Shipping Question

I just ordered a new laptop computer. Currently, on the bestbuy.com website is the following wording: "Free express shipping on computers with Windows 7 preloaded. Pre-order by 11 am ET on October 21, and it will arrive at your door on October 22."
When I placed the order, it defaulted to standard shipping and a prompt was displayed to select the express shipping. The prompt asked if I wanted to make the change from standard to express, and I clicked on yes. After the order was completed and PAID for, I noticed that the arrival date indicated October 27.
This completly conflicts with the "pre-order by october 21 and get it on october 22" message. I understand that the Windows 7 release date is on October 22. I called customer service and they basically stated the same information as what I was seeing on my order confirmation page. They told me that the order would take all day to process on October 22 and then would be boxed up and sent on October 23 (Friday) and then due to the weekend, the computer actually wouldn't arrive until October 26 at the earliest.
I kept trying to explain the wording on the bestbuy.com website, but wasn't getting anywhere and the systems that the customer service agent was using kept crashing. They tried to connect me to customer fullfillment, but I got disconnected instead of getting transferred.
So, since the computer was ordered on October 18 and as per the message on the bestbuy website, why can I not get my computer on the 22? The customer service agent couldn't even change to an in store pickup because all the stores were greyed out.

I'm not sure about the shipping problem - I know Best Buy had an issue similar to this last Christmas, where it said if you ordered by such and such a date, you would receive the item next day, or the day after - something along those lines - at any rate, because of the shipping company (UPS I believe) the shipping was being delayed or was not arriving on time - this could be a similar case.
Once October 22nd roles around, Best Buy .com should update the grayed out stores to stores that have the items in stock, but I don't know how long it will take to update, it should be something that updates by the time the stores open on that day.
My opinions are mine, and mine alone.

  • Computer shipping question

I ordered a ibuypower desktop computer on Sunday the 25th and the order status of that computer still has not changed from "order at warehouse in process of shipping". I am just wondering if that is normal or not?

    Greetings Jluther92,
Most of the purchases I make are online, so I constantly rely on the estimated date of arrival on the website to give me an accurate time frame of when my order is to arrive. I’m the type of person who anxiously watches out the window to see when the mail carrier is coming around the corner, so I understand why you’d want to know when your new computer is arriving.
Using the information you provided when registering for the forum, I was able to pull up your online order to see where your computer may be.  As your computer was a specialty order item in that it was directly ordered from a vendor, it appears we needed a couple extra days to process your order. Thankfully, I see your computer successfully shipped yesterday, and UPS has an ETA of this coming Monday (2/02/2015). If you have any further questions about this though, please don’t hesitate to let me know. I’ll be glad to help.
    Enjoy your new computer!

  • Assassin's Creed Unity Collector's Edition Shipping Question

    Hi,
I am a best buy elite plus member. I have preordered the collector's edition for Assassin's Creed Unity from bestbuy.com. I noticed that the the only shipping issue is standard and that someone has to sign for it. Is there any chance of gaining expedited shipping for it?
    Solved!

    Good day projectgamma,
Thank you for being such a loyal Best Buy customer as a My Best Buy Elite Plus member! As a benefit, you should receive free expedited shipping on all of your orders, so I’m truly disheartened to hear that standard shipping appears to be what was chosen on the order.
Using the email address you registered with the forum, I believe I was able to locate the order and the My Best Buy member ID. That being said, in order to look into this further for you, I am sending you a private message to gather some more details. • MacBook Shipping Question....

If I order a MacBook on Thurdsay July 20th, what day should I expect the laptop to arrive? I live in New Jersey if that helps at all. Also what shipping service does Apple use?

If Apple has the model you've ordered in a warehouse near your location, that's when it's available in 24 hours. If they don't have the model you've ordered in stock, then it will probably have to come from a distribution center or even the factory. If you custom-configure your new computer, it will be specifically built for you as it runs down the assembly line. These custom-configured computers go through an additional day of testing after being built. Since shipping from the factory may be affected by weather and customs in Alaska (where most shipments stop in the U.S. for the first time), it's extremely difficult for anyone at Apple, let alone anyone one of us users to give you an exact time/date to expect your new computer. Really, you should call Apple and ask them, this is a user-to-user forum and we have no way of tracking your specific order.

  • Shipping question, not sure which dicussion folder to use

    Hi,
i am currently in Korea, and am looking to get a new mac notebook.. however, the prices here are more expensive than at home in north america... i have found some great deals on mac refurbished computers from their website and am really interested in buying one... however, i have virtually NO way to get it to me in korea because they don't ship internationally.
i know apple is a huge company, and isn't likely to make exceptions for one person... but i have recently been convinced to buy a mac (have always used pc's), and am really excited to get started! i don't want to have to wait for another year until i am back in north america!
is there anyone out there who knows ANY way to get a mac that's located in the states to me in korea? any way they can ship it to a mac store in seoul and i pick it up? anything!??
    thanks for any advice!

