SharePoint Search Result Source Filter By Variance
Hi,
I want to get pages library data by language (English and German). I have created two result source in sharepoint search. In Query transform I have given below condition. But it is not filtering data as per language wise. I only want to get English variance
site data in EnglishResultSource1 and German variance site data in GermanResultSource2.
EnglishResultSource1
{searchTerms} contentclass=STS_ListItem_850 -Path=http://spe2013dev5:1111/en-us/
GermanResultSource2
{searchTerms} contentclass=STS_ListItem_850 -Path=http://spe2013dev5:1111/de-de/
But in result source it is not filtering data by path wise.
How can I filter by language/locate wise?
Can any one help me?

Filter/refine sharepoint search result
Hi All,
I have the following scenario.
I'm working on Sharepoint online 2013. I need to filter Search based on a dropdown list in the page. I want the search webpart to read value from dropdown , add it to the url and filter results based on it . This drop down is not a part of Refinement web
part. How can I achieve this ?
Thanks for your helpYou can either create a custom control template which has the logic and appends the selection to the query, or add custom html/script which adds a URL parameter which you can pick up as a variable in a query template. You can read more about query variables

SharePoint search results not showing padlock to document icon
Hi,
We have an application in which we have activated In place record management. this feature gives us possibility to make documents as records.

Result Source - Filter results by Managed Property equals "this year"
Hello guys,
I've been trying to filter a Managed Property (yearOWS) equals a current year (2014).
If I use yearOWS=2014 or yearOWS="2014" it works fine, but I need to filter by current year.
I read this post > Keyword Query Language (KQL) syntax reference, but I don't know how to use "this year". I've tried {this year}, ("this year")
and a lot of ways, but none of them worked.
Can anyone, please, help me?

Hi,
I want to setup an outpund hybrid search for SharePoint 2013 on-premise to SharePoint Online.
But I'm not shure if this works with ADFS SSO.
Has somebody experience with this setup?
Here's my guide which I'm going to use for this installation:
Introduction
In this post I'll show you how to get search results from your SharePoint Online in your SharePoint 2013 on-premise search center.
Requirements
User synchronisation ActiveDirectory to Office 365 with DirSync
DirSync password sync or ADFS SSO
SharePoint Online
SharePoint 2013 on-premise
Enterprise Search service
SharePoint Online Management Shell
Instructions
All configuration will be done either in the Search Administration of the Central Administration or in the PowerShell console of your on-premise SharePoint 2013 server.
Set up Sever to Server Trust
Export certificates
To create a server to server trust we need two certificates.
[certificate name].pfx: In order to replace the STS certificate, the certificate is needed in Personal Information Exchange (PFX) format including the private key.
[certificate name].cer: In order to set up a trust with Office 365 and Windows Azure ACS, the certificate is needed in CER Base64 format.
First launch the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager
Select your SharePoint web server and double-click Server Certificates
In the Actions pane, click Create Self-Signed Certificate
Enter a name for the certificate and save it with OK
To export the new certificate in the Pfx format select it and click Export in the Actions pane
Fill the fields and click OK Export to: C:\[certificate
name].pfx Password: [password]
Also we need to export the certificate in the CER Base64 format. For that purpose make a right-click on the certificate select it and click on View...
Click the Details tab and then click Copy to File
On the Welcome to the Certificate Export Wizard page, click Next
On the Export Private Key page, click Next
On the Export File Format page, click Base-64 encoded X.509 (.CER), and then click Next.
As file name enter C:\[certificate
name].cer and then click Next
Finish the export
Import the new STS (SharePoint Token Service) certificate
Let's update the certificate on the STS. Configure and run the PowerShell script below on your SharePoint server.
if(-not (Get-PSSnapin "Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell" -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue)){Add-PSSnapin "Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell"}
# set the cerficates paths and password
$PfxCertPath = "c:\[certificate name].pfx"
$PfxCertPassword = "[password]"
$X64CertPath = "c:\[certificate name].cer"
# get the encrypted pfx certificate object
$PfxCert = New-Object System.Security.Cryptography.X509Certificates.X509Certificate2 $PfxCertPath, $PfxCertPassword, 20
# import it
Set-SPSecurityTokenServiceConfig -ImportSigningCertificate $PfxCert
Type Yes when prompted with the following message.
You are about to change the signing certificate for the Security Token Service. Changing the certificate to an invalid, inaccessible or non-existent certificate will cause your SharePoint installation to stop functioning. Refer
to the following article for instructions on how to change this certificate: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=178475. Are you
sure, you want to continue?
Restart IIS so STS picks up the new certificate.
& iisreset
& net stop SPTimerV4
& net start SPTimerV4
Now validate the certificate replacement by running several PowerShell commands and compare their outputs.
# set the cerficates paths and password
$PfxCertPath = "c:\[certificate name].pfx"
$PfxCertPassword = "[password]"
# get the encrypted pfx certificate object
New-Object System.Security.Cryptography.X509Certificates.X509Certificate2 $PfxCertPath, $PfxCertPassword, 20
# compare the output above with this output
(Get-SPSecurityTokenServiceConfig).LocalLoginProvider.SigningCertificate
[/code]
## Establish the server to server trust
[code lang="ps"]
if(-not (Get-PSSnapin "Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell" -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue)){Add-PSSnapin "Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell"}
Import-Module MSOnline
Import-Module MSOnlineExtended
# set the cerficates paths and password
$PfxCertPath = "c:\[certificate name].pfx"
$PfxCertPassword = "[password]"
$X64CertPath = "c:\[certificate name].cer"

