Show first paragraph of blog post using liquid

The legacy tag {tag_blogpostbodypreview,Text} allows to have a preview of the blog post. There is no similar possibility in the new liquid markup except for the | truncate filter. But this thing is very dangerous, for if you insert code which tags are then truncated before being closed it can detroy the whole layout of a page. Take a table for
example or an a-tag truncated right in the middle. How can I have only my first paragraph or a short teaser being shown in a blog post list? Any help would be appreciated!
P.S. in the liquid markup there is a | truncatewords filter, but this one seems to not be included to BC liquid yet?
Dennis

That is a bad idea because it will remove any images and formatting that you will want to keep from your content.
Original tags will and do still work in your layouts. If you want the preview of the first paragraph just still use the tag
There are several liquid filters not working in BC, not sure if they will be implemented at the moment. BC have been on the quite front as they have been doing the migration.

  • How to post multiple images in one blog post using iweb

    Hi
    I would like to post multiple images in a single blog post. When ever I add a second or third image in the "entry" section of iweb, it does not show up in the blog post on the homepage of the blog. does anyone know if it is even possible to have multiple, separate images in one post, and if so, how.
    Here is a link to my blog: http://www.hoopography.com. You can see how there is only one image. I I want to talk about multiple items, I need to create an image in Pages and put them all together. I would really like to break out of the one box (placeholder) mold. I feel so constrained in iweb right now. I think I have done a lot with my blog, but I am always looking to learn more about iweb and improve my blog. Thanks for any help!!!

    what's the url of your blog? I'd like to check it out. I'm always interested in learning more about iWeb to improve my blogs. Mine are: http://www.hoopography.com and http://www.wnysportscards.com

    Your blog is on Google's Blogger which uses XML templates.  If you want to change the look of your blog, use a different Blogger Template.  Unfortunately, DW isn't going to be much help with this since you must use the Blogger Dashboard to change templates, content, widgets, etc...

  • How to limit the number of blog posts showing?

    Hi there guys...
    Just wondering - how do you limit the number of blog posts showing on a main blog post summary page?

  • Edge Animate file working on main blog page but not on the individual blog post in BC

    I recently uploaded an edge animate file to my blog which is host on Business Catalyst (BC). The edge file works on the main blog page but not on the individual blog post. How can I solve this problem?
    I did the following steps:
    I added the required Adobe Edge scripts on my main blog template.
    Create folder on the server called "edge_includes" and uploaded the 'edge.5.0.0.min' file.
    Create folder on the server called "js" and uploaded the 'jquery-1.7.1.min' file.
    Copy and pasted the div to the part of the blog post I wanted the file to appear (<div id="Stage" class="EDGE-13973370"></div>).
    Uploaded the name of the js file to the root called 'World of Code_edge.'
    Uploaded the images to the existing folder called 'images.'

    I'm still unable to figure out the problem.
    Here is the link to the blog: http://goo.gl/sPW62j (the post titled "Basic Computer Science is a Fundamental Skill in the 21st Century Society").
    Here is the link to the individual post: http://goo.gl/jTSgZH
    Also, I get mixed results on the main blog page. Sometimes the image (Edge Animate file) on the main page shows and other times it does not. However, the image never shows on the individual blog post.

  • The icons of the blog posts that I visit do not change to show my visit. eg. I used to be able to see the orange blogger symbol when I visited that blog post.

    I subscribe to blogs via RSS (whatever that means) and new blog posts show up in my bookmark menu ....... they show up with a grey unassuming icon at the beginning of the blog post bookmark.
    Months ago the appearance of the bookmarks would "change" when I visited the post ..... eg. for blogger posts the icon would turn into the traditional orange blogger symbol.
    But for many many months now the icons don't change with the visit and it's getting difficult to remember if I've visited that blog post or not by looking at the bookmark itself.
    How can I get the bookmark to update/refresh when I visit a blog post?

    I see a faded RSS feed icon for live bookmark items that turn into the website's favicon after having visited the link.
    There may be a problem with the favicons if you get the generic default icon instead of the website's favicon.
    You can try to repair the places database with this extension:
    *https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/places-maintenance/
    See also:
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Bookmarks_history_and_toolbar_buttons_not_working_-_Firefox
    You can to remove all stored data from that domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry (Show All History or History sidebar) to see if that will reset the favicon if the above posted steps didn't help.
    Using "Forget About This Site" will remove everything from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious if you need to keep passwords or other data from that site.<br />
    You can't recover from that "forget" unless you have a backup of the affected files.<br />
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Backing+up+your+information
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Recovering+important+data+from+an+old+profile
    It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

  • Customizing the blog post web part to not show entire entries

    I have a blog site, and as you know, the posts web part shows the entire contents of each listed post, rather than one paragraph, followed by a "click here to read more" link.  I know that there is no out-of-box functionality for this, because of course,
    why would there be? Who needs nice looking blogs?  Anyway, I found this on the internet:
    http://zabistop.blogspot.com/2009/02/customizing-sharepoint-blog-posts-web.html
    It knows what's up, but it's outdated and the code doesn't mesh with what I have. Are there any articles similar to this online? I can't be the first person who thought of this, and doing it from the ground up is not an option. I appreciate any help.

