Show CSS comments in CSS Style list?

Hi,
I've been using Dreamweaver for a numbef of years, but one small feature is forcing me to move away to newer CSS editors. "I need the CSS Style list to show comments from my style sheet". Is this possible?
Put simply, some of my CSS stylesheets are huge, and I organise them by having comments to separate out the various types of selectors.
In order for me to navigate my styles, it would help me immensely if the CSS Style list also included comments, so I could quickly see which section was which.
Is this something which I've missed?
Thanks,
Chris.l

Hello,
I believe I've had a similar problem over the last day or so (wasted 3 hours).
I create a "standard" page with all my basic stuff in it.
Then create two sections with comments like this:
<!--------------------- Start variable <style> definitions------------------------------>
<!---------------------Endvariable <style> definitions-------------------------------->
<!--------------------- Start variable code------------------------------>
<!---------------------Endvariable code-------------------------------->
So this way, I can just go quickly to that section of the <header> or <body> and copy and paste code.
(I'm not at the level of templates yet)
After three hours of trying to get a table to work, and comparing it to other stuff I've written
I said to myself "I wonder if comments are allowed in the <style> section".
The comments were deleted and everything worked fine.
Based on the above posts, I'm guessing that is a known feature?
Is it correct that comments can be put in the <head> section, but not in the <head><style> section?
Again, I thank you in advance.

  • Css styles listing for modules by any chance?

hi guys I'm finding the amount of css code inside the modules style list over whelming has any one gone to the trouble of making a list for people like me to be able to easily find the right css for the right module.
For example yesterday some one had to point out the code for the cart summary box was line 520! is there a list to tell me were all the code for the announcement module starts and finishes? Over wise its not a very speedy process and I thought web designing was meant to be more geared to time management these days

    Hi there,
Easiest way is to use Firebug - a plugin for Firefox.  Once installed, browse to the page required then click F12 which will open Firebug. Top left of the Firebug panel, click the second icon to select an element on the page, select an element and, ensuring you have HTML selected, you will see the css, including file and line numbers, for the relevant element.  Hit me up on Skype if you want me to show you via share screen - graphitewebsolutions.

  • CSS - Specifically bulleted and numbered lists

i am really struggling with the css and the bulleted and number list format.
i have so many questions i do not know where to begin so i will start with what i think should be just plain common sense:
    1.  i originally imported a css into the robohelp 8 project and have worked for a couple of weeks trying to straighten out the styles with no success
so today i started from scratch creating a new cascading style sheet but i have real questions about what i have created, where i can see it, how i can apply it and how it DOES NOT reflect in the toolbar styles drop down list.
    first question:
i have a custom style sheet that clearly shows i have a list style defined called 'bullet1'.  i can see the style in my formatting pod (pane) but i do not see it in the styles drop down list on the formatting toolbar.  so why are my styles from my CSS not in the styles drop down list on the formatting toolbar and also, when i apply a style (say from the formatting pod/pane) shouldnt the drop down styles list reflect the style name when it is clicked on? For example:  i clearly applied the bullet1 style (from the formatting pod/pane) and saved the topic.  when i go and click on the bullet1 list, the style drop down on the formatting menu still says (none).  no matter what i do, the only style that is reflected in the styles drop down field on the formatting toolbar (when i click on the text) is heading1 and heading2 but other than that, any numbered or bulleted style i create and apply does not show that that style has been applied.
    second question:
what is the difference between the formatting pod (Pane) and the styles drop down list on the formatting toolbar?  from experience with word, the styles drop down list on the formatting toolbar should reflect the current style when a character or paragraph is selected....it does not here in robohelp.
    third question:
why does the style drop down list only show a few styles out of all of the styles that show in my CSS?
    forth question:
can i assume that if i have a css created and applied TO ALL topics in the project that the 'formatting' pod/pane will show only those styles from that css?  i am very confused on what i am seeing in the formatting pod/pane.  are these JUST the custom styles created for a particular style sheet?  are these ALL styles available in robohelp?
i am not liking how difficult it is to create a style (specifically bullets and numbers) , apply a style and to view the style that has been applied!
    help!

