Shockwave Player Version

Hello, I have inserted a Director Shockwave movie into my site by clicking on INSERT--MEDIA--SHOCKWAVE--MOVIENAME.
When I preview, I get the following error message:
"This page is referenced to an incorrect version of Shockwave".
I have the most recent version of Director Shockwave (11.5.0.596) .  This site was created with an html page.  When I inserted the ".dcr" file, the following code was created:
<object classid="clsid:166B1BCA-3F9C-11CF-8075-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/director/sw.cab#version=10,0,0,0" width="32" height="32">
      <param name="src" value="kidvoice.dcr" />
      <embed src="kidvoice.dcr" pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/" width="32" height="32"></embed>
    </object>
I changed the cab#version from a 10 to an 11 and then to 11.5 and then to 11.5.0.596 thinking that would do the trick.
Any suggestions?  Thanks for the help, Bluejays86

I literally had to go through my system and manually remove
the Norton Security Scan files to stop this from happening!
Anyone else with this problem on Windows Vista 32-bit can
stop Norton Security Scan from reinstalling by doing the following
Delete C:\Windows\system32\Adobe\Shockwave 11\nssstub.exe
from your system.
Also in C:\Users\{USERNAME}\AppData\Local\Temp
Remove or quarantine all of the files with Norton in the
name.
Also in the same folder, Remove or quarantine NSSstub.txt
This is a nuisance! This optional software bundle should not
be selected and installed by default.
Yes, I believe that it hurts the product and brand in the long run that they have opt-out 3rd party software, but they're by far not the only large company that does this with their software.
Anyways, DO NOT uninstall Norton's manually. To clean most Norton's products from your system as fully as you can, use their removal tool: http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039
And for those of you who are still paranoid about using their removal tool to remove their software - this tool came about because of customer complaints, so it does what it says.

Well, the links to the Shockwave Player 11 are up now at 9pm

Their links are broken, so you can't actually download
anything.
But they are there.

• Shockwave player version detection problem

hello;
I am using a vbscript that uses
For i = 20 To 1 Step -1
CreateObject( "ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash." + CStr( i ) )
Next
I have uninstalled shockwave from my computer;
however the script gets a positive hit on i=9, implying that
I have shockwave version 9 on my computer;
are there any other checking methods that I should use?
thanks
dsdsdsdsd

Hello,
with your script you detect the version of the "(Shockwave)
Flash Player" (development tool: Macromedia/Adobe Flash) not of the
"Shockwave Player" (development tool: Macromedia/Adobe Director).
So it's normal that a uninstall of the "Shockwave Player" has no
effect on the result of your script .
Greetings
Jens

• Choosing Shockwave Player version to publish to

In MX 2004 you can publish to player 10 of 8.5. In the D11
trial there's no choice. I understand there's DX9 and Unicode and
whatnot that older players won't support, but isn't the program
able to tell if you're using those features and alert you if you
try to save to an older player format? Flash CS3 lets you choose
player version and alerts you if you try to use something the
player won't understand. And anything Flash can do Director should
do better.
If we have to publish to the 11 player we'll have to keep MX
2004 installed because one of our main customers is at player 10
across the enterprise, and we have no idea when they'll go to 11,
if at all. (-.-)

Ah, thats not so bad.
I used to have 6.5 & 7.0.2 & 8.5 all installed at the
same time.
Now I have MX2004 added to that and no problems.
I suggest just leave it installed.

• Shockwave player version 12.0.9.149 msi install

Dear Adobe!
I've already applied to the Software Distribution process, but on the page I got in the email, there is still the old version of Shockwave player (12.0.7.148).
When could I expect the new MSI installer to be uploaded?
Thanks,
Levente Luksa

This link should always point to the latest compiled/uploaded version. If it isn't current you'll need to talk to someone on the Director team, and none of them monitor this or any other related forums.

• Confirm Shockwave player file version by looking at a file version?

When I go online it says I have Shockwave Player 11.5.2r602.  But I can't see to locate a file anywhere on my computer that when I look at it's file version, it shows that.  Does anyone know how I can verify the shockwave player version of a computer by simply looking at the file version of a certain file on that computer?

Thanks!
I couldn’t find the Shockwave Player forum on the main Adobe forums page, thanks for the link also.

• Uninstall Adobe Shockwave Player 11.0

While upgrading from Windows Vista - Windows 7, I run windows7 upgrade advisor to check the compatibility as suggested by Microsoft. The report shows following issue.
Adobe Shockwave Player
version 11.0
Adobe Systems, Inc.
Update available
We don't have compatibility information about this version of the program.
Get an update to a compatible version http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/
I updated the latest version from the above link suggest by Advisor, but still the same issue was showing. Closing looking the latest version of Adobe Shockwave Player is 11.5 and the issue was showing for version 11.0. Looking further, for all the programs installed in Control Panel - Programs, I found my system have both Adobe Shockwave player (11.0 & 11.5). When I use Shockwave Player Uninstaller (sw_uninstaller.exe) this uninstall only new version (11.5) and old version remains without logo.
Please help to uninstall Adobe Shockwave Player version 11.0.

Should have looked through this forum a little closer:
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/560708?tstart=0
I used the installation program for ShockWave 11.0 with the uninstall switch and this did uninstall it.
Since I am using an SCCM package to deploy the uninstall of SW 11.0 and the install of SW 11.5.6.606,
I used this line in my Installer package:
Execute msiexec /uninstall "Path\SWInstallFileName.msi" /quiet (Wait)
I had to rename the SW 11.0 installation filename since it was the same as the SW 11.5.6.606 installation filename
and I needed to use both .MSIs in my package.
This does not explain why the sw_uninstaller.exe provided by Adobe is not working though.
It would be nice to have an explanation and get this problem corrected so we can use sw_uninstaller.exe.