    In 2010 you can make the same changes using a similar method.
    Open the default.aspx page, in code view click in within the blog area. In the ribbon click on the List View tools >design. Click on Customize XSLT in the Actions panel. When you do that you will be able to see all the code.
    Find this line of code <xsl:template name="FieldRef_Note_body.Body" ddwrt:dvt_mode="body" match="FieldRef[@Name='Body']" mode="Note_body" ddwrt:ghost="hide">
    Approx line 402. It actually looks like   </xsl:template><xsl:template name="FieldRef.... so you will have to place your cursor after the template close and hit enter a few times to make space for the code.
    Directly above that line, where you have added spaces, include this code. (I cheated and grabbed this code from another site where we did the same thing - and was able to modify it slightly to work for the blog.)
    <!-- used to strip out HTML from passed-in field -->
        <xsl:template name="removeHtmlTagsFromField">
         <xsl:param name="html"/>
         <xsl:choose>
             <xsl:when test="contains($html, '&lt;')">
                 <xsl:value-of select="substring-before($html, '&lt;')"/>
                 <!-- Recurse through HTML removing all markup -->
                 <xsl:call-template name="removeHtmlTagsFromField">
                     <xsl:with-param name="html" select="substring-after($html, '&gt;')"/>
                 </xsl:call-template>
             </xsl:when>
             <xsl:otherwise>
                 <xsl:value-of select="$html"/>
             </xsl:otherwise>
         </xsl:choose>
     </xsl:template>
    Next below the line ( should be the next line below the pasted code)   <xsl:template name="FieldRef_Note_body.Body" ddwrt:dvt_mode="body" match="FieldRef[@Name='Body']" mode="Note_body" ddwrt:ghost="hide">
    Locate the       <xsl:param name="thisNode" select="."/> and paste the following code:
      <!-- call "removeHtmlTagsFromField" template to strip out html markup from the field -->
     <xsl:variable name="textOnlyDescription">
         <xsl:call-template name="removeHtmlTagsFromField">
             <xsl:with-param name="html" select="$thisNode/@*[name()=current()/@Name]" />
         </xsl:call-template>
     </xsl:variable>
    I have already swichted out the select content with the content that was in the xsl line that renders the body content.
    Locate the code  ( should be 2 lines down)     <xsl:value-of select="$thisNode/@*[name()=current()/@Name]" disable-output-escaping="yes"/>
    Comment the code out and replace with the following code:
          <xsl:value-of select="substring($textOnlyDescription, 0, 320)" disable-output-escaping="yes"/>
          <xsl:if test="string-length($textOnlyDescription)>320">...</xsl:if>
    Change the number to your desired length.
    Save your file.
    You can revert the file if you ever need to, after its checked in, by right clicking on the page and selecting reset to site definition.
    Hope this helps. I plan on doing a post shortly covering this and will have screen shots.

  • Blog posts don't show author

    Here's something odd... my blog posts show up stamped with no author information. For example:
    *Today at 9:42 PM by* <blank>
    (the word blank doesn't really show up)
    What makes this even more confusing is that the author stamps DO WORK in the wiki for the same group.
    If you dig into /Library/Collaboration/Groups/groupname/weblog/randomchar.page/page.plist the author DOES show up there like it should.
    Here's the curveball: I am using LDAP for authentication. Local user posts author stamps DO WORK. LDAP user author stamps DON'T WORK. (the page.plists files look the same regardless of the user) Again, everything works as it should regardless of user in the wiki.
    Any ideas????

  • Paragraph spacing for BC blog posts

    Hi
    Can anyone please tell me how you create paragraph space in the body text of a bc blog post. I need this to be permanent as my client will be adding posts and doesnt know any html.
    thanks

    Ahh well there you go.
    Never paste from word.
    Word has hidden code to make its formating that come through to your browser, it can be 100's of lines long. You have not the major issue but inline styles in spans and the pargraph giving overly big line heights and spacing.
    To paste from word use the clipboard icon in the editor that says "paste as plain text" and that will hold the content but has no formating. You then use the format dropdown to form your h1's, h2's and paragraphs etc.
    As a note your BLOG url is in all capitals, urls should all be lower case no spaces.

    If you have not done so, try exiting the Photo app (and maybe more apps if you have a lot open) from the Open Apps List and see if a discount/reconnect opens the app. If that does not work, try powering down the iPad and test. If it is still not working try a hard reset by pressing both Home and Sleep/Wake buttons at the same time until the Apple graphic appears, ignoring the Slide to Power Off button.

  • Blog Post List layout - images missing

    My developer is saying that it is not possible to include post images in the blog post list layout.
    Can you confirm if this is correct?
    Here is my current blog post list layout  http://www.onlineiq.biz/_blog/onlineiq_blog
    and images only display when clicking on Post Detail view.
    I know this can be acheived with web apps, but just needed to confirm that he is not missing something or that there is a trick we need to be aware of.
    thanks
    Ursh

    Just add an image into the paragraph of text.
    http://www.fueldesign.co.nz/_blog/Fuel_Design_Blog
    I think what your developer is doing is using the tag for the layout to show a number of characters rather then the one to show the first paragraph. The latter will allow you to have html such as images but you need to ensure your first paragraph is short and sweet - and intro and the css styles for the image work.
    But as you can see, it is defiantly possible.

