Show File name as download link in a report

Hi people,
In an application (APEX 4.2.1) I have a reprot whith a file donwload column. I implemented the download as a BLOB column with "DOWNLOAD" as Format Mask. This works fine, I can download attachments, no probs so far. However, I want the Download Text to show the name of the actual file instead of a static text "Download".
Any suggestions on this?
Kind regards,
Vincent Deelen

Hi fac586,
Thanks for your reply.Actually, my first thougt was to use #FILE_NAME# reference, I tried it again, but it doesn't really work for me. I end up with a download link that reads exactly "#FILE_NAME#".
I've put up an example in my demo app to show:
http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=vincentdeelen:31:0:::::
I've included screenshots of the page setup in the report.
Regards,
Vincent

Is there a way to show file names with the events, in the event library window?

that is beyond the CONCEPT of this 15€ consumer product
iM is meant for camcorder-imports - cams give automatic file-names with very little information (clip001); the more important info are in the meta-tags (when, perhaps where, after analyzing who, what) .. so, from the intended perspective of this app, there's no need/function to display clip-names.
the EVENT-concept structures on time-stamp, based upon the assumption, you record your movies on some 'daily' basis, think of vacations, city-trips, holidays ...
for your workflow, using 'files', I would suggest to prep all files in Finder, create folders, re-name them, arrange them (you do know, in Finder hitting Space-bar when a file is selected, it shows a preview? video as motion pictures?), whatever to structure them, THEN import to iM for editing.-

This is a user to user forum.
Use the contact page to get a hold of Adobe and give them as much detail as possible on where you received the virus. It is possible that the virus became active about the same time you downloaded from Adobe making you think that is where it came from. But viruses have been known to activate after a set time. That may or may not be the case for you, just making you aware that something else could have been the culprit.

    Ohh thanks guys!
It worked as a charm, and thanks Brisbin33 for the autostart.sh tip.
So the thing that caused my whole system not to work as it should was that I forgot to put a "&" after conky?
haha that´s kinda anoying I have been sitting and looking through like a milllion files looking for the answer
    But again, really thanks!
    /Neuwerld
that little "&" sends the conky process to the background freeing up the current process (your autostart.sh script) to finish doing what it's doing so you can move on to running openbox itself.  with this in mind, it should be obvious why keeping conky in the foreground would cause problems.
also, replacing it with (sleep 1 && conky) & means... wait a second, when that's done successfully (&&) run conky, and put all of that () to the background.  that way openbox comes up immediatly and only a second later you've got your panel and monitor.
all this after .xinitrc and before openbox

  • How do I not show image file name, only url link - Acrobat Pro 9

Both file name and url ink show when placing cursor over image. I want to only have url link appear.
And if that's not possible, I want to then change the image file name. Any ideas?

Use a button field for the link. You will have to add the action or JS code to open the link.

  • Downloads window is blank, shows file name but doesn't show up speed, percentage of download etc.

When I start downloading something, the Downloads window opens normally & also shows what is being downloaded. But, it doesn't show downloading percentage, downloading speed. (all things which usually show up below the name of file). But when minimized, I can see percentage.

Worked for me too. options->options->privacy->remember download history

  • File name for downloaded PDF

I have an application that provides files for download using obscured urls. I use the Content-Disposition header in the http response to set the proposed file name. This works fine if the user opts to save the file directly from the link without opening it (for example, in Internet Explorer, the user right-clicks the link and selects 'Save Target As...'). However, if the PDF is opened, and then the user selects 'File-Save As' from the menu (or clicks the Save icon), the proposed file name is not used. This does work in other applications, just not in Adobe Reader.
    So, the questions are:
1 - is there a way to make this work as required - OR -
2 - is this something that will be fixed in a future version

Its been almost 3 years, has there been any update on this issue? We are experiencing the same issue. Our numerous customers are thinking about just using a different pdf reader that supports this standard. All workarounds we have encountered are hacks around the URL and are unacceptable for our customers.
Please respond, we would hate for Adobe to lose all of the users that our customers have.

