Sharing content and permissions: bug?

I have 3 group of users in my Adobe Connect.
I give permission to alla of them to view the shared content.
Then i create some folders: folder1 only viewable by group 1, etc etc.
Inside folder1 i insert 2 contents: 1) a pdf file; 2) a record of a meeting.
I set permissions:
- the pdf file not viewable by anyone, except me;
- the record not viewable by anyone, except me.
If a user of group 1 goes inside the folder1, and he clicks on the pdf file, he sees that he hasn't the permissions.
I he clicks on the record, h ecan see (without problems) the record of the meeting!!!
Is it a bug?

As a work around, try the following:
add the following to the recording URL /output/insertnamehere.zip?download=zip
take the downloaded zip file and re-upload it to connect as a new content objectDesired Content Folder > New Content
Set and check the permissions.
This should validate as to whether this is a problem with the recording or just that instance of it. You can also set a custom URL for your recording by doing this. You may get a warning message on the summary page about the content not being complete or ready, but that is just Connect being angry about not knowing where the recording came from.

  • Sharing files and permissions

    Hi everyone,
I have two folders on my computer that I am sharing within my local network. I went to the Sharing pane and added these folders to the list of folders to be shared. Not only that I have given the group "Everyone", read and write access. (I am doing this, so that my kids could go to their own computer or my computer and have access to the same folder (and files) located on my computer). Everything works fine. But here's what I am running into. When I try to delete a file within this folder, I have to authenticate - this is okay with me (albeit a bit inconvenient) but I am sure they would need my admin password to delete something (which in a way defeats the purpose - atleast in my case!). The reason I am sharing this particular folder AND giving EVERYONE read write access is so that anyone can add, modify AND delete files in the folder. Why do deletions have to be authenticated? Eventhough this might be a "better safe than sorry" philosophy, since I have deliberately chosen to give "everyone" read & write access, they should be able to delete. Is there anyway to get around this? I am sure there is something that I can do in the Terminal - please do tell but it would be better if there's a graphical setting somewhere?...
    Thanks!

Run Verify Disk in Disk Utility.
If it's just your home folder where this is happening, reset home folder permissions.

  • Transporting KM content and permissions...

    Hi,
Could someone please tell me how to transport KM permissions?
I know that KM content can be transported using ICE and WebDev methodologies. Is there anyother means to trans port KM content other than ICE and WebDev?
Could someone please help me with this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Sudha.

To perform the transport manually by using the commands which can be integrated in the Configuration iView. If you have implemented the Change and Transport System (CTS), you can perform the export and import of the configuration data automatically. Generate a transport package in the following formats:
    ●  Config Archive: Format with the file extension .configarchive
The configuration data in XML format are available in this file compressed as a ZIP file.
    ●  PAR Archive: Format with the file extension .par - This format is used in the portal environment. The generated PAR file contains the configuration data as a compressed ZIP file in the format .configarchive. In addition, the PAR file contains the files MANIFEST.MF and portalapp.xml.
The transport of configuration data comprises the following steps:
           1.  Creation of the transport package
           2.  Export of the transport package
           3.  Import of the transport package
To create a transport package, proceed as follows:
           1. Start the export function.
a.In the portal, choose System Administration - System Configuration -Knowledge Management-  Content Management.
b.In the menu bar, choose Actions - Export - Start.
           2.  Put together the transport package.
a.In the configuration, navigate to the object that you want to export.
b.Select the required instances and choose Export.
From the options, you can choose whether referenced configuration objects are to be exported as well. If you have activated this option, you can use another option to specify whether invalid references are also to be exported. Alternatively, you can use the menu bar to put the export package together. Choose Actions - Export - Add. This allows you to choose not only individual instances
          3.  Check what you have put together.
In the menu bar, choose Actions - Export - Edit Export Package. You can check here which entries the transport package currently contains. You can remove configuration objects by deselecting the checkbox in front of the object and choosing OK.
         4.  Generate the transport package and complete the export.
CTS transport: Work through the following steps for the transport with CTS.
         a. Specify a name for the transport package. Optionally, you can enter a comment for this   transport. The selected configuration objects are listed and, if necessary, the configuration objects that they reference.
b.Choose Start Export to CTS. On the next screen, you can find information about the transport to   CTS.
c.Choose Close to exit the transport mode.
Import of a Transport Package in the Format .par
           1. Upload the PAR file to the portal. In the portal, choose System Administration - Support -     Portal Runtime - Administration Console.
           2. Select the file in the input field beneath Upload Archive and then choose Upload.
           3. To activate the imported configuration data in the system, you must restart the application server.
Access permissions allow users to display, change, or delete items. You can define these permissions for both folders and documents or other items.
    ● Service permissions allow users to use certain functions, . defining the permissions only for folders:
Permissions in access control lists (ACLs). An entry in an access control list grants a specific access permission, for example, read permission, to a user, group, or role. There are two separate access control lists for permissions and service permissions. An administrator can set up the system in such a way that it can be defined the permissions in the NTFS file system.