  • Bug in BLOG Post.aspx

    This is a spin off from a previous issue I had but now I think this is a bug and it appears to only be in the Post.aspx view. To summarize, when the exact same web part is added to the POST.aspx page as well as the /Forms/AllItems.aspx page, it
    crashes on the first and works on the latter.
    To try and keep this short I'll be simple
    Initial setup.....
    1) Create a Team Site with a contacts app
    2) Create a Blog SUB site with a contacts app and a document app
    3) In the team site, create a new Site Column that is a Lookup to it's Contact app (based on Last Name Linked Field)
    4) In the sub BLOG site, create a new Site Column that is a Lookup to it's Contact app (based on Last Name Linked Field)
    5) In the sub BLOG site, add both the Parent Team Site Lookup and the Blog Site Lookup as an "Existing Column" to both the POST and the Document Apps.
    so at this point, you should have a blog sub site with a Post app and a Document app that have 2 new columns added: One is the Contact lookup column from the Parent site, the other is the Contact Lookup column from the local Blog site.
    Let the fun begin...
    6) On the Blog post details page (the page that comes up when you click on the title of an individual BLOG post), add 2 new web parts.... one is the existing "Post" library, which means you would have the same info just in a different view) and
    the other web part is the existing "Document" library. For each newly added Web part.... edit the current view and make sure to include the newly added Lookup columns.
    7) On the Blog's Document library page (the page that comes up when you view everything in this app), add 2 new web parts.... one is the existing "Post" library, and the other web part is the existing "Document" library (which
    is a duplicate of the already existing web part). For each newly added Web part.... edit the current view and make sure to include the newly added Lookup columns.
    Results....
    What you should see is that the actual "POST" page (/List/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=n) will not even display the original untouched web part. The added Document web part (with the new columns showing) will show and the Contact Linking works. The
    second occurrence of the Post Web part (which includes the new lookup columns) crashes and displays an error on the screen.
    If you open up the Document Library, you will see the original untouched web part working, and BOTH of the newly added web parts which includes the exact same "Post" + new Lookup columns as above.
    ... so long story short... the same web part for the same object library with the same display columns works in the _layouts/15/start.aspx#/myDocs/Forms/AllItems.aspx however does not work in the the /_layouts/15/start.aspx#/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx

    If you really feel it's a bug, you could join the +Apple Developer Connection+ — the +ADC Online+ category is free, here:
    ...then you can use this to create a trackable problem report:
    ...And no, you don't need to be a "developer" to join — just an Apple user who wants to make sure Apple knows there's a bug and have the ability to track its resolution.
    Problems with iWeb's blog are a recurring theme on these forums — so you may soon be back with a different iWeb blog problem: Lost all blog entries or all comments or unable to publish, etc. And whether iWeb's blog works well or not is of little concern to Apple as it's only a tiny part of their software repertoire. If you switch to a dedicated blogging platform you're likely to have a better experience. For a success story using a non-iWeb blog hosted on WordPress, see this old thread:

  • How to fix BC blog post meta title and description

    BC blog post <title> and <description> shows (seo) from sidebar/post list - But does not show in blog post page thru site menu nav.
    The blog post title and description show up corectelly when clicking on sidebar list of posts.
    It must be using the module layout list.html which I have set up with:
    <html>
        <head>
        <title>{tag_blogpostmetatitle}</title>
            <meta name="description" content="{tag_blogpostmetadescription}">

    Title and Description show correctly here:
    https://cameocoinsonline.worldsecuresystems.com/cameo-coins-blog/how-to-buy-and-sell-gold- and-silver-bullion
    The problem is:
    when clicking on menu nav to “blog” it does not show correct title and description.
    From the blog page thru menu nav
    Title and Description do not show correctly here:
    It shows the name of the blog (cameo coins blog) instead of the name to the post.
    https://cameocoinsonline.worldsecuresystems.com/cameo-coins-blog
    Please Advise
    Thank You

    Hey there,
    Firstly, putting blog posts meta title in the list layout is really bad - You do not do this. This is not how meta works and you need to understand a bit more about what it is.
    If you have a list of blog posts on a page all with lots of title and meta BC will do one of two things.
    1. Use the very last title and meta it sees rendered on all the layouts/templates/page it sees
    2. Render the last title and spit out multiple meta's
    Meta implementation is for the detail layout of something like a blog only - The single rendered content - 1 title, 1 meta description. For your blog this will ONLY go in the blog detail layout.
    And in that layout at the bottom of it..
        <head>
        <title>{tag_blogpostmetatitle}</title>
            <meta name="description" content="{tag_blogpostmetadescription}">
        </head>
    You need to understand that, remove it from others to fix up that issue with what your doing first. Very likely because you probably have this in other list layotus and all over the place your seeing inconstant output, address this and you probably will actually find your issue fixed.
