Shopping cart support in Oracle Portal

I need to integrate a shopping cart with the functionality of Oracle Portal.
Can I do this with the Oracle Portal product?
Thank you.
/Madan Valluri

The answer is yes, with caveats. Most shopping carts assign cookies to visitors to uniquely identify them and their carts. If this is done when the user first adds an item to the cart, this is no problem. If the cart system, for some strange reason, needs to set the cookie on first entry to the site (I've seen this), you'll need to front your portal w/ a static page only seen once that sets this cookie.
There are a huge number of scenarios for different carts. This just covers two cases. Short answer, yes, you should be able to use a cart w/ portal.

  • How to incorporate a Language that is not supported in Oracle Portal

    Hi,
I want to know the preferred way to add support for a new language in Oracle Portal.
If a language is not supported in Oracle Portal, how I can add the content for that language in the Portal?
    Please advise.
    Best Wishes.

I've seen this in a statement of direction presentation as an enhancement for R11. So this should be a R11 feature. In the meantime you might investigate the NLS views and tables and try to find a way to extend this. BUT just in an emergency case and you have to know that is not supported (also you may lose support in general for this installation when hacking the repository). So I cannot recommend this with a clear conscience. You have to know exactly what you're doing.
You can also open a SR to get an official statement from support. Maybe there's a note for this.

  • Changing description of a field in shopping cart form in SRM Portal

    Hi,
We have a requirement to change the description/adding a note to one of the fields in Shopping cart creation form in the portal. In the SHOP page, when we click on describe requirement we have an option to choose the product type as Goods or Services in the ADD ITEMS section. Here we would like to add a note for the radio button GOODS.
I tried to check the source and undertand that it uses the template - bbpsc01/99/saplbbp_sc_ui_its_1000.html
I'm not sure where I can view this HTML file and also not sure how I can modify this HTML page.
Please give some pointers regarding the same.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    I could see the HTML code in SE80 -> Internet service -> BBPSC01 -> HTML Template -SAPLBBP_SC_UI_ITS -> Screen 230.
Can I directly modify the code of this particular screen? Is there any standard procedure that need to be followed to modify the HTML Template?
Please clarify as soon as possible.
Note: I have not worked on Internet services before.

  • Does OEM Grid Control 10g support monitoring Oracle Portal 10g?

    Dear expert,
It seems OEM GC 10g could monitor WebCenter, Weblogic portal and even Websphere portal, but I could not find any info for Oracle Portal. So,
    1.     Does OEM GC support to monitor Oracle Portal 10g? If not, does it support Oracle Portal 11g?
    2.     If does not support Oracle Portal, then is there any workaround for it? E.g. if it’s feasible through “web appliation”?
Any comment and docs are welcome.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi Rob,
    Thanks for your help.
BTW, I have another question for your reply, that what do u mean by “You can use Oracle Enterprise Manager to monitor and manage OracleAS Portal”?
Do you mean OEM AS Console or OEM GC? Boz I only find these metrics from OEM AS Console, which mentioned in this doc. http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B16240_01/doc/em.102/b25987/oracle_portal.htm#CHDFJHDD
If these metrics only available in AS Console, then how to let the OEM send out email notification if critical threshold is over?
    Thank you.

  • XSQL support in Oracle Portal?

What I would like to do is have the client perform a search/query via a Portlet. The Portlet would invoke the XSQL Servlet with an XSQL Page. The XSQL Servlet would do it's thing and return HTML (transformed by using an XSL stylesheet) to the Portlet to display the query/search results back to the client. Is this possible to do? If so, are there any examples I can look at?
    Thanks,
    Nick

  • Material - UoM Pair issue in SRM Portal - shopping cart

    Hello Experts,
When we try to add Pair type material in shopping cart in SRM Sandbox Portal (Material no:
11100000000111) , it is throwing error as " Incomplete items in catalog. Only complete items were transferred" in checkout screen and item is not showing in shopping cart.
I created some test implementation on this BADI BADI bbp_catalog_Transfer, so that it will give more log on SLG1 for this issue.

    Thanks in advance.
I already posted this SRM shopping cart and i just posted to get more inputs reg. this

you have put too many details ..
this error is simple in the fact that there are a few mandatory fields that needs to be transferred from MDM to SRM SC
The following fields are required fields in all cases:
u2022 Either NEW_ITEM-DESCRIPTION[n] or NEW_ITEM-MATNR[n] must be filled. Only one of the two should be filled.
    u2022 NEW_ITEM-QUANTITY[n]
The following fields are required fields depending on conditions:
u2022 NEW_ITEM-UNIT[n] if NEW_ITEM-MATNR[n] has not been filled
    u2022 NEW_ITEM-CURRENCY[n] if NEW_ITEM-PRICE[n] has been filled
    u2022 NEW_ITEM-EXT_SCHEMA_TYPE[n] if NEW_ITEM-EXT_CATEGORY_ID[n] or NEW_ITEM-EXT_CATEGORY[n] are used
    u2022 NEW_ITEM-EXT_QUOTE_ID[n] if NEW_ITEM-EXT_QUOTE_ITEM[n] has been used
    u2022 NEW_ITEM-CONTRACT[n] if NEW_ITEM-CONTRACT_ITEM[n] has been used
    All other fields are optional.
check in the catalog OCI mappings if these mandatory fields are mapped.
if they look fine : then make sure that the values in those mandatory fields are also maintained in the SRM side
for eg : if Prod cat of R01 is maintained and sent from MDM : then the same R01 must be present in SRM
if UoM ISO of EA  is maintained and sent from MDM : then the same EA (not EACH) must be present in SRM
    this will solve ur issue.
    thanks

  • Change approver in shopping cart

Hello, i've been stuck on this for 1 week. i need a way( FM, method) to change an approver in a shopping cart ( not through the portal ) .
i've tried FM BBP_PDH_WFL_APPROVER_CHANGE . It does not work.

A workflow has been implemented ( BADI N STEPS). When you create your SC, the workflow is launched and it returns you your list of approvers from Z tables.
Problem is that the workflow is launched only during creation and modification of the SC.
The client was a tool that will allow them to change approvers automatically( that is they won't have to login SRM portal and change manually )
In the program, you will type the name of the current approver and the new one.
the program must replace the current approver by the new in the Z tables( this is ok) and must transfer all the shopping carts of the current approver to the inbox of the new approver +
you must find the new approver in the SC instead of the old one.

  • Authentication mechanism in Oracle Portal

    Hi All,
Some quick questions related to SSO authentication:
    1.     From what I understand, to check the privileges on portal objects (after being authenticated), an API call is used to query WWSEC_SYS_PRIV table (ACL table) using the “user name” information as the only related pertinent information kept by the session. If an ACL is defined on “user group”, which table is checked to see which groups this “user name” belongs to before checking the object’s accessibility to this user?
    2.     How the to-be-answered table in question 1 (association users<->groups) be synchronized with OID? ex. If assignment user name- groups in OID changes how these changes be reflected to the table (real time or with delay)? What is the delay if exist?
    3.     Is the synchronization in 2 applies to OID dynamic group (calculated based on attribute) – I saw in some documents that dynamic group is not supported by Oracle Portal, but I saw a document implicitly stating that there is no problem with Portal-OID dynamic groups.
    Thanks a lot ,