  • Mass Copy directory contents and permissions from production to test server

    am using SUNOS5.8.
I found out there is a discrepency between the production and test environments.
The discrepency is only with folder and subfolders contained in /admin/bin/myfolder.
The production environment is more up to date and the test environment is lagging behind.
I want to make both the environments same, as they should be.
Is there a single command in Unix that will overwrite existing folders/files in test server and copy everything including permissions starting from /admin/bin/myfolder from production server to test server?
Please also give examples of how to user the command?

I have come to know there are various tools available:
    rsh
    rcp
    rdist
    rsync
    scp
    sftp
    ftp
ftp is a very tedious tool to copy all directory contents one by one.
    cd DirA
    mv * /path/to/DirB
This method is also not a very preferable one.

  • Shared Calendar and Permissions

    Hello,
I have a shared calendar that we use in my organization and only 1 person has publishing editor rights while the rest of the company has reviewer rights. The problem is that if a reviewer opens a time block, instead of restricting the ability to post to
the calendar, it lets them send a meeting invite. Any idea on how I can set it to completely block the reviewers from being able to send the request?
Also, we are using o365 with my Outlook 2010 set up.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
I can confirm if a user has been granted with the Reviewer permission in Outlook 2010, when he double clicks on a time block, a meeting invitation is created.
While with the same permission in Outlook 2013, the user will get a message that says "You don't have permission to create an entry in this folder..."
As far as I can tell, it should be by design in Outlook 2010 and we can't change this so far. Anyway we don't have to worry about this too much, the user only creates an invitation window and only when the calendar owner accepts it will an item be created
    on the calendar.

  • Shared mailbox and personal mailbox showing identical content in Outlook

I have one user on Outlook 2010 who has Full Access permissions to a shared mailbox. In OWA, everything looks fine, but in Outlook, the shared mailbox shows the contents of her personal mailbox instead of the content of the shared mailbox.
If she views the shared mailbox's Inbox, it shows her the contents of her own Inbox instead of the shared mailbox. If she attempts to view the shared mailbox's Calendar, it shows her nothing at all. There are no error messages.
I configured a separate Mail profile (via Control Panel) for the shared mailbox, and that works fine also.
I deleted her Mail profile and all cached Outlook data, then created a new profile, and let Outlook recache all the data. Same problem.
Any ideas what is going on or how to fix it?

    Finally some moderately helpful info:
The end user logs into a computer on an untrusted, foreign AD domain (domain2.com) using an account from that domain. She then logs into her Exchange mailbox in Outlook using her domain.com account.
Every domain2.com computer she logs into gives her the same random mailbox mirroring problem.
I had her log into Outlook on a computer on domain.com located in my office and leave it running for 3 days. Every time her Outlook client on her regular computer would start or stop mirroring mailboxes, she would let me know, and I'd check the computer
in my office and find no problem.
So the problem is something in the foreign domain or something that that domain's administrators are doing to the computers. Unfortunately, several other people on that domain are using mailboxes and shared mailboxes on my Exchange servers in the exact same
configuration and are not having this problem. It is only this one user.
I am pretty sure they are not using roaming profiles. I know they are not using mandatory profiles.

