Sharing administrator rights with a contact in a g...

I've set up a popular group chat used by lots of contacts at work. When I am on vacation, my boss wants to be able to add or delete people from this group chat. But I'm not sure how to share with him the rights to do this. How do you share group chat administrative rights with another contact?

Yes please - I'm having the same issue. How do I give another member administration rights?

  • Allow a windows non-administrator user to run cmd.exe as administrator without sharing administrator password with the user

I have standalone Windows 2003 and 2008 Oracle database servers (they are not in a Windows domain environment ). The Oracle DBAs can perform all their routine activities from command line with administrator privileges. For this i've to either share administrator
user password with the Oracle DBAs or add their windows login user to Administrators group. If i can give the DBA user permission to run windows command prompt without sharing administrator password, i can give them non-administrator login access to Windows
2003/2008 server. Normally when a non administrator user would try to run a program as administrator on Windows 2008, the user is prompted to input administrator username/password. Is it possible to give non-admin user access to run a program/application (cmd.exe
in this case) on Windows 2003/2008 without sharing administrator credentials with them?

With the OTORISER application I developed, normal users can run applications with admin privilege …
Otoriser is totally free ! Applications, mmc consoles, control panel cpl files can be run under admin and system context with Otoriser. Let’s say you donot want your users to be admin in their machines, but want them to run some applications with admin rights.
If this is the case then you are on the right blog.
There are two components for Otoriser. Management and client components. There are no complex implementation and no frustrating steps to be performed. Within 10 minutes you can start testing the results
After you download the setup files, install client components in the client by running it directly (or any deployment method you have), it will take about 5 seconds to install it. Then, let’s say you want your user to change system properties of the machine.
With the tool provided in Admin package produce the hash of system.cpl file and enter that hash into the group policy (details are provided in documentation). When policies are applied for that user then he or she can run that control panel applet under admin
context but donot forget that the user is still an ordinary user.

  • Windows XP Administrator rights with Itunes

Help please... is it possible to use Itunes in Windows XP without being an administrator? My daughter and I both have Ipods and have different logon names with XP, I currently have to give her Administrator rights to update her Ipod and this is quite dangerous as she knows little about pc's and likes to experiment!
    hp pavilion f1904   Windows XP

itunes 7 gave me the same problem on my windows xp machine. before i upgraded to itunes 7, my ipod is recognized by itunes 6 when i dock it.
itunes 7 cannot see my ipod. Windows XP recognize my ipod when i pulg it in so I know my Ipod was not broken.
I went to apple store for some help and they are NO HELP. they only support Mac based Ipods. And suggested I purchase the phone support... YOU DONT NEED TO SPEND THAT MONEY if you paid for an IPOD.. it shoudl be working and if they released a new upgrade on softwares, it should be working on any machine they claim they support.
I tried puggin in my Ipod on an apple based machine with Itunes 7 and it worked.
I gave up Itunes 7 on my windows xp machine and re-installed the old Itunes 6. And it works FINE.

  • Picture not "right" with Photo Contacts on Phone Page

    Hello,
I have assigned a few pictures to some of the contacts on my iPhone 3G. However, they do not seem to act in the same way as the example on the Phone features page on the iPhone website.
What I mean by this is, when you look on the iPhone web pages, when making a call the picture appears at the top of the page above the screen detail that has the globe in the background and things such as mute, speaker, keypad etc. in the foreground. What I am talking about is illustrated here:
    http://www.apple.com/uk/iphone/features/phone.html
However, when I associate pictures to my contacts, when making a call the phone application does not act as illustrated above. Instead it replaces the globe in the background with the picture I have assigned to my contact and then overlays the foreground information (mute, speaker etc.) on top of it. I would definately prefer my phone to act along the lines of the illustration above instead of how it actually does. I don't like my loved ones picturess' covered over in this way :^)
Is there anything I can do to get the application to display and act as outlined in the example above as illustrated in the associated link? IS there something I should be doing to the pictures that I use that will make things work in this way?
I hope I've managed to explain my problem adequately. Any help anyone can give or pointers to a place that explains what I need to do would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Marcus

The ads and commercials show an iPhone that was synced with a Mac (go figure). In the Macs addresss book the user assigned a picture to the contact on the computer. Then synced. Synced photos from the computer will get the effect you are looking for as they come over as thumbnails.
I believe if you have the newest version of Outlook you can do the same, but not 100% sure. But as mentioned, you would have to assign the picture on the Computer and sync back.

You can continue to use the current AppleID for iTunes, but your husband can create a new AppleID to use to create a new iCloud account that will be his own and not overlap with yours.  If you do not have another email address to use for an AppleID, just get a free Gmail account and use that.
You can have as many AppleIDs as you want (or at least, as many as you have email addresses for).  You can use a separate AppleID for the store, another for iCloud, and even another for iMessage if you wish.
You will want to keep the current one as the shared one for the store as all your previous purchases are permanently tied to it, and thus you need that AppleID to update or redownload your current purchased content.

