"SHOW ALL" command in RMAN
Hi
I need to understand, what does RMAN use to read configuration info in case of No Recovery catalog.
We all know that it read from Control file about backup information.
But, when my database is in NOMOUNT mode, I connect to rman target /
Then I run show all; command.
It displays RMAN configuration, Where is this information stored?
Any idea?
Thanks in advance
Hi,
Did you compare the output of the <show all ;> commands in nomount and mount (or open) mode?
In nomount you get the defaults :
RMAN configuration parameters are:
CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY TO REDUNDANCY 1; # default
CONFIGURE BACKUP OPTIMIZATION OFF; # default
CONFIGURE DEFAULT DEVICE TYPE TO DISK; # default
CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP OFF; # default
CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP FORMAT FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO '%F'; # default
CONFIGURE DEVICE TYPE DISK PARALLELISM 1 BACKUP TYPE TO BACKUPSET; # default
CONFIGURE DATAFILE BACKUP COPIES FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 1; # default
CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG BACKUP COPIES FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 1; # default
CONFIGURE MAXSETSIZE TO UNLIMITED; # default
CONFIGURE ENCRYPTION FOR DATABASE OFF; # default
CONFIGURE ENCRYPTION ALGORITHM 'AES128'; # default
CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY TO NONE; # default
In mount mode you get the actual settings:
using target database control file instead of recovery catalog
RMAN configuration parameters are:
CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY TO REDUNDANCY 1; # default
CONFIGURE BACKUP OPTIMIZATION OFF; # default
CONFIGURE DEFAULT DEVICE TYPE TO DISK; # default
CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP ON;
CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP FORMAT FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO '%F'; # default

CONFIGURE MAXSETSIZE TO UNLIMITED; # default
CONFIGURE ENCRYPTION FOR DATABASE OFF; # default
CONFIGURE ENCRYPTION ALGORITHM 'AES128'; # default

Solaris command to show all network interfaces in a server (plumb/unplumb)?
Hi there,
Is there a Solaris command to show all the network interfaces in a server
(plumb/unplumb etc...).
I have a V880 that has an eri0 on board, plumbed up. It also has a couple
of ge0, ge1, and ce0, and a qfe card.
ifconfig -a only shows eri0.
(I am using something like "dladm show-link", but this is really for
the link-aggregation).
How do I show the remaining network interfaces?
Thanks
TonyYou can see all installed interfaces by running 'grep network /etc/path_to_inst'. An example:
grep network path_to_inst
"/node@1/pci@8,600000/network@1" 0 "ge"
"/node@1/pci@9,700000/network@1,1" 0 "eri"
"/node@1/pci@9,700000/pci@2/network@0" 0 "ce"
"/node@1/pci@9,700000/pci@2/network@1" 1 "ce"
"/node@1/pci@9,700000/pci@2/network@2" 2 "ce"
"/node@1/pci@9,700000/pci@2/network@3" 3 "ce"
"/node@1/pci@9,600000/network@2" 4 "ce"
shows, ge0, eri0, ce0 - ce4 -
Finder: Command K does not show all CIFS/SMB volumes on server
Greetings:
I use the Command-K to connect to a NetApp storage server in our office; if I issue this:
smb://server
or
cifs://server
I only get some of the shares and not all of them. If do the same on a Windows machine by using the command "net view \\server" it shows all the available shares.
Question: is there any limitation? Any tips, perhaps on the NetApp side?
Best regards
ClaudioWe are experinceing the same issue. It appears to have limitations on the length of the share/volume name.
smbclient from the command line shows all of them but Apple+K doesn't -
Delete all AVAILABLE valid RMAN backup by RMAN command
Hi
We are taking RMAN full backup on disk every day. But right now we don’t have enough space on RMAN backup mount point. So we want to delete all AVAILABLE valid RMAN backup by RMAN command.
Please guide to delete all AVAILABLE valid RMAN backup by RMAN command.
-Thanks
Edited by: Fazlul Kabir Mahfuz on May 13, 2013 11:06 AMYou can do it by manually delete the backups and archivelogs from OS location. Then use below commands
RMAN>crosscheck backup;
It will give status as EXPIRED for backups which are valid but not available at OS level.
RMAN>delete expired backup;
Delete all the backups whose status are EXPIRED from database level.
Similarly for archivelogs
RMAN>crosscheck archivelog all;
RMAN>delete expired archivelog all; -
I am using Firefox 7.0.1 on Mac 10.7.2, my downloads window and my show all history window would not open. After trying everything, I had to remove all my firefox information from the computer and reinstall then make a new profile with the profile manager. That fixed it but when I re-installed download helper the problem occurred again. I repeated this to make sure it was download helper.
I located the problem and it is not Downloadhelper. When I open firefox on my second monitor (I use an imac and a second monitor for dual screen) I can no longer see my downloads window.

