Sharing is on, but iPad and Apple TV don't see it.

Greetings fellow Mac geeks. I am stumped.
Problem: When I open "Videos" on iPad, I do not see my shared library
Problem: When I turn on ATV and go to "Computers" I do not see my shared library
Until today, I've had no problem accessing my shared library from my Apple TV or my iPad. Today, all of a sudden, neither ATV nor iPad can see my shared library. Here's my set up:
-iMac is sharing my itunes library "Share my library on my local network" is on in preferences
-My iMac, iPad, and ATV are all connected to the same network via wifi
The only thing I've changed is that I added iTunes match. But that was a couple days ago, and I did not have problems until today.
Please help if you can-

Not sure if I'm late to answering your questions, but I had a similar frustrating experience where none of my iDevices' home sharing functionality worked. It drove me nuts as I like keeping my songs on my desktop and listening to them from my idevices. However none of my idevices showed my desktop on the 'shared' tab.
A temporary solution was to restart my router every now and then. I even bookmarked 192.168.0.1 (my wireless router's admin page) so I could have easy access to the router reset functionality from there.
It did the job but I wasn't fully satisfied.
Two months down the line, a new roommate moved in and along with him came his new wireless router. Suddenly all my problems were fixed. Consistent home sharing without any interruptions.
So it turned out that my old router (BELKIN) was incompatible (in a sense) with the home sharing functionality of iOS and OSX. My new router (DLINK) works flawlessly!
Hope this helps at least identify the source of your problem. If you own a Belkin wireless router, that might be the culprit.

I don't mean to be facetious but sometimes the simplest things are overlooked. To connect to your library you have to have the computer where the iTunes library is located running and with iTunes open. It also needs to be on the same network. My network is dual band and works with either stream but a friend of mine does not. He has to set the computer and the Apple TV to the same band. Hope this helps.

To use itunes 10.7 you need to have Snow Leopard operating system installed

Itunes Home Sharing HD (720p) for Ipad and Iphone... Buffering Freezing...is a mess

I'd like to report a comment that I found on mac-forums.com that summerize the situation(http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/ios-apps/231842-ios-4-3-issues-home-sharing.htm l#post1273744):
"While home sharing works, it doesn't seem like a finished product to me. Since the appletv 2 is built on iOS, I don't understand why home sharing on the iPad does not work the EXACT same way as it does on the apple tv 2. These are the problems I have with home sharing on the iPad for video:
1) My shows should be displayed in order, which they are not. What I see is a random jumble of different shows, different seasons of the same show are not even placed together consistantly.
2) Once I select a season of a show, the episodes are not in order.
3) I can't see which episodes are watched or unwatched, nor can I resume an episode that I started on my computer (or start an episode on my iPad and finish it on my computer).
4) The streaming seems slow for HD content and stops every now and again to buffer.
The appletv 2 has none of these issues. Being as they run the same OS, I can only conclude that apple has a lot more work to do with home sharing on the iPad and iPhone, or they are deliberately hamstringing home sharing because now that they are releasing an HDMI adapter, a well implemented home sharing system would eat into the sales of the appletv 2."
I think that Apple must find a solution about this....also with ipad IOS 4.3.5 home sharing doesn't work properly with hd content....and I assure you is not a network problem

18000 and 200gb of iCloud storage how do i up load to iCloud and view them across my iPhone iPad and apple tv?

I have 18000 photos and i have to signed up to 200gb of iCloud storage how do i up load to iCloud and see them across my iPhone iPad and apple tv?
I have dragged my entire library over to the iCloud icon on the left side menu bar on my iMac iPhotos.
i have also signed into iCloud.com but can only see recent few photos taken today on my iPhone and when i have gone to import i can not import for my iPhotos app?
How do i get these to the cloud to view across my devices?
What settings do i need to use on my iPhone and iPad?
Or is iCloud not the best way to store and view my library?

Wait for a few month. iCloud Photo Library (Beta) and the Photos.app for Mac are being beta tested now and will be available soon on your Mac. Then you can store your photo library in iCloud and keep optimised versions of your photos on your Mac locally, with the full sized versions in iCloud. And all your devices will be able to access the photos in iCloud.

The iPads and iPhones can already do it, but the Mac can only access this library using the web interface, see: iCloud Photo Library beta FAQ
Use the time, till Photos will be released, to consolidate your photo library. Get all places and faces tagged, all keywords, titles, and ratings ready, duplicates removed, events and albums well structured, and when Photos will be released, you can simply let it migrate the iPhoto or Aperture library to iCloud Photo Library. Enable "Optimize Storage" and you will be able to have the bulk of your photos in iCloud.