  • Same file name when downloading new pics

The prev camera I had (Sony Cyber shot/Steady Shot?)always kept dynamic file numbers/names however now have Nikon D90 and now if do search on a file number now get numerous pics under same file name as new camera restarts at same number all the time.
Is there an easy way to deal with this. I would really not want to have to rename all files as soon as I download them. That can be over 300 pics at a time.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

When I say file name I mean the name/number that appears under the pic in iphoto.
Yes that is the file name
Do most people leave these numbers or change them, do you know?
Most people leave it - some preprocess all photos and assign meaningful file names and then import
I know you can assign words to them and then retrieve them by calling up all pics associated with that word(s).
You can assign a title (which can optionally be used as the file name when you export photos), a description, keywords, and a rating
Do you have any other hints for me? Do you use the Mangler software you referred to in the prev post?
Normally I do not modify the file names - if I get photos from someone else I usually use name mangler to identify the source (which I could do with keywords but for photos that are not mine I prefer having the file name show the source) - once in a while I will change some but normally I just import directly from the camera and ignore the file name

  • Safari 5 stopped prompting for file name when downloading.

    Hello,
On Safari 4, when I clicked a download link, Safari always prompted for a file name, so I could change it before starting downloading, I installed Safari 5 and "this" feature dissapeared. Can anyone help?
    Thank you in advance,
    Alex

Works for me: Right-click on the Paint.NET download file here. http://www.dotpdn.com/downloads/pdn.html
It opens a menu. I click Download Linked File As... and change the name. It downloads.
    What experience are you seeing?

  • Href="/virtual\subdir\FILE.PDF" messes up file name upon download. Does not correctly parse the backslashes.

If you have backslashes in an href like this:
    href="/virtualdir\subdir\FILE.PDF"
... and you follow the hyperlink, upon download (save link as) Firefox names the file as SUBDIR_FILE.PDF instead of leaving file name as FILE.PDF.

IE and probably Google Chrome as well tend to be more forgiving with such coding errors, but Firefox is usually more strict and doesn't allow this. A valid path should consist of names separated by slashes and not by backslashes.

  • Slide Show File Names

    To All,
Is it neccessary to have individual file names for all the files in all the slide shows?
I created a DVD with several slide shows that contian many images from my digital camera. Some of the files have the same name (ie:, DCS_004). All the slide shows stayed together while I put the presentation together. But now, when I reopen the iDVD file, I'm asked to find all the files for each slide show (which I have in individual folders). I choose the first slide for each show, the others followed automatically. But the problem is that the slide shows are all mixed up. Images (with the same name) from different shows (folders) are appearing in different slide shows. Should iDVD automatically find the images rather than me having to find each slide show???
    Thanks in Advance,
    Craig

You can do it in Encore 2.0.
Select all the slides in the slideshow, then go to Properties and turn on subtitles with the Name property checked. The name of the slide will now appear as a subtitle over the slide (make sure to enable subtitles when you link to the slideshow).

    Hi ,
It looks like your report column is set to display as Text. Go to "Home>Application Builder>Application #>Page #>Interactive Report Attributes" and change it to Standard report Column and you should be all set.

if i try to download a file with any special characters in file name (e.g. File_Name.pdf), it doesn't reconvert them from the "sanitize url" process and download the file an incorrect name (e.g. File%5FName.pdf).
    This is really annoying.

  • Show file name as the title for a photo in Photos app

If my memory is correct in iPhoto when you hovered the cursor over a photo it displayed the title assigned to the photo, but if you had not assigned a title it showed the file name. In Photos app the only way I have found to see the file name is in the info panel. Other wise it only shows untitled when you hover over the photo. You can copy/paste in the info pane but thats a pain if you have hundreds of pics with no title. I only named a few in iPhoto as I preferred to see the file name assigned by the camera. Any one know if it's possible to see file name and not untitled?

See this discussion:  Re: Where are photo file names?
Photos does show the filenames only in the Info panel, and if you wrote the filename into the title field as a title, Photos will suppress it. in some cases