Apple can't possibly do this. It is against trade laws. The only way you could get a new American mac in Korea is if someone sent it to you as a gift, and then, you really should be first checking what the law is in korea regarding receiving such gifts by mail. That may very well be illegal too. I depends on what country you are sending the gift to.
Think about it...if everyone in Korea could buy a computer in the US without paying import tax, that would really upset the Korean government.

  • IPhone 4S shipping question

For those who have had an iPhone shipped to their home, what shipping service do they use? I want to be home when it is delivered. Do they use Fed Ex next day morning or evening, or UPS? I know UPS comes late in the evening in my area, so I wouldn't need to take time off from work.

My iPad came via fedex I think it was. This is the first time I've preordered a phone though so I am not sure. I would think they'd take advantage of both shipping companies to make sure the orders got delivered on time.

  • Order ship question

Hey guys, I ordered a contract free iPhone 5s 16GB Silver.
    Current status:
Available to ship: by October 18
Delivers: Oct 24 by 2-3 Business Days
Does it mean I'll receive it on Oct 24th or +/- 3 business days?? I am kind of in a fix because I am leaving the country on the morning of Oct 25th.

Nahh oct 24 is your delivery date estimate by apple it'll probably arrive a day or two earlier but the 24 should be the latest possible date

  • Ipad 2 Shipping question.

I went on the website today,  and when i ordered my ipad the shipping was 2-3 weeks.  Now its 1-2 weeks,  will my shipping estimate change now? thanks !

  • 8x preorder shipping questions

Is someone from VZW going to come out and publicly state what is going on with the 8x preorder shipping issue? There is absolutely no information coming from the company about the matter. It should be pretty simple to explain what is going on. People who ordered the phone on 11/9 shouldn't be left guessing about when or even if they will get their phone.

Besides the email that came out from VZW that said "we're sorry, not shipping on 13th, buy a case for 30% off for the phone you might gets someday"?  I assume you got that one, I would bet the next thing you get eventually is a tracking number and the company that doesn't believe people will leave because the network speaks for itself will just continue believe bad customer service is OK as long as the network wins.
We just lived through the whole scenario of not knowing when power would come back on day after day and 8 days without power felt like a month especially when it dropped into the low 30s.  So for me it's annoying but not knowing when my new phone will show up is a bit easier to deal with but Verizon is handling this as bad as the local power companies did when it comes to communicating with their customers.  Unfortunately I don't think the governor will get involved in this one to demand answers.
Wait, let me check again...drum roll...place your bets...
    Expected Ship Date: 11/13/2012

  • Shipping question regarding lightroom physical box

I am yet to recieve my physical box of lightroom. DHl Tracking number say it will arrive on Feb 26. The wierd thing is it say "Alaska-DHl Express" instead of "continental usa-DHl Express". In past shipments from Adobe, all of my orders originated in California. This order originated in Kennesaw, Ga. Can anyone please verify where their physical shipment of lightroom originated from? It is listed under you Adobe order history. Just click on the order number. I appologize in advance for asking such a bizzare question.

I know this is an odd question but it will save me a lot of time if someone has the answer.

  • My MBA is being shipped, question about transferring files from old PB

    Hey guys,
I just ordered a new 13" MBA and am anxiously awaiting for it to arrive... I currently have a 12" Powerbook G4 with 10.5.8 that I use an external drive to back up with time machine.
My question is this; when I get my MBA will I be able to use the time machine back up to migrate my files even though my old computer has an older version of Mac OS on it?