    Hi,
Drop down list shows paragraphs, headings and character styles. Also when you create a class style (.myclass) without a element selector, this style will show in the drop down list.

    Hi
Highlight the css from the document and select - Format - css styles - move css rules. Select new style sheet from the dialog, name the style sheet and save. Check that a link has been created for the new style sheet, if not select attach style sheet from the - Format - css styles list.

I have a navigation list based on a query but it has some extended lines at the bottom, what CSS code should work in order to solve this problem? i don't have a CSS knowledge about this one..CSS needs something to style, so the presence of the additional lines may indicate that there is additional mark-up. Suggest you replicate the problem on apex.oracle.com or post the generated HTML source for the region here.
Additionally your sample image contains other visible glitches on the buttons. This may indicate that the problem is in your browser rather than the APEX CSS. Which browser(s)/version(s) exhibit the problem?
Please also always provide basic information relevant to your problem that will help others to understand or replicate it, generally:
    - APEX version
    - DB version and edition

  • Can you create a keyboard shortcut to insert a css comment (/*  */)in DW?

    hello DW knowers!
When writing code i like to use shortcuts for inserting commands.
For instance, to insert a html comment, i created a shortcut in the panel for creating shortcuts (you can do this finding in the shortcuts panel the 'insert' option and then find 'comment').
however, i did not find a way to create this for a css comment (/*   */) and i find myself forced to use the coding toolbar to insert this.
I would really like to find a way to avoid this. Ofcoarse i can still type it in manually, or use the css rules panel to temporarely  deactivate a rule, but selecting a piece of code and then typing a shortcut would be much easier.
Otherwise a great idea for the next upgrade of DW?
thanks for an answer, if there is a possibility
    jo-ann

I use a Logitech G19 keyboard, which allows you to create one keypress shortcuts for virtually any keypress sequence. It has ten extra keys on the left side of the keyboard which you can program however you please (a total of 30 shortcuts). This particular keyboard is kind of expensive ($200) but there are other less expensive keyboards that offer similar capabilities. Think how many times a day you type <p> or how about <a href= . With a keyboard like this, you can do it in one keypress.

  • CSS Comments in DW CS3

rally like the new preset css configurations that DW3
provides and the css comments are nice as well. However, they
bloats the code and many of the comments are not necessary unless
    you are a beginner.
Does anyone know if there is a setting somewhere that will
generate the css without the comments?

Use a find/replace to delete them:
    Find:
    \/\*[\s\S]*?\*\/
Make sure regular expression is checked.

  • CSS menu not maintaining style in browser view...

I posted this earlier, but realized posted it under a wrong name, will delete my old post here in a sec.
I started making changes to an old  website of mine, and have added in some new CSS based menus.  When I  view my new homepage in Live View everything looks right, the styles are  all working, but when I hit F-12 to view the page in browser mode (both  IE and Firefox) one menu loses its style completely and reverts to  plain text while the other keeps part of the style but loses the color.   Here is the code, not sure what the problem is, I have checked to make  sure everything is linked properly but my coding may be off.  Because I  have checked the coding over and over for the past hour I'm not sure if  it is a DW5 error or me.

    <li><a href="" target="_self"  >
Why are you importing the CSS?
    <style  media="all" type="text/css">@import  "/dropdown_menu/menu_style.css";</style>
No doubt the reason you are losing styles is that you have used a root relative link to the imported CSS file.  Go to PREFERENCES > Preview in Browser, and enable preview using temp files.  Let us know if that helps, please.

  • CSS Comment Tags in Menu Tab?

Is there a way to add CSS comment tags to my FAVORITES menu
tab? Whenever I want to add comments to an external CSS document, I
have to manually type /*...*/. It would be great if there was a
comment button for CSS, like there is for HTML, so I could just
select the text I want to comment out, click a button, and it
automatically wraps the CSS in comment tags.

There is. It's on the Code toolbar.

