Should I go with Crystal upgrade??

I had the following architecture: one 6140 array controller connected to 2 CSM200 expansions, all of them are having the 06.60.22.x firmware revision. 2 weeks ago, I purchased two new CSM200 arrays for which i don't know what firmware revisions do they have!! how can I check their firmware revisions to know if i have to go with the crystal upgrade?

Parker731, I was in the same situation as you just a few months ago. I'm a new college student, and I was making the choice whether to stick with Windows or whether to purchase my first Apple computer. Needles to say, I went ahead and purchased a Macbook, and it's awesome. I can honestly say that I'm never going back to Windows again.
Of course, it's not for everyone. However, based on your questions, it seems like a good choice. My 2.0GHz 80GB Macbook (similar to the one you're considering buying, minus the iwork) is great for photos, videos and school papers, and is extemely easy to get used to. I wouldn't know about the router, though; I use a netgear, but linksys should be okay.
You're hearing about a lot of problems in these forums, but don't let it discourage you. The people with the problems are the ones who turn to the forums for help, and they represent a small minorty of the millions of users worldwide.
Or, buying a Windows computer is always an option. Not exactly preferred in these Apple forums, but the choice is COMPLETELY YOURS! However, like most of the others here, I would recommend a Toshiba as opposed to a Dell. The price of the Dell right now might look attractive with all the school specials going on, etc. But if you go the windows route, Toshiba's quality is superior to Dell's and you'll be glad you picked it instead.

Yes. Have you checked in your CC Desktop app to see if Lightroom CC is available for Install (and Photoshop should be showing Update). If it's not showing, sign-out of the app and sign back in again. App coded in Crystal XI need to be compatiable with Crystal 2008. Options?
Dear All,
The product I am working on, works fine with Crystal XI. But now task is to make it work for clients that have just Crystal 2008 (not Crystal XI). (Even assuming there is no new feature that Crystal 2008 offer is planned in this existing application.)
I was wondering what would be the best bet to make that application compatiable? Certainly we do not want to have two seperate application coded separatly for Crystal XI and Crystal 2008.
I will appreciate any information, feedback, guidance that you can provide on this.
Thanksam actually using Visual Studio .NET 2008 only with Crystal Reports XI R2. I was not aware of the fact that Crystal Reports XI R2 does not work with Visual Studio 2008. It could be that since I have both Visual Studio 2005 and 2008 in my machine, and this could be referring to old one.
I believe Visual Studio 2008 came with .NET framework 3.5 and in theory 3.5 does all that 2.0 used to do. So I am not sure what would be the reason of .NET 2008 not supporting it. May be I am missing something, please help me clarify?

.NET 2008 is not listed. That is as far as this discussion should need to go. E.g.; do not use CR XI r2 with .NET 2008, or .NET 2010 when it comes out - if you do, you're on your own.
Option-1) Now my worry is can same application; when installed on a client who has just crystal report 2008 (not upgrade from XI-R2) run-time installed, will work OK?
As long as you run CR XI r2 with the supported version of .NET (e.g.; in your case .NET 2005) there will be no issues after installing CR 2008 as CR 2008 and CR XI r2 are side by side compatible. One thing I would highly discourage is running reports created in CR 2008 with CR XI r2.
Option-2) Is there any change in existing code, I need to do so that irrespective of what run-time environment client has (XI R2 or, Crystal 2008), my application runs fine without any issue?
If you install CR 2008 SP0 after installing .NET 2008, you should not need any code modification to an already working app. All that will happen is that the CR assemblies will get upgraded to version 12.x. Of course, you then need to distribute the CR 2008 runtime to your client / server computers.
Any other option...

Sub report parameter prompt appears when running Visual Studio 2008 with Crystal Reports 2008

If I build a simple Crystal Report that contains another simple Crystal Sub Report, the report will print preview fine in Crystal 2008. The problem happens when add this report to a Visual Studio 2008 Web Application Project and I build and debug the application, the Crystal Viewer is prompting the user for the parameter used to link the sub report to the main report. This should never happen as the user is not supposed to see this parameter. If I type in some value for this sub-report parameter prompt, the Crystal Report Viewer gives an error message about not finding the field.
I was having the same problem in Vs2005 with Crystal 10 which is why I upgraded. Business Object's official fix for this problem was published under their KB article number c2018840 and c2019047. These hot fixes ended up causing general exception errors in Visual Studio so I scrapped these solutions.
Support had me install SP0 for Crystal 2008 (which did not fix it).
Any ideas?

