Shortcut for JWS application

Hi,
I'm writing an application by using JWS and JNLP.
When javaws generates a shortcut on desktop or in startmenu its parameter points to a jnlp-File in the webstart-cache.
Is there any chance to let javaws generate these shortcuts using parameter like "http://..."?
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
The short-cut created normally refers to the webstart-cache. But if there is any update then it will download the updates from the server. Thus it would look like it is running from the server.
In ur JNLP:
<shortcut online="true">
<desktop/>
<menu submenu="Application"/>
</shortcut>
Is this what ur looking for? Can u specify why u want to do this?

  • Keyboard shortcuts for APEX applications

    Hi,
    I want to add shortcut keys to my APEX application. I have already allowed users to show report, save and delete data using F-keys – I made it with javascript and doSubmit(request) function, invoking pl/sql procedure on F-key press.
    Unforutnatelly I don’t know how to invoke something else than pl/sql procedure or request. In my application I have several buttons, most of them are connected to procedures but one, that should have shortcut, invokes JS function. The problem is that I want to have one shortcut function for whole application and put it into library. So that procedures on each page has the same request, and it works very well, but I can’t simulate this way clicking on button with JS. JS invoking by this button is different for each page so I can’t just replace doSubmit() with it.
    Do you know any way to simulate clicking on the button or create shortcut for it? Button is displayed as <A> HREF with <IMG>.

  • Developing global shortcut for my application

    Hi, All!
    I need to solve following problem: call my applicaion with global shortcut. How can I do that?
    I used Carbon.
    Lora
    Mac mini   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    If it's not executable jar.. then what is it? Just bunch of classes?
    You can make it an executable jar, by using jar command.. eg. 'jar -cfm appname.jar manifest.mf appname' where the last argument (appname) is the package directory. Then you can wrap your jar into an exe, by using tools like launch4j or you can create one yourself using C for example. To deploy your application I would suggest Inno Setup.. it can create the shortcut for you as well.

  • Can I set up a shortcut for an application ?

    in a way that it will be activated whenever a shift+something is pressed (from any state of the phone) ?
    or maybe there exists a key that it funcionallity can be defined, that even better...

    there are shortcuts available on the Home screen provided you desactivate the "dial from home screen" option.
    for instance on a Curve :
    L for calendar
    B fro Browser
    A for Address Book
    M for messages
    but I think that's all the shortcuts you can get. And they are hardcoded.
    You can assign two applications on your soft keys on the sides of your Blackberry if you have a Curve.
    Other than that, you can use the Launchpad application :
    http://software.crackberry.com/product.asp?id=19028&n=LaunchPad
    Or you can tidy your applications using a special theme like the BB Dimension Zen (I have a shortcut on my Homescreen for the "Media" application and for the "Manage connections" application).
    The search box on top-right of this page is your true friend, and the public Knowledge Base too:

  • Shortcuts for opening Applications

    I have tried to set, for instance, F1 to open Word, but it doesn't work. The way I have tried is to open system Preferences, then Keyboard & mouse, then Keyboard Shortcuts, then +, then select an application. I've tried entering "Open" and "Open Microsoft Word" under "Menu Title," then setting the shortcut, to no avail. I'd like to set shortcuts to open several different apps. Can this be done?

    Will Spotlight do? Command-space, type word, press Enter. Spotlight is how I launch any app that is not already in my Dock. It's much faster than navigating through Finder windows with a mouse.
    Otherwise, you can use a program like Spark to set F keys to open applications.

    I was just curious if it was possible to be able to set up a keyboard shortkey that would enable you to launch your applications. Like Command+1 to open up safari. etc. Wanted to know if that was possible?

  • Application Shortcuts for Numbered Keyboard

    I just replaced my wireless keyboard with a wired one that had a number pad and extra F keys (F13 - F19).  Im trying to make these F keys shortcuts for opening applications.  Ive used the obvious "application shortcuts" in the keyboard control menu, but it doesnt seem to do anything.
    Am I missing an obvious step?
    Thanks!