  • Set up user accounts from another Mac in Sharing and Permissions?

    Hello!
I'm using GoodSync (app) to synchonize several folders between my MacBook Pro Retina and my iMac daily, via a scheduled task. GoodSync is installed on the MBP and the folders that I'm syncing between the two are connected via network shared. (See screen shot --- this is from the MBP)
This method works, however in order to get everything to share properly, I had to set read and write permissions for all the groups (my username on the iMac, and the "everyone group") under Sharing and Permissions for every folder and it's contents. I'm concerned that "everyone" has the possbility to get into/ruin my files and folders. (see screen shot -- this is from the iMac)
Is there anyway I could assign my MBP's user account to come up under Sharing and Permissions in the Get Info window (on the iMac) for all the folders I'm syncing between the computer, that way I could give just the MBP or just the MBP's user account the permission to "Read and Write" (on the iMac)?
Could anyone please tell me how or give me a more secure way of doing this? Really liking GoodSync over my local network because my data doesn't get copied to a cloud.
    Thanks for looking/contributing advice!
    Julie.

You can create a sharing-only account in the users and groups system preferences, and use this as a means for establishing permissions and access to shared folders so syncing programs can access them. This account can be managed in the file sharing preferences just like any standard account, only that it does not have a local home folder and cannot be used to log into the system at the login window.

  • I want to change the sharing and permissions of a large number of photos. How can I do this in bulk rather than one at a time?

I want to change the sharing and permissions of a large number of photos. How can I do this in bulk rather than one at a time?

Does this involve iPhoto in some way?

  • How do I setup users to create files in /Users/Shared with group permissions default to rw and not just r?

I have setup my iMac with 4 user accounts (for the wife and kids).   Some files I would like them to all have access to and that access be read / write.
I believe I should use the /Users/Shared directory but when a user creates a file there the permissions are rw for the owner but only r for the group & other.   I would like the permissions to default to rw also for group when the file is created so any of them can edit the shared file.
Basically the umask is defaulting as 0022 and I would like it to be 0002.
How can I set their account behavior to be this way by default?  Thanks

You should be able to take the permissions you have set and "apply to enclosed items." I am trying to attach a picture of what this looks like so my apologies if it does not work.
Highlight your folder you want and go to File>Get Info or command+I and at the bottom where it has Sharing and Permissions, click the lock button to authenticate. Click the gear and click "apply to enclosed items". See if that works.

  • Can't use Ikea Home Planner because of Sharing and Permissions on plug-in

I'm not sure where to submit this, or if the Apple support community cares, but I swear there's an answer to this. I am on a Macbook Air using Lion 10.7.2
When I download the "NP_2020Player_IKEA.plugin" downloadable from this website http://kitchenplanner.ikea.com/AU/UI/Pages/VPUI.htm and try to mount the plug-in I get these errors...
    1. letting me know that the Ikea plug-in can't be moved because internet plug-ins can't be modified. So I click "Authenticate".
    2. Then I "Replace" and after this selection it's asks for the Administrator's password, and I give it.
    3. I follow the directions of this prompt, but am unable to change all of the permissions to "Read and Write"..
4.Here is a screenshot of the "Get Info" window for the plug-in.
I am unable to change "staff" and "everyone" to "Read & Write".
So I just ignore it and restart Safari, hoping it will work. When I return to the Home Planner main page it automatically directs me to the download page again, prompting me to download the plug-in. From what I've read it should just open the home planner. I'm assuming it's because the plug-in was never mounted because I can't allow the sharing and permissions? I don't really know a lot about computers, can someone help? I know a lot of other people have had issues with this planner download, but I haven't found any answers about how to fix it. I'm an organization freak and really really would love to have this planner work. Google sketch-up is way too much work, and I don't trust grid paper and cut outs of furniture to convey the depth I need to see. But maybe that's my only option at this point?