First thing to do is upgrade to Service Pack 2 and runtime.
then search this forum for PrintOutputController to handle the printing. P2P is limited in it's abilities and functionality and will not be fixed or updated.
Update your Printer Drivers and if it's a web app search MSDN for info on how to expose the WEB server to your printers.

I received a notice that I should upgrade to the Firefox 4. After I did the upgrade I then got a notice that Norton wasn't compatible with the the upgrade. How do I go about getting my Norton Security to work with this upgrade. So right now I have nothing in which is protecting my computer while surfing. Nothing against your product BUT I want what I already had/have to be the one protecting my computer. So what needs to be done so I can have my existing computer security to work with this upgrade. Otherwise I'll go back to the previous version which did work with Norton.
Symantec need to update their Firefox add-ons so that they are compatible with Firefox 4. They have indicated that for Norton 360 they plan to release an update to Norton 360 to support Firefox 4 in early May - http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20100720113635EN&ln=en_US
I do not know about the time scale for updates for other Norton products. Pending the update by Symantec, if you want to use the Norton add-ons you will need to downgrade to Firefox 3.6.
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

Problems deploying VS 2005 Web Site with Crystal Reports
If it's not one assembly reported missing, it's another. Runs fine on my local machine, but can't deploy to a test environment on my company's server. How can I force crystal to install everything on the server that is needed so that my clients (end users) can run this report?
We are not running Crystal RAS.
When I set up my msi, I made sure to set it to take assemblies from my local machine. Yet, my local machine does not seem to contain all of the assemblies that it needs. They're not showing up in the bin anyway.
I am using non-embedded report files (as you can see from my code below) so that I can change reports on the fly, if necessary without recompiling the entire app.
I am using the ReportDocument object.

BobOkay. So I installed the correct MSMs, opened the deployment document that came with it entitled, "Crystal Reports for .net Framework 2.0 - Deployment using Merge Modules" and got to page 4. At the bottom of page 4. It had me create a new Web Setup Project. The MSMs are included in the project, as they should be.
On page 4, #7, it says "Build the project."
#8 says Run your development setup.
There are 3 panes on my VS interface (4 including the Solution Explorer). To me, they look like they need the information regarding what Web Site this is to deploy.
I don't see any instructions on how to do this. I just blew away my old MSIs that I created because the previous document said not to use them.
So, how do I add my Web Site to these panes?

What should I do with my MuVo Sli
Hi There. Basically im trying to get some advice on what to do with my Creative Muvo Slim (52 MB) DAP. I originally bought it 02/09/05 but had to get it exchanged on 02/4/05 because the backlight would never turn off even with firmware upgrades.
So I got the new one and everything has been working great until about a week ago. One day, I turned on my player and didn't hear anything. Restarted and it worked, but then after about two songs it froze. Had to take out battery to restart then it worked fine for about an hour. Suddenly a song was playing that I wanted to play a little louder, but the player froze again, but was still playing the song until it froze completely at the end.
Finally I took out the battery and restarted again. But I didn't play anything. I hooked up the original earphones and hit play, and it worked fine. But all of a sudden I VERY LIGHTY ran my finger across the player and it froze again. Then after about 20 times of testing, it turns out that the player ALWAYS freezes when im touching it. If there is absolutely no movement, it plays fine. If im careful, I can change songs, volume, settings, etc. But the only way to do so is like a surgeon while placing the player on top of my palm.
Finally after about 2 days, I was listening to it when it finally just turned off. It didn't want to turn on anymore for the rest of the day. I tried the next day and it worked for a while, so I backed up my music (All MP3's) then it shut down after a few minutes.
Since the first thing I thought was maybe a bad battery. I got someone to lend me the one from theirs. But it unfortunately didn't turn on. And when mine turns on, the battery has a full three bars.
Since this is getting kind of long, Im thinking it might be something hardware related, but I have never once dropped or mistreated this DAP in any way. Not a single dent on it. Hell, I never took it out of it's black case Except for the battery change. And whenever im not using it, I put it in a padded drawer all by itself. Locked, of course.
I bought this at circuit city for $39.99 +Tax , and this "Protection Plan" for another $34.98 paying a total of $86.52 w/Tax . I called and they said that it doesn't qualify for a return because the damage was done "Accidentally" and that it was My Fault. I said it was BS, so now im kinda stuck here. So in short ( Heh )I'd try Circuit City again. If they still give you the "accident" BS, try the Better Business Bureau, your state's Attorney General, arbitration, or small claims court. If you need repairs while your dispute is pending with Circuit City, contact Creative Customer Support; you should still be under at least the parts warranty, and will only have to pay $25 for labor (which Circuit City should be made to reimburse you for).

