Shipping the G4 and monitor

I am curious to know if any one else shipped their G4 and monitor recently and whether they did it by Fed Ex air or ground and how much it cost, even approximately.

As one who buys G4s (to refurbish and resell) shipped from all over the country, I can volunteer a few thoughts.
Fed Ex trucks are smaller than UPS, but they seem to do the job.
The cost I wind up paying for seems to be about $25-30 if the customer does the packing. If you pay to have it done, add $50. If you no longer have the original box, get a large, stout box and use lots of bubble wrap and/or plastic peanuts. Macs travel pretty well.
A CRT monitor is a different story; they DON'T travel well. Back when I bought several and had them shipped, the toll was $50-100 and I tended to lose about half. They are heavy, but mostly, they are unbalanced (front-end heavy), and that means they get dropped, or roll off the top of a six-high stack. They need to be packed sitting on their base, and off-centre in their box, so that their weight is centred within the box. If you have the original box, you might try, but unless you're an expert, give yours away at your end and buy another at the destination.
My limited experience experience with flat screen displays suggest they travel pretty well.