    HERE SHOULD BE YOUR SOLUTION:
Command+Space to bring up universal search, type in "Internet plug-ins"...
You may get multiple choices, one referencing OS-X Lion, perhaps one ref-ing your personal login...Choose one (I started with the main - OS X Lion - one)...it will open on your desktop...If you're like me (or like the Droitetgouche), you've already tried to install it, and it gave you all that crap about "can't be modified"...etc...So delete any of those plug-ins (there may be a few, depending how many installs you've tried), then right-click the "Internet Plug-ins" folder and choose "get info"...I'm not sure why "D...che" (spelling ease) couldn't change permissions...maybe wasn't logged in as the admin?...but click the "lock" symbol in the bottom right corner, unlock it, change ALL permissions to Read & Write, then relock it.  Then open the IKEA dmg again and drag the item into the folder and it should work no problem.
Then quit Safari, restart, and it should let you work.
IF it doesn't, try going back to your universal search and choosing a different "Internet Plug-ins" folder...(Also, if you've tried the install, and you don't find any IKEA dmg's in the "Internet Plug-Ins" folder, you're likely in the wrong folder).
Also, you may want to go back later and restrict the read/write permissions when you're done with IKEA.
It worked for me, let me know if it works for you.

  • HT1539 why does the download only show in shared content on my ipad? and can i access the shared content without wifi ( example driving in car?)

I am using the icloud from a pc, and sharing with my ipad ( 1st generation) new to this. I have downloaded some digital copies into my itunes account. On my Ipad one shows under movies and 2 show under shared. Y is this and can shared content be accessed without being contected to my home wifi?

I did a little bit more research, and if I go into iTunes and choose to display TV Shows and Movies as a List, I get a nice, sortable list of movies and shows to which I can add columns. A column that you can add is called "iCloud Status."
This column shows either Purchased or Ineligible for all of the titles. And this is where things get really confusing.
Sure enough, the items that are "missing" from the iPads, iPhone, Apple TV, etc. are the Ineligible items, but that's not the confusing part. What IS confusing is which items are Ineligible.
A good example is my Deadliest Catch collection -- I own the entire season 3 and 4 of DC; season 3 is Purchased and Season 4 is Ineligible. Back to the Big Bang Theory, I have five episodes from Season 4 -- 3 are Ineligible and 2 are Purchased.
It makes absolutely no sense that episodes from the same season of the same show would be a mix of Purchased and Ineligible!

I'm going to assume that since you deleted your hard drive and all its files, you had a backup, yes? If the backup has an OS (bootable clone), then you can boot into it by holding down the option key when you start up you iMac and choose the backup drive. Then use Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper to copy the files back to your iMac.

  • In my library/sharing and permissions there are two users i do not recognize. One is called fetching and one is called wheel.

If I get info on my library I see under sharing and permissions a user called fetching and a user called wheel. I am not familiar with these users. Are they there for a reason?

I see this question was asked last Oct, and had gone unanswered.
I, too, have suddently noticed that all my folders on my external disk are giving permission to this "Fetching", and my system disk show permission for "Wheel".
It is gratifying to know more than one person is seeing this, but does it mean we are both being hacked by the same source, or is there some unexplained legitimate reason they are there?
Thank you for any further information.

  • What does the term "Wheel" mean under sharing and permissions?

    Hi Everyone,
When I select a folder (in Applications for example) and then click "get info", under the sharing and permissions section where accounts are listed with their respective permissions, the list usually starts with system or admin, then a term called "Wheel", then everyone. What is Wheel?

wheel is a system superuser group. By default only the root user belongs to it. Snow leopard has changed some permissions and now the preinstalled system apps in the main Applications folder have the group wheel (it was admin in Leopard). I don't know why they did it but this is now normal. where else do you see wheel?

SoFS is a good choice for a) Hyper-V and b) SQL Server (anything working with a big files like VHDX and MDF). For a bunch of a small files IIS has in a shared directories SoFS is not going to work and it's cleary said in the documentation. See:

    Not recommended

So in your case just an ordinary clustered file servers should be enough. See:

    Hope this helped :)