Why am I having performance Issues with an upgrade from CS2 to CS5.5?
I am struggling hard with an upgrade from InDesign CS2 to CS5.5 (part of CS5.5 Design Standard)
There is a very slow response when trying to produce a 45 page document which needs many .jpeg images inserting, sometimes up to six on each 3-column page. While InDesign behaves sort of normally on text only pages, it slows to a virtual standstill when on the pages with images. (But this is what its for and I didn't have this problem with CS2!!)
Having read through some of the postings on this topic I have followed all the advice without success :-(
1) disable LSD in Preferences – Interface
2) disable thumbnail display in Pages
3) adjust view settings to Typical with Raster and Vector Images greyed out
4) disable Save Preview Images with Documents
5) check Links before opening documents
7) switch Preflight off
I shouldn't need to do all this should I???

4.0 GB RAM
ATII Radeon HD5570 graphics card 2779 MB available memory, 1024MB dedicated
plenty of free space – 274GB on c: drive and 296 GB on a D: drive
My hardware conforms to/exceeds the Indesign recommended hardware spec. Oh yes I am working on my local drive and I don't have these problems with Photoshop or Illustrator CS5.5.
Has anyone an idea about what's going on?

Thanks - I've found that the files were marked as 'hidden' and thus by switching them on gain I was able to recreate the original location. Regrettably this has had absolutely no effect on my problem. :-(
I have now created a fresh document, studiously linking all my images properly (similar number to a DK 'Eyewitness Travel Guide') and by the time I got halfway through its 80 pages, InDesign had slowed to a crawl - ie 15-20 seconds to respond to any command. It is clearly doing something that it thinks necessary despite all the 'workarounds' people have suggested. Please please Adobe what's going on??? -

Detail sections not displayed with Crystal Reports 2010 Runtime (SP1 also)
I have migrated a VB app from RDC 9 to Crystal Reports 2010 and I'm experiencing a very strange issue.
In a report with 6 nested groups, the detail part is splitted in 7 section, and the whole detail has the "keep together" flag activated. At runtime, some detail sections are not displayed. There is no suppress condition on the detail section. The missed sections are those near bottom of the page. I suppose that when there is no room to print the section on the page and it should go on the next page, Crystal forget to display it.
I exported the report in Crystal format and reopened with Crystal Reports designer and the missed section are displayed.
The same report is displayed correctly using RDC 9.
If I show the group tree and select the missed section group, the section is correctly displayed on a separate preview page.
I've some screenshot to better demonstrate the problem.
I hoped SP1 will resolve the issue but unfortunately it didn't.

INTERNET CONNECTION NOT DETECTED message with Crystal Reports 2011

We upgrade from SQL 3008 R2 to SQL 2012 SP1. Had trouble with Crystal Reports not opening reports. Information on the internet indicated that you had to reinstall Crystal Reports after upgrading SQL. We did a repair of Crystal Reports 2011. I have the box checked to check for updates when Crystal Reports starts. I am now getting INTERNET CONNECTION NOT DETECTED and the application will not check for updates. We have tried turning of the firewall and almost everything else we can think of. I have access to the internet from that server and IE9 works just fine. Can anyone help, please.

Issue with Crystal 11 and Activex Viewer
Hi All,
We have been using Crystal Enterprise 10 for long without any issues, Recently we had to move to Crystal 11 as our clients are not able to buy Crystal 10 any more.
The crystal Report is run from our product using the activex viewer .The Report is invoked by passing
the url in the following manner
'/CSM/reports/Crystal//Case%20Solution%20Time.rpt?init=actx&USER0=sa&PASSWORD0='
This worked perfectly with Crystal 10.
But when trying to run the report with Crystal 11 it opens a file download box and then opens up the report in design time in Crystal Reports itself and not in the browser.
I am not sure if this is a know problem or if things have changed (parameters etc.). I need to get this problem sorted asap. Any info on it is highly appreciated.

Thanks! I agree with you completely. I love my computer, it does everything I need it to. I have no reason to upgrade to a whole new computer just because it has new bells and whistles, or is marginally faster than what I have. I'm not using it for gaming, and I don't mind waiting an extra second or 2 for internet pages to load.Firefox has been a wonderful program. it would be shame if they force us to switch to something that is not as good.

Procedure for logging in PL/SQL
I am looking for a way to log sqlplus output from within a pl/sql procedure. When run through SQL*PLUS directly I can use SPOOL. Is there any way to do the same from within PL/SQL? Following is an example of what I was previously executing as a .sql