       You might try one of these keyboard remapping programs.
    Glad you like it!
    Here is my other most favored application. Of course, I haven't checked these out in newer OS's. I'm a Tiger man myself.
    iKey is a front end program that simulates typing and mouse movements. I use iKey to remap the Function keys.
    "iKey is an automation utility, a program that creates shortcuts to accomplish repetitive tasks. In essence, an iKey shortcut is a little program in its own right, but you don't need to know the first thing about programming to create an iKey shortcut. All you have to do is put together three necessary parts of a shortcut: One or more commands that give the shortcut its functionality, a context in which it runs, and a launcher that defines how the shortcut is activated."
    http://www.scriptsoftware.com/ikey/
    iKey  has a little more function then the previous free version called youpi key. For many years, I used youpi key before switching to iKey.  It works fairly well for me in MAC OS 10.4 although not officially supported.  The youpi key download is hard to find & no longer here.
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/11485&vid=75326
    ( Send me a message for a copy of youpi  key. )
    *Examples:*
    I have the common programs that I use assigned to function keys. I have F4 assigned to Firefox. When I want to start FireFox, I press F4. When I want to switch to firefox, I press F4! Starting & switching to an application in Mac OS are the same thing in Mac OS.
    Here is an example of to assign volumn control to a function key.
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=10361085#10361085
    Here is my script for listing my application folder. I have it assigned to function-key 6.
    tell application "Finder"
       open folder "Applications" of startup disk
       select Finder window 1
       set bounds of Finder window 1 to {-3, 44, 691, 545}
       --set position of Finder window 1 to {33, 44}
       set position of Finder window 1 to {60, 45}
       activate
    end tell
    The second portion of this script was generated in the script editor record mode. After I recorded the script and did some editing, I copy the script to ikey/youpi key.

  • Keyboard shortcut for Control+F2, F, Enter

    Hello,
    I am trying to create a keyboard shortcut that would be available to all Applications deliveres the same result as these keystrokes:
    1. Control + F2 (move focus to menu bar)
    2. F (moves focus to the File menu bar menu)
    3. Enter or down arrow (Displays the File menu)
    WHat I am looking to do is create the Windows equivalent of alt+F (displays the contents of the File menu)
    I have created a System Preferences Keyboard Shortcut for All Applications that has "File" as the description and ^F has the Shortcut...this doesn't work. Is there a way to assign a shortcut to display the menu bar File menu in its open state?

    ReidRik_Von
    Here's one approach to try...
    1) Open System Preferences > Universal Access and make sure "Enable access for assistive devices" is checked.
    2) Highlight and copy the block of code below and paste it into your AppleScript Script Editor (located inside your Applications > AppleScript folder):
    *tell application "System Events"*
    *keystroke tab using command down*
    *set theApp to name of (first process whose frontmost is true)*
    *tell process theApp*
    *click menu bar item "File" of menu bar 1*
    *end tell*
    *end tell*
    Choose Save As from the Script Editor's File menu, File Format: application, leaving the Options unchecked. Give the script application a name (Display File Menu, e.g.), and press Save.
    3) To assign a keyboard shortcut, you might consider downloading and installing the excellent Spark program.
    From Spark's File menu, set up a New Hot Key to launch an Application, in this case the application being your newly created AppleScript application. When the new System HotKey sheet drops down, hit the Choose button and navigate to the location where your new AppleScript application was saved. Select it and press Open. Click inside the editable Shortcut field to make it active, and on your keyboard keystroke Option (alt), plus the letter "f." Then press Create.
    Start the Spark Daemon by selecting it from the File menu, or by pressing the Stark Spark Daemon button on the Spark panel itself, and then quit Spark altogether. The Spark Daemon and your enabled keyboard shortcut will run as a hidden process, using a minimal amount of RAM.
    It worked for me...
    Good luck!

  • Why can't I add keyboard shortcuts for Adobe GoLive 9?