New-SPTrustedSecurityTokenIssuer -MetadataEndpoint "https://accounts.accesscontrol.windows.net/metadata/json/1/" -IsTrustBroker -Name "ACS"
Add a new result source
To get search results from SharePoint Online we have to add a new result source. Run the following script in a PowerShell ISE session on your SharePoint 2013 on-premise server. Don't forget to update the settings region
if(-not (Get-PSSnapin "Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell" -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue)){Add-PSSnapin "Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell"}
# region settings
$RemoteSharePointUrl = "http://[example].sharepoint.com"
$ResultSourceName = "SharePoint Online"
$QueryTransform = "{searchTerms}"
$Provier = "SharePoint-Remoteanbieter"
# region settings end
$SPEnterpriseSearchServiceApplication = Get-SPEnterpriseSearchServiceApplication
$FederationManager = New-Object Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Administration.Query.FederationManager($SPEnterpriseSearchServiceApplication)
$SPEnterpriseSearchOwner = Get-SPEnterpriseSearchOwner -Level Ssa
$ResultSource = $FederationManager.GetSourceByName($ResultSourceName, $SPEnterpriseSearchOwner)
if(!$ResultSource){
Write-Host "Result source does not exist. Creating..."
$ResultSource = $FederationManager.CreateSource($SPEnterpriseSearchOwner)
$ResultSource.Name = $ResultSourceName
$ResultSource.ProviderId = $FederationManager.ListProviders()[$Provier].Id
$ResultSource.ConnectionUrlTemplate = $RemoteSharePointUrl
$ResultSource.CreateQueryTransform($QueryTransform)
$ResultSource.Commit()
Add a new query rule
In the Search Administration click on Query Rules
Select Local SharePoint as Result Source
Click New Query Rule
Enter a Rule name f.g. Search results from SharePoint Online
Expand the Context section
Under Query is performed on these sources click on Add Source
Select your SharePoint Online result source
In the Query Conditions section click on Remove Condition
In the Actions section click on Add Result Block
As title enter Results for "{subjectTerms}" from SharePoint Online
In the Search this Source dropdown select your SharePoint Online result source
Select 3 in the Items dropdown
Expand the Settings section and select "More" link goes to the following URL
In the box below enter this Url https://[example].sharepoint.com/search/pages/results.aspx?k={subjectTerms}
Select This block is always shown above core results and click the OK button
Save the new query ruleHi Janik,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to display hybrid search results in SharePoint Server 2013.
For achieving your demand, please have a look at the article:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn197173(v=office.15).aspx
If you are using single sign-on (SSO) authentication, it is important to test hybrid Search functionality by using federated user accounts. Native Office 365 user accounts and Active Directory Domain Services
(AD DS) accounts that are not federated are not recognized by both directory services. Therefore, they cannot authenticate using SSO, and cannot be granted permissions to resources in both deployments. For more information, see Accounts
needed for hybrid configuration and testing.

Sending search box query text as is to opensearch result source.
I have a Sharepoint online 2013 subscription. I created a Sharepoint site and configured a search result source, search result query for a custom opensearch backend. I want to pass the search query entered by user as is without any transformations to opensearch
backend,but everytime user enters search criteria SharePoint is transforming it to KQL before sending it to opensearch backend. Is their a way to bypass all these transformations and send search query as it is ?Hi Ram,
Here is an article which describes how to integrate Bing to SharePoint (online) 2013 search:
http://www.jasperoosterveld.com/2013/05/integrate-bing-with-sharepoint-online-2013-search/
If you refer to the How the search system processes a query part in the article below:
https://technet.microsoft.com/library/jj219620(v=office.15)#HowQueryProc
You will find out that before "Sending the query to the search index or another search provider", search system will be "Parsing the query and creating a query syntax tree for internal use" and "Processing the query linguistically
by performing word breaking, stemming, spelling correction, and synonym expansion".
Sometimes we could put query words in Double Quotes, so that search system will treat them as an entity. If this still doesn't solve your issue, please explain more about your issue or make an example.

