out. Also, if there is a way to use the Sharepoint REST API to discover the guid of a given object, then I could look it up in that way.
So, in summary:
1. Am I going about getting folder Role Assignment information in the wrong way? Based on the CSOM examples I've seen, I believe I'm doing it correctly and that the answer to #2 below is a resounding "Yes!" :)
2. Is it a bug if I'm not able to use /ListItemAllFields on folders using the server relative url?
3. If I'm supposed to use GetByTitle as a workaround, am I discovering that Title correctly through /Properties? Seems quite circuitous and awkward. Are Titles required to be unique throughout a given Sharepoint server?
4. If I'm supposed to use the guid, how can I use the REST interface to discover an object's guid? Once we get down to the Role Assignments and other links, the guid appears in those links but I don't know how to discover it independently if that's the
path I should use to get the data I described above.Upon further research, I'll answer my own question for the benefit of some other potential future newbie. The answer to question number 1 above is "Not exactly.". The server relative URLs I was using corresponded to lists (which are
returned as a collection through /_api/web/lists). I was treating them mentally like regular folders. That, coupled with the fact that accessing their data as I showed above returns a ListItemAllFields link, made me think that was the way to get
the Role Assignments just as I would for files and, as it turns out, "real" folders and sub-folders created under these lists. That was the other problem with thinking of these lists as regular folders. So, ListItemAllFields works on
all files and folders in a list. However, if you want Role Assignments for the lists themselves, you can keep track of the Titles and\or Guids from the /_api/web/lists that you're interested in (in my case, all non-hidden "document library"
type lists) and then access those Role Assignments as I discussed in questions 3 and 4 above. For example, from the /_api/web/lists collection from my test server, the "Development" document library Role Assignments are accessable via /_api/Web/Lists(guid'cd242eeb-aafa-4efa-aecc-9bbdf8e3d459')/RoleAssignments
or /_api/Web/Lists/GetByTitle('Development')/RoleAssignments. -

Sharepoint break REST API connection (anonymous), possible bug in sharepoint
Hello, I have following problem when I test Rest API using fiddler :
As i see, server just close connection and does not return any status code at all. I expect to see at least 401 or 500 exception. Is that SharePoint
bug, or this is expected behavior of the SharePoint? (according HTTP protocol & according SharePoint Rest API )
Web application settings and site collection settings:Hi,
Can you access the site from browser?
If you can, would you mind providing more details about how you execute your request? Anonymous or with credential?
How about setting the “Anonymous Access” to “Anonymous users can access Entire Web site”? It would allow anonymous users access the site.
Feel free to reply if the issue still exists.

Office 365 Files REST API - Get direct children in the root of the default document library
I'm trying to work with Office 365 Files REST API which works just fine except one thing that I'm struggling with.
What I need for my application is to make an explorer like browse capability for OneDrive for business Document Library.
My problem is that I don't know how to get the direct children in the root of the Document library
The API request
GET ../_api/files will
retrieve all files and folders in the default document library, including files and folders from sub-directories.
What I need is basically the functionality of the API request
GET ../_api/files(<folder_path>)/Children
that works also for the root folder of the Document library. The problem is that I couldn't find a way set <folder_path> as the root folder.
I found out that the API call ../_api/web/getfolderbyserverrelativeurl(<folder_server_relative_path>)/Folders and _api/web/getfolderbyserverrelativeurl(<folder_server_relative_path>)/Files works as expected resulting the only the direct
children of the root folder if the folder_server_relative_path is the path of the document library. The problem with this API call is that it's requires server relative path of the (default) document library (which i don't have) and the result has a different
schema compared to the ../_api/files REST API call.
Can somebody help me with this problem?
DavidFirst thanks for the fast answer. Let me explain my use case in more details.
I'm trying to work with the new summer release of the
Office 365 API tool for Visual Studio 2013 (update 3)
I found no reasonable way to retrieve the direct children of the root folder from my One Drive for business Document Library using the newly added SharePointClient library.
The API call of `SharePointClient.Files` will retrieve all the files and folders from the whole document library including sub-folders. So in order to get only the direct children I have to page through all the documents and folders and analyze their URL, which
is not acceptable for my application scenario. For a sub-folder I can get the direct children like this: `SharePointClient.Files["<folder_id>"].ToFolder().Children` This is what I need but it can't be applied to the root folder.
So what I did I've checked what REST API calls this library makes and I've tried to find out if there is a way to achieve my goal at least using direct REST API call. It seems like the functionality is missing from the REST API itself.
The http://site
url/_api/web/lists/GetByTitle(‘libraryname’)/items API call also retrieves all the items hierarchy from the library (including items from sub-folders) and the result XML "schema" (fields and the meaning of the ID) differs from the one used
by the calls by SharePointClient library. (for example the "Id" is a number when the /items is called but when
/_api/files is called the "Id" is the relative path to the document library)
Basically what I need can be achieved with the call to http://site url/_api/web/lists/GetByTitle(‘libraryname’)/rootfolder/files and http://site
url/_api/web/lists/GetByTitle(‘libraryname’)/rootfolder/folders but again the schema of the result differs from the one used in SharePointClient
library. This means that in order to get the direct children of the root I will need to re-implement a good part of the SharePointClient library. It seams like there is 2 kind of REST API is implemented. ( missing "Id" and "url"
fields, etc)
Also there is no convenient way to get the Name or the GUID of the default document library which the SharePointClient.Files
(https://site_url/_api/file) automatically
uses. The DiscoveryContext.DiscoverCapability for "MyFiles" doesn't gives any hint either.

Sharepoint-Hosted App giving FORBIDDEN error when i use REST Api
Hi,
I have created a sharepoint hosted app which will create Team site on button click.
I used REST Api and NAPA Tool to develop this app.
Napa tool gives to things ClientWebpart.aspx and Default.aspx.
When i run my Default.aspx code is working fine but ClientWebpart.aspx is giving FORBIDDEN error when i am trying to create site.
Below is the code which i used to create site
code:
var hostweburl;
var appweburl;

hostweburl= decodeURIComponent(getQueryStringParameter("SPHostUrl"));
appweburl = decodeURIComponent(getQueryStringParameter("SPAppWebUrl"));
function createSPWeb() {
$.ajax(
url: appweburl +
"/_api/SP.AppContextSite(@target)/web/webinfos/add?@target='" +
hostweburl + "'",
type: "POST",
data: JSON.stringify(

NOTE:This is on sharepoint online.
Please help
Regards,
sudeepSo in the app you are testing, are you using the FQDN or the NetBIOS name? Bad practice but could you test with both (hard code the absolute URL for testing purposes) then retest your app?
If you are making a web part based on the new app model this will be an "app part" and probably have the same issues you are experiencing. If this is for something internal rather than a product you are developing to resell then the script editor /
content editor web part approach could work for you.