  • Sample Command Output of show chassis inventory for CSS

    Hi,
I am trying to get a sample command output of "show chassis inventory" for:
    CSS 11501
    CSS 11503
    CSS 11506
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance.
    Mike

    Hi Mchi,
When I use the command: show chassis inventory. I found :
    Slot  Module                           Serial
    1     CSS5-SCM-2GE F0   JABxxxxxxx
    2     CSS5-IOM-2GE E0   JAB08xxxxxx
    3     CSS5-IOM-8FE F0   JAB0xxxxxxx
    4     CSS503-SM-INT     JAB09xxxxxxx
this is the switch fabric module that connects the other modules.
This is an internal module and it can't be removed/replaced.
Use the show chassis command to display a chassis configuration for the CSS. The syntax and options for this command are as follows:
•show chassis - Displays a summary of the chassis configuration.
•show chassis slot number  - Displays the operational parameters for a slot in a CSS 11503 or CSS  11506 chassis. Enter an integer value for the chassis slot number.
•show chassis verbose - Displays detailed information about the chassis configuration.
•show chassis flash - Displays the operational and locked Flash software code on the CSS  11501, and the CSS 11503 or CSS 11506 SCM and I/O modules. An asterisk  (*) character before a Flash version of code and build number indicates  that it is active.
•show chassis inventory - Displays the physical configuration of the CSS including part and serial numbers.
•show chassis session-processors - Displays the weight and power summary of the session processors in the CSS chassis.
    CSS11506# show chassis inventory

Even a "show chassis verbose" command does  not indicate the presence of a GBIC.  It shows the Operational Status of  a port as "online" whether there is a GBIC installed or not.  For  example, in the output below Slot 4 has a GBIC installed in port 4/1,  but 4/2 is empty:

  • Make Inspector show original colour in css

I appreciate that inspector now has options other than rgb and rgba to display colours but..
Default colour unit should have an 'original' option, to display the colour the way it was actually written.
Why firefox does has to modify the css, and not show the actual, original css.
Sometimes you have to use extra rules, like prefixes, and inspector won't show those. I know, it's only showing the rule that firefox uses, meaning it ignores -webkit and -ms, but if it showed those prefixes, then I'd know places where they're missing.

    Hi icesenshi,
It sounds like this could be a useful enhancement. Please update to the latest version of Firefox to test if it has not already been added.
And if not, please file a bug under the Developer Tools component to suggest the enhancement: [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=Firefox&component=Developer%20Tools%3A%20Inspector]

  • Show breadcrumb bar only on main list pages but not site pages

Is there any way to show the breadcrumb bar only on list pages (for example to navigate in document libraries, surveys, etc.) but no in site pages or wikipages. The only solution I found was adding a webpart to each page I want to
hide the breadcrumb bar but this is no long-term solution. How can I make sure that the breadcrumb bar only shows on ootb list pages but not on my site and wiki pages?

One way of hiding breadcrumb is through css. You can apply the css in custom master page that will hide the breadcrumb and in your default master page leave it as it is.
Using IE developer tool, check the class that is applied on the breadcrumb and apply as style of display none to that class. This way you can hide the breadcrumb. I don't have my dev box up so cannot tell the exact class right now but using IE developer
tool you will be able to find the same.

  • How to add styles to the standard Robohelp Style list?

    Hi
I want to create a Robohelp style with some border and shading under the standard Robohelp Style list (refer screenshot) so that I can use it to assign to a paragraph while importing my FrameMaker file.
    How do I that?
    Cheers
    Sreekanth

    Thanks a lot.
    Here is what I did.
    1.  Imported using the default RHStyleMapping.css settings.
    2.  Once the file was imported, I went through File > Project Settings and added the required style to RHStyleMapping.css. This style had Solid borders, tranparent shading and a custom image for Pattern.
    3.  Exported the new settings as an .isf file.
    4.  Started a new FM import project.
    5.  Now, in the Conversion settings > Robohelp Styles, I found the new style. However, this had only the border and not the Pattern image.
    6.  When I completed the import, the resulting RoboHelp also showed only the border.
So, I think I am very close to my expected result. Now, where am I going wrong on the Pattern aspect? Do I need to place the image any specific folder so that it appears while importing?