    Since the demise of Unsanity's Menu Master on Leopard, I've been taking the more tedious (and problematic) route of using System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard Shortcuts to add and modify keyboard shortcuts for menu actions.
    I just tried to add my first shortcut to Adobe GoLive 9, which resulted in this uninformative error dialog:
    "You cannot add keyboard shortcuts for the application Adobe GoLive 9."
    Why? (The only real problem I've had with the previous 11 applications is ambiguous menu items, i.e., the same menu action name in more than one menu sub-action.)
    (I'm now resorting to an even more tedious shortcut technique - QuicKeys X3. QuicKeys is great, but it's overkill for a simple keyboard shortcut.)

    I've found another:
    "You cannot add keyboard shortcuts for the application Adobe Reader."

  • To create a desktop shortcut icon for the application for a jar file

    Hi
    I have created a jar file for my application. when i double click this jar file, the application opens.
    What i want is--
    Instead of user clicking on the jar file, my application also has to create a desktop shortcut icon.
    If the user clicks on the icon which is on the desktop the application should open.
    Please suggest me.
    Thanks in advance.

    >
    Please suggest me.>Launch the application using java webstart. A webstart launch offers things like a splash screen, automatic updates, and desktop integration in the form of desktop shortcuts and program menu items. If the launch file specifies icons, they are used for the shortcuts, otherwise a generic icon is used.
    For a comparison between a sandboxed webstart launch and a plain app., try the [Text Width Checker|http://pscode.org/twc/].
    While the TWC can run OK within the security sandbox, many applications need to be digitally signed and request extended permissions, to do what they need to do.
    STBC is an all-permissions webstart launch.
    Edit 1:
    And for one that definitely suggests desktop shortcuts (I usually avoid them, in favor of a menu item only), try the sandboxed [demo of the PrintService|http://pscode.org/jws/api.html#prs], which prompts the user to choose.

  • How do I generate a list of keyboard shortcuts for any given application

    I want to generate a list of keyboard shortcuts for all of the applications I have on my Mac. I want the list to be a simple text (or rtf) file that I can edit and organize. (By edit, I don't mean change the shortcuts, only the report of them.)
    I was using Key Cue, but it does not let me save the list to a text file.
    I want this for several purposes. One is to have a easy to reference list of shortcuts to learn. Another is to find unused key combinations that I can use for my own keyboard shortcuts that I create with DefaultKeyBinding.dict.
    Note: The program doesn't have to an OS X app. A program that runs from a shell without a GUI is plenty adequate.
    If there is a way to read the keyboard commands from a plist list or other such file, and any of you know the format for these or where I can find them, I can write a Perl script myself to do it.

    Well, the info is stored in...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.universalaccess.plist
    PlistPro has a way to convert it to ASCII, but you'll srtill have work to do, as...

  • I can't set shortcut for „Application windows"

    I can’t set shortcut for „Application windows” — first column with Fn key is OK, but the second column with mouse button doesn’t work. If I set „secondary mouse button” for „application windows”, it doesn’t work. But if I set „secondary mouse button” to „All windows”, it works! All mouse shortcuts for „All windows” or „Show desktop” work, but no mouse shortcut for „Application windows” work . The same with „Mouse button 3” and other buttons.
    Can you help me, please?

    Do you see the iTunes Library icon in the window? Click on it and the use the scroll bar to get to the tracks you want.
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
    Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Creating Icon from JWS Application

    Hi,
    I have a quick question:
    I would like to be able to launch a JWS application from a web page and have a desktop icon added to the desktop -- kind of like a "normal" application would if you used installshield to install it.
    I know that I can add the
    <shortcut>
         <desktop submenu="Docs Express"/>
         <menu submenu="Docs Express"/>
    </shortcut>
    XML to the JNLP, but the default behavior of the JRE seems to be to "prompt" the user to add the icon.
    Can I either send a flag into the JRE installation (via a PARAM) telling it to set the default behaviour to "Always" or somehow use the shortcut element to tell it to "force" a shortcut to be installed.?

    No, I don't think you can force a desktop shortcut (or any kind of other desktop integration for that matter). The user has to make that decision.
    But then, most Installshield applications ask if you want a shortcut on the desktop too...