A Basic Guide for Migrating to Intel-Macs
The Knowledgebase article Intel-based Mac: Some migrated applications may need to be updated refers to methods of dealing with migrating from PowerPC chips to Intel with the Migration Assistant safely. The authors of this tip have not had a chance to verify this works in all instances, or that it avoids the 10.6.1 and earlier Guest Account bug that caused account information to get deleted upon use of the Migration/Setup Assistant. However, a well backed up source that includes at least two backups of all the data that are not connected to your machine will help you avoid potential issues, should they arise. In event it does not work, follow the steps below.
If you are migrating a PowerPC system (G3, G4, or G5) to an Intel-Mac be careful what you migrate. Keep in mind that some items that may get transferred will not work on Intel machines and may end up causing your computer's operating system to malfunction.
Rosetta supports "software that runs on the PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor that are built for Mac OS X". This excludes the items that are not universal binaries or simply will not work in Rosetta:
Classic Environment, and subsequently any Mac OS 9 or earlier applications
    Screensavers written for the PowerPC
    System Preference add-ons
    All Unsanity Haxies
    Browser and other plug-ins
    Contextual Menu Items
Applications which specifically require the PowerPC G5
    Kernel extensions
Java applications with JNI (PowerPC) libraries
See also What Can Be Translated by Rosetta.
In addition to the above you could also have problems with migrated cache files and/or cache files containing code that is incompatible.
If you migrate a user folder that contains any of these items, you may find that your Intel-Mac is malfunctioning. It would be wise to take care when migrating your systems from a PowerPC platform to an Intel-Mac platform to assure that you do not migrate these incompatible items.
If you have problems with applications not working, then completely uninstall said application and reinstall it from scratch. Take great care with Java applications and Java-based Peer-to-Peer applications. Many Java apps will not work on Intel-Macs as they are currently compiled. As of this time Limewire, Cabos, and Acquisition are available as universal binaries. Do not install browser plug-ins such as Flash or Shockwave from downloaded installers unless they are universal binaries. The version of OS X installed on your Intel-Mac comes with special compatible versions of Flash and Shockwave plug-ins for use with your browser.
The same problem will exist for any hardware drivers such as mouse software unless the drivers have been compiled as universal binaries. For third-party mice the current choices are USB Overdrive or SteerMouse. Contact the developer or manufacturer of your third-party mouse software to find out when a universal binary version will be available.
Also be careful with some backup utilities and third-party disk repair utilities. Disk Warrior 4.1, TechTool Pro 4.6.1, SuperDuper 2.5, and Drive Genius 2.0.2 work properly on Intel-Macs with Leopard. The same caution may apply to the many "maintenance" utilities that have not yet been converted to universal binaries. Leopard Cache Cleaner, Onyx, TinkerTool System, and Cocktail are now compatible with Leopard.
Before migrating or installing software on your Intel-Mac check MacFixit's Rosetta Compatibility Index.

Transferring data with Setup Assistant - Migration Assistant FAQ
Because Migration Assistant isn't the ideal way to migrate from PowerPC to Intel Macs, using Target Disk Mode, copying the critical contents to CD and DVD, an external hard drive, or networking
will work better when moving from PowerPC to Intel Macs. The initial section below discusses Target Disk Mode. It is then followed by a section which discusses networking with Macs that lack Firewire.
If both computers support the use of Firewire then you can use the following instructions:
    1. Repair the hard drive and permissions using Disk Utility.
    2. Backup your data. This is vitally important in case you make a mistake or there's some other problem.
    3. Connect a Firewire cable between your old Mac and your new Intel Mac.
    4. Startup your old Mac in Target Disk Mode.
    5. Startup your new Mac for the first time, go through the setup and registration screens, but do NOT migrate data over. Get to your desktop on the new Mac without migrating any new data over.
If you are not able to use a Firewire connection (for example you have a Late 2008 MacBook that only supports USB:)
    1. Set up a local home network: Creating a small Ethernet Network.
    2. If you have a MacBook Air or Late 2008 MacBook see the following:

Copy the following items from your old Mac to the new Mac:
In your /Home/ folder: Documents, Movies, Music, Pictures, and Sites folders.
    In your /Home/Library/ folder:
/Home/Library/Application Support/AddressBook (copy the whole folder)
/Home/Library/Application Support/iCal (copy the whole folder)
Also in /Home/Library/Application Support (copy whatever else you need including folders for any third-party applications)
    /Home/Library/Keychains (copy the whole folder)
    /Home/Library/Mail (copy the whole folder)
    /Home/Library/Preferences/ (copy the whole folder)
/Home /Library/Calendars (copy the whole folder)
/Home /Library/iTunes (copy the whole folder)
/Home /Library/Safari (copy the whole folder)
    If you want cookies:
    /Home/Library/Cookies/Cookies.plist
    /Home/Library/Application Support/WebFoundation/HTTPCookies.plist
    For Entourage users:
Entourage is in /Home/Documents/Microsoft User Data
    Also in /Home/Library/Preferences/Microsoft
Credit goes to Macjack for this information.
If you need to transfer data for other applications please ask the vendor or ask in the Discussions where specific applications store their data.
    5. Once you have transferred what you need restart the new Mac and test to make sure the contents are there for each of the applications.

  • Where in UK is the main warehouse of Apple??  the place where they shipped online orders from.. thanks!

I ordered an iPad online and they shipped it today.. the estimated delivery date will be on 5th of this month but they said it could be earlier than that.. just a thought that if the warehouse is near my place i could receive my new iPad today.. thanks!

Location of the shipping origin often makes no difference as to the delivery date, as many carriers move goods though a central distribution point, often quite a distance from the origin and delivery date. So even if you determine the origin point, that may well not provide any useful information for determing the actual delivery date.
This forum is for questions about using iPads in large organizations, by the way. Shipping questions are best addressed to your carrier or the vendor from whom you ordered your product.
