Should I backup an iPod Touch to iCloud?

My husband has an iPhone 5 which he recently backed up to iCloud. He also has an old iPod Touch which he wants to sell. However, it contains hundreds of songs. What's the best way to backup this music? He doesn't want to put the music on his iPhone but he doesn't want to delete the songs either. Is it possible to backup more than 2 devices to iCloud? Or would it be better to use a third party to backup the music from the iPod Touch (I've used Senuti in the past).

IiCloud keeps a separate backup for each device. Note that only a record of iTunes-purchased music is backed up not the actual music files themselves. If you restore using the backup the music will be reloaded from iTunes.

due to the virus attack i had to format my windows laptop...now when i installed new itunes software i had to sync my ipod touch again but it says that if i do it then the data present on my ipod touch will be erased as it is syncd to some older library... how should i protect my ipod touch data?

With all you media (apps, music) in the iTunes library connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup. Do that by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up. Then restore the iPod from that backup.
Note the the iPod backup that iTunes makes does not included synced media like apps and music.

How can i change the save and backup destination for iTunes so i can backup and transfer my purchases(apps) onto the new hard drive? Without having to backup and save my apps onto the current hard drive because there's no space left on it. Thanks!

    Try:

    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I have just got an iPad and I want the music to be transferred through my iPod touch using iCloud but I didn't get the music from iTunes so I don't think it will let me do it. Do you have any tips that could help me?

Only photos taken with the iPad, copied onto it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad - either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view.
Photos that were synced from a computer are deleted by moving/removing/de-selecting them from where they were synced from and then re-syncing. If you want to remove them all then normally you could just sync an empty folder (in terms of photos) to the iPad, but as you don't want to sync at the moment you can't do that.
You can reset the iPad back to factory settings and start from scratch with it : Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content And Settings

  • A way to use my old 1G Ipod touch with Icloud?

Can I use an 1G Ipod touch with ICloud if I set up a PC with Itunes 10.6 and then sync the Ipod on that PC? (Currently I do sync the Ipod to a Itunes 10.6 library on the PC but have not set it up it ICloud yet)

We are all fellow users on here and not Apple employees so have freedom in what we say and opinions expressed.
I fully agree that it can be frustrating to have to make replacement decisions when a piece of equipment is working fine.  I have an iMac G5 that has been working great since 2005...but the operating system is way out of date, and now the computer is starting to act up so have decided to go ahead and replace it.  Also have a MacBook Pro that is great, iPad, iPod, iPhone, PC laptop and Sun Sparc workstation, so your compatibility questions and concerns are very familiar.
If your components are playing nice at this point, keep doing what you are doing, in the engineering world we have an expression, If it ain't broke don't fix it.
As to the iPad, that device can be wonderful or just a toy according to how you decide to use it.  It is almost a computer in itself...I say almost because you cannot just download applications other than those in the app store, and some things like word processing are not quite as straight forward as with a computer.  But with AirPrint, if you have a compatible printer, you can seemlessly print directly from the iPad.
I carry mine almost all the time, and often on travel do not bother with the MBP.  The wealth of apps makes it a very powerful tool.  The downside, in addition to not having certain applications I want to use, is the virtual keyboard.  It works well, but for my hand size is slow to type on.
Best advice on that score is go to an Apple store or reseller and spend some quality time up close and personal with an iPad and get to know it before purchase.  And keep in mind it is very powerful but is not intended to actually replace a laptop in every function.