"HD versions available for iPad and Apple TV"...What about my HDTV???

So I have a Mac Mini with HDMI hooked up to my HDTV.
Last night I wanted to rent a movie when I noticed that I could only rent the SD version. At first I thought maybe it was only available in SD.
But then I noticed some text saying that it was available in HD on iPad and Apple TV.
Is it just me or is this ridiculous? The Mac Mini has an HDMI on it so it can be hooked up to HDTVs...It's exact same as an Apple TV.
Why on earth can't I watch the HD version on my TV?
Please tell me that I am an idiot and there is some setting that I'm missing that will allow this.

I assume you are playing these directly from iTunes. Make sure the default is set to HD. You can do this by right clicking the movie in question, go down to version, and select HD as the default.

Rentals are one-time only downloads, they will not show on other devices/computers for redownloading.
If you rent a film on your iPad or Apple TV then you can only watch it on that device. If you rent it on your Mac then you can move it from there to your iPhone or your Apple TV (if it's a first gen Apple TV) : FAQs about renting movies from the iTunes Store :
If you rented the movie on your computer, you can move it to an iOS device or Apple TV (1st generation). To do this, connect the devices and sync using USB. my home sharing continually fails between mac and apple tv 2, even during watching a movie. I go to the mac to re-turn on home sharing but it is still on. Any tips? I also have to turn off and back on at the mac every time i switch on my apple tv.

If you have a firewall enabled in your router or computer, make sure that the firewall is not blocking communication between your computers. Home Sharing uses TCP port 3689 and UDP port 5353 to communicate with shared iTunes libraries.
In addition, Apple TV and Mac computers will use port 123 to set the time automatically. Incorrect date and time on either the computer or Apple TV can cause errors for Home Sharing and connections in general.
If you are unsure whether your router has a firewall or the required ports open, test additional devices or another network to help isolate the issue. If the devices tested work on another home network, it is your router or network configuration.
For Mac OS X, you don't have to edit the port addresses, but make sure the firewall in Apple () menu > System Preferences > Security > Firewall are not set to:
Block all incoming connections
Allow only essential services
If you use another security/firewall software on your computer or router, follow this article or contact the manufacturer or check the documentation on how to open TCP ports 123 and 3689 as well as UDP ports 123 and 5353.
It made sense to me, but its still puzzling me after restarting a router would (in my first attempt) resolve the issue for a day. This this time I applied the port forwarding TCP and UDP ports and saved the settings in the DLink DIR-655 and both my iPad2 and iPhone 3GS were now again finding the share. My ATV2 is also now accepting the Share.
Tommorrow will be the true test.

Image vibrations in display slide show on iPad and Apple TV

I am using iPhoto 11 to create slide shows. I use the standard export option for I wish to run the same movie on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV.
Running the slide show in iPhoto the quality is good, however on iPad and Apple TV some of the images become very unstable and vibrate or shake for some seconds.

The iPad and Apple TV could become the next killer app for professional photographers - all Apple needs to do is copy the iPod programming into the Photo app as follows:
1. Enable rating photos being viewed (1=top, 5=bottom)
2. Enable viewing photos by rating (1s only, 1s and 2s, unrated, any combo)
3. Enable slideshow to randomly pick from photos by rating
4. Enable virtual albums just like the iPod playlist function, so photos could be organized into albums without being recopied.
5. Enable slideshow to use multiple folders, albums and playlists (new feature)
Then the wedding photographer could invite the client to see their virtual album, rate the pictures being viewed for selection in the wedding album.... you "get the picture?"
Come on Apple, this one's easy!

You didn't ask for comments in your original post. The tone of your post implied that you wanted to let Apple know your feeling, not a request for comment or survey, etc.

Youngest daughter has ipad mini which I connected to my laptop to download free games, music and photos, now the ipadmini thinks its me and we are getting each others messages etc. If I reset the ipadmini to factory settings, will this delete and/of effect my Ipad, Apple phone, I don't want everything DELETED on my devices. HELP

Yes it would be her device you remove your account from, but she would need an email address to have an Apple ID.
I guess if it's only messages that you want her to use, you could create an iCloud email address alias and let her use that for messaging.
First you'd need to create an alias for your iCloud address, you can do this at iCloud.com > mail, click on the gear icon in the bottom left corner and select preferences, then choose the accounts tab. The alias could be her name.
After creating an alias you will need to add it to her device as an ID for messages, go to settings > messages > send & receive > Add another email.
While you are there make sure she only sends and receives messages from that address, you also need to ensure the same settings on your devices use anything but that address.

Sharing is on, but iPad and Apple TV don't see it.