Understanding order of commands in RMAN script
I just started working at a new job and the prior DBA had already left before I got there. I'm looking at his RMAN script to backup the 11gR2 single instance database and I can't understand what is the need for two "crosscheck backup" commands? Wouldn't it be prudent to also have a "crosscheck backup of archivelog all" command as well? Also, what is the point of having the "restore database preview" command in the daily backup script?
run
crosscheck backup;
recover copy of database with tag 'ORA$OEM_LVL1_ILANDB_PRIM' until time 'SYSDATE-1';
backup incremental level 1 for recover of copy with tag 'ORA$OEM_LVL1_ILANDB_PRIM' database plus archivelog delete all input;
delete noprompt obsolete;
restore database preview;
crosscheck backup;
}Here is how RMAN is currently configured. How do you suggest I clean this up?
RMAN> show all;
using target database control file instead of recovery catalog

Safari show all tabs doesn't work all the time
It is annoying: safari show all tabs doesn't work all the time. The little icon to the right of the "New Tab" area sometimes works, and sometimes doesn't. The Shift Command Back-slash, sometimes works, and sometimes doesn't. I find no rhyme nor reason for this. I have a MacBook Pro, Mountain Lion, the latest updates. It doesn't matter if I am in Full Screen or not.
I am quite confused regarding this.Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type of copy paste the following:
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, empty the cache more often from your keyboard.

How to show all view tab (Main Report and all Sub Report) in Visual FoxPro 9
I use ActiveX from Crystal Report Developer XI for viewer in Visual FoxPro 9 and I already know how to show Main Report by using command:
oRptRun=createobject("CrystalRuntime.Application")
oRptView=thisform.oleRptViewer
oRptOpen=oRptRun.OpenReport('MyReport.rpt')
oRptView.ReportSource=oRptOpen
oRptView.ViewReport
Inside the MyReport.rpt there is two subreport name :
1. MySubReport1
2. MySubReport2
My Question is :
How to show all view tab (Main Report and all Sub Report) at the 1st time we call ViewReport?
I try to using command :
oRptRun=createobject("CrystalRuntime.Application")
oRptView=thisform.oleRptViewer
oRptOpen=oRptRun.OpenReport('MyReport.rpt')
oRptSub=oRptOpen.OpenSubreport("MySubReport1")
oRptSub=oRptOpen.OpenSubreport("MySubReport2")
oRptView.ReportSource=oRptOpen
oRptView.ViewReport
but only show Main Report (view tab name : Preview)?
Did I miss any command before I call oRptView.ViewReport?Your right, there is only one tab to view the report.
To open the subreports you will need to click on them in the main report. I don't know of a way to open them programmatically like you are doing here

What does one do when iPhoto version 7.1.5 only opens one event without showing all photos or any other events?
Depends -what other clues? What recently changed? Do you have a good current backup? best guess is to Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - and repair the database - if that does not resolve things rebuild your iPhoto library database

A way to copy the list of URL's in "Show All History"?
Sometimes I want to make a copy of the websites I've been to during a particular session.
Although the URL's are clearly shown on the 'Show All History' screen, I'm not aware of any way to select them 'as text' -- e.g., so that I can then copy-and-paste them as a list into a document, email, etc.
Is there any way to do this?
(I'm not referring to a way of getting a 'non-editable' list, such as via a screenshot.)Hello, stevenray1.
I am not sure the following is what you need, but just in case.
In Safari, I am able to go to History –> Show All History.
Click once on the first item listed under “Last Visited Today” to highlight it.
Use Command + A to select all items and highlight them.
Use Command + C to copy all items.
Launch a word processing application and use Command + V to paste in the information from the clipboard.
The http addresses are pasted and editable.
Sincerely,
No Alibi. -
"Show All" in Spotlight missing the number of items that were found?
how do i allow Spotlight results page to display the total number of results for the search?
say i search for "compare" the top result would be Show All (427), the 427 being the number times Spotlight found the word "compare"
anyone have a solution?Hi Mike, they dropped the number of results in 10.5, perhaps because they dropped the Spotlight window you got in Tiger when you clicked Show All--which did in fact show all the items in the menu bar list. In Leopard when you click on Show All you get a regular search window, just as if you had hit Command-F to start with, with the defaults set for "This Mac" and "Content"--but you won't see the same number of results because the things returned using the menu bar Spotlight and the things returned using a search window differ. I presume they dropped the number because people would be very confused if the menu bar obviously had 30 items and clicking Show All resulted in a list of only 10 items.

opmn_processDMStool displays the DMS metrics of the system dynamically. DMS will not have the DMS metrics for the component, if the component is NOT up and running. In your first case, there was no OC4J JVM up and running. Therefore, there was no metric related to OC4J including JVM. To verify this, you could issue the following command:
dmstool -t opmn_process
dmstool would list DMS metrics of the processes started by OPMN. You would see there is no JVM process started.
In your second case, OC4J finally started. So you saw the metrics for OC4J JVMs.
DMS obtains process information from OPMN. It takes some time for OC4Js to start up and register themselves with OPMN. This is why you noticed the delay.
Hope this help.