  • User with Farm Administrator rights, but NOT in Farm Administrators Group

I have an account that we recently discovered has Farm Administrator rights and was used to access Central Admin and cause some harm.  When I use the "Check Permissions" on the Central Admin site, it says that account has Full Control via
the Farm Administrators Group.  However, that account is not in the Farm Adminstrators group.
There is an entry in the Farm Administrators group for "BUILTIN\Administrators" and this account is in the Local Admin group on this server.  However, there are other accounts in the Local Admin group too, and when I "Check Permissions"
    for them, it returns 'None'.
I am confused as to how this one account has Farm Administration level access, while others in Local Admin do not, and how can I remove this accounts Farm Administration rights if it is NOT in the Farm Adminstrators Group?
What are the potential problems/issues if I remove the "BUILTIN\Administrators" entry from the Farm Adminstrators Group?
Thanks in advance for any feedback/help.

If you have BUILTIN\Administrators as part of the Farm Admins, any user that is a Local Administrator will have Farm Admin rights. SharePoint doesn't enumerate groups when checking permissions, so the behavior you're seeing is correct. If you do not want
Local Admins to have Farm Admin rights, remove BUILTIN\Administrators from the Farm Admins group in SharePoint.
There should not be any issue with removing the group from Farm Admins, only that users will need both rights to fully manage SharePoint.

  • Newly added contacts suddenly become strangers (not shared their details with you)

A newly added contact suddenly disappears after a few minutes, it's still present in my contact list, but with the gray question mark and "this person has not shared their details with you", even though in the conversation itself it says "<friend> has shared contact details with <myself>". On the other side, it seems like none of this is happening and my friend can still see my status as if I was their contact (which I am). After re-sending the contact request multiple times (which is instantly accepted, it doesn't seem to even display on my friend's side, he just instantly becomes my contact again) it seems to have sorted itself out and that person is now in my contacts, hopefully for good. Now yesterday I added a new contact and the same thing happens, she appears as a stranger about 10 minutes after accepting my contact request, even though it seemed fine on the mobile app while she was online, but now even mobile considers her as not part of my contacts, and also her profile picture isn't displaying on the mobile app. Note : there is already a thread about this in the Skype for Windows Desktop section, however since this problem has clearly nothing to do with the client you're using and is related to the platform/whatever software runs on Microsoft's servers, I'm reposting this here. Skype for Windows Desktop version 6.20.0.104 running on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, and Skype for iPhone version "idon'tknowwhat because there's no "about" page apparently" running on iOS 8.0.2, iPhone 5S. My Skype account isn't linked with any Facebook nor Microsoft account (it was, but it's been unlinked about two months ago). To avoid this thread the same fate as the linked one, that is becoming polluted by some smart-ass that believes everything is caused by a virus, corruption of the Skype folder in AppData or compromised account, let me state this right now : my password was changed, the account isn't compromised (checked with /showplaces and the only logged in clients are my desktop and my iPhone) and the AppData folder was already deleted, without success (it made things worse my making my entire contact list disappear for 24h, fortunately they slowly came back one by one), so if you have nothing to say please refrain from copy/pasting such useless answers.

Hi, I hope someone can help me.  I have a similar problem to Andre (from original post a week ago below).  I only use Skype to communicate with a personal friend who has recently been posted abroad (Europe) to work.  I always sign in via my Microsoft account and have done since Microsoft & Skype merged and I linked the two together.  My contact does the same.  As my accounts are linked, my friend shows up in my contacts both as a Skype contact and also a Messenger contact.  When we communicate, it is normally always via our Skype names although I can see them online under both names.  On Friday night however, they came online but shortly afterwards, I noticed that the grey question mark had appeared next to their Skype name saying 'Person has not shared their contact details with you'.  They are still showing up ok under their Messenger name as it appears as offline, so I have been a bit confused why this has happened and I haven't yet had a chance to speak to my friend to ask them.  I decided to look at the Skype help forum and came across this post by Andre who has had a similar problem, although he says it has happened with a couple of new contacts but his problem has now been resolved.  I was hoping someone could help me and give me some advice as to what I should do now.  I have checked my computer and have the latest Skype version for desktop installed.  I am using Internet Explorer 11; Windows 7 Home version - 64 bit.  I also have the Skype app on my android smartphone which has the most recent updated version.  I don't really use Skype on my phone although I did log-in on late Friday afternoon but didn't stay on long before I signed out.  I have read in posts in the past about corrupted files etc on Skype but because I don't know much about these things,  I don't like to mess about with the programs that are installed on my computer because I don't know what I'm doing. The person who responded to Andre's query was a staff moderator called Aimi, who had previously told him to send the name of the contact in question who had the grey question mark appear beside them.  I would be very grateful if someone could help me with this problem as I would like it sorted out as soon as possible please. Thanks, Linda F. AndréDaniel wrote:A newly added contact suddenly disappears after a few minutes, it's still present in my contact list, but with the gray question mark and "this person has not shared their details with you", even though in the conversation itself it says "<friend> has shared contact details with <myself>". On the other side, it seems like none of this is happening and my friend can still see my status as if I was their contact (which I am). • HT4859 I shared itunes account with my daughter, had never synced my phone with computer, synced with computer and chose daughter's phone instead of create new phone, all phone contacts are now gone replaced with daughter's - is there no way to get contac

I shared itunes account with daughter's phone, never synced my phone with home computer through itunes, synced tonight with itunes but choose her iphone and it restored all her info on my phone, all my phone contacts, text messages and photos are gone  - I had auto backup to icloud daily - is there any way to get phone numbers and texts back off icloud?