Customize search result types in SharePoint 2013
Hi
I want to create the new Search Result types based on existing "List SharePoint Item" result type. I know how to do it manually . But i want it to automate it. can i do it using powershell script? is there anything available or somebody tried anything
in this direction?
So my requirement is bascially create the Result type with custom display template. Please suggest how to do using powershell script or sharepoint object model.
ThanksHi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to create search result source programmatically in SharePoint 2013.
Here are some links about creating search result source programmatically for you to take a look:

but it returns only 8 results from RSS. i want to get all results of search and display it in my SharePoint search results page.
any pointers will be helpful.Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to search result to get data from bing search and displayed it in sharepoint page.
To display more items, you can modify the item number when you add
New Query Rule.
To get all results, I recommend to use the “Show More”
link in the result page.
You can enter the URL when you add New Query Rule:
"More" link goes to the following URL: http://www.bing.com/search?q={searchterms}

SharePoint Online (2013) - Add Result Source
Sorry for starting a new thread - but the others all seemed to go off into space with no real answer.
I only want local sharepoint sources in my results.
I want to exclude/include specific paths.
Lets start with a simple request:
Exclude all site collections except for two sites:
Step 1 - Add new Result Source:
Protocol = Local SharePoint
Type = SharePoint Search results.
use Query Builder.
{searchTerms} -Path=https://xxxxxx.sharepoint.com/sites/xxxxx/xxxxx*
When I do a test NOTHING has been excluded. I would like to do the following:
{searchTerms} -Path=https://xxxxxx.sharepoint.com/sites/* [NOTE: exlude everything]
Path=https://xxxxxx.sharepoint.com/sites/sitecollection1/site5/* [Include site 5]
Path=https://xxxxxx.sharepoint.com/sites/sitecollection2/site3/* [Include site 3]
Question1: Should this approach work?
Question2: Should my include statements come before the exclude or after the exclude?
Question3: Why is my very simple statement not working when I click on Test?
BTW, When I click on test I still get hits across all site collections and sites. The exclude seems to do nothing.
HELP!! This should be simple.
By the way, I think the search approach is very simple. A little more documentation would be nice.

Display Like and Share functionality in SharePoint 2013 search result
Hello Experts,
I dont Know whether i am asking a good question or bad one . but i am not very much expert in search.
I have to display No of Likes , Share functionality in SharePoint Search Results.
i know little basic about how display templates works. i want to implement these like and share functionality as actions in Item_common_hoverpanel_Actions template. show that i can see in preview.
please if any body can help me . i will be highly thankful to you.
MukeshThis will be difficult. The number of likes has a managed property called LikesCount but it is not populated by the search crawler. So your JavaScript will have to read the "LikesCount" field of the corresponding list item. That would be a
lot of code to execute in the item display template just to display the number of likes. You could have a button that displayed a callout that would get the information and display it. The Sharing could be done via JavaScript in your item display template
using a REST call. You can see an example of code to do that here:
http://sharepointfieldnotes.blogspot.com/2014/09/sharing-documents-with-sharepoint-rest.html?showComment=1428595550241#c3227376854590814312
Just remember the user must have permission to share these documents, so your code will have to handle this.

How to limit search results to a single web
This is probably an easy one to figure out, but I wonder what the best way would be to limit search results from a single web - do you create a content source for that or is there a better way, one which you can configure for multiple search site collections?
Hi,
In SharePoint 2013, we can create content resource for Search Service Application, site collection and site as below:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj683115(v=office.15).aspx
If you are using Search related web part, you could create content resource in site collection and build query to path=http://webapplication*. Then configure web part to use the specific content resource. Please check the link below, the link is for creating
content resource in SSA, you could go to site settings > site collection > search result sources.
http://techmikael.blogspot.com/2013/04/limiting-search-results-in-sharepoint.html
However, I’d recommend you using property filter to limit search results to one web application. Please try the steps below:
Build your query.
Basics > query text, input path:http://sp:26* (this limit search results to web application sp:26)
Click test query and see if it return results.

Please help me out
Thanks in advanceHi Moorthy,
can you please enable below setting to get search result for anonymous access.
To get rid of it please do the following.
Under the SharePoint Site go to Site Settings. Search Administration -> Search and offline availability -> Indexing ASPX Page Content, Enable the option "Always index all
Web Parts on this site"
Under Search Service Application, do a Full Crawl for the content source to resolve this issue.
see below link for more details

Hope this will help you.

Soni K
