Sharing an Indicator Value Across VI's

Hi all LabView rookie so go easy on me,
Basically I'm running a video in one VI using Windows Media Player and I extract the current position in the video using a Property Node which then writes this value to a double integer indicator. I want to share this indicator value across another VI whilst this video is running but I'm not sure how to do it. I'm pretty much using this to run the video:

Thanks for any help.

Dear cheemz,
Thank you for posting this to the user forums.  I took a look at your code and can offer a couple of tips & tricks.
At the end of the code you can expand the merge errors function to handle errors from multiple sources.  Note that the merge errors function does not concatenate errors; it returns the first error that it finds and if it finds no errors then it returns the first warning.
You should also place boolean controls inside their respective event structure to restore their latch mechanical action behaviour.
There may be a conflict from having the event structure timeout and the wait until next ms multiple function, so I would remove the wait until next ms multiple function from inside your while loop - it plays no role in the code.
You code does look very good though - well done!
As for the global variables issue - there is a chance that you can get race conditions with variables, so to try to mitigate this you should try to pass data around with global scope by using a functional global variable.  It stores the data in an uninitialised shift register; https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-2143
Since labVIEW is a dataflow language, a function only executes when all it's inputs have values and a function is only returned once all it's outputs have values.  The best way to force dataflow is to use the error cluster, so you could have an error in and error out as terminals in your subvi and make this the first thing that your main VI does (pass the error cluster).
I hope this information helps and you are enjoying using LabVIEW.
Kind Regards,

  • How to maintain pageFlowScope value across 2 japx??

    Hi All,
    How to maintain pageFlowScope values across the pages.
    In my application I got 2 jspx pages where the 1st page (result page) have two page fragments and no fragments in the 2nd page (Master Details page).
    I am triggering the 2nd jspx while clicking the continue button from the 1st jspx's 2nd fragment. I am using Java webservice DataControl in the model layer and both the pages sharing the same WS DC results. In the 2nd fragment I am displaying the user search result. While hitting the continue button I am collecting the selected userID and then triggering the 2nd jspx by passing the that userId thru pageFlowScope, which used to call the WS method once again.
    PageFlowScope losing the context while navigating to 2nd page. It is returning null value. If I remove 2nd page and create the new fragment in the first page itself then the master details is working well.
    Please help me how do I pass the pageFlowScope value from one page to other page without losing the value. I am using faces-config.xml for page navigation.
    Continue button Action method:
    public String userSelected() {
    FacesCtrlHierNodeBinding binding = (FacesCtrlHierNodeBinding) searchResultTable.getSelectedRowData();
    currentRow = binding.getRow();
    selectedNetID = (String) currentRow.getAttribute("netid");
    requestContext.getPageFlowScope().put("netid",selectedNetID);
    return "goToUserMgmt";
    Thanks
    kln

    I am not opening any new window for the 2nd jspx. Trying to open the 2nd jspx in the same window.
    I did the same as you mentioned.
    1) create first page idm.jspx
    2) create 1st page fragment search.jsff (Manually create the input fields...didnt drag and drop the WS DC input).
    3) create 2nd page fragment searchResult.jsff (drag and drop the WS DC result and setting #{pageFlowScope.netid} as value)
    4) create search-task-flow and attaching these 2 frag in it.
    5) Drag and drop the search-task-flow in to first page IDM as region.
    6) Creating 2nd page MasterDetails.jspx (Drag and drop the same WS DC result)
    7) Creating faces-config.xml where I drag and drop both the jspx and setting the navigation rule.
    (If continue from IDM.jspx then go to------>masterDetails.jspx)
    Here the String continue is return by the 1st page--2nd fragment continue button action method...
    This is what I am doing exactly....Any idea please why am I missing the pageFlowScope value!!!

  • Oracle SP for comparing 80 column values across 8 table pairs in 2 diff DBs

    Hi All,
    I have an Oracle SP for comparing 80 column values across 8 table pairs in 2 diff DBs.
    However, it is taking hell lot of time around 6hours to process 10,000 records.
    Can anyone suggest how to fine-tune this?
    Thanks guys.

    Tables prefixed with X are the temp tables to store data of DB-A.
    The report will be originally based on DB-B, so DB Links will not be required for @PROD1.WORLD tables.
    This is a test region, so I have pointed to @PROD1.WORLD to test with Prod Data.
    SEC_COMPARE_CONFIG is the config table containing the table_name to be reported, corresponding temp tables to store the data and the columns on which it is to be reported.
    There are in total 8 tables- 90 rows and 8 temp tables.
    SPOKE_TO_HUB_SEC_MTCH_TBL records the securities on which it is to be reported.
    HIST_DATA_COMPARE_TBL is the final results table.
    Here is the entire code:

    Hello there - I am sharing an iPhoto library across two accounts on the same computer - it works fine EXCEPT for Quicktime movies - they play on one account and claim I don't have the rights on the other - all permissions are on and ok?