If you have been backing up to iCloud your camera roll photos, text messages and other data and setting should be contained in the backup.  Restoring the backup to the phone should recover them.
To do this, go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings (which will erase the phone), then go through the setup screens on the phone and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup and follow the prompts.  Be sure your phone is connected to wifi and your charger as this may take some time to finish.

  • Same user with administrative rights on all the servers in single domain versus domainadmin as a part of administrator group in all the servers

same user with administrative rights on all the servers in single domain user as a part of administrator group in all the servers:
same user is configured as administrator on all the servers in one domain at windows 2003 server. Should this user be made part of domain admin and then this can be set up in the group of administrator for all the servers.
    How this is technically different?
If same user is set up as an administrator on all the servers in domain, will it have the same access on all the files as a domain admin user?
    dhomya

If the account is not admin on the domaincontrollers and the account is not member of domain admins or any other privileged AD group, the account has only user privileges on AD and thus cannot perform actions like creating and managing  accounts,
groups, OUs,policies, sites, ...in other words cannot potentially ruin Active Directory.
I think that is a pretty big difference.
In fact, it is bad practice to perform you daily server management with an AD privileged account.
In regards of file access. The domain administrator will be just an admin, and thus has the privilies assigned to the local admin group, just as any other admin. But if it are different accounts they might be member of different groups assigning different
privileges. Always be carefull when assuming resulting privileges will be the same.

  • ActiveSync requiring administrative rights to synchronize data with Windows Communication apps

We are currently testing W8.1 Update 1 in our corporate environment and have run into an issue when attempting to synchronize the corporate exchange accounts with the Windows Communication apps (Mail, Calendar, People). The first problem we encountered was
the requirement for each user to log into a Microsoft account just to access the Communication apps, this was handled through GPO by enabling the "Allow Microsoft accounts to be optional" policy. We could then launch the application, were prompted
for exchange server information, but then upon attempting to synchronize received an error message stating that "To sync this account, you first need to make your Windows user account an administrator." Obviously we have no desire to make all of
our users administrators, but for the purpose of testing we added the user account to the administrators group. The same error message appears! A quick search revealed that changing the UAC to a lower setting would resolve the problem, and sure enough we then
received a prompt to Enforce Policies and synchronization completed.
This can't possibly be the intention, that every Windows 8 user using ActiveSync is required to be an administrator and has to lower the UAC. We did determine that once synchronization has been configured, the administrative rights can be removed and UAC
can be increased once again, but this is a ridiculous option.
I would really appreciate an explaination of the reasoning if this is infact the intended setup, and if it is not, then what we are doing wrong. Thank you.

    Hi,
In following article, you will see that the admin permission is required to do so:
Activesync Working But Only For Some Users On Exchange 2007 / 2010
    http://alanhardisty.wordpress.com/2010/03/05/activesync-not-working-on-exchange-2010-when-inherit-permissions-not-set/
Also, Microsoft's recommendation and best practice is that if you are a domain administrator that you have 2 accounts. One for your everyday user which is restricted in the same way that every other user is and a second for your administration role.

  • Secure, multi-section form with administrative rights

I want to create a form that has sections we'll call "yes", "no", and "maybe". Only one section is visible at any time, and only someone with administrative rights can choose which section is visible. Once the section is chosen and the form saved, that section cannot be changed by anyone without admin rights. Can this be done in Acrobat?
The proposed use process would go something like this:
    1. Admin receives order and pulls the form.
    2. Admin clicks "yes", "no", or "maybe" (tab? radio button?) to reveal the applicable section.
    3. Admin fills in some portions, saves the form, and passes it down the line.
    4. Down the line, the form is opened and the rest of the form is filled. If "yes", "no" or "maybe" is clicked, nothing happens because this user has no admin rights.
    5. The completed form is saved.
I know it would save a lot of effort to make three separate forms. The reason for the single, multi-section form is so the other two sections can be filled on a later date. This saves the effort of refilling the other parts of the form with same data, or changing same data on three separate forms. In addition, admin can open a filled form and click among the different sections to review each section off the one form.
Did that make sense? If so, can it be done in Acrobat?

Please also tell me if what I have in mind can't be done so I can stop chasing this idea.

Here is the solution I found.
"Renaming %program files%/Common Files/Adobe/updater5 to something else removed the error."
This seems like a brute force approach, but it does work. I checked the event logs after doing this and don't see any errors in the App or System logs. This folder is the location of AdobeUpdater.exe and all of the Adobe .cer files, so it makes sense that this works, but seems like it should generate other errors...