    It should be in the Users/ Shared folder.
    Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Note the option to check and repair Library Permissions

  • Status list based on status lists.../ Indicator values always 0

    Hi, any help or thoughts would be appreciated.
    Basically what I'm doing is calculating status list values based on data in excel sheets. This seems to work as expected. I'll call these sub-status lists from now on.
    The next thing I wanted to do is have an "overview" status list that basically gives the status of each sub-status list. If there are any indicators in one of the sub-status lists that haven't met their goal (currently yellow or red), I want the
    indicator corresponding to that sub-status list in the overview status list to show as red.
    I've tried creating a new column in the sub-status lists called 'goal met' that is a calculated column using the formula
    =IF([Lower values are better],IF([Indicator Value]<=[Indicator Goal Threshold],1,0),IF([Indicator Value]>=[Indicator Goal Threshold],1,0))
    However, the only way to get this to work is setting the Goal Thresholds to 0, since that is what the Indicator Values always seem to return (despite them displaying non-zero values when I view the list manually).
    Am I going about this incorrectly, or is there a different (and free) way to accomplish my goal of having an overview status list?
    Thanks,
    Chris

    So when a status list indicator is set to update automatically, its indicator value is not stored, and it seems like the only way to see it/your current status is to view the list or use a status list web part to do so for you. Setting the indicators to
    update manually made the indicator values be stored, so I was able to base another status list off of these values.

  • DataStoreException for multi-table inheritence using numeric indicator value

    I am using multi-table inheritance with Kodo 2.5.5
    Relevant kodo.properties are:
    com.solarmetric.kodo.PersistentTypes=com.letsys.erespond.business.model.netw
    ork.PowerTransformer,com.letsys.erespond.business.model.network.Device,com.l
    etsys.erespond.business.model.network.ElectricalDevice,com.letsys.erespond.b
    usiness.model.network.Switch
    javax.jdo.PersistenceManagerFactoryClass=com.solarmetric.kodo.impl.jdbc.JDBC
    PersistenceManagerFactory
    com.solarmetric.kodo.impl.jdbc.DefaultSubclassProviderClass=com.solarmetric.
    kodo.impl.jdbc.ormapping.IntegerSubclassProvider
    I have given each of my PC classes s a numeric subclass indicator value (to
    improve join performance)
    e.g.
    <extension vendor-name="kodo" key="subclass-indicator-value" value="1">
    </extension>
    Here is my query code, the exception is at the end of the email:
    Extent e = pm.getExtent(Device.class, true);
    Query q = pm.newQuery(e, "active == p1");
    q.declareParameters("int p1");
    Collection c = (Collection)q.execute(new Integer(1));
    Iterator iter = c.iterator();
    while (iter.hasNext()) {
    Device d = (Device)iter.next();
    System.out.println("name="+d.getName());
    NOTE: The above code works if I first do a similar query, but specify the
    subclass in the pm.getExtent()
    It seems to me that the persistent classes listed in kodo.properties are not
    getting loaded.
    I also get this from debug on startup
    421 DEBUG [TestRunner-Thread] kodo.Runtime -

    Chris-
    Strange. It does seem like your PersistentTypes property is not being
    used at all.
    Can you try casting your pmf to a JDBCPersistenceManagerFactory and
    seeing if your types have actually been registered with:
    String[] types = pmf.getConfiguration ().getPersistentTypeNames ();

    Chris,
    What happens if you do a Class.forName() (or just a class reference) to

    Hi,
    You may have multiple selection at ME2N. Click on arrow at the selection criteria & enter your multiple selection criteria (range or multiple single values). Execute.

  • Center value across break in Webi 4.1?

    I could not locate this option in BO 4.1 Webi, and I wonder if it exists in BO 4.1 SP4
    Please advice

    Hi Rakesh,
    In a scenario based on Efashion where we have Quarter, Lines, Sales Revenue where we have more than one product line for each Quarter
    Now when you apply a break on Quarter to avoid repetition of the same value (let us say Q1) the column will display Q1 only once in the first row and then the rest of the rows for Quarter will be empty
    Now Center value across break means that Q1 will be centered instead of being on the top
    In other words if we have 7 product lines for Q1 then the value Q1 will be displayed in the fourth row instead of the first
    Thanks for taking the time to read

  • Concatenate a column value across multiple rows - PDW

    We are using PDW based on SQL2014. We require an efficient logic on how to concatenate a column value across multiple rows. We have the following table
    T1
    (CompanyID, StateCD)
    Having following rows:
    1              NY
    1              NJ
    1              CT
    2              MA
    2              NJ
    2              VA
    3              FL
    3              CA
    We need a code snippet which will return following result set:
    1
    CT,NJ,NY
    2
    MA,NJ,VA
    3
    CA,FL
    We have tried built-in function STUFF with FOR XML PATH clause and it is not supported in PDW. So, we need a fast alternative.

    Hi Try this:
    SELECT * INTO #ABC

  • Static vi reference read indicator values

    The objective of my code is to open a separate VI when a certain boolean button is clicked, wait for action from the user, then close the separate VI, and return its values to the main function. I have put a static VI reference in my block diagram, and then two invoke nodes: "FP.Open" and "Run VI". That works fine, but I still haven't figured out how to obtain the values of the indicator from the reference. I thought I might use a Property Node, but I couldn't find the right property to select. Any help? Thanks!

    And
    if you still want to proceed with the idea of calling by reference, set the invoke node 'Run VI' to wait till complete as 'True'.
    Then, place another invoke node after it, for Get Control Values. You will get an array of clusters, each cluster with the control/indicator name string and its value in variant data type.
    Process that array of clusters.
    Post your code if need further help.
    i would support 'Christian's first option, of calling the vi as a sub vi and pass the indicator value as a terminal on the connctor pane.

  • Drag control example and how to save an indicator value??

    Hi everyone,
    I want to drag boolean buttons on my front panel in the run time, how can I do it?
    I remember I have seen an ni example for that, it's a card on the front panel, but I don't remember the name TT anybody knows?
    and the second question is how to save an indicator value, like the first time you set the value and close the vi and run it again, the value will remain unless you change it in the second run time?
    thanks in advance
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    THe attached (in LV 8.6) is a quick and dirty dragging example.
    When a mouse down event is detected the offset between the mouse and the top left corner is calculated and cached in a shift register.
    Mouse moves use the offset to etermine the new location.
    Mosue up clears a boolean used to track if we are actively dragging at the moment.
    Have fun!

  • How to retain variable values across a BPEL Process?

    Hi All,
    I've created a BPEL process using number of variables. Out of these I've a common variable with name processorBO that is required for calling every service. But after calling a service, I lose values inside processorBO and it gets filled with the new values.
    Can anyone tell me how to retain the processorBO values across complete process so that, I can use the required values at appropriate places ?
    Thanks in Advance
    Regards

    well...you could always use the transformations to do the assign, or if you want to use just the assign activity to set the response values from the service to the 'global variable' you could use something like
      <copy>
          <from variable="inputVariable" part="payload"
                query="/client:testProcessProcessRequest"/>
          <to variable="globalVariable" part="payload"
              query="/client:testList[1]"/>
      </copy>the [1] will assign your values to the array-part of the variable.
    This does the same as a for-each in your xsl transformation.

  • Tecra M10-1H4 - Changing shared video RAM value?

    Hi there,
    I have a Tecra M10, with the standard 2GB of RAM, I also added an extra 256mb in the available RAM slot. Can I change the shared Graphics RAM value? In the properties of XP Pro I can see it is set at 1024MB which is silly since I only have 2.25GB in the machine.
    I can't seem to locate any settings even in the BIOS, where I thought I could change this. It is a mobile Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics chip. Any help is appreciated...
    I also seem to get some horrible slow downs on the laptop too, when I have about 10 different windows open, (be it the same app or different ones) when I switch to a different window/app on occasion I have to wait for the laptop to redraw the new window very slowly?
    I've updated the driver too - claims i'm on: 6.14.10.4953
    Cheers
    TC

    Hi buddy,
    No, you cant change the value of video memory. Everything will be controlled automatically and there is no value in BIOS or display driver where you can change this.
    Video RAM depends on RAM you use on your notebook. Increasing system memory the values for total available graphic memory, decided video memory and shared system memory will be higher and higher.
    So, to get more video RAM upgrade your notebook with more system RAM.

  • Align indicator value to right

    Hi,
    how can I set on default the alignement of indicator values to right?
    this should be possible I guess.
    And how can I set on default my changes on numeric properties?
    yves

    Hello,
    If you want to make it default, the best thing to do is create your own control.
    Right click on the control, select advanced...customize, here you can do what you want to your indicator/control, also the precision...
    For changing the precision by default (and other default options) I found something thet might be helpfull:

    Hope it helps...

  • Oracle OLAP:Same member values across dimensions

    We had an enquiry from a client which mentions:
    Per Essbase the same dimension member value cannot exist across multiple dimensions. e.g. if we have a account dimension with member 1001 , it is not possible to have product dimension with same member value 1001. This is essentially because Essbase implements it like a shared member. Apparently Essbase Excel-addin will not know what dimension to search for if both have same values.
    As per our understanding there is no such limitation in Oracle OLAP both during cube build or querying via Excel Add-in. i.e we can have account dimension with member 1001 and same member value can exist in a product dimension. Please advise and if anybody has any reference to any documentation in this regard please let us know.

    Hi there,
    You are correct - there is no such limitation in Oracle OLAP.
    A dimension value must be unique in any given dimension but can be repeated in other dimensions.
    I do not have any documentation but this is really easy to prove using the OLAP worksheet in AWM, eg:
    aw create test
    define dim1 dimension text
    maintain dim1 add 'MEMBER1'
    report dim1
    define dim2 dimension text
    maintain dim2 add 'MEMBER1'
    report dim2
    aw detach test
    aw delete testI hope this helps
    Thanks,
